A couple of notes about the 2nd Italo-Ethiopian war. 1) Emperor Haile Silase appealed for intervention from the League of Nations, but was turned down due to fears that intervention might precipitate what would later be WW2. 2) While Italians claimed Ethiopia as part of Italian East Africa, resistance lasted longer than months: indeed Ethiopians viewed Italian presence as occupation, and recognition of IEA did not come readily (plus no settlers came). Resistance was bolstered by the British and Yugoslavian advisors, such that by 1941, the Italians had been driven out
Fun fact: The explosion of the Maine was found out to come from inside of the ship and the invasion of Puerto Rico was not without resistance. By the time of the cease fire not only the USA invasion had been stopped in the middle of the island it was slowly being pushed back to the coast.

@@emberfist8347 That counterpoint is also a fallacy. The U.S. has plenty of oil reserves, maybe more than any other country on Earth - the minute we use them they theoretically stop being reserves. Just as with other natural resources, its scarcity - or the perception of scarcity - drives up the price, and vice versa. It's easy to forget that a U.S. president enforced gasoline rationing based on this perception of scarcity. Another guaranteed his reelection by opening up the oil reserves and bringing gas prices down, after which they have continued to climb YoY to unprecedented levels for the U.S. We invaded Afghanistan in a direct hunt for a HVT, while Iraq was invaded on vague justifications of re-stockpiling "WMDs" despite the U.S. bombing the country every 2 weeks for years.
I was with the 3rd ACR. We captured a lot of Iraqi tanks, which since we didn't have the logistics to pack up and take home, we towed out and shot up like it was a shooting gallery. I got to see inside several of them, still with all their gear and ammo, and realized immediately why they were no match for us: they used caseless rounds with about half the propellant of a US Army tank round, much of which was stored openly. ANY penetration was likely to set that ammo off, no matter how minor. On top of that, the gunner's station used no modern equipment, but a very large scope marked with about a dozen kinds of manual-calculation notching systems. This meant that the gunner had to have information everything from range to target width/length/angle to current wind speed in order to lay the gun and fire it accurately - which in a real warfare situation, happening in real time, took a lot longer and was prone to error, especially at longer ranges. It was the equivalent of a little kid swinging at you while you held them at arm's reach, before punching their lights out.

Yep. Rules and honor only apply in duels and games.
Well remember? You can't redo or respawn like in video games but in real life you only get 1 chance only you die you die for real.
Do people always forget about the Geneva Convention?

That’s crazy Saddam Hussein thought Iraq was Germany. At least Germany stood a chance.
Technology is a sob if this was 1970 USA military in this situation it would have been a different story. More of a conventional battle. But the USA defense budget with research made it un winnable bc Iraq was using outdated weapons with no actual defense research of their own. I mean it's quite impressive how advanced the USA was in the 1990s. I remember a documentary where a tanker on the USA side "It wasn't even fair, we could fight at night or sand storm and our sights made it look like it was daytime, we could see if a solider farted from 2 km out and they could see us until we were 50 meters in front of them."
I mean Germany had allies, Iraq had not allies in War. If it was not for America, Iraq was powerful enough to conquer countries arround it with ease like Saudia for example. Plus the Coalition was largest since WW2, if they made that big of a Coalition they obviously knew Iraq was powerful Country military wise economically. But the other guy is right 70s american military and iraqi military have a lot in common they look similar. the technology and weapons are similar. 1v1 would be a different story tho.
My dad was one of the US soldiers deployed to the conflict in Grenada! He told me that his unit was sent in after the airport was taken to hold the airport.
simple history i love your videos and your new animation styles i've been watching you for 4-5 year now and i really wanna see a video about the turkish invasion of cyprus
thank you so much keep up the good work
In the words of compatriot852 “Definitely ‘fair’ and ‘balanced’ matchmaking”
You damn right it wasn't fair. The Ethiopians were still in the middle of upgrading from swords to black power rifles.
Black Power rifles ✊️
They already had black powder rifles from the previous war with the Italians
The 1rst Gulf War and the U.S. invasion of Grenada was one of the wars that my dad was almost in along with the Iran Hostage Crisis.

The Anglo-Zanzibar War: *Lasts only 38 minutes*
Average battle in a CoD game: Amateurs
Exactly
I'd include the hilariously one-sided British invasion of Ethiopia in 1868. An insane ruler started kidnapping priests and diplomats. Britian sailed in a rescue force of 20,000 British and Indian troops with 40,000 horses and elephants - Marched across a mountainous desert, won over the locals, annialated the Emperor's army, rescued the hostages, and then went home again. It would be amazing logistics now, but in the 1860s it was next level.
What’s hilarious about that
@@beastyjaygaming5188 "hilariously one sided"
@@christianZaal yea. I’ll ask again. Whats so hilarious. What’s hilarious about a one sided genocide that didn’t need to happen once so ever are you British? If so that would make some sense
No the British themselves said the reason they won was because of a rogue collaborator who wanted to become a king ethiopia back then had multiple Kings and Britain only won 1 of them even if he was considered king of ethiopia the true land under him consisted 10000 people while other regional wars in ethiopia at the time consists of 50000 people at least
Plus the British wasted nearly a billion dollars in estimates to take down a person who was king only by title and was in fact weaker than regional kings
My father was on one of those Carriers in Desert Storm. He was a Petty Officer.
Well, the monster of a combat. War is never a guaranteed regardless of supply lines and cash reserves.
It’s genuinely crazy to see history books talk about the Persian gulf war when I grew up with my dad talking about being a marine during desert storm.
I would actually buy that little action figure . Dude looks like he means business
Azerbaijan's recent aggression against Artsakh wasn't exactly very fair, either. Especially since The Armenians living there were likely malnourished, due to Azerbaijan starving them with a blockade for ages. Which the international community obviously ignored, as they were already too busy sucking off Zelensky.
Nothing is issue because RuSsiA isn't involved in it.
to be honest i wouldn't give a damn about what happens in those mountains cause it's none of my business and why would they care it has no benefits of whatsoever
this is just an agression not full on war so it's also no surprise people would ignore plus the Caucasus mountain is just a small area unlike the Ukraine which is the second largest country in Europe fighting against the second strongest army in the world

Great Video!!❤
A couple of notes about the 2nd Italo-Ethiopian war. 1) Emperor Haile Silase appealed for intervention from the League of Nations, but was turned down due to fears that intervention might precipitate what would later be WW2.
2) While Italians claimed Ethiopia as part of Italian East Africa, resistance lasted longer than months: indeed Ethiopians viewed Italian presence as occupation, and recognition of IEA did not come readily (plus no settlers came). Resistance was bolstered by the British and Yugoslavian advisors, such that by 1941, the Italians had been driven out
There is no such thing as an unfair fight. you fight to win no matter what. False notions of honor be damned
Fun fact: The explosion of the Maine was found out to come from inside of the ship and the invasion of Puerto Rico was not without resistance. By the time of the cease fire not only the USA invasion had been stopped in the middle of the island it was slowly being pushed back to the coast.
Cuba however was curbstomp for the Spanish which is understandable as not did they have to face the legendary Teddy Roosevelt, but also the local Cubans who were on the American side.
WAKE UP SLOOT SIMPLE HISTORY JUST UPLOADED
I think that you should create a limited edition collectable set of the you tube soldiers having a soldier from each branch of the US military and from each war beginning with the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War. Each one being designed with the correct style uniform and weaponry.
And not just the regular soldier but special units and weapons such as airborne, flame throwers, sniper, fighter pilots, tank crew, medics, calvary, etc.
War is no sport
War is war and everyone who knows anything about war knows that no battle plans survive the battle field
Fun fact: during the Italian invasion of Ethiopia, Roberto Farinacci, a higher-up of the Fascist Party, lost his hand to a grenade. According to the citation of his war wound pension, it was a battle wound. In truth, he screwed up while grenade fishing, and Mussolini forced him to give his pension to charity.

Everyone talks about the F117 but the F111s did most of the hard work. A lot of the imagery from f111s got credited to the stealth fighters. The “stealth fighter” got all the credit. Ask an aardvark pilot who served in the first gulf war about it.

America VS the smallest country in the world that has 1 pint of oil:
No, you don't get it, they're hiding Weapons of Mass Destruction/terrorists (oil)
We never invade for oil that is a myth. We have plenty of oil in our own territories. We also went to Afghanistan for longer than oil rich Iraq.
Bruh you invade because of oil and also for gold😂😂
You attacked Iraq because of they invaded Kuwait and later may come for Saudi or any other middle east oil Nation US Will be without oil
That's why they attacked it wasn't because of peace
Y'all don't do something without giving something in return
Same way you destroyed Libya because they wanted to create a currency backed by gold that will cripple the dollar
And also Iraq because the later leader wanted to start selling oil in euros that's why y'all lied and said there was WMD after that you have invaded a lot of countries and stole from them
Y'all don't invade countries because you want to restore peace you invade them when their moving away from US dollar
Because you know your dollar isn't backed with anything but war
@@emberfist8347
@@kongming66 We did find they didn’t dispose of their WMDs.
Well that is what happens when you are using budget tanks.
