How is UK’s Rwanda asylum plan impacting Ireland?

  • The war of words has intensified between the UK and Irish governments over the possible effects of the Rwanda policy.
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Ireland's deputy prime minister said people are crossing the border from Northern Ireland as they are afraid of being sent to Rwanda.
The Irish government is preparing emergency legislation that will allow people to be sent back to the UK.
But Rishi Sunak said he was “not interested” in any sort of returns deal if the European Union did not allow the UK to send back asylum seekers who had arrived from France.

Bullys still bully until they get the right slap in the mouth, to use a school yard analogy. The Irish might yet be in the same category as the Black and dog according to the elite in Britain. They had signs up in the guest houses in Britian "No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish". Nowadays, they no longer put it on signs, but their foreign policy in relation to Ireland tells the tale... e.g. how they tried to renege on the Good Friday Agreement in relation to putting back in a hard border in Ireland with the likelihood of a resumption of the war as an outcome, in breech of international law. Albion is always playing a zero-sum game. Ireland by poor fortune just happens to be right next door to it.

@@davidjames3787 Britain does not get to unilaterally rewrite an internationally binding peace agreement, at least not this one. So, just to help you with your inability to comprehend how things work in the big-boys classroom, It is not the Irish government that insisted upon adherence to the GFA, but International Law. I know that it may be difficult to abide by rules that you have agreed to, but that is what is expected, and in the case of the GFA, internationally insisted upon (USA, Europeans, Australians, and others). FYI, Britain has a history of shitting all over other nations, but it just did not get away with it on this occasion, even though it really tried to get away with it one more time.
The Rwanda business is far from complete, and we will see how things work out, after the Irish aligned nations ratchet up their pressure of Britain, one more time. You see, Ireland is no longer the dogsbody that Britain thinks that it is, and this Bully has run her course. She got a slap in the mouth from the Americans over adherence to the GFA, and she is being shown the closed American fist again now as we speak.
The question is, does Britain-beag want another public American lesson in international diplomacy, such that she has to scurry off with her tail between her legs again?
