If you call yourself a Resident evil fan and have played most if not all the games, this game has to be S tier. You know it. I know it. We all know it. It is survival horror defined.
Not by me, I do have played most of the originals with 2 being the only exception. I only liked the section of lisa, it was the only scary part of the game, but overall, REmake is overrated in compression to other survival horrors.
@@germ2648 You stating your opinion on not liking the game is fine, but the part where you say it's overrated is definitely wrong. Pretty much everyone agrees on how good the game is, from its OST to the layout and visuals, especially if you consider the game was made in 2002 and it still looks relatively beautiful on the Gamecube, especially if you compare it to other games from that era. The game not being scary to you is subjective. I remember playing as an 11 year old boy and while the game is not made for us in mind, I was a scared of everything 11 year old. I have been playing RE games since I was around 7-8. The game was still creepy, with a good couple of jumpscares or just creepy settings, like the hunter dropping down from the 2nd floor, the dogs smashing through the windows if you came back through the corridor and some zombies we didn't burn at the time just opening doors as you walk by. The game is simply put, a masterpiece. It got everything from the first RE game, but remade it 1000x better. It's what all remakes should aspire to be.
@@BlasterS33clearly nostalgia and being a fanboy can play a factor in this. Do you know what scared me when I was 8? Fucking Mario 64, so being scared by games as these as a child is not really a big merit. People overall seem to really ignore the flaws in REmake for just being an upgrade of the first game. Awkward camera angles? No problem apparently, badly outdated tank controls and quite a simplistic story? people are okay with that too. And again, the only part of the game that I truly felt scary was the Lisa section with the tunnels, the game only really managed to get me scared through jumps care because the ambience wasn't really that great, or at least I found the mansion to not be that scary, and let's not talk about the story either because again, the game has little to offer outside of the Trevor family, Chris and Jill were as interesting as a brick, Wesker was as cartoonishly evil as always and bravo and alpha team were just zombie food, I couldn't care less about Enrico dying or the guy that was bitten by a snake. Let me be clear, I don't hate REmake or the RE franchise, I have zero as my favorite out of all fucking RE games, but honestly, I just fail to see why it is considered a masterpiece when the silent hill trilogy and the fatal frame trilogy exist.
Its not overated since almost everyone in the community of horror like this game xd Its like failing to considered a masterpiece portrait only cause there's mona lisa next to it, its kinda sad
@@ryanc6699 I think you just don't know what overrated actually means. If something is praised by everyone unfairly, then it is overrated, the fact everyone in the community seems to consider it a masterpiece when there are better survival horror games out there is what makes it overrated. And by the way Mona Lisa wasn't exactly a masterpiece, it was the story surrounded about the painting that made it popular so I'm not sure if that was a good analogy.
Why they have never used the Crimson heads again is beyond me. The Crimson heads scared me so much when I was younger, I have played every resident evil, the Crimson heads are the only scary thing I've ever encountered
Agreed. I didn't play this version until it was on PS4. I used to own the PS1 Director’s Cut. That first crimson head I was like WTF. That and Lisa Trevor moaning behind the door. Who is that?!?!? 😂

Yeah, the crimson heads are perfect. I don’t need more elaborate monsters. Keeping the zombies scary, is what makes it perfect. And that shift from Romero zombies, to 28 Days Later zombies is chef’s kiss.

Hey kid, I played the original RE 1 when it was fresh! Video games can connect a lot of different types of people, I'll be a gamer forever. Cheers from Brazil o/
I love the idea that Chris’ campaign is hard mode not because he’s a big tough man and girls get it easy, but because Jill is just a smarter and more competent operator than him. She can read music, she can pick locks, and most importantly she knows to bring extra pouches to carry more things. Chris specs completely into biceps as the series moves forward.
The whole thing with chris biceps is he wanted to be Is it the best physical State he could be when fighting wesker after he got his ass kicked in code veronica
For a long time this was my favorite game ever made. It's still my favorite of the franchise and my favorite horror game ever made. The level design here is superb, this game will stand the test of time with both graphics and gameplay. Even if you're not a fan of the old school tank controls and camera layout, this is the absolute peak of that particular design scheme. Everything down to where the cameras are facing in each frame and where the enemies are placed works alongside the control scheme to make sure that this game is never being cheap or unfair to you It's not all that scary anymore however it still drips with atmosphere, it's creepy and unsettling even if it's not downright terrifying. Although that first portion where Lisa chases you out of the cabin in the woods and the shark tank still spiked my anxiety every single time
I remember buying the GameCube in 2005 just for 5 games RE1 remake, RE Zero, Re4, MGS Twin Snakes, and Eternal Darkness. I was never a Mario or Zelda fan, lol, and btw playing these games on cold rainy days is exactly the way!
same. these new kids don't get why you'd want that... duh because it's more faithful to the originals. i dont mind if they do it the way they did but we want our version as well. even if it was dlc or something. we should have the option and it's bs we don't.
totally. I would love to see a version of the station in high quality pre-render style. The new remake´s one was fine but...i wasnt a big fan of how the darkness made it all look the same
I've played RE Remake an embarrassingly high number of times, yet I've NEVER seen the alternate scene between Jill and Barry in the dining room at the beginning. I'm shocked!
For this game Jill is actually worse imo. Well, she's still better on the lower difficulties, but the harder the setting you have the game on the less her advantages matter. Crimson Heads spawn so quickly on the harder modes that you basically have to take the Kerosine and lighter with you everywhere, and Jill being so squishy means she has to carry Healing items that Chris can afford to do without. These two factors almost nullify her advantage of having a larger inventory. And her having the lockpick ceases to matter after a certain point. Chris having higher HP and faster firing speed are much more useful advantages.
when you've played the game so much there is no real need to burn the zombies imo, even on hard mode. waste of item spaces and time burining them imo@@ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502
Three things I hope RE9 has. 1: More self defense options, every game has made it so that you need a knife to be able to fight back if your out of ammo, so maybe in the future we can get something like just a defensive kick to push away enemies, but mainly to keep away from them not as an infinite attack start. 2: Actually making your Safe room safe yourselves, imagine manually setting up the locks or the bar the keeps the monsters at bay?, and if you forget or if an enemy is strong enough the door could get damaged or a monster could sneak in while your saving or doing inventory. 3: I’ve heard the next game will have you Possibly play as Chris & Leon, so I kinda want the scenario A & B to come back, and maybe even a form of co-op out of it?. Maybe like while your playing Chris’s story, your partner would be playing as Leon doing something different while your doing your own objectives.
The first thing has already been implemented, it’s in resident evil dead aim for the ps2, although you don’t kick enemies, you just push them away or duck under
Well if they make a game with Chris & Leon it will surely be an action focused game rather than a survival horror. Maybe a soft reboot? Idk if I want that but it's the only way to have a survival horror game with the og characters
Not sure if you know this but it was a huge surprise for me. When you 100% the game you get a message from the developers thanking you for playing. This just made me love the game even more!
I “pride” myself at being good at og RE games but I’m not that good. Amazing. Maybe I don’t have the balls to attempt such a feat with this game because I don’t like getting close to the zombies lol.
@@louis0187 you can do it no problem, I’m an old man and I did it. Just follow a step by step guide on RUclips and do what they did. There’s one or two tricky bits, the crimson head elder and the plant, but overall it’s pretty manageable and actually fun. Do it on easy mode though!
Details missing in the Remake is in the original, you could see the helipad from the library which gave you a goal to get out. In the Remake, you never know about it till the Lab and also in the original, it's shown the rusted door next to the fountain is to the Heliport which you see in the Heliport. In the Remake, you see the rusted door by the fountain but not in the Helipad. I've looked and never found it. Also when the Hunter is introduced, you Don't see it come in the door, it just cuts from the cutscene to resuming play and you can't see the Hunter till it pops out to attack you.
I like the heliport scene but not seeing it in the remake adds to a sense of hopefulness and you can see the rusted door in the same place in both. Lastly I also like they don’t show the hunter for someone who not played the game it’s like a jump scare and also more scary not seeing what’s attacking you
Man, I haven't played this game in years and it's so funny being reminded of how convoluted everything in the mansion is. Like imagine working out of a mansion where you have to point a bunch of wind vanes in specific directions in order to just unlock a normal fuckin' gate lol, and God forbid you forget any of the solutions, because the whole damn building is like that. Must've been hell even before the zombies.
Everyone calling for a remake of this remake: please stop. It’s perfect the way it is. It encapsulates the original game and builds upon it in every way. It still has gorgeous graphics-especially after the HD remaster. Leave this one alone. If you want to remake the messes that were Code Veronica and RE5, then go nuts.
I enjoyed RE5 more than any other action oriented re game. But I agree with re1r not needing another remake. It is perfect as it is. It's pure resident evil, something none of the modern re remakes can say. Re2r was disappointing and re3r was just awful in every way, even as its oun game.
I don't think it needs a remake either but it might happen as it doesn't connect to the modern remake timeline. I don't think CV was a bad game though and even if it was it's kinda a bad idea to remake a bad game, a CV remake probably won't respect the fans either. I would prefer RE 5 personally.
This game originally came out on the gamecube and it was the game with best graphics to me (by far). The reason the graphics are this good is because of the fixed camera angles. This way they didnt have to make entire rendered 3D models of everything. Because the entire background are "just" awesome 2D Backgrounds with lighting effects (candles for example). That way they saved a lot computing power and could make the char models look better and all without sacrificing performence. It's kind of an awesome trick. That way you can make really awesome looking environments on hardware that isnt capable of running something like this on engines that wouldnt be able to produce this in a suitable framerate. It does not have to be the best engine and everything rendered in 3D. You can use a bit trickery to make things cool & awesome. Who cares if everything is 3D rendered when you don't need it, looks good and works fine. But It would indeed be awesome to see how great a game would look like in an newer engine when they did that method. Yo could save so much computing power and put really high res backgrounds without much computing cost. I would love to see something like this again in todays environments.
I agree with the title of the video. Ya know the one called "The Resident Evil Remake is a Masterpiece?" Yeah, that one. I agree with the title of that video. It's the one I'm watching rn actually. It's a gnarly video btw. Thanks 4 listening to me pour my heart out ❤
7:53 it's also good to know that Barry WON'T save you from the shotgun trap if you skip over it and watch the cutscene where you meet him in the main hall. You'll have to wait until you can get the broken shotgun if you want to pick it. It's the same in the original, if you meet him in the hall or grab the bazooka from Forest's body he won't save you. at 9:40 you can lure the upstairs zombies to the stairs where they only try to vomit on you and you can run past them, when the other zombie follows you through the door you only have to worry about the zombie to the left of the stairs

No. Wtf are you even advocating for? Things become outdated for a reason. Having gimmicky counterintuitive controls to make it more “scary” does not add anything beyond poor accessibility. Just screw people like you, honestly
10:41 That zombie will never come back to life at any point and really only exists to waste your kerosene, for future reference. 20:52 You can push the console into the water and it'll fall next to the giant shark, then hit a switch to the left in order to electrocute and insta-kill the shark which saves all of your ammo.
I think they missed 1 mark with the Remake. And that have 2 characters in the jail cell. (Chris and Rebecca in Jill’s scenario/ Jill and Barry in Chris’s scenario) It setup for the canon ending.
I'm new to the RE franchise and I couldn't really stand the RE1 but I appreciate the details for its camera angles, it's a good game but not my cup of coffee if anything I would love for a next gen remake for it but I still think this game is good as it is despite my lack of enjoyment for the game. That's why I searched for a video like this so I can at least appreciate the game for what it is and get what the story was going for. This is a great video, it helped me understand the franchise better! I subbed.
What an amazing video! Got a sub here! Resident Evil Remake is my fav RE game and I just love all the details and the experiences I had playing it, I believe is my fav game ever as well The atmosphere immersion on this game is just mind blowing, specially if you look at some minor details: 1 • The choice of the game's difficult kinda different than what we expect a game to be • Like climbing a mountain (Normal) • Like going on a bike (Easy) • Like taking a walk (Very Easy) (Some say the first is actually the hard mode, but I consider it as the best way to experience the game so I call it "Normal") 2 • The character Selection, with different details on the badge of both characters such as: • Their signatures • Their ID number • Chris has a coin inside his wallet (I don't know what the symbol is but... It's a nice detail anyway) • Their pose facing opposite sides 3 • The intro, ah... the most beautiful intro on the series I will not enter in detail, watch it for yourself if you have never watched it, and if you've watched it, you know what I mean Just this... (Playing as Jill after the main cutscene) "Enter the survival horror. - There are only three S.T.A.R.S. members left now. Captain Wesker, Barry, and myself. We don't know where Chris is..." Ah guys... The antecipation, the immersion, the feeling of calmness reaching us after all the chaos outside, just for a few seconds before the tension rises up again due to the unsettling music starting on the background and the feeling of being at an unknown place, a huge place... A mansion... 4 • Some little different details between Chris and Jill on gameplay's animation Have you noticed that while Chris is standing or walking, he has the handgun up, and when he is running he puts it down? Jill does this the opposite way Also Chris does a little inclination on his head, and a slight movement with his right leg to the right to aim the handgun Jill on the other hand, doesn't incline her body, but she moves her right leg to the right a little bit more, compared to Chris, so she has more stability when she aims 5 • The first time you experience that strong lightning coming from outside the windows at the main lobby, dinning room or some other starting areas, showing us all the mansion's shadows details and suddenly the big thunder sound afterwards... You know, that different one... That maybe late at night got you jump scared... 6 • The sound of each step on different surfaces • Rugs • Wood floor • Water • Dirt • Glass And the dust it makes depending of the floor you're on 7 • The movement animation when you're turning your character and he/she turns stepping on the floor accordingly instead of just "float" like a 90's game And oh guys... There's a lot more For those who haven't played it yet, just keep that in mind... This is a magnum opus of survival horror games and a true piece of art My gaming life really changed after this one when I was a kid And it keeps amazing me while playing it nowadays
Jill's version of the story feels like it fits better overall with the intrigue of Barry's addition as an ambigious traitor. It really does feel like they added Rebecca to help Chris progress through the parts he couldn't get by himself lol but it has its charm, I love both sides- and Wesker's "end" in Chris' route is really great
Still the best survival horror game of all time. I’m replaying it for the first time in 15 years, on a S23 ultra at x4 resolution, with a Backbone controller. Still scary as fk when you’re in bed at night in the pitch black, and you’ve intentionally killed every zombie, and avoided burning any of them. . .just for the terror 👀
I had known of Resident Evil since I was a kid, mostly hearing about RE 5 and 6 since they where the newest but never playing any of the games, but then this last year, I started playing the RE games after a friend of mine streamed RE 7 and because she skips all the lore, I had to look up the lore and I was hooked, RE 1 was such an amazing experience that still holds up, even when compared to the remakes and the newest entries in the series.
Lol I've spent 6 hours on my blind first playthrough so far and you've covered it in the first 15 minutes. I'll come back to finish the video after i finish the game
Ohhhhhhhh okay I finally know why I was in very easy mode when I played. I chose the walk in the park because that’s how I feel when playing most games😂
same. on my first playthrough of any new video game i will always do easiest. gives me a stress free chance to learn the mechanics and rules of the game. eventually, if i enjoy the game enough, i will replay my way up to the hardest difficulty. a very rewarding system.
This game legitimately scared me. When I played it for the first time way back in highschool when it released I had a friend over and when that first crimson head flung itself to its feet I shrieked and my friend never let me live it down.
Little fun fact, when making this game, they said the GameCube was powerful enough to not need the loading door animation sequence anymore but they decided to put it in anyways because people loved that about the classic RE games.
Yes yes we already knew. Now that all these remakes are coming out, people are talking about RE1 remake like we haven't already known xD. I played RE1 remake the first week it came out on Gamecube. The immersion, the intensity was real. I'm sorry to say and I'm sure I'll get a good portion of people who disagree (and thats ok, your entitled to your opinion as am I) I'm not keeping any high hopes. They been runing there remakes in 3rd person engine and if they make it first ooooffff nope. PLEASE Capcom, do not destroy your OG! Your very original beginning of your legacy with 3rd person. Let it rest in peace in fixed camera angles.
This remake came out amazing when it first came out took a few days to beat cause I would take breaks I didn’t get the infinite rocket launcher till my adult years because I didn’t know you can win the game faster with Chris as long as your not holding any guns and not looking for things that not really important 😂😂
Lisa Trevor is probably the saddest, most tragic character in the entire RE series. I didn’t really get it when I played original RE:R on GC cause I didn’t bother with lore/story (I was an ADD-addled kid my bad) but when playing again as an adult I was shocked that RE went so far to describe/depict systematic torture and experimentation of a child. Only other game I could think of that did something similar was Alma from the F.E.A.R. series
This is a game I’ll play forever. It’s honestly the best video game ever made in its genre and probably one of the top 5 games ever made that will always have replay value . 1. Super Mario world 2. Legend of dragoon 3. Metroid prime on GameCube 4. Resident evil 1 remaster 5. Zombies are my neighbors These are my personal top 5 games that will always be a come back to and replay games .
I remember when I was younger and playing Outbreak a lot, I looked up a page on Crimson Heads and came across a wiki page that incorrectly stated Crimson Heads were created by fire. For years I tried to find that information again after someone told me it was the opposite and it drove me *nuts* but after encountering a similar inaccuracy on the Bulbapedia page for Pokemon that stated you couldn't use language origin mark in-game trades for Masuda Method shiny hunting and that page being edited down the line (went into the page's history to find it), I've finally come to the conclusion that some moron put the information on the wiki before someone else eventually removed it and replaced it with the right info. No reason to share this with anyone other than exasperation, I guess. That information has been stuck in my head for nigh on a decade now and it's always bothered me.
When I first played this game, I HATED the long drawn out door opening cinematic at first, but as I continued on in the game, the doors created so much anticipation and tension. I think it could go faster but I get why it stayed in

Always loved the systenatic thinking of RE n its moreso in Real Survivor 'gotta get that item on the way back to there but I haven't any room to pick it up, mind you there's that cock womble who needs its head removing so if I boomstick him on the way it'll allow me to reload clearing up a slot to collect the thingy' Perfect 🤣
If they do a 3 remake of Resident Evil 1, what do you want to see different in it? And what do you want to see as DLC? And do you thank Resident Evil 0 will get a remake to?
If RE1 is the Giotto of the franchise, then its Remake is the Carravagio. I played it on the Gamecube two years before the HD Remaster and… it still holds exceptionally well for a Gamecube title. Sure, the HD Remaster has its flaws due to how stretched some of the renders have been (the intro cutscene looks far better here)… but considering the technology at the time, it is incredible. I’m not a fan in how they altered some of the tracks in the HD Remaster for no reason. The Laboratory track now sounds awful, same for the Guardhouse. The Dining Room track that opens the whole game is somehow replaced. I don’t care that RE tries to be grounded in the latter games (7 and 8): I just miss the small subtle moments with the atmosphere, the slowburn of exploration… For me, this is RE at its finest and may never be surpassed unless it replicates and iterates on it. If anything, Signalis has become the new blueprint of the survival-horror genre.
@20:53 I’ve played this game countless times since launch, & I’ve never seen anyone shoot Neptune to death. I’ve only seen people push the generator into the water & electrocute him.

Does anyone remember in the original version when they were chased by the zombie dogs…they used about 5 seconds of actual live footage of actors running to the mansion. I wonder why that wasn’t included.
For me, nothing comes close to playing RE on my PlayStation for the first time, except for this. I still prefer the original, before the director cut because that was my first experience and it was so good back then
Im new to RE franchise, played remakes 2 and 3 first. That made me curious to play 1, and think it could use a fresh coat of paint. Quality of life stuff. Back tracking felt tedious at times and item management was a pain. But I think re2 is my favorite so far. But im moving to 4 next so we'll see
I’m certain 0,1 and code Veronica are going to be remade next because if we go strait to 5 we’re going to get Wesker as a big bad final boss with no back story other than the guy at the end of resident evil 4 who hired Ada

Its not overated since almost everyone in the community of horror like this game xd
Its like failing to considered a masterpiece portrait only cause there's mona lisa next to it, its kinda sad
@@elmagnificodep hahaha. This is seriously the best re, and needs a 1:1 remake.... Of the remake

I'm an old guy haha, but anyway the cool part is that I've played in the house of an older friend that happens to be in the middle of nowhere near the woods here in the countryside in the south of Brazil, and I remember the tension when we first started to see the intro...
Strength build be like
And she knows how to mix chemicals
Great point, I also like how Jill was presented in the series. Her outfit in RE3 was questionable, but her motives never were...
Those biceps come in handy when he needs to punch rocks tho
The whole thing with chris biceps is he wanted to be Is it the best physical State he could be when fighting wesker after he got his ass kicked in code veronica
31:07 literally me playing this game. idk how anyone could dislike barry, he's definitely a highlight of jill's campaign. great video!!!!
Everything down to where the cameras are facing in each frame and where the enemies are placed works alongside the control scheme to make sure that this game is never being cheap or unfair to you
It's not all that scary anymore however it still drips with atmosphere, it's creepy and unsettling even if it's not downright terrifying.
You never got to play super smash melee on GameCube ?
I know what you mean
You can make an argument for this being the greatest game ever made considering how evident it is that the developers *loved* it.
I wish we got a RE2 & RE3 remake earlier in a style of this game.
I would spend so much money on those

I've played RE Remake an embarrassingly high number of times, yet I've NEVER seen the alternate scene between Jill and Barry in the dining room at the beginning. I'm shocked!
Do you mean the one with the first zombie entering the room and Barry taking him out? I hadn't seen that scene either.
@@01100101011100100111 yep, at 3:41, that cutscene. I’ve never seen it.
Same here! I was seriously shocked, I nearly cried because any bit of extra content from my favorite game is a gift from above.
Back then, Chris was Hard Mode, Jill the Easy Mode. Thats why people choose her to play.
False, I chose Jill because I think she looked cute
I played Jill first for 3 reasons: I love playing as a strong woman because I am a woman
She has more pockets & you don't have to carry small keys
when you've played the game so much there is no real need to burn the zombies imo, even on hard mode. waste of item spaces and time burining them imo@@ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502
@@proudcanadian3564 The most unrealistic thing in this game is that the woman has more pocket room 😂
13:34 you ask, "who torn the letter?", while I ask, "How did Barry get through TWO locked doors before you?"
The first thing has already been implemented, it’s in resident evil dead aim for the ps2, although you don’t kick enemies, you just push them away or duck under
RE9 must to be an cloned ver of RE3 with Jill and Raccoon City style urban city, no more Leon, Chris and abandoned villages with castle...
Well if they make a game with Chris & Leon it will surely be an action focused game rather than a survival horror. Maybe a soft reboot? Idk if I want that but it's the only way to have a survival horror game with the og characters
I always found it funny that in Re0 billy has to play the piano cause Rebecca doesn't know how then in Re1 she magically learns to play
Well, she needs three minutes
Not sure if you know this but it was a huge surprise for me. When you 100% the game you get a message from the developers thanking you for playing. This just made me love the game even more!
One of my all time favourites. I’ve completed it just using the knife, GO ME
CQC 4TW 👍

I “pride” myself at being good at og RE games but I’m not that good. Amazing. Maybe I don’t have the balls to attempt such a feat with this game because I don’t like getting close to the zombies lol.
@@louis0187 you can do it no problem, I’m an old man and I did it. Just follow a step by step guide on RUclips and do what they did. There’s one or two tricky bits, the crimson head elder and the plant, but overall it’s pretty manageable and actually fun. Do it on easy mode though!
18:08 this is hilarious. You did a wonderful job editing and commenting on this. It’s actually brilliant.

This is actually the best Resident Evil ever made
Man, I haven't played this game in years and it's so funny being reminded of how convoluted everything in the mansion is.
Re5 with a simplified story and an a/b campaign instead of co op would be amazing
I would prefer RE 5 personally.
i don't want capcom to remake re1 remake, but they don't care about anyone options:/
re4 got remake, although it didn't need it:/
It is not.
If you consider this cubical graphic “perfect”, there is something objectively wrong with your set of eyes.
Imagine if Capcom started making RE games with fixed camera angles again. How excited would everyone be?
No😂
This game originally came out on the gamecube and it was the game with best graphics to me (by far).
It would be amazing
@corrd3ll647 bro I feel u lol & I beat re1 but..... no, 3rd person is resident evil
This needs a remake in the new style. For me, it would be far creepier searching the mansion like that.
That gamecube intro was everything ❤️💯
I will always come back to this game time and time again did it in under 5 hours recently love it even more

39:37 "The claw." 😂
imagine if we got a RE2make and RE3make like the REmake in 2002. We'd have:
- 2023 8k pre-rendered backgrounds (pre-rendered bgs have always optimized space and resources, so 8k pre-rendered bgs would definitely be possible.)
- and because of pre-rendered backgrounds, Capcom devs could focus more on making the character models even more high quality (referring back to REmake 2002's char models)
- fixed camera angles & tank controls (Imagine having Mr.X and Nemesis from RE2/RE3 chasing you thru doors but in the classic RE style, that would've been way more terrifying.)
- Original Door Loading Animations (because RE was a homage to "Sweet Home" and removing that is sort like removing RE's identity. Each door had a unique look, unique sound, and it created tension sometimes, like in Code Veronica with the heartbeats)
- Original Style Inventory Menu, Gun Sounds, Footsteps, and OST.
- Original Zombies (based off REmake 1) with the squishing bloody footstep sounds and moaning (the RE2 REimagined game had modern zombies similar to Left 4 Dead, The Walking Dead, and just overall stupid. not classic)
..... but no, instead we got a lame ass RE2 and RE3 "REimagined" atrocity. Imagine what we COULD'VE had instead....
Yeah it feels bad man.
I agree man I was so upset when they fucked up both remakes aka 2 & 3
No.
Wtf are you even advocating for?
Things become outdated for a reason.
Having gimmicky counterintuitive controls to make it more “scary” does not add anything beyond poor accessibility.
Just screw people like you, honestly
Deserving of way more attention, great job my friend.
(Chris and Rebecca in Jill’s scenario/ Jill and Barry in Chris’s scenario) It setup for the canon ending.
capcom should listen to you👍
because you are right ✅️
Hell yeah it is. I feel sorry for those who couldn't understand why this game is the best in the series.
It's always been the masterpiece of the series. If Capcom was smart, they would get back to this style.
From what i know this RE1 Remake still the best in general, its just RE2R, RE3R and RE4R that dividing the audience.

Resident Evil Remake is my fav RE game and I just love all the details and the experiences I had playing it, I believe is my fav game ever as well
The atmosphere immersion on this game is just mind blowing, specially if you look at some minor details:
1 • The choice of the game's difficult kinda different than what we expect a game to be
• Like climbing a mountain (Normal)
• Like going on a bike (Easy)
• Like taking a walk (Very Easy)
(Some say the first is actually the hard mode, but I consider it as the best way to experience the game so I call it "Normal")
2 • The character Selection, with different details on the badge of both characters such as:
• Their signatures
• Their ID number
• Chris has a coin inside his wallet
(I don't know what the symbol is but... It's a nice detail anyway)
• Their pose facing opposite sides
3 • The intro, ah... the most beautiful intro on the series
I will not enter in detail, watch it for yourself if you have never watched it, and if you've watched it, you know what I mean
Just this...
(Playing as Jill after the main cutscene)
"Enter the survival horror.
- There are only three S.T.A.R.S. members left now.
Captain Wesker, Barry, and myself.
We don't know where Chris is..."
Ah guys...
The antecipation, the immersion, the feeling of calmness reaching us after all the chaos outside, just for a few seconds before the tension rises up again due to the unsettling music starting on the background and the feeling of being at an unknown place, a huge place... A mansion...
4 • Some little different details between Chris and Jill on gameplay's animation
Have you noticed that while Chris is standing or walking, he has the handgun up, and when he is running he puts it down?
Jill does this the opposite way
Also
Chris does a little inclination on his head, and a slight movement with his right leg to the right to aim the handgun
Jill on the other hand, doesn't incline her body, but she moves her right leg to the right a little bit more, compared to Chris, so she has more stability when she aims
5 • The first time you experience that strong lightning coming from outside the windows at the main lobby, dinning room or some other starting areas, showing us all the mansion's shadows details and suddenly the big thunder sound afterwards...
You know, that different one...
That maybe late at night got you jump scared...
6 • The sound of each step on different surfaces
• Rugs
• Wood floor
• Water
• Dirt
• Glass
And the dust it makes depending of the floor you're on
7 • The movement animation when you're turning your character and he/she turns stepping on the floor accordingly instead of just "float" like a 90's game
And oh guys...
There's a lot more
For those who haven't played it yet, just keep that in mind...
This is a magnum opus of survival horror games and a true piece of art
My gaming life really changed after this one when I was a kid
And it keeps amazing me while playing it nowadays
I find it funny how the remaster came out at my birthday.
Jill's version of the story feels like it fits better overall with the intrigue of Barry's addition as an ambigious traitor.
It really does feel like they added Rebecca to help Chris progress through the parts he couldn't get by himself lol
but it has its charm, I love both sides- and Wesker's "end" in Chris' route is really great
I’ve been saying this since I played it first on GameCube. It’s my favorite of the series

This remake came out amazing when it first came out took a few days to beat cause I would take breaks I didn’t get the infinite rocket launcher till my adult years because I didn’t know you can win the game faster with Chris as long as your not holding any guns and not looking for things that not really important 😂😂
Hands down, the best Resident Evil game from an objective standpoint.
If you go into a little alcove in the cabin after hearing the door you can get a sneak peak of Lisa before the proper reveal
1. Super Mario world
2. Legend of dragoon
3. Metroid prime on GameCube
4. Resident evil 1 remaster
5. Zombies are my neighbors
These are my personal top 5 games that will always be a come back to and replay games .
People have such a boner for the RE 2 and RE 4 Remakes, but the RE 1 Remake is infinitely better.
I don’t care this will always be my favourite RE game. This game is the gold standard for survival horror.
That information has been stuck in my head for nigh on a decade now and it's always bothered me.

it is SHOCKING this remake is only SIX YEARS older than the original!! 😳
I don't know if I am the first to tell you this but the pictures on the wall at 14:30 are INDEED the key to solving this puzzle.
Everyone plays easy mode jill lol.
Chris players are real men.
There a issue for having a favorite character
Completed Real Survivor with Chris. Best mode IMO.
@@sparkshot exactly bro, you got guts of steel.
@@mel-el5862 - Backtracking heaven 😅 ... or hell.
Took most my gear to each main area, guardhouse (ok Residence now) and back etc. Gotta be done.
Ended up using one main mansion item box for most the stuff after I cleared out a safe route n mostly ignored the other side then. Always loved the systenatic thinking of RE n its moreso in Real Survivor 'gotta get that item on the way back to there but I haven't any room to pick it up, mind you there's that cock womble who needs its head removing so if I boomstick him on the way it'll allow me to reload clearing up a slot to collect the thingy'
Perfect 🤣
@@sparkshot 😂😂😂😂 re1 in a nutshell with Chris.
In the original RE1, running back to Wesker plays out the same, but the ammo spawns double~
If they do a 3 remake of Resident Evil 1, what do you want to see different in it? And what do you want to see as DLC? And do you thank Resident Evil 0 will get a remake to?
Just got a physical copy the other day for 20 bucks for ps4, pretty stoked about that… all my saved data is on Xbox though……
A room with no enemies 😂 🕷️🕸️🕷️
I don’t care that RE tries to be grounded in the latter games (7 and 8): I just miss the small subtle moments with the atmosphere, the slowburn of exploration…
For me, this is RE at its finest and may never be surpassed unless it replicates and iterates on it. If anything, Signalis has become the new blueprint of the survival-horror genre.
@20:53 I’ve played this game countless times since launch, & I’ve never seen anyone shoot Neptune to death. I’ve only seen people push the generator into the water & electrocute him.
Masterpiece is a strong word
it is not my favorite re game but it is in my top 3 for sure im one of the weirdo's that has re 2 remake on the number 1 spot to me its just perfect and suspensefull then followed by the OG re 3 just because of nemmie alone and how you can deal with him and then re 1 remake
I could play this game and Silent Hill 2 for eternity.
Does anyone remember in the original version when they were chased by the zombie dogs…they used about 5 seconds of actual live footage of actors running to the mansion. I wonder why that wasn’t included.
yes it absolutely is. One of the best games ever made imo and easily the best remake ever. Great upload mate.
good summary my man
unbelievable it is how this game in 2024 even so good looks
