The big issue isnt that RE0 is a bad game in of itself. It's the plot holes in it that makes it strange and 90% of the fanbase remain divided on.
Plot hole #1 Rebecca is a total badass in RE0, but to total Ditz in RE1, She act's like like she's never seen a Hunter before in RE1, but she fought them in RE0 and several other abominations. RE0 was originally slated to release on the N64, but capcom pulled the plug on it because the GameCube was releasing soon, RE0 and RE1 Remake were both in development at the same time for the Game Cube.
      Plot hole #2
AS you traverse the training facility you eventually ride a tram (Like in RE2) and find yourself at the Marshelling Yard (From RE2) And ride the train elevator down to a decrepit looking Umbrella lab (Same one from RE2). It's rusted all over, and looks abandoned, and like a disaster happened, however Birkins lab didn't fall until a few months AFTER the events of RE0 and RE1.
RE0/RE1 happened through July 24th to July 25th 1998, the events of Resident Evil 3 happened September 28th through October 1st 1998.
The events of Resident Evil 2 took place on September 29-30th 1998. So when Rebecca finds herself looking at the main door into the Underground lab (From RE2) why was it in a decrepit state when William Birkin wasn't attacked by Umbralla until September 28th? Throughout RE0 we see Wesker and William Birkin talking in a non disclosed location (NEST/Underground Lab from RE2).

Ok so instead of the bravo team jumping on a train while looking for Billy, imagine if its a struggle for survival in the actual forest after the chopper crashes from what is onviously sabotage. There you have intrigue, which helps Enrico come to the conclusion there is a traitor. The outdoor forest area can also explain why there are no item boxes, forcing you to just drop them instead. You can use the nearby facility to flesh out backstory(no singing leachman) and actually make the game lead full circle into the first game

you didnt explain shit, you claimed something - but left the explanation behind in some dumpster.
The OG games look horrible, whereas RE0, which you could still take for an OG title, looks miles better than the other ones.
The sound design is meh, aside from a couple of saferoom tunes (which, idk if you could put that into the sound design category) - where RE0 also clearly wins in comparison.
The characters are all completely fucking bland and badly written - RE, RE2 kinda, RE CV probably the fucking worst, holy shit, & RE3 definitely.
RE0 characters are cheesy, but at least somewhat different - not as cliché, a little random though.
Pacing is just as trash as the other ones, level design not so much - a whole lot better if you ask me, especially the starting zone.
Not to mention, billy is probably one of, if not the least annoying one out of the whole franchise after maybe leon in re4 - and most probably wont count re4 as an OG title lol

The dead giveaway is in the first introduction scene with Rebecca when he says “STARS”. The same exact way that the original nemesis did in original RE3 when he’s chasing Jill. What also backs up this theory is that Billy was a mercenary soldier and was most likely out of country when he was captured by umbrella at the end of zero. And he was the only other person left alive besides Rebecca, Jill, Chris, Barry and Wesker that knew about the Arklay Mountains secret.

and it was an amazing experience. i cannot believe people disliked it just because of the game not having magical item boxes which were never needed. because you could drop items on the ground anywhere and pick them up again.
so not being an idiot. making a convenient hub location where dropped items would be was an obvious decision. instead of them being scattered around. makes sense to do.
the map even shows your where items you found and dropped are. so it isn't like it is possible to lose things!
god tier game design. finally actually being a survival game.
the backtracking was never an issue. as someone who actually played the game intelligently. it wasn't even a minor inconvenience. it is part of the survival that i sign up for when playing a survival horror game.

I'd like to point out the differences between Rebecca in this game and RE1. Rebecca after the events of this game must not only be suffering from serious sleep deprivation and malnutrition. The adrenaline she had during RE0's events must have worn off by the time she got to the mansion, thinking she will be safe from the horrors plus it's plausible that she spent all of her ammo and lost her combat knife by the time she got inside the mansion. And there's also the fact that RE1 canonically takes place 5 days after RE0 meaning Rebecca is seriously sleep deprived (if you know how bad sleep deprivation fucks you up, you'd get it) and extremely hungry.

    • @DeadPixel1105
      @DeadPixel1105 7 месяцев назад +1

Also, as has been reported by many combat veterans in real life: the mental affects from the horrors they've witnessed take effect AFTER the action is over. During the action, their adrenaline is pumping and their mind is solely focused on surviving. It's only AFTER the action has died down, when they have the time to reflect on the things they've seen and experienced. That is when PTSD symptoms begin to show. That's when it begins to eat away at them mentally and emotionally. During combat, they were operating just fine. But afterward, they're breaking down mentally and emotionally.
Same thing applies to Rebecca in the RE 0 and RE 1 plot. Just my own personal view on it though.

I agree with the title. I never hated Resident Evil 0. A lot of people disrespect Rebecca but I don't really get it. I don't see what's wrong with her as a character. I like her as much as Jill and Claire.

Same she’s young, ambitious, brave but very green in the field. I thought her character fit the role of the rookie in need of proving her skills amongst her seasoned teammates went well. And she’s sexy her in the remake universe would look so good.

Watching this brought back so many good memories, and some bad ones (stupid monkeys!). I’ve always had a soft spot for Rebecca, I really hope she’s in RE9.
You’re much more daring a player than I am, I struggle leaving enemies alive, which makes boss fights a bit harder as I have like no ammo 😂

(The gang is relaxing after the events of Death Island telling stories of their actions)
Rebecca: And that's how Billy and I escaped the umbrella facility. Man I miss Billy, I hope he's ok on the run.
Leon: Hold on I have an idea. *makes a phone call and walks away*
Chris: If Billy is anything like us and can survive a hell scenario I'm sure he's fine.
*Leon walks back and rejoins the group*
Leon: Ok I called the President, Billy has been given a full pardon. They've now reopened a search and are gonna find him, they'll call you if they locate him, I'm sure he'd be happy to hear the news from you Rebecca instead of some suit.

I'm not sure I remember the steps correctly, but you can have Billy unequipped and set to attack+idle for the boss first final boss fight and he'll run around in circles distracting the queen leech as long as you keep a healthy distance while following from behind to shoot safely

Looking back, the one thing that didn't make sense was Rebecca had trouble playing the piano in 0, but helps out Chris in re1 playing the piano. I liked RE0 more back when it can out. Playing it again now just didn't age well with me. I still like the game, just too tedious when it comes to handling your items without the item box.

    Great Video.
A little too late to say it, but if you leave Rebecca with the Hookshot, you can run pass that leech-man you had trouble with (at minute 30), and return safely to the upper floor, (you can safely leave the hookshot and pick up equipment in that room) and go down the stairs; the leech-man must have followed you before, so when you get down he'll be far enough to give you plenty of time to escape on the tram.

This was my first RE game. And I say that as someone who entered late into the series.
It's the one I've been weirdly fascinated with, whether it's the black sheep of the series or something else, I have no idea.
Playing it, I didn't hate it, but the item management and amount of backtracking was fairly annoying.
Surprisingly, I only died once and it wasn't even by a boss.
I kept health items on me at all times (except when I had to carry key items to avoid backtracking).
I ended up eventually abandoning the starting pistols near the end of the game, once I got the magnum, while still carrying the shotgun and the grenade launcher.
Overall, I enjoyed it for what it is and I can see a remake improving it, which is apparently in development, but that could just be a rumor.

What i liked about RE0 was the outbreak. Which played into RE1. Which we thought Wesker did it but was the person he had murdered. And blowing up the Mansion in both didn't real solved the Zombies and Dogs that remind in the forest. If the G-virus didn't get until the water system for sure the Zombies and dogs would be out looking for fresh human meat to munch on.
Also i loved that there was no item boxes. It made feel more survival. Oh RE0 has more ammo, you can clear every room in the game. I believe i there was max you can carry in a item slot for handgun ammo.
I remember i had 2 slot of handgun ammo by the end of the game. You can basically beat the game with handgun ammo if you want to challenge yourself.
Other then that RE0 is a very fun game to play.

I liked this game better than a lot of RE games, particularly the (unnecessary) Revelations games. But I'm not gonna lie it's a DIFFICULT game through and through, I don't mind the story because it links to the Umbrella founding members and Wesker/Birkin taking out Marcus (foreshadowing to Birkin's fate). I think the major problem with the game is the pacing honestly, and the different difficult areas that require you to use both players. Oh ya and can't forget about those white monkeys (forget their names). It's too bad they didn't have foresight and have a Wesker mode in which you play as Wesker escaping the facility and running into Proto Tyrant and Sergei Vladimir (with his two 'perfected Tyrant-00) on his way out.
The one thing I really have to complain about is the geographical inconsistency with ending up by NEST in Raccoon City. It was such a far distance, it made no sense. I don't buy that it was just an IDENTICAL blueprinted facility. I get that Spencer liked using the same blueprints multiple times (the mansion's main entrance area for example...3 games), but I think this can just be chalked up to artist liberties. The entire story ALMOST made sense up until The Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles games but ya, unfortunately, they had little things like that. Overall you can pretty much make a story out of REmake, RE2, RE3, Resident Evil Survivor, RE: CV, RE0, RE: Outbreak, RE4, and those two rail games.
I'm happy to hear about the new remakes...but why in the world did they choose THAT person to voice act Wesker in RE4 exactly? He sounds NOTHING like any version of Wesker we've heard, and that's especially troubling considering how popular the character was and his voice was always a big part of that I feel like. Hell, he got his own short movie he narrated in character as part of the Playstation 2 version of Code Veronica. I personally like Code Veronica (as far as "generally disliked by fans" games in the series). Something about it was more fun, I liked a lot of the story as a whole and it was just a fun game...despite it also being hard (in my opinion).
