It's interesting to note that the 'bad' ending for Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is actually the canonical one. Instead of sacrificing himself to cleanse the Pillar of Balance, and save the world of Nosgoth, he embraces his vampiric curse, and decides to rule the place. Which is incredibly cool, because it meant we got 4 sequel games to play in Nosgoth.
Not only that, but it the later, Awesome games, show yhat the original 'good' ending was actually a bad ending itself. Lol was going to comment about LOK myself but saw your post ❤️
I'm not surprised about the Earthworm Jim one. I'm sure the "Developer" was the creator Doug Tenaple, who love putting random stuff like that in his games. A PC game of his that came out not long after EWJ was "The Neverhood" not only is there a weird "bad ending," there's a loooooong hallway you have to walk through for ages. it has huge blocks of writing on the walls that you can stop and read that is basically a novel of backstory/religious text of the whole made up game universe.
Snake and Otacon's friendship was my favorite ship in the entire series. Their bro handshake in MGS2 was top tier! Also, "People die" is the biggest understatement to ever come from Otacon, who can't go an entire game without someone he loves dying.
This is slightly unrelated to the point, but their bro handshake is apparently based on the Konami Code. I guess some of Otacon's nerdiness rubbed off on Snake after all.
Hate to say it but since i never saw space odyssey when I was younger, the Hal and Dave thing never clicked, played through it for memories last year and laughed my ass off at realizing what I missed.

If you submit to the torture, meaning Meryl dies at the end, you get the objectively cooler Stealth Camouflage.
@Gabriel Lopez de Azua Well, one let's you sneak through the place without being seen. The other let's you make sure there is no one left to do the seeing.
Streets of Rage is a Japanese game. Most concept of alternate endings or multiple routes are influenced by visual novels there. Usually anything not considered the true ending is called a BAD END, in English, in VNs, except endings where you die, which are called a DEAD END. Plenty of VNs have BAD ENDs with happy endings, often happier than the true ending.
Was expecting to see Catherine on here and was surprised it wasn’t. The “Bad Ending” in that game sees u as the ruler of hell, useing the devil as a foot stool and married to his daughter. Talk about badass. Oh and what happens in the good ending... oh that right a boring wedding in a bar....... woooooo I guess.... (bad ending all the way)
That's not the bad ending though, just the chaos one. The bad endings happen when you try and make up with the girl who's the opposite side of your karma meter: they kick Vincent to the curb and he's left all dejected.

@@1000MilesAway - there’s no canon ending to any Dark Souls game. The first game can continue on into the sequels regardless, due to the cycle of Fire and Dark (because someone can kill you and link the fire anyway later). Same with DS2. Cole McGrath becoming the Beast in inFamous 2. The Hero of Oakvale becoming a demonic overlord in Fable. Emily Kaldwin growing up to be a tyrannical empress in Dishonored. Jonathan Reid becoming unstoppable underground ruler of London in Vampyr. Starkiller Being replaced with a badass sith clone in Force Unleashed 2.
Carrie's bad ending in Castlevania 64. You get a heartwarming scene with the big bad that you wouldn't know it's the big bad unless you've gone through the good ending before or know some latin. And then you read the dialogue with all the implications of it. Still haunts me to this day.
With Metal Gear Solid the Otacon ending was so much better. Snake reacting to Meryl's death was an incredible scene with great acting. It also showed Snake has a human side.
No mention of Lord Corvo the Black? Dishonored 2 has some gnarly endings, but I’d say the coolest is Corvo becoming ruler of the Isles through brute force, cutting down all his opponents and living with the stone corpse of his daughter beside his thrown, a constant reminder of his past failures, bringing him determination to never let his enemies rise again.
All the high chaos endings of dishonored are better then the low chaos endings. The high chaos endings just work perfectly with the tone of the game and the low chaos endings feel out of place. The entire game you're shown the isles to be a nightmare dystopia so the perfect low chaos ending completely removes all suspension of disbelief. Corvo really got the better story in dishonored 2. His complacency is what led to Jessamine being killed, Delilah invading dunwall, and duke Abele's tyranny. Corvo had close to 15 years to prepare and he pretty much just sat around do nothing the entire time.
@@MrGhosta5 i like the low chaos ending of dishonored more because i think is quite nice how some character respect you for not killing everyone, i do think that is quite awesome how the final boss betrays you instead of just letting you walk away, still the bad ending is far more realistic

In the streets of rage bad ending, it can actually be considered a good ending (by that I mean morally righteous) as if you just destroy/force the syndicate to disband, there will be a power vacuum that another gang will fill up. If you become the leader of the organisation, you can destroy the root source of the crimes and save the city permanently.
Mass murder of one of the largest US states, which if it were a sovereign nation, it would rank as the world's fifth largest economy, ahead of India and behind Germany. So you want to destroy the US then?
In Dragon Quest 1, the Dragonlord offers the Hero rulership over half the world before the final boss fight. If you accept his offer, you get a Game Over. However, that bad ending is actually the canon backstory of Dragon Quest Builders. One of the bosses in DQB is the Hero from DQ1, now referred to as Fallen Hero: The King of Darkness.
That creepy red and black screen is still burned into my retinas! I think in later versions of the game if you accept the Dragonlord's offer, you wake up back in the first town of the game and the innkeeper will tell you it was just a nightmare.
I like how Vader just kinda stands there while Palpatine and Starkiller force duel. He's just like, "should I help you, or kill the rebels, or scramble fighters to kill the rebel ship? Nah I think I'll just stare and let this play out."
Gotta Say, the Bad ending with the priest in Mafia 3 is easily the best ending, it's both hilarious, badass, and files in critical details for the story
I do think it could’ve been better, hear me out: we see Lincoln step out of the plantation and light a cigarette, eager to start running his new empire. Suddenly a shot rings out and he flinches in pain, then looks down to see a bullet hole in his chest rapidly pumping blood out. Lincoln goes for his sidearm as a reflex, but is shot again, this time in the leg. He drops to one knee and starts firing wildly, demanding his attacker show themselves, but another shot hits him in the neck. He falls prone, and as he lays there bleeding out, staring up at the night sky, Father James suddenly enters his view, holding his old M1 Garand. The preacher looks down sadly as Lincoln is slowly hit with the realization that he’s become just another monster like Sal, and that he only has himself to blame for this. Father James mutters "God forgive me", then walks off, leaving Lincoln to bleed out, alone. Thoughts?

With inFamous it's actually a pretty good representation I think: evil is easy, satisfying, and certainly destructive, whereas good is difficult, frustrating at times, and all for a chance that things might go well, leaving you unable to see the fruits of your struggle come to pass.
KOTOR I’s good ending: congrats on singlehandedly defeating the bad guys! Here’s some medals and that’s about it. KOTOR I: “bad” ending: you’ve reclaimed your rightful place as emperor, with the star forge under your command and get the hot girl slavishly devoted to you on the side I know which choice I made first

My brother got the Cuphead bad ending by accident while we were playing, because we died so often and he was button mashing through the cutscene to try again. TLDR: Button mashing and accidentally agreed to sell our souls.
In Charlie Murder, if you don't collect all of the parts to trigger the Good Ending, and you end up killing Paul, the credits plays a flashback of Charlie and Paul's backstory.
I dont think it is though. Because Meryl dies in that ending. She shows up in 4. Otacon is not shown dying in this ending either and presumably escapes on his own to meet up with Snake again at a later date. So while Otacon presumably survives both endings, Meryl does not so only one can be canon.
Very much yes, and I still replay it for the sith stalker armor whenever I get the craving to be a total boss with mega force powers just slamming every empire chump I see!!! :)
You’re supposed to find a water chip for your vault. If you don’t do that within the time limit, everyone in the vault dies and you as well, the game’s last frame is of your skeleton in the middle of the desert.
If you take too long during the final battles, then you get the other OTHER ending where Vegnagun fires and blows up the world from the inside. It's not exactly a "cooler" ending, but perhaps one that the people of Spira deserved, considering "the Eternal Calm" lasted all of two years before those chumps started waging war on each other again.
You forgot to mention that, with the otacon ending, you get his stealth suit for your next playthrough. Which is awesome! With Merryl you only get the unlimited ammo bandana.
We never beat Streets of Rage back one the Mega Drive days because my sister refused to cooperate against Mr. X. We weren't good enough to beat the game on our own and fighting each other would wear you down too much for the already difficult follow up fight.
James Cameron’s Avatar the game: the RDA ending is arguably the bad ending, the game even tries to give you a chance to change sides at the end, buuuut you get a shotgun so...win?

For anyone planning on picking up Soul Nomad after watching this, first you should its a great game and second you should keep a back up save because its possible to become to strong and thus be unable to actually lose the fight your supposed to lose locking you out of about 90% of your new game+ gameplay.
Shadow Hearts: Covenant had the...weird...ending, wherein the female lead travels back in time, falls in love with your dad, and has a kid (you) with him, whom she names after her first love (again, you).
And you go back to the start of the first game- there's a theory that the difficulty of getting the good ending of the first game and the time travel aspect of the good ending of the second (the time travel one, actually) which is based on the bad ending of the first means that Yuri was stuck in a time loop until he got the triggers right for the good ending in the first game.
Let's look at Shadow the Hedgehog, a game with ten endings outside of the, "true," ending. Three of them (Semi-Dark Hero, Neutral Dark, and Neutral Hero) all end with Shadow karate-chopping Eggman to death. And three more (Pure-Dark Dark, Semi-Dark Dark, and Pure-Hero Dark) end with Shadow allying fully with Black Doom and defeating Sonic once and for all.

Which is incredibly cool, because it meant we got 4 sequel games to play in Nosgoth.
Not only that, but it the later, Awesome games, show yhat the original 'good' ending was actually a bad ending itself.

Snake and Otacon's friendship was my favorite ship in the entire series. Their bro handshake in MGS2 was top tier!
Also, "People die" is the biggest understatement to ever come from Otacon, who can't go an entire game without someone he loves dying.
All Snake would need to say is "where's Sniper Wolf?" and he would have been crying all over again
This is slightly unrelated to the point, but their bro handshake is apparently based on the Konami Code. I guess some of Otacon's nerdiness rubbed off on Snake after all.

Most of these just come down to "Better for the protagonist, worse for literally everyone else in the world", which like... fine, I guess?

Commit mass murder, become king.
