I used to have mine in an parrot coop. Plenty of space. But my Chin was an escape artist. He managed to open the cage on his own so we and to put padlocks on all hatches.
This really helped a lot. My friend has a chinchilla so I did some research for him before but now my moms getting me 2 so this really helped!! Thank you ❤❤
I have a question: i have one 3yo chinchilla male and i want to get him a friend. The thing is, he is missing fingers on his left paw and im afraid the other chinchilla will kill him because of it. We just bought two gerbiles this week and one of them had an eye infection and next thing i know the healthy one had eaten half of its friends head, brain and eyeball included. I really dont want my chinchilla to meet the same fate so is it safe to get him a friend or should i keep him alone?
Chinchilla should be in an area between 60°F (15C) and 75°F (24C). Also, always have a cooling pad for them something like a marble slab in the fridge just incase your temperature goes high than 75F. If your home is on the warm side don't let your Chinchilla play and run around until it cools down. You can add ice to their water as well.
Zoo keeper here! I take care of 3 chinchillas; they tend to use the bathroom a lot so it's recommended to keep their cage as a clean as possible since moisture from their poop and urine can cause mats in their fur if they come in contact with it for a prolonged period of time. That being said, you can get away with cleaning their tray/bedding every few days to a week. I'd recommend a deep clean at least once a week, but you can spot clean and sweep up any fecal you see as needed depending on the type of cage you're using. :) Hope that helps a little, I'd consider finding a chinchilla care website or forum to ask around if you have more questions.
@@sadiezepeda3490 Omgg thank you so much!!! Cuz I’m think I’m planing to get one soon!! And I go on trips 2 times a year and I’m usually gone for a week!!! So thank you this helps so much thank you!!
Chinchilla cages need to be cleaned fully at least once per week. This includes changing the bedding and washing water bottles and food bowls. Thanks for your query. Stay connected for more.
You should sweep out their cage of poop and hay at least once a day. If you are using a pill-free fleece (which is recommended over any other type of bedding)you can change it from every other day to once a week.
Chinchilla loves the premium mixture of tasty ingredients contains all necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals that your pet needs to live a carefree life full of vitality.
If you are in an area that sells it one of the best foods you can buy is Oxbow Essentials. It has the best amount of nutrition than most other Chinchilla food brands. Never give your Chinchilla fruit or vegetables they cannot regulate their sugar or properly break sugar down. If you live in the US you can give them Plain Cheerios as treats but rarely. Cheerios in the UK have too much sugar. They can eat dried rose hips and dried rose petals, dried chamomile flowers, dried mint leaves, dried mint flowers, and dried cornflowers as treats in moderation.
I imagine they meant muesli, but the AI voice wasn't able to pronounce it correctly. It's just that in a human muesli mix you get sugar and other ingredients unsuitable for a chinchilla.
Thank you so much for making this video If you didnt male this then I wasnt allowed to get a chinchilla for my next birthday I hope my parents will approve now though😭 ( wish me luck on getting on )
Do you have to get two chinchillas to keep them happy? I dont have a chinchilla yet but im asking for future references. Also, wat is everything that they can eat. and was is considered as a treat for them?
Technically speaking a chinchilla is an exotic animal so you'd have to take it to an exotic veterinarian. They would be more trained to deal with spay and neutering a chinchilla then your standard veterinarian would be. Because exotic veterinarians strictly do deal with exotic animals. That's your snakes your lizards reptiles or amphibians. Your chinchillas your ferrets your guinea pigs hamsters. Those are considered Exotics even the Birds are considered exotic pets. So exotic veterinarian is needed if you want to have your animal fixed. Your standard veterinarian that deals with dogs and cats is not going to be able to spay and neuter your chinchillas or any of your exotic animals. They're not trained to do that. The Exotic veterinarian would be the one trying to do with that. Same thing with Aquatic Life you need an aquatic veterinarian
That wasn't even a ferret. Pretty sure was a mongoose and that is not anything like a chinchilla and only kinda like owning a ferret even. Maybe you should to your research first
My mom bred these guys for years. I use to sneak them into high-school art cause rhe art teacher loved to draw them. I would say with the handling.. I had a girl we named dixie devil...we held her as a baby everythjng. She still peed on me when i tried tk hold her as an adult...sometimes u get feisty chinchins

I don't know about that one chinchillas being the cutest pet you can have. I mean bunny rabbits lop eared bunny rabbits are freaking adorable. Gerbils are quite cute as well. So are hedgehogs with all their prickly bits. But if you're speaking rodents. I happen to be very fond of hamsters cuz I am a hamster mom. But I am kind of going from hamster to possibly a bigger hamster and then do something a little larger. I'm working my way up from small to bigger. To see if I can afford it or not. I currently have a dwarf turbo hamster he's a little boy hamster and he smells like corn chips which is kind of gross. He sent marking everything. He is actually my third hamster and my smallest hamster I've had. My first hamster had cancer and I had to have her euthanized my second hamster had a spinal injury and I had her euthanized. Now I have my little boy hammy. And he's just thinking adorable.

Is it possible To only get 1 chinchilla?
How much are they usually and where do you get them?
I'm going to petco to pick mine up. About $200-$300
Do I have to get a like a 3 layer cage you showed in the video or is that just for 2 chinchillas because I am only getting 1
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! ✨
No, just get whatever you think is the best for your chinchilla. Just make sure it is bigger than a hamster cage.

You mentioned that chinchillas do not like musil mix. What is that?
I’m pretty sure it’s just a food mix but idk

would a glass cage work?
As per our recommendation, glass cages will a bit risky and fragile for them unless the glass is made of the thickest layers!

How does this animal survive in the wild if it 🌧? 🤔 honest question.
They have their own way to survive just like you do with your surroundings!

Se pronuncia chinchiya.
The only reason I might not be getting chinchilla is that it's super hot on India.
Understandable! Chinchillas are more comfortable in cooler environments, so it's important to consider their needs in a hot climate like India

No you didn’t show a meerkat as a ferret

My chin will not eat anything fresh like vegetables, and fruits.
