Can they have hamster food because I’m a first time that I have a rat can I have hamster food cause I don’t wanna accidentally get a hamster food without knowing
Im just wondering about something, so I own an outdoor cat who obviously comes inside my house but I’ve been thinking of getting a rat recently, would it be safe to get one?
Oh my god that's what happened to me!! My mum went to go get me rats and instead of coming back with two, she came back with three triplets because they gave her the third baby free ^^
@Un welcomeend yes pretty much, however it depends where you get them, if they are from a breeder they are usually bred for health and longevity, but if you get them from a pet shop they might be slightly smaller. X

Depends how old you are. I got my very first just as my last year of high school was ending. And remember that you need 2 or more rats. They need over an hour of play time out of the cage each day. You will also spend an hour-ish at least once a week cleaning. And some time each day too feed them, check their water. I know it's hard but they might have another reason why they don't want to get rats. You jus have to trust them. You can always get rats when you move out 🐭💕
Are sphynx cats an option for you? Or maybe wait until you move out? Rats only live for a few years so I mean.... maybe waiting until adulthood is something you should think about.
Wow this is really helpful! I’m hoping to welcome some rats into my family soon and I’m trying to do as much research as I can (I’m loving researching rats and writing in my notebook) and this video was *very* informative and fun! Thank you!
I just got my first two 10 minutes ago, going to go on a youtube binge to find out what they're all about. I hate that they only live for 2-3 years, ugh.
Congrats on becoming a rat parent! Also good on you for doing some research! I hope they settle in well! Yeah that's really the only downside to ratties
i feel kinda bad liking that they live for a short time... it’s the reason why rats and hamsters are my favorite pets. it’s just reassuring to me because if something happens (moving, going to college) i don’t have to worry about a pet that lives for more than five years, and i know that i will be able to care for the pet their entire life... it’s just personal preference i guess.

Half a year a ago ish, I was really into getting pet rats I had everything prepared and my family were okay with it. Apart from the fact we never ended up getting the rats because fuel is a thing, and travelling is a thing. Maybe one day.. Oh and I wish they would rename tame rats because the connotation of the word rat is awful for alot of people.
I'm getting one for my birthday, as my dog always falls asleep with my friend's rat , they are cuddle buddies, it is unusual but adorable, and she made me fall in love with rats and taught me her 10 years of experience. it will also help me with my anxiety and depression as iv heard that rats can be a sort of service animal to a degree
hey lauren, i know you might not see this, but i would like to share this anyways. you are my role model, my #1 inspiration. i'm going through a rough patch in my life currently, but watching you makes it all better. i appreciate how you love all of your subscribers and how you communicate with them. you are an amazing person and my all time favorite youtuber. keep on doing what you're doing! bye!
I see everything! This is honestly the sweetest thing. I've been feeling a little down the last few days so this means the world to me. Thank you for being in the fam 💕I hope you're doing okay, I'm here for you if you need anything.
I just got to rats (females) i of course did LOTS and LOTS of research before i got them and Im seriosly in love with them. They’re called peanut and pepper. Pepper is VERY active and loves to explore where as Peanut is very chill and LOVE to sleep and treats i adopted them in China (my mom works here) from a very bad situation and honestly there just my babies😌♥️ BTW Pepper is hairless
I had two albino rats and they hair naturally red eyes and pink noses one of them I could have curl up in a ball and hide their tail and it would be a little snow ball, so that's what we named her, the other one was Katrina cuz she was constantly destroying stuff
I am about to get my first rats and I was listening to your videos before I went to meet the rats. The woman at the shelter was impressed with all of my research. thank you so much. I will be getting them in a few days after I get the cage, build and furnish it
My dad really hates rats, but only for their appearance (the tail), so I'm trying to get him to trust me that rats are the perfect pet for me! My mom's sister had rats growing up, so she will be easier to convince! I'm trying to learn everything I can about rats so that once I get one I can be ultra prepared! Thanks for posting this, because it is very helpful for new-er rat lovers, like me!
Aw I hope your able to convince them! Their tails are super cute, as he will learn, a little bit different to what the media/movies portray them as. They have soft little furs. Good on you for doing research before getting them! Glad you found this helpful
My dad also hates rats (he thinks their disgusting) but my mom.and my dad have two different houses, today is Christmas, and apparently I'm getting two rats next week!! I'm doing as much research before then.
I had my rat Bradly like 17 years ago and still miss him so much😢 He was so nice, loved me as much as I loved him🥰 he was roaming free most of the time, he was very smart I know he understood me and sometimes he would even go to bed with us (my brother and I) behind my moms back of course😂😂😂 some of my best memories❤️❤️❤️ thank you for sharing this🥰
I am planning on getting 3 rats for myself when I move into a different house!! I am going to spend a lot of my money and spoil them!!! I'm watching lots of videos just so I can help them have the best life ever!!
I just got 4 pet rats (all boys) and they are honestly amazing! I am so thankful for videos like these because they help me out so much when I’m learning about how they’re working 😂
I have a good breeder where I live and I’m saving up 100$ so I can afford them but I’m researching before getting them. Also I’m a vegetarian so I have tons of fruits and veggies.
I would honestly rescue one from a feed store, it may not be the best choice for some, but you're saving a life and breaking the cycle of it becoming food. I rescued my baby from a feed store he was being eaten by the adult rats on his head i just couldn't leave him there :(
me and my friend group have an inside joke on rats. i'm considering buying one tbh. my friends would probably cry in happiness if they got a text from me saying "i got a rat" very helpful video, i'm looking into purchasing one!
I have just got 2 new baby rats. One of my rats is sneezing abit and has a wet nose. What should I do about it’s it’s my first time having rats and this video was very helpful.
Aw sorry to hear, I'd take him/her to the vet. Sometimes it might be stress of moving into a new home but other times the sneezing is a sign of respiratory issues. xx
I know this is an older vid,but I am getting rats soon and I got a great cage for only €50!I suggest always looking on secondhand websites and you might get lucky, just be sure to check out the description and such first. The cage I got is a ferplast furat plus and it even came with some accessories from the previous owner.Always wipe down your cage with pet safe disinfectant if you get one secondhand, just in case.
I’m rescuing two rats tomorrow off Craigslist.Their previous owner had them in a filthy 20 gallon tank that has a tank topper cage on top. Poor boys had no toys or chews and where eating Kaytee food. I hope to give them the best life possible, I have their new cage up full of climbing toys and hammocks and foraging toys. And they are gonna switched over to oxbow rat food. Glad there is so many good RUclipsrs out there that are teaching people about rat care, thank you!
I am 14 and I've been talking to my mom about getting rats. I already know a breeder I could buy from. I am thinking of Just buying a used cage, because I don't know if I'll have more rats after them. My mom hates rats though but I love them so much that I might still get them!
Aw good you've found a breeder and talking with your mum 💗 Used cages can help save money! You can always get a couple of rats and decide later on if you'd like more after your first few
you’re me watching this at 12:23 am owning a hamster but wanted a rat in the beginning but you dad didn’t want one so your hamster hates you and bites you and now you’re here regretting not getting one but then again my dad.
I'm getting two or three male rats soon! We're ordering a large wire cage off of eBay and I'm planning to buy some hammocks, wooden chew toys and things for them to climb on. I'm really excited :D
i just got a rat today i wished i watched your video first i got a male fancy rat from pet smart and now i’m seeing about cages they gave me a tiny cage and he is big
I’m thinking of convincing my mom to get me a rat once we move into a bigger house and I have my own room. It’s a secret right now, my last hamster didn’t go well(I didn’t care for her enough and eventually gave her up), but I feel like I’ve matured a lot and I’m researching it now. This video helped, thanks!
Aw sorry to hear about the hamster. But it's a good sign that you are doing research! Make sure you get 2 or more rats though 🐭 they need to live together. You're welcome x
Lauren Elloise I always put a towel down and one of their hammocks from their cage with some food and chew toys and a box so they feel safe Peach just is really rambunctious and loves being on my shoulders and trying to nest in my hair
I foster cats for my local shelter, but they just rescued a large number of rats that need foster homes. I've told them I can take some in, but have absolutely no experience with rats. Very happy to find this series!
I love rats, but I have a hamster and I love it, and don’t want to get rid of it. I also have other questions, too. On average, how much does it cost to get a rat including the cage, food, and toys. Thanks for answering if anyone does
Aw a hamster! Cute! 🐹 I think on average, in Australian dollars, it's about $100 or so for a cage, $20 per rat (you must get two or more), $50 for some toys, $300 aside for medical bills, and food isn't that expensive. I also in addition to rat food, I'd make fresh fruit/veggies every day.
Hi I am getting 3 rats next month I am fully educated on rats just because your videos I think you so much I really do need more information but I am fully committed to give them a proper life and you are so amazing I watch your videos every day you’re beautiful and I love the way that you express yourself thank you love you
Thanks so much! Glad you found this useful. That's a really good point. I haven't tried making any, I've just bought them. My rats liked empty boxes, hammocks, toilet rolls bent closed with treats hidden inside, tissue/wrapping/shredded paper etc
I am watching this video because I am really considering getting a pair of rats when I get done with college and have my own place, but I have to pause to just say how adorable your rats are!! They look so sweet and adorable.
ack- update! i managed to convince my parents to get me a rat before my birthday. smart, i know. now i have a black and white fancy rat named sir cheddar :)
Me: *considering getting rats because of how cuddly and social they are* Also me: *has kinda a phobia of mice/rats when they show up in my house* Oof...
I feel you but it's so different to be bonded with a rodent than it is to see a wild one. I love my hamster and my friend's rats but wild rats/mice just scare the shit outta me.
Hi! I’m planning on getting three male rats but my mums worried they will smell - do you know if they do or not because I haven’t heard anything about that!
If you keep the cage clean and bathe them when the odor gets strong(er) (I used baby shampoo) it's not a problem. They don't stink 1/10 as much as the same number of mice.
I got my rats from a breeder but I feel that I can't really spend as much time as I should be but I do try. They are litter trained and they have chewed all their fleece. I am going to get them a more toys but I promised my mum that I won't sell them but I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. I feed them pellets (and fruit and veg every week or so because I did its better in the aspect of runny poop🤢😂) I have one albino and one just normal they are both dumbos but my normal dumbo is sneezing so I'm not sure what to do??? Any advice on these thing would be greatly appreciated! ❤
Try cardboard boxes! They will love to hide and chew those. Just make sure you put new ones in every week. Your rats will be okay if you are letting them out for play time at the minimum of an hour a day. If you are concerned about the sneezing, I suggest seeing a vet because it can be a sign of a respiratory problem. But also have a read of this 💗 www.rmca.org/Articles/respir.htm
I have a cage at home I want to use for rats when I am able to get them, and was worried that it might be a bit small, that calculator said I could house up to 4 rats so thats a HUGE relief! Thanks for including it in here!
My one friend got a rat from a pet shop because he was all alone, feed a pet shop deit, really sick and was the runt of the letter. He was so sad as well. 😭
No matter how sad an animal looks, don’t but from a pet store. Sure your friend saved that rat but now the supply is low and the demand went up so all the pet store will do is put another rat in the same position.
Ive had a Dumbo rat for two years, and im watching this to help my sisters understand. Theyre 9, and love our rat. I'm surprised hes still here, but we love him :)
How did you make your playpen? I’m currently looking after my sisters rats while she’s at university. There are 6 males but one problem is getting them out to play. I also have a cats and dogs so when I do get them out I have to be watching for my dogs and cats while making sure the rats do not run away. What’s the best thing to use to keep them ‘contained’ but still have a good space to run in?
I used corflute (a plastic board that I cut into 600mm high pieces). But you can also get mesh dog play pens that work just as well! When my rats were young they would jump out sometimes. It's just part of what they do at a younger age. Maybe try to let them out for play time in a room where you can close the door. You'd have to make sure they can't get stuck under furniture or eat wires but a room is a good idea x
Unfortunately today I couldn't find a rat breeder so had to buy from a pet store and yeah that is accurate, zero care when handling the little babies, he picked them up by their tails and dropped them into a box, then taped it closed with no holes for air/ventilation. Absolutely unacceptable, im glad I got my sweet babies so at least those 2 are now treated much better
I love how i still watch these videos even though i have already had two, well-trained rats. It's been a while and I am getting more in a month or 2 so ig i need to refresh my memory.
I can't wait to have my own place to live so I can get rats I've wanted them for years but could never afford to keep them because I would want to give them the best of everything! Love these videos, keep up the great work! they will be saved in my 'watch later' for about three years so i can rewatch when im finally getting my own rats! :)
I made a bad mistake before when I had rats...I never spent any time with them but now I have 2 rats and everyday I find time to play with them thanks to your videos! :)
was looking at this for ideas. Someone has been putting rats in my rather large flower garden for some time. One thing you might use. I have marginals in containers and these animals scoopo ut the soil to get collected water. You might try putting a container of wet sand to see if they do that. I have a big scallop from a discarded fountain. I filled it with various mosses and kept it very moist. They shredded the moss right after I added some bluets. I keep it drier now. You might try getting some fresh moss.
My girlfriend and I are hoping to adopt rats when we move out of our no-pets-allowed apartment, and this has been super helpful! thank you so much for this!! :) Also wanted to note that the link to the rat cage calculator in the description doesn't work anymore (the domain seems to be sold), in case you wanted to update or remove it! 🐀💙
Thanks this is helpful! I want to gets rats in a few years (my parents are questionable if I can get one now or not) and I wanted to make sure they get the best care and I have done good research so they will be happy and healthy in there forever home :)
Aw yay! Pet rats should already be 'tame' but they may be a little bit shy. You can help them learn to trust you by playing with them every day, feeding them treats from your hands, picking them up often, cuddling, putting an old shirt of yours in their cage so they get used to your smell 🐭
When one of my rats got cancer it struggled to move due to a lump on its belly and the other rat used to collect food for the other rat and even fed her as he knew she couldnt move to find food.very interesting little creatures not sure why anyone would be scared of them they are harmless. Very nice to see the person hosting this is a women and likes rats thumbs up
My mom and the cat went crazy, but I'm an adult I don't give a rat's ass! I bought it right away so will have to get some cage. My mom said it has to stay in my room 😂 my rat will need some time to adapt. She's really wild and my cat is 50% curious 50% scared
Hello! I really like your videos! I'm not sure if you'll be able to see this comment but I just wanted advice and I have a few questions I feel like I should ask personally; I've been thinking of getting an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) for ADHD and depression, and although it is kind of hard to talk about, I genuinely believe that this would benefit me. Since I feel like having rats will keep me busy rather than just laying in bed a lot, way too much. 1. What is your opinion on 'saving rats from being eaten'? AKA buying from reptile stores where the rats are supposed to be used as food? 2. What restrictions should I put on my 8 year old brother? I'm 14, and I've always have had an appreciation for rats. My brother is 8 (he tends to be loud and extraordinarily hyper). I'm scared he might accidentally hurt one, but at the same time he is usually understanding, what should I talk to him about before getting my rats? 3. What about placement of the cage? Thank you! Any other advice you have would be *really* appreciated I also wanted to mention that you have an amazing personality! Again, thank you so much for making these videos!
Hey! I see every comment. I'll try to answer your questions for you! I like the idea of a Emotional Support Animal! When I first got rats, they really helped me get moving and have some responsibility. I have to be really honest with you though, it really depends on how your mental health is at the moment.. Rats don't live long at all (compared to a dog for example). One of the reasons I won't be getting more rats is because the heartbreak of losing them is hard. If I was suffering major depression, I don't think I could handle the loss again and again. But you can decide this for yourself based on your circumstances xx 1. I think it only counts as 'saving' if you don't pay for them Otherwise you are giving the shop money to continue doing what they are doing. You also need to keep in mind, feeder rats are bred for snakes and aren't bred as pets. Pet rats raised by a good breeder will have better temperaments and are less likely to become ill. 2. I don't know what your brother is like, so its a bit hard, but with the age, I would heavily restrict him from holding/touching. It would be a good idea to talk to him about the 'rules' that you set. E.g. he is absolutely not allowed to open the cage and get them out and can only hold them when you let him. Oh and also, no feeding through the bars as this makes the rats chew on the bars. 3. After hearing you have a little brother, I would suggest putting the cage in your own room or a room that can keep them out of sight from him. When i first got rats, I kept the cage in the study room. Aww thank you so much! I hope this helps you! Feel free to ask any other Qs you might have. Good on you for doing some research to help you consider whether they are right for you, thats amazing!
My parents decided to let me get small animals to help with mental health and this video is so helpful!! So much info, and I really think rats are perfect for me
aw yay! i got my very first rats back in highschool and they really helped with my mental health (having responsibility and something to keep going for)
I remember reading somewhere that fleece wasn't good because it doesn't absorb urine... I think it can work if you put something absorbant underneath it but you shouldn't just use fleece. Correct me if I am wrong though!
As long as you wash your fleece often, it should be fine. Putting something underneath won't help absorption because any mess will be absorbed into the fleece before it gets through to underneath anyway. I've never found wet patches under my fleece. 💗
thank you! i've been really wanting a dog to work with but i don't think i can keep one with my living situation. i spoke with my aunt tonight during thanksgiving and i'm really considering getting a couple. not sure if I can fit a good cage in my room but I'll be looking into it more. thank you for sharing!
WHAT HAPPENS AT A RAT SHOW? 🐀i bring ya'll along to a rat judging comp! 👉 ruclips.net/video/kKwrDwjpRso/видео.html

Can they have hamster food because I’m a first time that I have a rat can I have hamster food cause I don’t wanna accidentally get a hamster food without knowing
do you recommend female or male rats for beginners?
Im just wondering about something, so I own an outdoor cat who obviously comes inside my house but I’ve been thinking of getting a rat recently, would it be safe to get one?
Today I went and got 2 rats but they gave me a third free and they are my handsome baby boys

Didn't know you could litter train rats
Yeah they're pretty smart!
@Un welcomeend yes pretty much, however it depends where you get them, if they are from a breeder they are usually bred for health and longevity, but if you get them from a pet shop they might be slightly smaller. X
Well now you know
Same
ye you can also teach them to come to you when you call their names or make a certain sound
Tip for EVERYONE with rats: KEEP THIS VIDEO ON STAND BY! Even if you know exactly what you're doing keep it close and on hand in case you need it in the future.

o.... kay.... o.O
Do they care diseases that can infect humans?

The next one is going to be about rats health and the last will be how to convince your parents to get rats! If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer 🐭
I have a question...
Should I get a rat when I’m still in school? Will I have enough time to take care of?
@@cornhub6043 I would say no... I'm 10 , struggling WTH mock says AND on top of that I have my two rats!!
Depends how old you are. I got my very first just as my last year of high school was ending. And remember that you need 2 or more rats. They need over an hour of play time out of the cage each day. Unfortunately no, they need cagemates 🐭🐭
Your voice is so calming
:’) aw thank you
Cool dude
People think that rats are disgusting but they are so cute 🐀
i really really want rats but my parents just HATE them. Small Lustsans my mom has a phobia of rats!!! She's scared of them. But I think I convinced her but I can only get one with dumbo ears.
@Karen Woodbridge good for you my parents think all rodents stink
Are sphynx cats an option for you? Or maybe wait until you move out? Rats only live for a few years so I mean.... maybe waiting until adulthood is something you should think about.
Small Lustsans stuck in the same situation
Im getting rats and it will be perfect for 2020 because it is the year of the rat, i am a rat ( as in chinese new year animal ) and im getting rats 😂
Awww nice, that’s perfect. I’m also the year of the rat too! How ironic is that! 🙈
Omgg I'm so glad for you!❤❤💕
I didn't even think about it being the year of the rat!
I'm a rat too!
I'm pretty sure I'm the year of the rat too I don't remember
Like my life IS RATS!!
Same though!!
Same :P
MissPidi !!! I LOVE RATS
I wanted to like your comment but the likes we’re at 100 so sos but I didn’t ya know I didn’t wanna ruin the satisfaction

OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING 💗💛 I have my fingers crossed for you 🐀

Oh that's so sad 💛 glad you found this useful though, let me know how getting him a friend and cage goes!!
Managed to get him a good (Large) sized cage! And a friend coming next weekend! I'm currently residing in Singapore and it's hard to find those big rat cages, that is similar to Critter Nation.

I have 2 dumbos and I got them from my local pet shop and they gave me a 5 gallon tank for them but after watching this i will be getting a new cage
yay, you're rats will love you for a big cage x
hey lauren, i know you might not see this, but i would like to share this anyways. you are my role model, my #1 inspiration. i'm going through a rough patch in my life currently, but watching you makes it all better. i appreciate how you love all of your subscribers and how you communicate with them. you are an amazing person and my all time favorite youtuber. keep on doing what you're doing! bye!
I see everything! This is honestly the sweetest thing. I've been feeling a little down the last few days so this means the world to me. Thank you for being in the fam 💕I hope you're doing okay, I'm here for you if you need anything.
Lauren Elloise Hi I’m a big fan thx I am wishing for a rat for Christmas service is a lot of advice for me thank you so much🐁
I just got to rats (females) i of course did LOTS and LOTS of research before i got them and Im seriosly in love with them. They’re called peanut and pepper. Pepper is VERY active and loves to explore where as Peanut is very chill and LOVE to sleep and treats i adopted them in China (my mom works here) from a very bad situation and honestly there just my babies😌♥️
BTW Pepper is hairless
Aw they sound adorable and I love the names! Good on you for adopting
💕🐀
I saved this to my playlist “R A T”
aw niceeee
I have watched a few channels on rats but yours is the best I have seen
I’m so excited to get my rats when I finish my GCSEs!!! (decided I should get them after so I can focus on my studies)
Awww that’s a good idea, plus it will be a reward!
Thanks for making this video! My 14 yr old recently asked me if she could get 2 pet rats and I knew nothing about them. Your videos are very helpful 😊
I had two albino rats and they hair naturally red eyes and pink noses one of them I could have curl up in a ball and hide their tail and it would be a little snow ball, so that's what we named her, the other one was Katrina cuz she was constantly destroying stuff
aw they sounded very cute. I have a soft spot for albinos!
@@ezraisaninjac7136 yay! I hope you got your rats
I’m so glad I found this channel😊
Love your energy & content 💖
Yay! Thank you!
@@laurenelloise You are so welcome! 💖
Wow support of the lgbt+ community and correct rat care! Subscribed
yaaaaay xo welcome to the fam
Lol thats why i subscribed too😂
Aww :’)
Awesome 😎
Thank you! These are good and my parents wanted me to write an essay about rats and their care before I get any so this was good information to know!
Aw glad I could help and really happy to hear your parents want to help you get familiar with their care!
I always come back and watch this video every few months, can't wait until I can finally get my rats ❤❤❤
Awww 💛💛💛💛💛
I just got 4 pet rats (all boys) and they are honestly amazing! I am so thankful for videos like these because they help me out so much when I’m learning about how they’re working 😂
Aw I'm glad I could help in some way 💛
I have a good breeder where I live and I’m saving up 100$ so I can afford them but I’m researching before getting them. Also I’m a vegetarian so I have tons of fruits and veggies.
oh awesome, its such a good thing you were doing your research! nice, you better share some w/ the ratties hehe
I love all your rat videos so much!! I am getting my rats in a week from my breeder and all of your videos are so helpful!!! Thank you!
aw thanks so much!! omg you must be so excited, im wishing you luck!!
Lauren Elloise I can’t wait to get them!! Hopefully they will be really smart and cute (well, all rats are cute!) like your rats!
awww 😋
Getting two pet rats tomorrow, I’ve already got their cage and their food and all the stuff they need, I’m really excited 😁
I have just got 2 new baby rats. One of my rats is sneezing abit and has a wet nose. What should I do about it’s it’s my first time having rats and this video was very helpful.
Aw sorry to hear, I'd take him/her to the vet. Sometimes it might be stress of moving into a new home but other times the sneezing is a sign of respiratory issues. xx
I just adopted two rescue rats and i needed a refresher, thank you!
Oh that’s a great find! And also good advice. Thanks for sharing this with everyone.
Aw cute! Just make sure the floors aren't wire. I hope it goes well! 💕🐁
@@laurenelloise Thanks! I'm going to be covering up the floor, so they'll be fine, but thanks for the advice :D
i just got a rat today i wished i watched your video first i got a male fancy rat from pet smart and now i’m seeing about cages they gave me a tiny cage and he is big
I'm getting a rat for my birthday 😀☺️
Nice! Make sure you get 2 or more as they need to live in small groups 🐀💛
Scarlett Fizer DONT get 1 you must get 2 or more or they cAn die of loneliness
Scarlett Fizer I’m getting one when I move
Moon Jaii Please make sure you get two or more x
I want to get one for my Birthday!
Rats are my life your rats are so cute Lauren! I have Bridget & Bindi!
thank you!! they were lil cuties. aw love those names
I was lucky enough to have two boy ratties for four years until they passed away... That was 6 years ago😕❤
Aw 4 years is awesome 💛 May their little souls continue to rest in peace
I’m thinking of convincing my mom to get me a rat once we move into a bigger house and I have my own room. It’s a secret right now, my last hamster didn’t go well(I didn’t care for her enough and eventually gave her up), but I feel like I’ve matured a lot and I’m researching it now. This video helped, thanks!
Aw sorry to hear about the hamster. But it's a good sign that you are doing research! Make sure you get 2 or more rats though 🐭 they need to live together. You're welcome x
I tried putting my small rats in my bath tub to play in and my girl Peach literally leaps out to the edge and climbs up to my shoulder every time lol
Aww she might find it a bit scary, maybe you could but a blanket that smells like you in the bottom of the tub and some boxes they can hide it! 💜
Lauren Elloise I always put a towel down and one of their hammocks from their cage with some food and chew toys and a box so they feel safe Peach just is really rambunctious and loves being on my shoulders and trying to nest in my hair
Oh good! Aw cute then💓
I foster cats for my local shelter, but they just rescued a large number of rats that need foster homes. I've told them I can take some in, but have absolutely no experience with rats. Very happy to find this series!
Oh the playpen idea is perfect. I already have a large one I use to foster very young kittens in
From what u made “play ground”? Like the walls
I used corflute and had it cut in 6 long strips that were about 1.2m x 0.6m
So many beautiful souls here. Thank you for the positivity!
Hi I am getting 3 rats next month I am fully educated on rats just because your videos I think you so much I really do need more information but I am fully committed to give them a proper life and you are so amazing I watch your videos every day you’re beautiful and I love the way that you express yourself thank you love you
youre very welcome. thanks for watching! thank you so much x wishing you the best when you get your 3 little fur babies!
Thank you very much
❤️
Very informative and important video!
They look so sweet and adorable.
i’m getting two rats for my birthday! i already have names planned ^^
Aww yessss
they’re gonna be remy and templeton, both boys due to me wanting more affectionate animals
ack- update! i managed to convince my parents to get me a rat before my birthday. smart, i know. now i have a black and white fancy rat named sir cheddar :)
Aww cute! Make sure you do end up getting him a friend or two though!
Thank you So much I’m getting one rat tomorrow! I’m super exited!! I don’t think I’ll even sleep today because I’m too exited!!
Please, you must get two or more rats. This is so important.
Me: *considering getting rats because of how cuddly and social they are*
Also me: *has kinda a phobia of mice/rats when they show up in my house*
Oof...
i was scared of rats and mouse, but a pet rat is completely different and i love my 2 little girls , trust me it’s worth it you’ll understand
*Free rats 🐀*
I have preferred rodents over cats and dogs ever since the day my apartment got infested with rats and mice when I was 5
@@sugar2223 lmaooo #lifehack
I feel you but it's so different to be bonded with a rodent than it is to see a wild one. I love my hamster and my friend's rats but wild rats/mice just scare the shit outta me.
Im getting maybe 3 babies! Ive had many rats before andddd im watching all of these videos because im so excited!!
Hi!
I’m planning on getting three male rats but my mums worried they will smell - do you know if they do or not because I haven’t heard anything about that!
Honestly, rats do have a smell to them. It's very minimal and if you keep their cage and bedding clean you won't notice it too much.
Yes, good advice anna 💕
If you keep the cage clean and bathe them when the odor gets strong(er) (I used baby shampoo) it's not a problem. They don't stink 1/10 as much as the same number of mice.
First time here, good work hun! ☺️🙏🏻
thanks so much!
Aw that's so sad :( 2 of my rats were runts actually (but from a breeder, I fell for the cuties)
No matter how sad an animal looks, don’t but from a pet store. Sure your friend saved that rat but now the supply is low and the demand went up so all the pet store will do is put another rat in the same position.
Yeah always try to adopt/buy from a good breeder.
Thank you for all the tips
You are so welcome!
This is the first of your videos that I have watched, but I already love your channel!
Ur amazing and I’m gonna keep everything that u said in mind coz I’m considering getting rats also I’m new 😘
Hello! And welcome to the fam 💕 also thank you, if you have any Qs, lemme know I'll always try to help
I love how i still watch these videos even though i have already had two, well-trained rats. It's been a while and I am getting more in a month or 2 so ig i need to refresh my memory.
I have a guinea pig cage and a little box with a little cut out door i wanna buy the stuff BEFORE i get them.
yeah its good to get everything nice and ready before you pick them up :)
Mango Moe a guinea pig cage is to small
I thought a 2 guinea pig cage was big
You can check the measurements here to see if it's suitable: www.rattycorner.com/odds/calc.shtml
I'm getting rats in a few weeks, always glad to have such amazing pet care tips
I can't wait to have my own place to live so I can get rats I've wanted them for years but could never afford to keep them because I would want to give them the best of everything!
Love these videos, keep up the great work! they will be saved in my 'watch later' for about three years so i can rewatch when im finally getting my own rats! :)

Aw nice! thank you, so glad i could help with your research
Lauren Elloise, I’ve never had a RUclipsr reply to my comment! Thanks for your response!
Aww :’) no worries at all
I made a bad mistake before when I had rats...I never spent any time with them but now I have 2 rats and everyday I find time to play with them thanks to your videos! :)
Aw yay! Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, just as long as you learn and are eager to improve your rats lives is all that matters 🙌
was looking at this for ideas.
I own 3 baby girl ratties
Gorgeous names!
I think it’s good that you let people know what they gotta be ready for if they want pet rats what’s good🥰
Your one of my favourite youtubers☺
thank you so much rachel!!
My girlfriend and I are hoping to adopt rats when we move out of our no-pets-allowed apartment, and this has been super helpful! thank you so much for this!! :)
Also wanted to note that the link to the rat cage calculator in the description doesn't work anymore (the domain seems to be sold), in case you wanted to update or remove it! 🐀💙
here's a new one! Rat Cage Calculator: www.animallama.com/rat-cage-calculator/
A 2 year life expectancy is so short😢
Thanks this is helpful! I want to gets rats in a few years (my parents are questionable if I can get one now or not) and I wanted to make sure they get the best care and I have done good research so they will be happy and healthy in there forever home :)
Hi you inspired me to get rats they are awesome thank you so much rats are so cute but hard to tame please make a video how to tame a rat thank you
Make sure you get her a friend or two 💛🐭
Hello!
I really like your videos! I'm not sure if you'll be able to see this comment but I just wanted advice and I have a few questions I feel like I should ask personally;
I've been thinking of getting an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) for ADHD and depression, and although it is kind of hard to talk about, I genuinely believe that this would benefit me.
Thank you!
Any other advice you have would be *really* appreciated
I also wanted to mention that you have an amazing personality!
But you can decide this for yourself based on your circumstances xx
Love what you are doing with more rats videos you kind of left these videos but I love all ALL your videos
Yay thanks so much! You're so sweet!
My parents decided to let me get small animals to help with mental health and this video is so helpful!! So much info, and I really think rats are perfect for me
aw yay! i got my very first rats back in highschool and they really helped with my mental health (having responsibility and something to keep going for)
I’ve never had a pet growing up I really want a pet rat their so adorable but my mom found a rat in her car so she’s traumatized
This is the reason why I’m getting rats :o
I remember reading somewhere that fleece wasn't good because it doesn't absorb urine... I think it can work if you put something absorbant underneath it but you shouldn't just use fleece. Correct me if I am wrong though!
As long as you wash your fleece often, it should be fine. Putting something underneath won't help absorption because any mess will be absorbed into the fleece before it gets through to underneath anyway. I've never found wet patches under my fleece. 💗
Thanks for the clarification.
Thank you so much much for all this information, I will change a lot of things in their cage now!
PS:
You are very lovely and beautiful :))
Aw you are welcome! Also thank you!! 🐭
I just got two today, and we ended up getting a FOUR STORY MANOR. Did i go overboard? Yes. Do they love it? Also yes.
Hahahahaha love this. They deserve the extra room 🐭🙌
Srry I just have 1 question....HOW DO YOU HANDLE THEM XD
They were a handful when they were young, but as they grow up and calm down a bit its not too hard hahah 🐀
Thank I so much,I am only 11 years old and this series really helped me take care of my pet rat 😎
so glad I could help you!
Make sure you have 2! They can die of loneliness :(
