I definitely agree that depending on who says it, it could be coming from an inherently sexist place. But as someone who has experienced it, actually in the first few episodes of the L Word a couple goes to therapy and they explain that they don't have as much sex. And the therapist describes it as how when 2 women become comfortable and reliant on one another, the relationship can create a kinda codependent symbiosis where sex falls to the way side. I don't think it's a sign of a healthy relationship, as sex should continue happening, but I think it is easier for 2 women to become emotionally codependent and let it fall off a bit. Like when it was happening to me, we were very unhealthily emotionally codependent and since that was the focus, sex just didn't feel as important or necessary. It was unhealthy, but certainly not unheard of.
I'm genderfluid and bisexual, but for some reason, I always find myself gravitating to music made by _specifically_ lesbians. That said, I've never heard of Girl in Red; I think it might be a generational thing, as I just turned 30.
a few weeks before I started dating my girlfriend she let me look through her spotify and I noticed girl in red on her playlist and jokingly said "do you have something to tell us?" and her response was "its not THAT gay". Now that we're dating and I found out we've both liked each other since october (we fell in love in october moment???) I think it just might've been gay!
Surely ‘bed death’ is a thing in all types of relationships then, it’s just the phases of a long term relationship where things can something get boring or repetitive etc, don’t know how it became a lesbian specific thing
Yes, it’s a normal thing for long term relationships imo. I think it’s just thought of as a lesbian thing because lesbians seem to have coined the term, from what I can tell.
. Lesbian Bed Death (LBD) is a term coined from a 1983 study by sex researcher Pepper Schwartz, which suggested that long-term lesbian couples tend to have less frequent sex compared to other relationship types. The idea has been debated, with some studies supporting it and others arguing that it oversimplifies lesbian relationships and ignores emotional intimacy. While some lesbian couples may experience a decrease in sexual frequency over time (just like any relationship), many do not, and factors like communication, attraction, and relationship dynamics play a bigger role than orientation alone. So, it's not universally true but can happen in some cases.

Hi. I once worked with a woman back in the 1980s. She was involved in a relationship with a man. I'm a gay man and have always accepted that about myself. I remember thinking this woman is gay , although she was involved with a man. She was homophobic and would say put down comments about gay people. Anyway years went by and i bumped into her on the street and we went and had a coffee together. She came out to me and said I'm lesbian. I said i already know that. She said how come. I said i thought you were all those years ago. The thing is she was in a heterosexual relationship then. And like I said she was homophobic. I think she wanted to fit in , and she was afraid to be herself. What do you think ?
ha my experience has been heavier on lesbians who love cats (my ex wanted to have 9!) as well as astrology (as a sapphic with chronic back pain, i wish the can't-sit-in-chairs stereotype would die and more people would work on their posture younger to prevent the pain later. although i have seen some studies that question how much of a difference it makes, in my experience it seems clearly related)
When I came out recently I had almost everyone be like "yeah, we kinda guessed" and i felt insane cuz what do they mean...? They knew before I even figured myself out?
I saw your "finding my wife documentary" and have been invested in your videos since!! I was watching your QnGay on the fav TV shows/movies and I wanted to recommend arcane!! it's one of my favorites! the animation is AMAZING along with the characters and there's a good love story 😉
10:11 she is a character from the haunting of bly Manor (it's really good, you should watch it and it is a bit gay💅). But yea, I almost never sit normally
20:37 I think another big reason is that in the world we live in, it's just a lot safer to move in with a woman you've known for a short time than to move in with a man you've known for a short time
I'm the designated driving gay in my friend group. Which isn't great, because I resent having to drive in the first place. Also, car-focused urban sprawl is homophobic.
Fifteen year old, closeted me DEVOURED the L word, and that was like three years ago😭 The series is honestly pretty iconic despite being a little problematic
4:14 in my experience (American) there is more of a stereotype of lesbians and dogs than lesbians and cats. In America it's single ladies + cats and lesbians + dogs.
as a bi amab probably gender fluid neurodivergent little frog, I may have fit almost every single stereotype on this entire list not sure what this means but i know it’s a win
Lauren, thank you so much for helping me figure out all of the lesbian things! I only came out like 5 months ago, and I’ve been going to your channel for advice even before that. Btw any tips for flirting with a girl as a teen?
Nahhhh I just saw girl in red in the thumbnail and had to click on it. She is my absolute favorite singer, and I actually just went to one of her concerts, which was my first concert btw. And I also know every single one of her songs. And I am proud of it. Oh and yes, she was my #1 artist on my Spotify wrapped, and my top five songs were all girl in red songs. I think everyone should listen to her. Her music is just amazing.
I have not listened to Girl In Red. Any song recommendations to check out first? Have you listen to Hayley Kiyoko? Her music videos “What I Need” and “Curious” are one of my favorites!
you gotta watch the haunting of bly manor (the girl wrong seated in the chair's from it) and the L word which I always say is the "sex and the city" for lesbians. highly recommended if you're into dramas !!
10:12 That is Jamie from 'The haunting of bly manor'.You should totally watch it. Such and amazing shiw with a great plotline. The show embodies horror without just relaying on jumpscares. The eerie and creepy vibe of the show is top tier. And the mc is a bi girl who falls in love with a gardner, Jamie. A brilliant show. Also their love story is tragically beautiful.
Astrology, sorry but no! 😂 But then again I am a Physics student, so might not count. 😅 Yeah agree with to many! The walking I love. I'm five three and y friends are like five eight and always complaining that I'm walking too fast. 😅
Hi, Lauren. Besides the obvious signs like mullets/ tats/ combat boots, as a bisexual female ,I'm in a place where it's the safest and most comfortable notion to have that all women are lesbians at heart. The idea that we can develop some kind of 'Gaydar' is what needs to go back into the closet; at least in my personal experience. Going all the way back to the high school locker room through undergrad and med schools, the girls that have hit on me don't fit into any stereotype at all, imo like yourself. Anyways, I've enjoyed your channel and would like to wish you Happy Holidayz and a Happy New Year. 😊❤🐱🎍🎉🏳🌈
15:55 By any chance did you see her live this year? We may have been at the same concert! It was absolutely amazing, I don't go a day without thinking about it all, I wish I socialised with others more, I kind of just stuck to my friends.
The thumb ring isn’t a new thing. I was asked about 20 years ago, why we wear thumb rings. 😂 But didn’t know this was a thing until then. I’m bad at sports. 🙈 The woman in the chair is from a show called “The hunting of Bly Manor”. I really loved that show. It has a beautiful les. love story. I would put “all lesbians are masculine” in the bottom tier. It’s the same like the stereotype that there is a “man” in a lesbian relationship. Regarding the same look: people thought me and my ex were sisters 😆
the first thing my future friend said to me when we first talk to each other when i changed schools was “u have a thumb ring r u gay?”. and while yes i am, i mostly wear thumb rings simply because a lot of rings r just too big for my other fingers lmao. so i don’t think its outright screams lesbian, but thats rare for me to see straight girls wearing it
Queer people can’t sit straight is “tale as old as time” for me. I’m a geriatric Millennial, so it’s been a thing for a long time. As a lesbian with Biology and Engineering degrees, I despise Astrology but have to agree it’s a true stereotype 🤦♀️ And cats forever! They’re like women. You respect their boundaries, serve their needs, and never, ever own them.
Haha the music one is so true! 5 top 5 artists' in my Apple Music Replay are always musicians who have a BIG queer following 😂 I even said to Mum, 'If your fave band or artist is queer themselves, it's a sign 😂 Mine's not Girl in red but my fave musician is Gay(Mlm) 🏳️🌈
I'm a lesbian and I am terrible at sports unless you count swimming and I also fell in love with my straight best friend at one point before I knew I was gay I just thought I was Bisexual whenever I fell in love with my straight best friend.
I'm primarily attracted to men (I'm a girl) HOWEVER I when I do find a girl I'm attracted to I tend to fall just a little harder. I found out I'm sometimes attracted to girls in I think 9th grade and I decided I wanted my first kiss to be a girl because I kinda feel like an imposter for liking primarily men but calling myself pansexual, so it was a way to prove myself to myself that I was worthy of being called pansexual. But I was so happy when I got my first girlfriend, and one day she kissed me out of no where and I was like 😮 and she saw the look on my face and was like "oh I'm sorry did I just steal your first kiss" and I was like "yeah but it's fine I enjoyed it" and she just got super kissy from then on and while I'm not a super kissy person I did enjoy it when I kissed her, because she was so special to me. We didn't work out because she was a bit pushy and I don't know how to advocate for myself usually, but we stayed friends afterwards and we still got along. I live in a different state now but I still get happy thinking about her and I still have a bit of feelings for her. She made me really happy and I was so proud of having my first girlfriend and being able to actually make her like me, and I was really grateful for that experience of having her in my life. She was a senior in HS and I was a sophomore.
"say something gay" me. anyways, I love your videos so so much!! I've only now jst got the chance to watch this video, ive been waiting 2 weeks lollll. and your experience w/ vans sucks, but I LOVE vans, but not as a lesbian stereotype..? so I agree. I have a red pair lolll. it's reminding me nick nelson haha. I own too many flannels. I LOVE flannels. My friend literally calls me 'Ms. Flannel' because she was the 1st person to know I was lesbian and she would call me that loll (she still does). I like pet cats, but not for me? im a dog person :) p.s I have a thumb ring haha
I feel like the cat and sport stereotypes depend strongly on whether we're talking about jock lesbians or nerd lesbians (a disproportionate number of the latter end up working in archives and libraries, idk why lol)
i have never heard birkenstocks being a lesbian thing but that's also a stereotype that my brain won't be able to comprehend because i associate birkenstocks with jacksfilms
7:30 I think it probably came from a certain breed of homophobia. People painting being a Sapphic woman as a phase that you have when your young and that your attraction dies out when your older when that's just simply not how it works. Or maybe they're just bitterly jealous they can't kiss girls Love your videos btw!
Speaking of lesbian stereotypes in clothing/accessories, does anyone have any suggestions on like accessories or stuff to wear to let other women know you're lesbian? I really want other women to be able to look at me and know just by that, that I'm lesbian but I want to still keep my more femme aesthetic (I do still wear some masc things/accessories but I'm overall more femme and just a casual mix of both almost)

I'm the complete opposite as almost everyone I know were so surprised, like what do you mean? Im probably the gayest person you know?!
I actually never came out to anyone. Everyone always just saw me as a lesbian for most of my life. LOL
it's the fact she called everyone out about liking their best friend
Like am I being watch like wtf
Been loving the ranking videos it’s great to see yours and everyone else’s opinions! ❤
I saw your "finding my wife documentary" and have been invested in your videos since!! I was watching your QnGay on the fav TV shows/movies and I wanted to recommend arcane!! it's one of my favorites! the animation is AMAZING along with the characters and there's a good love story 😉
I have cats. Ma wife wanted doooogs but pouting folds hers.
10:11 she is a character from the haunting of bly Manor (it's really good, you should watch it and it is a bit gay💅). But yea, I almost never sit normally
✨🏳️🌈WOMAN🏳️🌈✨
20:37 I think another big reason is that in the world we live in, it's just a lot safer to move in with a woman you've known for a short time than to move in with a man you've known for a short time
10:11 nah you caught me 😭 im literally sitting so weird rn and i feel like your spying on me lol
Istg every stereotypical straight middle school girl these days are always either wearing Nike, converse, or Uggs to school💀💀💀
I'm the designated driving gay in my friend group. Which isn't great, because I resent having to drive in the first place. Also, car-focused urban sprawl is homophobic.
Fifteen year old, closeted me DEVOURED the L word, and that was like three years ago😭
The series is honestly pretty iconic despite being a little problematic
11:00 I'm definitely the slowest walker EVER. All my friends are complaining every time we do something together that I'm soooo slow 😅
Me too, but I am bi, sooo maybe that's why 😂
I never heard of this stereotype before, but I’ve always walked super fast. I’m an ex-lesbian, though, so idk if I count anymore.
4:14 in my experience (American) there is more of a stereotype of lesbians and dogs than lesbians and cats. In America it's single ladies + cats and lesbians + dogs.
The second this video popped up I sent a clip of the beginning to my friends cuz they had to dive back into the gay side of the internet.😭
as a bi amab probably gender fluid neurodivergent little frog, I may have fit almost every single stereotype on this entire list not sure what this means but i know it’s a win
Lauren, thank you so much for helping me figure out all of the lesbian things! I only came out like 5 months ago, and I’ve been going to your channel for advice even before that. Btw any tips for flirting with a girl as a teen?
Oh congratulations 🎉🎉 (i would love tips on flirting as well :)
I think it’s called October? Awsomesauce song, two thumbs up and a gold star sticker
body and mind is pretty good
You should listen to "midnight love" and "I'll call you mine" and "bad idea"
Def “girls” “we fell in love in October” and the other ones here. Oh I also like “I wanna be your girlfriend”
@@amanimacleod4496 YES THOSE ARE MY FAVE TOO ❤
love you sm, this video was great!!!
Aw, thanks so much for watching! 🥰
Im pan and i walk hella fast. and i always lean back in my chair/have my legs at weird angles/lean forward... yea i dunno why i do it but... yea
you gotta watch the haunting of bly manor (the girl wrong seated in the chair's from it) and the L word which I always say is the "sex and the city" for lesbians. highly recommended if you're into dramas !!
I got an add for an "Am I Gay Quiz?!" On this video.
Astrology, sorry but no! 😂 But then again I am a Physics student, so might not count. 😅 Yeah agree with to many! The walking I love. I'm five three and y friends are like five eight and always complaining that I'm walking too fast. 😅
Omg i remember sneaking into the livingroom at night to watch the L word when i was 13 😂😂😂😂
The 12th gay of Christmas my fav RUclips gave to me a new video to watch by myself in my room!!!
Hi, Lauren. Besides the obvious signs like mullets/ tats/ combat boots, as a bisexual female
,I'm in a place where it's the safest and most comfortable notion to have that all women
are lesbians at heart. The idea that we can develop some kind of 'Gaydar' is what needs to go
back into the closet; at least in my personal experience. Going all the way back to the high
school locker room through undergrad and med schools, the girls that have hit on me don't fit into any
stereotype at all, imo like yourself. Anyways, I've enjoyed your channel and would like to wish you
Happy Holidayz and a Happy New Year. 😊❤🐱🎍🎉🏳🌈
I like walking fast because I wanna see how fast I can get something down even when I don’t need to
Life’s too short to walk slow. 🤣
Love your videos, lauren. You sre an awesome couple. Wishing the best for both of you
15:55 By any chance did you see her live this year? We may have been at the same concert! It was absolutely amazing, I don't go a day without thinking about it all, I wish I socialised with others more, I kind of just stuck to my friends.
The thumb ring isn’t a new thing. I was asked about 20 years ago, why we wear thumb rings. 😂 But didn’t know this was a thing until then.
I’m bad at sports. 🙈
The woman in the chair is from a show called “The hunting of Bly Manor”. I really loved that show. It has a beautiful les. love story.
I would put “all lesbians are masculine” in the bottom tier. It’s the same like the stereotype that there is a “man” in a lesbian relationship.
Regarding the same look: people thought me and my ex were sisters 😆
“i feel like there’s going to be 16 year olds watching the video being like what’s the L word?” well uh you’re not wrong lol
YES NEW 12 GAYS OF CHRISTMAS VIDEO 🥳
the first thing my future friend said to me when we first talk to each other when i changed schools was “u have a thumb ring r u gay?”. and while yes i am, i mostly wear thumb rings simply because a lot of rings r just too big for my other fingers lmao. so i don’t think its outright screams lesbian, but thats rare for me to see straight girls wearing it
Queer people can’t sit straight is “tale as old as time” for me. I’m a geriatric Millennial, so it’s been a thing for a long time.
As a lesbian with Biology and Engineering degrees, I despise Astrology but have to agree it’s a true stereotype 🤦♀️
And cats forever! They’re like women. You respect their boundaries, serve their needs, and never, ever own them.
18:04 lmfao
I had never heard this one before but the picture had me quaking.
I thought the stereotype would be butch + femme. Which would have 2 opposite looking people
Yes another video!!!❤
Haha the music one is so true! 5 top 5 artists' in my Apple Music Replay are always musicians who have a BIG queer following 😂
I even said to Mum, 'If your fave band or artist is queer themselves, it's a sign 😂
Mine's not Girl in red but my fave musician is Gay(Mlm) 🏳️🌈
10:20 We're not straight, why should we sit straight
I'm a lesbian and I am terrible at sports unless you count swimming and I also fell in love with my straight best friend at one point before I knew I was gay I just thought I was Bisexual whenever I fell in love with my straight best friend.
Bit early, but merry Christmas everyone!!
les/bi starter pack
What does it mean if a boy listens to girl in red (he knows what she sings about)
I'm primarily attracted to men (I'm a girl) HOWEVER I when I do find a girl I'm attracted to I tend to fall just a little harder.
I like pet cats, but not for me? im a dog person :)
p.s I have a thumb ring haha
I feel like the cat and sport stereotypes depend strongly on whether we're talking about jock lesbians or nerd lesbians (a disproportionate number of the latter end up working in archives and libraries, idk why lol)
AN AUSTRALIAN RUclipsR>??!?! THIS IS RARE
Putting the L word in questionable is criminal
3:20 I'm still advising the cucumbers 😂✌🏻
brooo im actually so desperate, i could try this
also this sounds so weird to anyone who doesn't know what we're talking about HAHAHHA
@@laurenelloise yeah right didn't think about that 😂
i have never heard birkenstocks being a lesbian thing but that's also a stereotype that my brain won't be able to comprehend because i associate birkenstocks with jacksfilms
7:30 I think it probably came from a certain breed of homophobia. People painting being a Sapphic woman as a phase that you have when your young and that your attraction dies out when your older when that's just simply not how it works. Or maybe they're just bitterly jealous they can't kiss girls
Love your videos btw!
15:45 when girl in red is your favourite artist 😭
I guess I gotta find some carabiners
How can somebody not like cats???
OMG JAMIE
I disagree, cats belong in Let’s Go Lesbians too
Speaking of lesbian stereotypes in clothing/accessories, does anyone have any suggestions on like accessories or stuff to wear to let other women know you're lesbian? I really want other women to be able to look at me and know just by that, that I'm lesbian but I want to still keep my more femme aesthetic (I do still wear some masc things/accessories but I'm overall more femme and just a casual mix of both almost)
4:16 I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THUMB RINGS WERE A GAY THING BUT I STARTED WEARING MY RINGS ON MY THUMBS WEEKS AGO... IM BI BTW
