Thank you for the great comparison. I know exactly which one I wanted to buy after this. I do however have a question. I have seen a SDX125 and SDX125i was wondering if you knew if there was a difference between the two. I bought the SDX125 and love it but am still curious. TFS
Hello, im in the UK. Could you recommend the best place to purchase a ScanNCut SDX85S please? they don't seem to be on amazon 😕 ... Thank you in advance
Great video for us 350CM users. I have a question regarding the new roller layout design. It appears the DX has a more forward grab roller compared to the CM350. Does this mean better may feeding with less errors in practice? I find the CM350 can occasionally grab a mat by a corner and skew the mat damaging it if I cannot stop the pullin process fast enough. Happy New Year!
Hi, I never had that with my 350 but yes this new DX definitely has more 'grunt'! so I dont think you would have that happen with this and the rollers have adjustments in them too
Same here. Machine has pulled in the left side and bent the corner and makes it even harder to feed. Less problem if I make sure the mat is squared up, grab left and right sides of mat and apply forward pressure.
I'm thinking about buying my first scanncut machine. I am a casual crafter and will only be using it for cutting stamped images. I can see how the DX's auto blade setting is great, but if I only plan on ever cutting one of 2 or 3 different paper types, can't I just remember the best setting for each each and manually change the blade on the Scan n Cut 2 when necessary? If the sound isn't an issue for me and I'll only ever be cutting stamped images, do you think the Scanncut 2 will be fine for me? I am a big believer in buying the latest version of technology, but in this case I just can't see paying up for features that I'll never use. Thanks for you input and your great review video.
Hi Debbie, if I was investing for the first time and could afford the DX given all the extra little things it can do and the offer its currently on I would get it; I liek the fact that if you chose to use the SVG or wireless cut options in future you can and you dont hav eot but the extra card; I have recently filmed a tv segment foiling my stamped images and it really adds a little something extra you need the DX for this; you can also complete some extra image tracing and things. It's certainly not necessary, but I do think over time you might want them; and you mention you use 2 or 3 papers rather than one; you might just kicked yourself for not spending the extra dollars now; but budget might be a concern for you, my two cents is to plump for the dx if you can
@@HedgehogHollow Thank you for your quick reply. Budget is not a concern. Actually, I really liked the 2 because it just seemed more compact. I also have a Cricut and a 13" wide printer and I cringe at the thought of adding another giant device to my desk. That being said, I agree with you and do want to avoid kicking myself down the road for not having certain features. I'll definitely go for the DX! And I'm curious about the foiling feature. Looking forward to seeing your video!
@@digitaldebbie I am getting it for the same reason. I have the Cricut also and do most of my cutting on that. I just want to save money with cutting out my stamped images instead of buying dies. I want to see about the foiling feature also. I think sometimes I do too much research and get myself confused.
If I would you . I would Suggest to put a hold on the DX, I heard people having problems with the mat. They are getting Mat errors can't insert.. I bought my CM 350.. 2 years ago and I haven't had problems yet. And love it! I'm sticky with it for a while longer. I'm kind of afraid to buy the DX. I rather wait until the the mat errors is fix first. .
I’m thinking of getting the dx. I draw and would like to be able to cut the background out on the inside of the image (arm is on the hip and want to cut out the white area). Will the snc dx do this?
Its pretty much the same difference as it was the the CM models, its only worth it if you are going to use the emboridery features with a brother sewing machine
Hi loved ur video but can u please tell me does it scan something big like 12x22 i havent seen any videos on doing that i have the cm 350 it scans 12x12 but wont scan 12x22 or 12x24 n i have the 12x24 mat but just wont scan big stuff why n thank u
Not sure if the DX from your link comes with a blade? and no mat? That's what I"m reading. Also, what is the difference between a lowtack/standard cutting mat and the SCANNING mat? Do I need one of each, a cutting and a scanning?
you can cut and scan on the same mat, the machine also comes with a mat and a blade; the low tack mat is for fabric and delicate materials; hope that helps
I wish I knew the difference between the DX and the DX E, same with the CM350 and the CM350E? I've googled away and can not find an answer to that. Help??
It's about whether it comes from a dealer or not as far as i am aware and about embroidery compatibility; as a papercrafter I dont need any of those features and i dont have a compatible sewing machine
Any hints in cutting fabric backed with Thermoweb peel n stick with scan n cut CM650W. Is it done as a kiss cut although I’ve never done that. When I place the shiny backing of the thermoweb peel n stick on the mat, how do I keep it from moving all over the mat? Which cutting blade do you suggest? Thank you so much. I’ve had my machine for just over 2 years and haven’t accomplished this yet. Have a great day. You explains things so well.
I have not received my new Scanncut dx, did I hear you say that the 12x12 mat for the snc 2, will not work with this new dx cutter? Also, what about the blade how long do they last?
I recently viewed a video that shows how to trick the DX machine in accepting the mat for the CM350 by drawing in squares in the top left and right corner of the mat. I tricked my cm350 into thinking I loaded a 12x12 mat: with a dry erase pen I drew 2 circles in the top left and right corner of the 12x24 mat and covered the 2 squares.
I keep hearing of having trouble with blades cutting too deep on cardstock and ruining the mats, as well as trouble with mats loading crooked even after repeated attempts.. What are your opinions on these issues ?
I did have the issue prior to the update but since then it hasnt reoccurred at all so im thinking they found a fix for it. Re cutting too deep I havent had this at all and i've cut alot with the new machine, in fact im still on my first mat.
I think the mats loading uneven might be user error, especially if the roller on right side isn't locked in, that being said, I had an issue with the auto blade cutting way too deep, and actually cut through my mat. Brother did send me a new mat, but I found that going in to the settings, and dropping the cut pressure by 1 or 2, solved that issue for me, now it cuts beautifully through everything except my mat lol
Mine cut the mat first uggh I feel like theres a problem here and I wish I knew about these problems and how bad they were. I think 'im returning mine. Its giving me more aggravation than dies.
After watching a fee of these SNC DX videos, I wonder why these ‘famous’ youtube demonstrators seem to have the fewest problems with these machines, while the average buyer has a terrible time with them? Ik these skilled crafters are just that, but does not inspire confidence in myself to be competent using dx. I imagine sitting in a puddle of tears in my future courtesy of this very expensive machine. 😠😥
Is this scanner better than the cricut maker? I’m new to these machines and I want to make a good investment. I want to be able to scan and cut my own drawings. Please help 😊
Hi, yes if that's what you are looking to do then the scan n cut is definitely the right machine for your needs; you can now get free shipping too amzn.to/2GrffPy
@@Michelle-CraftyWACatLadyLoading issues used to be more of a problem. . Now, when I load the mat I make sure it's squared up and give it a little nudge. Also, I've had to clean the scanner lens which is accessed by removing the plastic cover underneath the machine. I use a Q-tip with some alcohol to clean the surface
Hi can you fo a video on scanning a large svg like a mickey mouse or anything on a 12x24 mat n cut it theirs no video doing that that i know off thank u
Alexandra, I think you are jst fabulous! I already have the scan n cut 2 so do you think this would be fine for the time being with cutting stamped images? Like everyone else, already have a cricut , just trying not to buy another cutting machine right now.
I haven’t seen many good reviews. Mostly due to the mat losing its tackiness... do you know if they have addressed this issue? I really want to put this on my birthday list, but am hesitating... thanks!
Hi Kirsten, yes the new mats are definitely better and I do have some hacks; I really need sot do a mat hacks video; its on my list i just need to bump it up a bit; i find the mat last me a good 3-4 even without a hack and i use it alot
I just got a new machine with a new mat and its my first day i've cut maybe 10 images and its not sticky anymore and Im annoyed. Thats so unacceptable. I am buying a new mat already. I got it today. I don't understand what people do. My silhouette works better than this. I'm frustrated. I feel like this machine is already annoying me and for 400 plus dollars it shouldn't be giving me this much agrravation.
@@bethdelmonte-catanese6925 I thought I had the same problem. A couple things, I always keep that protective film over my mat and store it in the original bag. I also wipe the mat with a baby wipe, it takes off all the dust from the paper. The low tack mat doesn't hold on to card very well, but copy paper weight is fine, you may want to invest in a standard mat if you use a lot of cardstock. Finally if I am saving a file, I use a scanning mat. Hope this helps
@@agardener3621 Thanks for the tips. I have a Silhouette that I use for most cutting because I love the Silhouette's design store. The scan n cut is just a way that I can stamp on to a specific white paper (Neenah smooth white card stock) and have the machine cut out the images. After I color them in which has saved me from buying matching dies.

Hi great video but do they have a marker instead of useing the ink pad incase u wanna draw something that would be great thank u
Can DX do magazine cut too. If so anything special I must do?
Thank you. Just joined, very informative!
Can the scan n cut dx 125 cut through watercolor paper? Thanks
My scan and cut (just ordered) is sdx1000. Is that the same as sdx125? I’m confused over the name.
Great advice and information on the products. 👍🏽
I realise this was along time past, how much fore the (Deana)? Model from ur co?
Thank you for the great video. Can you cut chipboard on the DX? How thick?
Hi Monica, with the current blade no; but its can handle that thickness through it; so i have a feeling a deep cut blade is on its way :-)
I wish i would have seen this a week ago. I just bought a cm350. Oh well.
Do u know anything about the CW 650
What difference between brother scan and cut sdx85s vs sdx125e?
They need to come up with one that will cut purse patterns
What does the CM and DX stand for
Can you cut images Painted on illustration board with the DX model???
Can you do a video comparing DX125 vs DX225. The price difference is double :o
Its pretty much the same difference as it was the the CM models, its only worth it if you are going to use the emboridery features with a brother sewing machine
Hedgehog Hollow Thanks!
Hi loved ur video but can u please tell me does it scan something big like 12x22 i havent seen any videos on doing that i have the cm 350 it scans 12x12 but wont scan 12x22 or 12x24 n i have the 12x24 mat but just wont scan big stuff why n thank u
I think its a memory limitation but i dont know the exact reason
Not sure if the DX from your link comes with a blade? and no mat? That's what I"m reading. Also, what is the difference between a lowtack/standard cutting mat and the SCANNING mat? Do I need one of each, a cutting and a scanning?
you can cut and scan on the same mat, the machine also comes with a mat and a blade; the low tack mat is for fabric and delicate materials; hope that helps
@@HedgehogHollow Thank you for your quick and helpful reply! I ordered the DX model from your links.
Is the Scan n Cut DX a good one for the first time owner of a Brother machine?
Is the DX 125 and SDX125 the same thing?
I wish I knew the difference between the DX and the DX E, same with the CM350 and the CM350E? I've googled away and can not find an answer to that. Help??
It's about whether it comes from a dealer or not as far as i am aware and about embroidery compatibility; as a papercrafter I dont need any of those features and i dont have a compatible sewing machine
@@HedgehogHollow Amazon sells both, so I'm confused as to what one can do vs the other?
Can you work offline or is it necessary to be connected to the internet to use it?
How small it will be able to cut?
Thank you for this!
Do I have to buy a rhinestone kit for the dx?
Great info.
How is cutting fabric that I back with Thermoweb peel n stick? Thank you.
That works fine
I have had my machine since it came out, around 6 months ago and havent needed a new blade yet; but yes you cant use the mat from the 2 in the DX
I've used the same blade for 2 years, using everyday on vinyl and acetate.
is there a place to add an SD card?
Cuts too deep
Can i cut dies in the machine with out hurting the die
No way
Have you had any issues with your mat loading in the DX? I've read a lot of reviews where that seems to be an issue
I did before the update, since then its been fine
@@HedgehogHollow when was the update? I'm really wanting to order one but the mat issues were making me shy away from it. Thank you.
Help please, If I buy a brother scan and cut in US can I use it in Australia
Interested in this question too...
Which is a better buy for a first time SnC buyer Amazon or HSN?
I'd go with Amazon, free prime shipping and returns if you need them :-)
Hi can you fo a video on scanning a large svg like a mickey mouse or anything on a 12x24 mat n cut it theirs no video doing that that i know off thank u
Thank you so much
Alexandra, I think you are jst fabulous! I already have the scan n cut 2 so do you think this would be fine for the time being with cutting stamped images? Like everyone else, already have a cricut , just trying not to buy another cutting machine right now.
I think you will be fine for now :-)
Thank you so much and will keep looking forward to your latest video's ...
Thank you
I haven’t seen many good reviews.
@@bethdelmonte-catanese6925thebest
@@agardener3621 Thanks for the tips. I have a Silhouette that I use for most cutting because I love the Silhouette's design store. The scan n cut is just a way that I can stamp on to a specific white paper (Neenah smooth white card stock) and have the machine cut out the images. After I color them in which has saved me from buying matching dies.
