- This is a quick guide to show you how to learn the jecht shot technique. I did record this in my 100% walkthrough as well but I'm also making some stand alone guides from the game to make it easier for people to find them. You will unlock the "striker" trophy / achievement when you successfully attempt this shot.

Bloody impossible... I follow all the subtitles... but it just won't do the final kick. What's worse is you have to exit the game an load back in an THEN have to listen to Jecht again... already hate him as much as Tidus lol
You'll get it don't worry. I remember 10 year old me trying to learn it for hours before it finally clicked. Had the paid manual/game book and even that didn't help lol

I messed it up my first few times until my roommate explained it to me, it washis game I was borrowing at the time
Hopefully gonna learn it this time as I always messed it up in my previous play throughs. But I’m pretty sure that this is your only chance to learn it and if you mess up then you don’t get another go later on.
Just make sure to save your game and retry incase you fail the first time.

Missed opportunity for the Jecht Shot to have been part of an Overdrive/have a variant of the Blitz Ace with a few more hits if you learned it. Would have been something to use that against Jecht in the penultimate boss battle, lol.

That move is the ABSOLUTE HARDEST MOVE EVER TO GET on the 1st try although Yoda once said "Do or do not there is NO try". 🥰
Agreed. it's recommended to save your game if it's your first time attempting this move.

Fun Fact : I never made it on the original PS2 version and despaired. On the PS4 version I managed it on the first try on a TV with input delay no joke lmao.
How I've done this:
During the mini-game, spam X and concentrate only on the D-Pad directions. That's it ngl.
Well done Noroi!! It helps that you are more mature and smarter now that you are older and are more willing to not give up easily. Check to see if your TV has a gaming mode that will reduce the input lag a lot more and make the game more enjoyable. Thankfully input lag isn't too big of an issue with turned based RPG games but for some minigames it will definitely be a challenge.
@Zaeld Thanks for the lovely reply! Unfortunately, the TV does not have a gaming mode, but I agree, with a few exceptions, such as the Quick Time Events, it will not be a big deal in the game even with input delay.

@@420daysfreetrial aww okay. The only other thing I can think of is to hook up your console to a Monitor if you have one. I personally use to play my ps4 on my monitor. Good luck and have fun with the rest of the game :)

I did in my 8th try, at first I didnt do shit because didnt understand (I really don't remember this part, I was 8 years old when I played this and never finished it) but thanks man. For those who bought it on the switch don't try it with the joycon, i did it like 5 try, then the rest I used the pro controller.

Thanks yet trying this on Xbox one it’s driving me nuts!!! I’ve been screwed numerous times hitting right mark n not getting credit, hitting many right marks missing one n still not getting it… this ain’t easy… frustrating… even with a new controller the biggest part upsetting me is how it’s saying I’m not hitting the right mark… sigh… I’ll try few more times, it don’t work I’m moving on, thanks again

I'm on my 10th try, having the same issue. At first it gets in a groove, each text of Jechts words happens, I hit it correctly, again, again, again, then all of a sudden it takes 8 attempts to get it to register one of the spots, and at that point it's too late to get enough correct to not screw up....grumble

I swear this is impossible on Xbox. There's one that won't clear on the bottom right no matter how hard I mash the buttons. Works fine on the practice so it's not my controller. I think the game is bugged 😭
Edit - I finally managed to get it. It turns out you can use the control sticks instead of the dpad and that worked a lot better.

This like other guides doesn't tell me what i need to know.I see two lines at the same time and often the two lines are the same how do you know which ones to click?
The tutrorial was simple because yo ucan see just one line soon i get the double lines showing up I am lost.

I was thinking of streaming before but it's hard to get into because if you commit to it than you pretty much need to be very very consistent with your stream to get anywhere and that's hard to do when you work a job outside of creating content or entertaining people. if you ever do decide to get back into it in the future I wish you the best of luck. I think anything is possible if you stick to doing something consistently and working hard at it :)

I had to try several times before I could get it. Was a bit more difficult to get on keyboard vs controller. It was harder to do the combo keys.

Yeah it is that way at first for sure. Once you understand what to look for and what to do than it becomes so easy that you wonder why you had difficulty before.

Is this the only cutscene that allows you to learn the Jecht shot? I passed it and didn’t get it but now I just beat Luca Goers in tournament
Yes it's only available on this boat. You should be able to enter the boat again later in the game if you want.

Got it on my 2nd or 3rd try back in the original PS2 release.
Now i'm currently playing the HD Remaster von PC (Steam) and _think_ that for this part i'm gonna use cheat engine just to slow down the time by x0.5

I'm in my mid-high 30s and definitely feel slower than I did in my youth but don't let old age play with your head. If you think about that too much than you let it effect you more. You can still be good at games even when you're older.

When do you click on the ball I'm on the boat with yuna wakak Lulu but I couldn't as soon as ide try it wouldn't work then I'd talk to yuna and it starts the story and I get off the boat after fighting sin

i believe you should be able to have a chance at it again later in the game by back tracking to Kilika and taking the ship to luca again.

My game stops working....just freezes
This is strange because i learned the jecht shot but i cant use it against the luca goers, tidus only have the option to "shoot"
You need to add it on him when you get the option to add abilities on your team mates.
I don't understand. The prompts don't show up on both the Cutscene of Jecht, and the actual Achievement Test. I'm on PC. (Steam) Is there something wrong? Please help me.
check your options / settings and make sure subtitles is turned on

OK but how do you get it if you fail the first time
OH NO. This is impossible on the remastered PC version. Two keyboards and i can't get the button combos to register during the live event. The game simply thinks I am not pressing the buttons... this is sad.
hmm.. I've never tried this with keyboard but i played this version of the game on pc using a controller. Are you able to plug a controller in just for this scene to try it?
Fixed it... changed the key bindings for the up down left right and it started to accept the inputs. Damn annoying. Changing them back
to default now.

it is not real easy at all because even when i know where to push I find it difficult to get the angled ones.I tried watching your video again just following the blue circles and wow it is so fast for my eyes i can barely follow it .I don't think between my fumbling fingers and my old eyes will iI ever get it.
you might just need to keep practicing it over and over until you eventually it.

If you select to give it a practice run first you'll be able to practice the buttons for the switch.

But I got nothing that comes with BB because I could never win a single game
My goal this time is to win that first game
After that I plan to just play the game and enjoy the story

How would you know if you succeed?
Jecht says "told you ya couldn't do it" or something a long those lines if you fail so if he doesn't say that than you are successful. I would just make sure that you save your game file first before attempting this that way you can keep retrying it until you get it.

Honestly, this and the blitzball is the only reason this game isn't perfect for me. It's just so EXTREMELY stupid that you only have one shit, and that it makes it impossible win the first game without it. Seriously, who the hell thought this was a good idea?
When can you get it if you mess up the first time
later in the game when you can return to kilika port and take the ferry to luca again. I think that might be when you get access to the airship if I am remembering right.

@@blackwing1982 Yeah...I think a lot of the minigames / side quests in FFX aren't that fun. I hated almost all of them. (Lighning dodge, chocobo racing, blitzball, etc) I can't actually recall one sidequest or minigame in this game that's actually fun. I still enjoyed the game overall tho.

wtf this shit didn’t make any sense there were no prompts and it said there was gonna be wtf
you need to make sure your subtitles are turned on to see the prompts.
the sentences you see on screen appearing are the prompts. you want to put your analog stick or d-pad facing the directions that the sentences appear on screen then press x The honestly best way to do it is to roll your left thumbstick around spamming the X key and let go of the thumbstick when the sentences appear in the middle of the screen then go back to rolling the left thumbstick everywhere and spamming the X key.
