- Join Mazz in the cigar lounge as he discusses his favorite blends with a mellow profile. If you love mild and nuanced blends, this video is for you!
Today, Mazz meticulously walks you through each cigar's attributes, beginning with the elegant Ashton Classic and its subtle buttery notes. Next is the distinctive La Aroma De Cuba Connecticut, followed by the Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva, a popular choice when seeking a mellow cigar with a ton character.
We then explore the boundary-pushing San Cristobal Elegancia with its unique white pepper note- a rarity in mellow cigars. Lastly, we delve into the classic Dominican Montecristo, the mildest among our selections, offering toasty notes and exemplary construction.
Remember, having a mild to mellow collection in your humidor is as crucial as maintaining a diverse wine cellar or spice cabinet. Different occasions will always call for different flavors.

I really like that you included a darker-wrapped cigar. It serves as a reminder that a darker cigar doesn't always equal a stronger cigar.
💯
no stronger but for shure havier tasting in my opinion
It’s all how it’s blended.
The Oliva Connecticut, Undercrown Shade and Perdomo Champagne are a few I always have in my humidor.
both the undercrowns are probably my favorite go-to's for sure. i love Montecristo whites buuuut undercrowns are cheaper
Haven’t had the Montecristo white, but I’ll have to give it a try
Perdomo Champagne (Churchill size) - The way the flavor changes and develops over the length of the Churchill is amazing. My favorite mellow to medium cigar hands down!
Sobremesa brulee
Macanudo vintage 2010
Southern Draw Rose of Sharon
Perdomo Champagne
All very good choices as well!
You took all of my answers! Lol
Yes! The Sobremesa Brulee is a fantastic cigar.
Mild cigars are my favorite!!
Anthony’s reviews are why I only purchase my online cigar’s from Holt’s! Keep up the great work!
👊🏽
same
My first cigar was a Montecristo 👌🏼 All your picks are spot on. You can’t go wrong with any of them.
Excellent intro. Definitely a time and place for all kinds of blends.
You can never find the perfect Cigar. And even then you’re gonna wanna find something that fits your mood that day. It’s like food.
The Arturo Fuente 858 Natural and the San Cristobal Elegancia are my personal favorites!
The San Cristobal Elegancia is my favorite cigar to start my morning of course with a cup of coffee to go with it 🔥👌
The world I move within, no matter what it is, has variety. I love trying different foods, drinks and cigars...
And that Ashton you started with is awesome....
Thanks Anthony...
You can't go wrong with the mellow blends you've selected. Thx for the vid. I've recently been enjoying the Henry Clay War Hawk in the morning.
Mayflower Dawn has become one of my favorite mild cigars!
Mine too!!! I only have 1 left. lol I pre ordered my next batch!
I have 3 left, trying to save them for special occasions since they’re difficult to get right now lol!
I like it too. Hasn't passed up the Elegancia for me though.
Mine are on the way. Can’t wait to try them
Hi Anthony
As usual another masterful presentation.
I have been an Ashton man for 30 years.
Always going with the Ashton Classic Churchill.
Only recently have I tried the double magnum and the Cabinet No. 8.
Staying in the Ashton family.
Again, I appreciate your videos and shorts.
Best regards,
Stuart
Nice video!!! I liked when you compare de sistem cigars with wine. Fantastic!!! Regrads from Portugal!!!
I love them all and have bought many cigars from mild to full strength and I truly enjoy switching it up on a regular basis. My go-to mild is the Monte Cristo for obvious reasons especially in the morning with a cup of coffee. Excellent selection Mazz.
Great content, made me rethink my approach and collection of cigars.
The Ashton Classic at the beginning with a cup a coffee is always nice for me in the Texas spring time, or on the golf course.
agreed!
Fantastic list. Huge fan of all, but especially the Ashton classic. I do miss Thomas Hinds
Montecristo White Series is the one i always have
Excellent video as always. I like the Davidoff Signature No. 2, which also was my first cigar (following Eddie Sahakian).
Great as always. My new favorite mils is LA Conquista connecticut wrapper. Real mild with hints of vanilla.
These takes are knowledgeable and well presented.
That San Cristobal elegancia is phenomenal. Makes me enjoy that white pepper, staring to adjust to Ashton. Didn't like them at first.
An dont forget the Bella Cuba...
Yep subscribed thank you sir
Was in the mood today in fact...sun was out, chose Oliva Conn and paired with mellow Glenlivet 12. Love 858 sg but closer to medium to me.
Good Morning 😊 Great chat and advice 👍🏼 Mild cigars are good 😋 Thanks for sharing 👏🏼 Greetings From South Africa 🇿🇦
Just got myself this sampler, can’t wait to try them all.. thanks for the recommendations! 👊🏼
Hope you enjoy!
This is the man I perfected my cigar palette from going into Holys n talking with him has been the best experience in my life!! N I smoke most of these cigars!!
I look forward to trying all of these. Good video!
I just got a box of the la aroma de cuba and its taken over from the oliva as my favorite
I like the Ashton Classic, the Argyle White Glove, and the Macanudo Cafe so far. Great smokes and definitely mellow cigars.
My first cigar was a Partagas (habano). NOT a mellow cigar by any means but I loved it. Now that I'm older, I've been exploring milder cigars. The Ashton Heritage is a good example. Good flavor, pleasant aroma, great relax smoke. I'll continue my exploration of these milder cigars. Thanks Anthony!
I appreciate this information, especially as I'm just getting into the cigar world!
I had my first La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut last night and it was much more peppery and medium to full bodied, which I was not expecting. Still a good cigar, but not mild to me. Oliva Connecticut is more mellow and flavorful imo.
I love Maduros but like you said sometimes I just need to take a break. Gotta have variety. Thanks Anthony!
My favorite mellow cigar is the Oliva Melanio 2023 figurino.
I frequently have a mild cigar mid day at my local lounge. All depends on how I feel and it tends to go in cycles. Good vid!
My go to mellow is the AJ new world ct-perfect with coffee every morning. Same wirh the my father ct. cool review too, thx!!
Incredible video. Amazing production value and editing as well as awesome knowledge. Keep it up !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dunbarton has taken over the mild cigar game. The Brulee and Brulee Blue are top mild sticks.
White label rocky patel and the my father Connecticut series. The best mild-mellow cigars
Fantastic awesome thank you !
I enjoy the La Aroma De Cuba Connecticut. I also quite frequently enjoy a Tatuaje Cabaiguan Guapos. Also the Southern Draw Rose of Sharon is very high atop this list for me.
Great list, for me, it is the Macanduo Cafe. Great mellow smoke, good draw, all around solid in my opinion.
Agreed!
Lower cost mellow cigars in my buddy box are always Baccarat. I like Sobramesa Brulee followed with a Melania V Figurado. I like to ramp up cigar strength. Undercrown shade flying pig stood out for me recently.
The Southern Draw Desert Rose is a phenomenal mild cigar. Velvety smooth wrapper & flavorful but still mellow. Would love to see a review!
I would have to add the Rocky Patel White Label, Southern Draw Rose of Sharon and Perdomo 10th anniversary champagne.
The brick house Churchill or the la palina Connecticut comes to mind of mellow cigars I really enjoy. I need to grab the my father Connecticut but can’t find in the corona size.
Great selection. I recently enjoyed a Brick House Connecticut worth mentioning 👍🏾.
I may get smacked for this, but I've developed a real affinity for the Nub Connecticut.
Absolutely not, that's a great mellow cigar 💨
Same ❤
LOVE those
The Ashton Classic is one I tried on Mazz's recommendation (in another video) and man what a good cigar. Easily my favorite right now and one I think I'll always have in my humidor. The San Cristobal Elegancia is also a very good mild cigar (a little more spicy than the Ashton). I will definitely smoke my way through the rest of these. Das on St. Maartin has some good mild and mild to medium cigars that I really like. Just wish he had a storefront online.
Diamond Crown are elegant approachable cigars.
Since I've gotten more into cigars, I enjoy having multiple types, flavors, wrappers in my humidors. Depending on my day, I want a lighter cigar some I want that punch. I have learned so much about cigars watching this channel, I love the variety that I (full disclosure, my wife ordereds all my cigars) have in my humidors.
Thanks for sharing!
Another great one in the book
Over my 30 years with cigar smoking I have always preferred a more mellow cigar. Sometimes I want a medium to full body cigar with a lot of peppery spice, but usually I have preferred mellow
You've found your wheelhouse!
This is awesome not to my wife's liking but ...cigar is a smooth reflection of life as you age...with a nice drink nice weather it makes the moment magical...@cigarLife I need to start a new Canadian
The rocky patel white label is an amazing Connecticut cigar..around $20 but well worth it
Flor de copan churchill is my top pick for a creamy mellow cigar :)
The Hoyo De Monterey Excalibur is another one of those mild cigars with character that is very reasonably priced.
Atabey should definitely be on this list
outstanding brother. I always bought myself a cigar after having a thousand dollar day at work. I,m a commercial flooring installer and it takes alot of carpet tile or marmolieum to make a thousand in a day. S I love a mello cigar.
What better way to celebrate? Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great list. I personally love the Oliva Connecticut Reserve in the mellow world.
That's a great blend! Could've easily made this list.
Harry Kalas was an Ashton Classic Churchill guy!!
La Aroma de Cuba and the San Cristobal are great. Looking to try a Montecristo one day.
You said it.. love them both!! And same again I haven't had a montecristo either but that's the cigar I've wanted to try since was a kid and i thought cigars were kewl
@@nathanhawee5373I am a casual cigar smoker, maybe 3 a week, so prefer to go quality over quantity, as far as cost. I mostly smoke Montecristo #2 and My Father Las Antilles in Toronto, both of which I highly recommend.
La Aroma de Cuba is my top pick..
the brick house with a natural wrapper is a excellent smoke. it is a little hard to find most places sell the connecticut wrapper which is o.k. the natural wrapper is a little stronger.
Great list as always! I also enjoy the RyJ 1875. Mazz, when are you gonna play that guitar in the background while having a good smoke?!
We gotta teach him how first 😂
Had my first cigar Friday. Have been binge watching your videos since. Just found out you're out of Philly?? I'll have to stop by! Only 30 minutes outside of philly
Would love to have you in 👊
I really enjoy rose of Sharon Johnny tabacconist, Asylum medullas onblogata natural and oliva Connecticut this are my mellow crew 🤙🏼
Ashton in my top five
🙌
I like mild and medium cigars. 👍
I am currently enjoying Gran Reserva as my favorite. It balances great for me. A suggestion where to move next would be appreciated.
Really depends but you may enjoy Ashton or Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real
Davidoff #2 is top on my list.
The mellow cigar I have been really enjoying lately is Joya de Nicaragua Classico, it’s the original cigar from Nicaragua. What say you?
Dig it 👊🏽
Olive Connecticut, Perdomo Champagne, Baccarat Candela or Connecticut, RP Connecticut, Monte White, Flor Dr Oliva Gold or Maduro, Manowar Virtue.
Chain smoking cigars while in the swamps keeping mosquitoes away all day I don't want a Punch Punch. Different strengths for different situations.
I agree with this episode 100%
I actually run two humidors. One is stocked with full body and stronger sticks. The other has mellower smokes.
It depends on what mood I’m in, which one I go into.
Sir, you are a big dawg at Holts. Put together a mellow sampler.
Look up Connecticut Cream 👀
@@holtscigars gracias.
Olivia Connecticut I've found to have really great flavor complexity for a mellow cigar. Always appreciared hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur back in the day too. Rose of Sharon is way over rated in my opinion. Same for Romeo and Juliet reserva real. It's a no go for me.
Monte Cristo No.3
Hey Anthony i will love that you guys make a 5 pack deal on the website with this 5 cigars.
Good idea
This is a great video. I’ve been smoking for about a year and a half? I’m growing my palate but I love keeping mild cigars on hand. If I smoke something strong or smoke a lot? It’s a nice break.
Exactly, always great to switch up the gears 🙌
Can you do a video on your favorite full strength cigars?
We'll add it to the list
@@holtscigars thank you!
👍Man O'War - Virtue 👍
ADVentura The Royal Return Queen’s Pearl has been great!
I do like all of these. For some reason, Montecristo original has never been consistent lately, at least for me. I think I like the White Series better than the original ones. My own favorite mellow cigar is Don Depin Garcia Vegas Cubans.
By the way, are you all doing any events? I would like to pay a visit to your launch but I’m in DC, so I would like to catch one of these events which you all doing.
We will definitely have more events this year, we'll keep subscribers posted when they're approaching!
I pair a light beer with sushi or sashimi.
Hello. How much time in your opinion it takes before new cigar enthusiast starts to feel the flavor ? Great channel, thank you - Thomas.
Everyone's palate is different and it's different for everyone. Don't worry about it too much, as long as you're enjoying your experience that's all that matters. Eventually the flavor notes will come to you 👊
@@holtscigarsMuch appreciated. Thanks.
I didn’t know after all these years that Holts owns Ashton 😳
2 separate entities owned by the Levin family. One doesn’t own the other.
@@anthonymazzola4470 oh ok
Hi new here I recently started getting into smoking cigars and so far I’ve only tried the perdomo reserve champagne which I liked and the sweet Jane which was nice to but wanted to ask I’m lookin into buying a box to keep my cigars in and so would you recommend having one box with multiple different types of cigars or separate boxes with only like same brand name type of cigars
You don't have to worry about placing different types of cigars in the same humidor, BUT the only thing you should avoid is placing a flavored or infused cigar (like the Sweet Jane) in a humidor with unflavored cigars as the aromas from the infused cigars will taint the unflavored cigars, and the humidor itself.
Ashton Aged Maduro
Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Maduro*
all the deadwood’s…
So far those are my favorite…I’m not a fan of spicy/peppery….I basically want a dessert smoking stick..so if that’s you too, try these.
How I got into cigars….nostalgia..and perhaps my already founded history in smoking herbs..but the smell of cigars…when my grandad used to take me to horse races with him, I remember the first thing smelling walking through the doors was the cigar smoke…absolutely beautiful aroma..it’s a wonder it’s natural! Which makes it even more beautiful…so ya, the smell…now…the tastes I’ve acquired a liking for after ever smoking, but I do find myself seeking the taste that matches the smell…luckily with those I’ve listed I’ve begun to capture that experience.
another to add at least to the mellow list, not HUGE on the flavor personally, but it’s not BAD..is the Montecristo White series
Does anyone know where to get the La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut in the uk? this sounds nice but I can’t find it anywhere.
Plasencia Reserva Original 🤙🏼
Right now aliados, Romeo and Juliet’s, and rose of sharon
new world by AJ connecticut does it always for me
🔥
The fact you didn't put the Dunbarton Sobremesa on this list disappointed me. Such a good smoke.
Dang I have all those in my humidor
You have great taste 👏👏👏
If anything I feel like mild cigars/food/drinks are WORSE for beginners, since you need a more refined palate to understand the flavors. Does anyone else think this way?
Sure to appreciate them you need experience but they wont put you on ur ass. Imagine taking someone skiing for the 1st time and pushing em down a Black Diamond, they'll never wana go skiing again because the experience was traumatizing.
Correct. A stronger blend can come off as “harsh” to a new cigar smoker. People can always revisit milder blends once they have dialed in their palate.
Ashton aged maduro
