      If you have a vehicle that needs a higher current output, and don't need much in the way of foolproofing, I'd recommend this.
      The drawbacks are the larger bulk, and the higher price compared to the Autowit 2 at 119, and the Schumacher DSR108 at under 58.
      The Autowit is the tidiest package in a nice case, and mid pack between the three.
      The Schumacher is lowest output and smaller width clamps but it's the most cost effective and even at the lower output, has done the job whenever I needed it.
      Personally I'd probably get the Autowit as the best overall package.
      If you just want the least expensive one the Schumacher is good to get and just toss in the trunk and forget about it until you happen to need it.
      The Keen can serve as a battery bank to charge your USB devices, which is an unusual feature, but it times out with a low draw, so you have to keep pressing the button periodically to use it for your phone. If you don't mind the bulk, it's good to have for the max output capability.

    Perfect as a replacement for jumper cables. If the other vehicle is dead but yours is not, you can charge it from yours then hook it to the dead battery to "jump" start it,

    Your Cummins has glowplugs??? Lol i was typing when you corrected to heater grid haha. Thats a neat little pack. Im looking at the xs batterys (single battery and the capacitor in the second battery compartment) could come in handy for Canada winters

    • @reusefull
      @reusefull  5 месяцев назад +1

      Haha... my mouth always says glow plugs, even though my brain knows its a heater grid. Probably because it was always glow plugs when I was young. If the battery is really dead (the headlights were on for days), the cap can't do it in one shot and you need to power it up if another battery, but I definitely love the idea of it and have used it several times since getting it. The Noco GB250 is just an animal, but it's very expensive.

      @shaneanderson983 Yup... haha. The grid works well! We run a lot of DT466s and they use the grid also... seems to start them pretty well in the cold.

    How’s that super capacitor holding up? Considering one of these at the shop to start trucks.. I like the fact it isn’t a battery

    • @reusefull
      @reusefull  6 месяцев назад

      Depends on what you mean by "trucks". I really like the fact that it's not a battery also, but I think it would struggle trying to start medium or heavy duty trucks with multiple batteries. I use it mostly at home for tractors and cars. It will start my truck from some dead, but not deeply dead.
      If I was going to use it on anything big I would import the power... suck a charge off a running truck and pump it into the dead batteries. Probably after a few of those, it could start big stuff, but I haven't had a chance to try it on anything bigger than the 6.7 diesel.
      For bigger stuff (like a 13L cat) the GB250 is a powerhouse. Really expensive though. I see there's a capacitor for heavy diesels, but it's $11,000 or something ridiculous like that, you could buy a lot of keen power packs for that kind of money!

      @Kwhopperfan 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@reusefull wow! That’s a lot of money for a heavy duty version. Yes, I was referring to 11-15 liter heavy’s. Good to know, thank you for the reply

      @Kwhopperfan I got the Noco GB250 on black Friday a year or 2 ago for $700... big money, but no regrets. I do love the ability to jump start off a bad battery with the capacitor though, I'm definitely keeping it.

      @reusefull  Месяц назад +1

      @locker1325 I haven't tried for long periods. It works a day or 2 later, but I haven't paid attention beyond that. It definitely starts to drain off sooner than a battery.

    Please answer asap do you have to connect the keenpower to an AC outlet or can you use the keenpower without it

    • @reusefull
      @reusefull  6 месяцев назад

      You can charge it off a car battery or AC, but you don't ever have to use an ac outlet if you don't want to or can't.

      One thing that distinguishes the Keenpower over all the other supercap jump packs I have like the Autowit and Schumacher is that it retains the charge for a very long time.
      I've had it sitting for what may be months and it's still at 14V, while all the other types will be completely discharged in a week.
      I find that surprising, but my impressions comparing these is that the Keen is like an old muscle car with very little in the way of protective safety circuits but high power, while the others have more foolproofing measures, discharging it when in storage and requiring detection of a voltage on the clamps before switching on.
      The Keen will simply output when called upon from a push of a button regardless of what it's connected to.
      The only drawback is the higher price and the bulk compared to the others I have, but it does have a significantly higher output from my testing.

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 2 месяца назад +1

      The boost voltage that the keen charges up to is lower than most at 14.7V, which is safe for vehicles.
      Unlike the lithium packs, which will have significantly higher voltage output.
      That's one of the reasons the lithium packs all require voltage detection, to make sure it's connected to a vehicle battery that can absorb some of the power and limit the voltage from getting too high for the vehicle electronics.
      You really don't want to connect up a lithium jump pack on its own to a car with any sensitive electronics and bypass the voltage detection, the high voltage could be risky without a battery connected.

      @@dubmob151thanks for your thorough explanation! I’m leaning towards the Keen vs Autowit and your explanation is VERY helpful

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 2 месяца назад +1

      @@zaxon09 if you don't mind the added bulk and cost, it does give more output without the handholding foolproofing. If your vehicles are harder starting, needing more cranking time, it's a good option.
      The autowit has proven capable of starting every time I needed it though, and I do like the tidy package, so if I didn't collect jump starters the way I do, I'd get that.

  • @AFatherToTheFatherless
    @AFatherToTheFatherless 7 месяцев назад +1

    Should've tested if it can jump the vehicle with the battery disconnected from the car to simulate a totally dead battery and see if it has an override mode to still jump it if it's charged from another source already. Due to the video missing that important info I'm gunna have to give it a thumbs down.

    • @reusefull
      @reusefull  7 месяцев назад +1

      Fair enough. I'll give it a shot with a different vehicle I don't care about, but I've smoked electronics before with no battery at all

    • @AFatherToTheFatherless
      @AFatherToTheFatherless 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@reusefull either that or drain the battery to at least 1 volt

    • @reusefull
      @reusefull  7 месяцев назад +1

      @AFatherToTheFatherless I can do that for sure. I thunk a really dead battery is a better test than nothing at all because the battery is absorbing energy from the pack while you're trying to start the vehicle. I understand what you mean about the override though... if you can't get the pack to fire, it's not very useful.

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 2 месяца назад

      The keenpower will deliver power without any need to detect voltage, that's a significant difference from pretty much all other jump packs based on super caps or lithium batteries. Only other types that don't require voltage detection are the old style lead acid jump packs, which just have a mechanical switch if anything.
