Manuel Orozco boyhood was a terrible movie and the performances were absolutely mediocre, not even Patricia Arquette could save the movie. The actual winners should’ve been Emma stone or Keira Knightley.
Just finished watching Boyhood tonight and made me cry tons of tears. One, because of her teacher character's inspiration and strength and two, because the film is a beautiful experience. Superb.
Patty used her platform to uplift all women, she just made a mistake and said and blacks, but not black women, or people of color, or colored people, or whatever they’re called these days
Patricia Arquette has great acting in Boyhood. In her Oscar acceptance speech for Boyhood (2014) she made remarks about gender inequality, which instantly went viral as the millions of people watching the telecast at home weighed in. Women's groups say that the only times they have seen more buzz around the topic of income disparity was when Lilly Ledbetter, the activist who sued Goodyear for paying her less than male counterparts, addressed the Democratic National Convention in 2008 and 2012, and when Barack Obama took up the mantle of equal pay in State of the Union address in 2015. Patricia Arquette is the first member of the Arquette family to receive an Oscar nomination, and also the first to win the prize.
True. One of the most haunting films ever made. I cried so MUCH. Mason's story reminded me in some parts of mine. It was an out of body experience to watch it. It was disheartening, gutwrenching and beautiful to watch this kid grow up. It made me realize how time flew and flies so rapidly, how fragile and fleeting life can be, how in the blink of an eye you were an innocuous kid, then a rambunctious teen and turning without warning as a full blown adult. And in between, you face predicaments, deaths, drama, confusion, angst, first times, first kisses, meet your best friends who might stick till the end or not, lose your virginity or not, succeed at school or fail expeditiously, you live to the fullest until settling down, move-ins and move-outs, witness your parents fighting, have your first dog, spend countless sleepovers talking about girls or boys even both, gossip about anyone at school and playing videogames, go to camp spending summers of a lifetime with kids you'll never see again or not, you crush on other people, you get your heart broken, you fight with your parents and siblings but you learn how to LIVE. And still, the older you get, you never cease learning and growing. Watching Boyhood left me reeling and crying for a whole night. But I felt pride and closure. My past has been a tainted, wild journey but turning into a 28 year old graduate from grad school with a Master's degree, living in Paris and able to withstand depression, two suicide attempts, being a gifted child with ADHD, bullying and being bullied, my mom's car crash, losing some friends to untimely deaths or by going to jail for drug selling or murder and overcoming alcohol abuse. Boyhood is not only a movie but a statement of life's beauty of life's fast but invisible pace, of time's unfathomable but irresistible grip on our fate. It's an embodiment of what time is, how every single decision and mistake contained in one life can shape and affect you but not necessarily determine who you'll become. It's a wheel in constant motion which takes us, rolls us along, makes us go from young to old to then, eventually kill us.
@@moisemensah8233 It was an okay movie. The concept was good but the execution was lacking as it was definitely boring in a lot of parts. It was literally not as deep as you’re making it and never will be. To use words like “haunting,” “gutwrenching,” & “disheartening” is just too much lol

Sunoh Kim You do realize that the wage gap based on sexism is a myth right? It has literally been debunked 30-35years ago by economists. In case of these actors and actresses it's a case of supply and demand. Men are not universally paid more.
Not if white women make 70 cents to a dollar men make. Not of women of color make 50 cents to a dollar a white man makes. Pay attention to the inequalities around you. Your experience is not universal.

Absolutely deserved win. And the most deserved in that category since Mo'Nique in my opinion. Dern was pretty good, especially with the little screen time she had. Stone was ok, but people just go crazy about her because she had that shouting scene. I think Watts was better in Birdman. Knightley's performance was pretty good, but in the end, both Knightley and Stone were nominated because of the buzz around their movies. And then there's Streep. Honestly, no other actress would have got nominated for playing an overacting witch in a Disney movie. Close, Mirren, Dench could have done that role in their sleep. I bet Blanchett will be better in Cinderella than Streep in Into the Woods, but Blanchett won't even be considered for a nomination because the movie is a Disney Fairytale. But if Streep appears in a movie, she has to get her obligatory nomination.
"Emma Stone and Knightley were nominated because of the buzz around their movie" REALLY?? Fuck off dude get your facts straight, that's just stupid and immature to say and you're minimizing Stone and Knightley just because their movies went "too famous". Come on, man.
Sabrina Ross That's why I was pissed when Emma Thompson didn't get nominated for Saving Mr. Banks and instead Meryl Streep get's the nomination for August Osage County and no offense but Julia Roberts deserved the nomination WAY more than Meryl. So if any other actress is in a Disney production, no nominations. But if Meryl is in it, nominations.
Diego Castellanos You don't understand what I mean and you don't have to say that I should "fuck off". The thing is: If a movie is beloved by the academy, it (mostly) gets as many nominations as possible. Look, I don't think that Knightley and Stone were bad. I think they were good, I'm totally ok with Knightley's nomination, not so much with Stone's (but that's more because I don't find her much more deserving than Naomi Watts in the same movie). Stone and Knightley were locks. Why were they locks? Because everyone knew that Imitation Game and Birdman would get a lot of nominations. If A Most Violent Year had had the same buzz as The Imitation Game, Chastain would have easily got nominated. Same goes for Nightcrawler and Russo or Snowpiercer and Swinton. But in the end it doesn't matter. Get your facts: Arquette was the only one who was a standout. Apart from that performance, this year's Supporting Actress category was not much stronger than the lineups of the last years.
Laura Dern was the best in this Top 5 but they DID NOT nominate the Best Supporting Actress that year. Rene Russo was by far the greatest in "Nightcrawler". And stop trashing Jennifer Lopez. She acts better than 60% of our modern so-called "superstars" in Hollywood
Yeah just as easy for John legend and common to talk about black incarceration in their speech, on the same night, when they're clearly not incarcerated themselves and are also millionaires...I mean with comments like these, it's almost as if people care less or are less sensitive to issues affecting women then they are POC...oh wait....
***** Well it's not like she has to ever worry about wage equality, and she's preaching about it as if she's experiencing it now. It just doesn't make much sense when celebrities who are making thousands a week talk like they're unhappy with their pay. It seems a bit irrelevant for her to be talking about wage equality when her dress is probably worth more than someone's annual income.
+WeAreTheInsurgents Well maybe, I don't know, she's talking about all the other women in the US as well? And still, who gives a shit if she's rich? Does it make it less important that men in the industry still make alot more money than woman for the same job? It's still very unfair.
Even the actresses get paid less than male actors. yes they already get paid millions but they too get paid less. www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2014/12/17/stop-denying-the-gender-pay-gap-exists-even-jennifer-lawrence-was-shortchanged/
Laura Dern in my opinion should have taken the oscar home instead of Arquette,in just 10 mins she created an amazing and heartbreaking character that feels omnipresent in every frame of the film, The "happy people sing" scene was the most powerful scene in Wild, showing us that no matter what Bobbi went through(Domestic abuse, money issues or cancer) she was always ready to fight with happiness and love for her children. amazing work, i cant praise this enough.
My ranking: 5.kiera Knightley-The imitation game: she Brought the needed warmth in a rather one dimensional role but she just didn't impress me at all. Best scene: Joan visits Turing in the hospital 3.5/5 4.Meryl Streep- into the woods: Streep is the reason to watch into the woods she is incredibly entertaining and she steals scenes like crazy but I just didn't find her award worthy :/. Best scene: "stay with me" song 4/5 3.Patricia Arquette-boyhood:she was very good at portraying a mother that raises her kids while fighting for her dreams, she is also heartbreaking at portraying her loneliness and desperation of her children leaving her to collegeUnfortunately the story didn't really let her shine besides her final scene, I was left wanting more of Arquette. Best scene: Mason leaving to college. 4.5/5 2.Emma Stone-Birdman: or the unexpected virtue of ignorance: Emma Is amazing at portraying her Sam's disconnection with her father but at the same time showing a lot of love for him,her chemistry with Edward norton and Michael Keaton is outstanding, she really adds a lot to Birdman and deserves much more recognition for her role. Best scene : Sam confronts her father about being relevant. 4.5/5 1.Laura Dern-Wild: Astonishing performance by Dern, in just 10 mins of screen time Dern created a three dimensional human being out of a potentially one dimensional role, she is tragic, inspiring and lovable all at the same time, she showed that no matter what a mother goes through she will always be happy for her children, her face when she finds out about having cancer is devestating to watch. her final scene in the kitchen was (in my opinion) one of the best acted scenes of 2014, her monologue despite being short left me in tears And heavily inspired. Amazing work, deserves far more credit than she is given. Best scene:"happy people sing" 5/5
I don't mind Meryl Streep. In fact, she's a treasure to behold in many of her films, her early works especially. But now, even though she's inarguably great, I find that too many people revere her as the greatest thing to have ever graced this earth since ever. She is the moon and stars, the sun and sky, the rivers and oceans. She is everything forever and for always. People would pay with their souls to eat the dirt she walks on, to look at the air she breathes, to smell the bowel movements she passes. It's a little too much, I'll say. And with the last few Oscar nominations she's gotten, things are getting quite out of hand. Especially this last one. She got nominated for her Golden Globes speech and because Hollywood hates Trump. I hate to make it political, but the Oscars loves politics. That seems wrong to me. The Oscars should be about rewarding and celebrating the best in film, not laying forth a political statement. And if you're so hell-bent on getting political, yeah, that's what the 4-hour Oscar spectacle is for and the reason so many comic hosts are hired to satirize the current political climate. I'm sorry, but that's how I feel.
I absolutely adore Patricia Arquette. I find it hysterical that people call her an elitist. Anyone who says this doesn't know the history of the Arquette family or her own history with poverty. The Arquettes were raised on a commune in poverty without running water or clean clothes. The parents were abusive and abused all kinds of substances. Patricia was a struggling actress in her midteens and became a single mother at the age of 20, struggling to even buy diapers for her baby.
SOME people are so ready to hate on Hollywood. A lot is based on jealousy. Throwing around the term "elite" is so inappropriate. It's used to put people down and that happens far to often to the undeserving of that title. Your right, PA is the least to speak ill of. She is kind, generous, smart and skilled. She's always been good to charities, causes and things outside herself. Mentioned one in her speech. I fear for people's inability to SEE a bigger picture at times. Any whoo, I loved her win !!
Shes a loving person, she just missed it and wanted to hurry to stage to give that inspiring speech. Didn't want Oscar to cut off her important (FOR others) words. I'm sure she gave him hugs after.
Her character's last words: "I just thought there would be more", was delivered so well , with so much melancholy, that from that moment onwards it's helped me appreciate every breath, emotion and memory I've had the privelage of living through. So yes, she did deserve this award.

Oh shut up.In the west you bitches got every oppurinty to become what you want.Sick of feminist. This bitch at one of my friends work thought she should make more than my friend and she only worked there 2 years and he worked there 6 years.Tried to take her sob story to the local news but got her ass fired lol why don't you bitches go live in the middle east, africa or any other third world countries and see how bad women got it there dumb asses
hahaha i love emma stone she's just sitting there holding an oscar made out of legos. i love her so much!
Now she got a real one
she has fun with everything. I love it.
All the actresses in this video have an Oscar at least, only Keira Knightley is missing, I want her to win one day
ikr keira is great
@@akisok0311 Saw her in a small movie called "never let me go" and she was stellar. Heartbreaking part.
She's awesome in True Romance. Should have been nominated for that one also.
At the end Meryl's eyes are shining with tears and my eyes does too :'( So cool and perfect speech!!
Sunoh Kim Mine were shining with all the bullshit I've just heard.
Lightitupp1 So what? Then pull your eyesballs off or do whatever you want to do.
Sunoh Kim You do realize that the wage gap based on sexism is a myth right? It has literally been debunked 30-35years ago by economists. In case of these actors and actresses it's a case of supply and demand. Men are not universally paid more.
Lightitupp1 K (Fart)
Sunoh Kim Haha, yes the speech was farts indeed.
I feel like Meryl is at every Oscars 😂😍❤💞
Well deserved Oscar, and powerful speech! #equalpayiswhatwesay
Not if white women make 70 cents to a dollar men make. Not of women of color make 50 cents to a dollar a white man makes. Pay attention to the inequalities around you. Your experience is not universal.
@@outinsider Your blaming a speech about equality? It's not for SOME workers, it's wanted and meant for ALL.
Who the hell let J.Lo in the building?
She's an actress....I think
+GracefulDanny Stop hating on Jenny. She's from the BLOCK!
+GracefulDanny She was presenting an award that night!
+Lynn Turman HAHAHAHAHAHAHA jesus..
I don't know who u think u are but u have no right to say that about J.Lo. She is a respected woman with good looks and she is talented. More talented that u will ever be love. 😠😠😠 just saying xxx
Go Patty! slay with this speech ♥
what the hell J Lo is doing next to Meryl at the Oscars???
I've never seen an audience look so reluctant to stand up. Either you want to stand up or not! I'm looking at you, Naomi Watts.
might have reasons were not aware of. Too harsh a judgement
PREACH! i agree with every single word
I hated Streep's nomination for August: Osage County, I would have loved to see Thompson finally get another nomination after so many years.
I'm with you Patricia, you go girl.
Yaaasss, she did such a good job in the movie🙏🙏
Laura Dern was the best in this Top 5 but they DID NOT nominate the Best Supporting Actress that year. Rene Russo was by far the greatest in "Nightcrawler".
And stop trashing Jennifer Lopez. She acts better than 60% of our modern so-called "superstars" in Hollywood
Every Oscars night, i comeback to this. ❤
Favourite movie
Yeah it's easy to talk about wage equality when you're a millionaire
That doesn't even make any sense.

Remember, people, if you want an Oscar, make sure you film yourself throughout 12 years. No matter your acting ability, you will be nominated and win.
Patrica Arquette great speech! great dress!!
A member of the Arquette family has won an oscar!
Patricia really deserve it ❤️
0:51, a pregnant Keira Knightley in the audience, just 3 months before she gave birth to her daughter Edie!
With hope in her eyes, Emma Stone won an Oscar. So proud of her! ❤️
Meryl be like "YAS GURL! PREACH IT!"
Patricia Arquette was so good she received the Oscar from Jesus himself.
I know Patricia and she is truly a great person.
Andrea Nicolau she's one person I'd love to meet in person. Lucky you.
I am loving her in Severance.
I wish I could, I don't get Apple and can't afford yet another streaming service. lol
She legit done this movie with 12 years of her life, if she wasn’t getting it someone would have gotten stabbed
My ranking: 5.kiera Knightley-The imitation game: she Brought the needed warmth in a rather one dimensional role but she just didn't impress me at all. Best scene: Joan visits Turing in the hospital 3.5/5
4.Meryl Streep- into the woods: Streep is the reason to watch into the woods she is incredibly entertaining and she steals scenes like crazy but I just didn't find her award worthy :/. Best scene: "stay with me" song 4/5
3.Patricia Arquette-boyhood:she was very good at portraying a mother that raises her kids while fighting for her dreams, she is also heartbreaking at portraying her loneliness and desperation of her children leaving her to collegeUnfortunately the story didn't really let her shine besides her final scene, I was left wanting more of Arquette. Best scene: Mason leaving to college. 4.5/5
2.Emma Stone-Birdman: or the unexpected virtue of ignorance: Emma Is amazing at portraying her Sam's disconnection with her father but at the same time showing a lot of love for him,her chemistry with Edward norton and Michael Keaton is outstanding, she really adds a lot to Birdman and deserves much more recognition for her role. Best scene : Sam confronts her father about being relevant. 4.5/5
1.Laura Dern-Wild: Astonishing performance by Dern, in just 10 mins of screen time Dern created a three dimensional human being out of a potentially one dimensional role, she is tragic, inspiring and lovable all at the same time, she showed that no matter what a mother goes through she will always be happy for her children, her face when she finds out about having cancer is devestating to watch. her final scene in the kitchen was (in my opinion) one of the best acted scenes of 2014, her monologue despite being short left me in tears And heavily inspired. Amazing work, deserves far more credit than she is given. Best scene:"happy people sing" 5/5
1;36 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
poor him. now i knwo why he got that sad face all the time
Moh fal "Mother... Why won't you hold me?" :'(
Moh fal That ruined my night, thanks a lot.
Moh fal You should not be laughing, mate.
Moh fal Guy's such a bad actor he can't even get a hug properly. :D
Laura Dern is still so beautiful
The last two movies I’ve seen with her are Star Wars Last Jedi And Little Woman. And you were right
I don't mind Meryl Streep.
0:59 and now she has a real Oscar...
Sweet Alabama ! Finally she got an oscar
Wow Jlo has seriously lag issues
Totally and utterly deserving best part of the movie.
Patricia Arquette is beautiful
My favorite actress, the very first and always in the first place. Except for her, no one will be able to impress me 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
poor Ellar Coltrane he taps her on the shoulder and she's like NOPE, keeps walking and Linklater's like it's okay man I still love you XD
Meryl Streep catching the holy ghost did it for me. LOL that YES! she screamed.
I'll never forget the hilarious consolation hug Ethan Hawke gave Ellar Coltrane when Arquette prettymuch left him hanging.
Shes a loving person, she just missed it and wanted to hurry to stage to give that inspiring speech. Didn't want Oscar to cut off her important (FOR others) words. I'm sure she gave him hugs after.
Now Emma has Two Real Oscar
