Colby S That's completely up to interpretation. But to be real, even when you don't factor in the mentally and physically abusive lengths he would go to in order to achieve progress from Andrew, his intentions are still selfish (even if he's making Andrew a better musician) because he only wants Andrew to succeed so HE could take credit for it. @@Final_Fantasy_7 God is real, read the bible, their is a chance to see them in heaven, if you give thanks and follow the will of our creator. If your faith isnt strong I understand, I used to mock the bible and God myself but I cannot deny the truth now, its not to late to be forgiven, repent and come close to him and he will come close to you. Here is a testimony that helped build my faith. I gave the bible a chance and God, and started following his will, trying my best to turn from evil, sinful behavior. I was at thanksgiving and my grandma who has alzheimer's, who never makes sense anymore, mostly mumbling or just random sentences, randomly says to me this "Im so glad your becoming a good man now, I've always prayed for you" and then after started not making the most sense again.. my grandpa cryed because she hasnt made that much sense before in a long time. The Holy spirit, Gods spirit, that he gave to us had her say that to me and it was amazing. Maybe this can be a starting block for your faith in our amazing and loving God. He loves you, and he will love you more if you follow his will, believe and give thanks. I hope you read this and give it a chance, I understand doubts come but hopefully this helps or sows a seed in your heart ❤

Dizzy Blu Interesting view of it. I really feel like the ending, however ambiguous it msy have been, was plenty intense. I actually think the fact that its "conclusion" can be read in myltiple ways makes it even more brilliant. As an active musician, I understand the struggle of pushing yourself beyond your limits, so I felt the psychological torment was well represented. I also loved how the film was cut.

Just too anticlimactic and needed some more work to figure out a better endgame and maybe look at the structure of the whole film, whilst the individual pieces were quite good.

I hope Ethan wins one day though. He truly deserves it. It's a shame Norton never won though, and he's now past his prime.
But hey, at least they play in great movies and create memorable performances, an Oscar is just a trophy and I doubt it matters to them that much.

Probably the most insane performance of this decade. J.K. Simmons delivered the performance of his lifetime in Whiplash. He was so intense, so villain. Loved every second of his performance as Terence Fletcher. Just memorable. I think he should have thanked Damien Chazelle and Miles Teller, but whatever. His acceptance speech about call the parents was very beautiful. Congratulations, Mr. Simmons! :D
