Luke sol "The Truman Show?" Jesus Christ. You think a *COMEDY* like "The Truman Show" is "powerful and great" like "Whiplash?" Wow. Just wow. I think this conversation just ended. Good effort. (Not really.)
This had to be one of the greatest pools for an acting Oscar of all time. Robert Duvall, Ethan Hawke, Edward Norton, Mark Ruffalo, and J.K. Simmons. I really think any one of them could’ve won the Oscar too, all of them were absolutely incredible in their roles that year.
Ironically not a single tear dropping but a very human and tender speech from an out of this world actor J.K Simmons thank you for showing us how to love our parents.
Such a gentleman. Putting family on the first plan during an Oscar speech is uncommon but J.K.'s here to remind us the only real thing we have in this world.
I hope Ethan wins one day though. He truly deserves it. It's a shame Norton never won though, and he's now past his prime. But hey, at least they play in great movies and create memorable performances, an Oscar is just a trophy and I doubt it matters to them that much.
If birdman and whiplash weren’t released the same year he would’ve won the best supporting actor oscar. He was really good but J.K Simmons’ performance was something else
Probably the most insane performance of this decade. J.K. Simmons delivered the performance of his lifetime in Whiplash. He was so intense, so villain. Loved every second of his performance as Terence Fletcher. Just memorable. I think he should have thanked Damien Chazelle and Miles Teller, but whatever. His acceptance speech about call the parents was very beautiful. Congratulations, Mr. Simmons! :D
Robert Duvall: ''I don't give a shit I got one 30 years ago.'' Ed Norton: ''It's because I played Hulk right???!! God dammit Marvel.'' Mark Ruffalo: ''Aw man, not cool.'' Ethan Hawke: ''F*ck you guys, just, f*ck you. Training Day, and now this?.'' J.K Simmons: ''PARKER, take a picture of me and my oscar.''
What’s crazy is this award actually had a great selection of nominees, yet JK Simmons was still light years ahead of them. Truly a back breaking performance.
Oh my god, I barely started this video but I had to stop and comment on how flawless Lupita is. I just noticed that her skin is absolutely beautiful and perfect, let alone that she's gorgeous.. I've never been more jealous of someone's looks, just oh my god.
From his speech I can tell he's a wonderful person and has everything one needs to be called "Great!" And if you can call your parents, then call your parents, just like the man says
I love it to see, that these comments are still so active although this video was released 5 years ago...It just shows how awesome J.K. Simmons is and how awesome Whiplash was!
2014 was one of the best years for movies in the history of cinema. Birdman, Whiplash, Foxcatcher, Grand Budapest hotel, American Sniper, Imitation Game Yet it was unquestionable who was going to win best supporting actor Oscar. Terrence Fletcher terrorized audiences
@@adk7439 yes, what's fox catcher? And American sniper was about a guy who we later found out lied and smeared Jesse Ventura viciously. Also, cool snipes, mediocre movie. Forgotten. One of the best winners ever in this category!
Matt St.Clair no . In the movie , He just scream . I could do better , more agressif
BatGameList LOL seriously?
BatGameList if you really think so you are one hell of an idiot
The best supporting actor winner since Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Bestards or maybe Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight
hei wai lam he was way better than shitty Christoph Waltz.
He was absolutely the man for that role. Absolutely commanded the character and the scenes.
His role in Whiplash was amazing. Damn, he really nailed it! Well earned Mr.Simmons.
Whenever i read some angry comment.. my inside voice will always be him..
Spotlight was too good
Audience: Applauses
Simmons: “ *double time swing* “
Not my tempo.
No, double it. Faster!
Lupita Nyong’o: “the Oscar goes to... J K Simmons”
J K Simmons: *throws a chair at her cuz she was dragging*
The actor goes to
Or was she rushing?
@@mateoalmandos2131 you mean Nakia was rushing
@@mateoalmandos2131 I, I, I dunno

Just finished watching Whiplash for the first time 15 minutes ago. This will forever be one of those movies I wish I could watch for the first time again and again. Captivating, start to finish. J.K. Simmons played a masterfully written character...masterfully. Absolute masterpiece.
That's a bold thing to say since u had only just finished watching it for the first time 😂
@@tammushican4823you only need to watch it once to draw this conclusion. That’s how great of an actor this man is.
@@tammushican4823 I don't know. It was pretty incredible. I just spent an hour watching peoples reactions to watching the film. It is that good, just watching it again trough the eyes of drummers, to just youtubers that react to stuff. I would watch more reactions if it wasn't so late. Can't wait to suggest this when I am on vacation or in a cabin with friends.
watched it last night.. still thinking about it... classic film
I just finished watching "Whiplash..." No wonder J.K. won.... VERY intense / inspiring movie, probably one of the best movies I've seen in a LONG time!
Unrealistic and over the top soppy drama doesn't equal great or powerful
Luke sol Then please tell me a movie that is powerful and great please?
highmetalman6 full metal jacket, apocalypse now, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, the truman show, citizen kane, withnail & i, 2001: a space odyssey, the good the bad and the ugly
Luke sol "The Truman Show?" Jesus Christ. You think a *COMEDY* like "The Truman Show" is "powerful and great" like "Whiplash?" Wow. Just wow. I think this conversation just ended. Good effort. (Not really.)
highmetalman6 oh great. The truman show is a comedy now. Someone doesn't get what good filmmaking is.
Simmons was like a force of nature in Whiplash. His win was truly deserved.
"Parker! Parker, where are you?"
"Hurry up, take my photo!!"
Hey, an original comment.
I head to beat an old lady with a stick
Glad the academy got this one right...even in a group of fantastic nominees and their performances. What a stacked year
Lupita is so gorgeous.
She's divine. Let's put it like that.
And the actor goes to... the Oscar goes to.
Myriam EH I'd tap that my friend
Myriam EH you mutn...mustn't
+Livio Patriceli You tap your bongo? I bang mine, not tap it.
Awesome competition, to be sure, but no one else had a shot that year.
you forgetting how much j.k was praised for that role, wasn't even close.
His acting in Whiplash was unparalleled
One of the best Oscar speeches ever. Simple, loving and endearing!
I just ended watching whiplash. What a Masterpiece. For a drums fan, this was gold. Great performances.
And for a non drum player it was 10/10 movie every aspect was perfect.
1:31 never realised even Jesus himself gave him a Standing ovation
@Geralt of Trivia Yes, lol
Lol!! 🤣
Hahahahhahaahhahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahhaha
Geralt of Trivia it is Mr. Cavill... I mean, Geralt.
I knew exactly who you were talking about before he came up 🤣 killed me
I wish they would play the movie clips that appear as every nomination is announced
At least they didn't cut the actors' reactions like last year!
If the Academy had the rights to show the movie clips during the telecast, then why not on RUclips? I just don't get it.
It's only cut in this video
NaviJediMaster Because the copyrights work is illegal.
They do during the actual show, they just don't here because of copyright
perfect performance in whiplash, he truly deserve this
Ironically not a single tear dropping but a very human and tender speech from an out of this world actor J.K Simmons thank you for showing us how to love our parents.
Will someone FINALLY get this man some much deserved pictures of Spiderman?
+BAwesomeDesign lol
XD
Such a gentleman. Putting family on the first plan during an Oscar speech is uncommon but J.K.'s here to remind us the only real thing we have in this world.
He's the man. Elevates everything he is in. Sad my boy, Ethan Hawke, lost but there's no shame in losing to the best.
I hope Ethan wins one day though. He truly deserves it. It's a shame Norton never won though, and he's now past his prime.
But hey, at least they play in great movies and create memorable performances, an Oscar is just a trophy and I doubt it matters to them that much.
Simmons in oz is fenomenal
JK Simmons is one of the most underrated actors!!! he is brilliant!!!
Not that underrated since he won
Loved the ending of his speech.
A truly awesome speech.
It's also awesome to see such a spectacular character actor like J.K. Simmons win this award.
"and the actor goes to...."
Oscar
Mystery Shack
Simmons: not my tempo.
1. 2. 3. Go
@alelusio hey come on man!
I would love to see Edward Norton winning an Oscar someday. He's been so underrated...
Actors are not underrated just cause they dont win an oscar, hes been nominated 3 times, we know he is fantastic. He is not underrated
@@Maaden84 You got a point there. And now I've found out that Edward Norton has an atrocious fame in the set. I don't know if it's real or fake...
Yeah I don’t think anyone underrates Edvard Norton :-) ❤️❤️
@@Mr.Tin_88 I believe this to be true, there are many stories from American history X to The incredible Hulk
If birdman and whiplash weren’t released the same year he would’ve won the best supporting actor oscar. He was really good but J.K Simmons’ performance was something else
One of the most finest acting i have ever seen..
he wasnt surprised at all haha
starkingbiker we all knew he was gonna win ;)
And even if he would have been, Mr.Simmons is modest and down to earth, he's not that kind of "freaking out loud-personality" to my mind.
starkingbiker Fun fact - you had to be 10,000 dollars to win 100 back on him winning.
Simmons! :D
100% well deserved!!! He was so great in that role! ✨👏🥺
Robert Duvall: ''I don't give a shit I got one 30 years ago.''
Ed Norton: ''It's because I played Hulk right???!! God dammit Marvel.''
Mark Ruffalo: ''Aw man, not cool.''
Ethan Hawke: ''F*ck you guys, just, f*ck you. Training Day, and now this?.''
J.K Simmons: ''PARKER, take a picture of me and my oscar.''
Mark Ruffalo played Hulk too!!
+Jérémie Bradette I liked this for the last quote. Very much loled
Mark Ruffalo: It's because Edward Norton is the better hulk, right?
LmAo!!!! Great fucking comment!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just want to say that Lupita Nyong'o has to be one of the most beautiful people in the world. WOW
...When they clap...
J.K. Simmons: “Not quite my tempo, try again”.
What’s crazy is this award actually had a great selection of nominees, yet JK Simmons was still light years ahead of them. Truly a back breaking performance.
Disappointed his first words weren’t *“Not my tempo…”*
Miles standing up was just so wholesome 😭 He was so proud and happy.
Oh my god, I barely started this video but I had to stop and comment on how flawless Lupita is. I just noticed that her skin is absolutely beautiful and perfect, let alone that she's gorgeous.. I've never been more jealous of someone's looks, just oh my god.
Missed golden opportunity for him to say ''Not quite my tempo'' to the orchestra
"Parker! I want that Oscar on my desk NOW!
From his speech I can tell he's a wonderful person and has everything one needs to be called "Great!"
And if you can call your parents, then call your parents, just like the man says
I love it to see, that these comments are still so active although this video was released 5 years ago...It just shows how awesome J.K. Simmons is and how awesome Whiplash was!
This year’s Best Supporting Actor nominations was outrageous. Some of the greatest actors alive right now in amazing movies with amazing characters.
The most deserved Oscar win for a looooong time.
2014 was one of the best years for movies in the history of cinema. Birdman, Whiplash, Foxcatcher, Grand Budapest hotel, American Sniper, Imitation Game
Yet it was unquestionable who was going to win best supporting actor Oscar. Terrence Fletcher terrorized audiences
Most the movies you named are quite mediocre - and already forgotten
Interstellar is the most significant movie to come out that year and did not even get nominated for best picture or best director.
@@adk7439 yes, what's fox catcher? And American sniper was about a guy who we later found out lied and smeared Jesse Ventura viciously. Also, cool snipes, mediocre movie. Forgotten.
Grand Budapest is a FANTASTIC movie imo, as is of course Whiplash. I've only heard of birdman, but I hear good things. Imitation Game is also unknown to me.
@@systummhanger8216 CORRECT.
I tought his first words after the applause would have been "not quite my tempo"
Lol yes 😆
This is the most deserved Oscar of all time.
So well deserved. One of the greatest, most intense performances I’ve ever seen
Most simple, elegant, humble speech for the most deserved award 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Every time he said "thank you mum and dad" at the end of his speech, I felt heartwarmed. What a personal and sincere speech which can totally deliver his gratitude and emotion to the audience. I love this funny, sincere and talented guy!
I don't understand why so few people gave standing ovation to him when compared to Redmayne, Moore and Arquette's win. He delivered the best acting performance of 2014!
