Look I understand compared to the us and allot of Europe the crime is low, but in saying that there is still a massive problem with crime only in certain towns/villages but if you avoid putting yourself in a situation you should be fine, the area where I live and grew up in the northwest is lovely but once you look under the surface you'll find allot of dark, depressing, and really just sad things I'm not going to go into it but Im sure you get the picture, drugs and alcohol mixed with poverty can really mess people up, honestly alcohol more than anything has brought allot of problems

People here on welfare take home 3 times the salary of a Polish or Portuguese worker and I can tell you for a fact that the crime rate here is literally nothing compared to most of the world. I appreciate honesty and, I know the truth when I hear it. I´m 58 now planning on retiring in Cork just after 2028, and, I'm sick to my stomach over it. I've lived in Carolina and Florida my whole life. Ireland is a cold, wet, dank place where the food is absolutely the most bland, tasteless pile of nothing of any country on Earth. So, married Irish and have no choice other than staying in the US, which I won't. I´m trying to adapt by getting thin, learning to cook Spanish, French and Italian food at home. IF I can find some English speakers who'd rather Speak Spanish and live in Spain, would rather speak Spanish or are Spanish, I can make life worth living in Ireland. After driving 40 years in the US, I cannot drive in Ireland. I´ve seen way too many serious wrecks causes by US expats in Ireland. Far too easy to forgot other side of the car, other side of the road. A perfect example of how Ireland tried to be weird compare the the world. Right now, I´m HATING the thought of living there. Whereas mitigation for termites was easy in Florida just by buying a first floor of all block, there is no mitigation for Irish Rotting Damp. It can literally destroy your home and there´s no insurance. I though hell was hot and on fire. Apparently not.

We found Ireland to be delightful. Every place has its problems, but every place also has its special charms. Hopefully you can find some when you move. And getting used to driving on the other side didn't take that long to have it become 2nd nature.

He gave me the choice not to go and, I realized all the reasons I'm leaving the US cannot be mitigated, will only grow and, Ireland is what I make it for myself. Like you said, special charms and people to befriend. Thank you. Okay, Ireland.
