The Dark Sides Of Living In IRELAND

- Опубликовано: 10 июн 2024
- Living in Ireland comes with significant challenges despite its high GDP per capita and natural beauty. Economic concerns, including infrastructure struggles and job scarcity outside Dublin, drive 70% of young people to consider leaving. High living expenses, including costly fuel and housing, add to the burdens. Healthcare waits are long, and Irish customs, like tea consumption and slang usage, may be surprising. Ireland's unique approach to marriage and strict smoking bans are notable. The country's unpredictable weather and complex driver's license process pose additional hurdles. Yet, Ireland remains appealing for its education, safety, job opportunities, and welcoming community.

Marriage is for life. No time limits set. What you suggest is incorrect. Divorce is available. I'm Irish.
You have forgot the ongoing immigration problems , Ireland have been enduring in the last 5 years onwards on Mass . 😢
Indeed! That’s worth mentioning
It's weird that Irish people object to immigration, when they emigrated en masse to Canada, UK, America, Australia and so on due to economic stressors in their own country. So now they've got a good economy and BIG SURPRISE poor people want to emigrate to Ireland. What's the solution?
@MsLinda165 the Irish worked wherever they went. Economic migrants don't.
@@MsLinda165 It's hard to object when you are being exiled against your will to a life of indentured servitude in the new world. The British committing a holodomor resulting in the deaths of a couple of million people didn't help either.
@@MsLinda165 Are you actually shocked that a society that finally has an independent homeland after 800 years of brutal occupation doesn't immediately want to be ethnically replaced? Those aren't even comparable and I doubt you're too dumb to know that, unless I'm missing the news that hundreds of thousands of Irish people are immigrating into the middle east and demanding constant concessions and preferential treatment for their race and religion while skyrocketing the crime rate, openly hating the natives, and leeching off the carefully balanced welfare system while refusing to work?
Hi, I lived in Dublin for about 17 years, I'm Spanish and, well we are quite similar in our approach to life in general so the same way we love Irish in Spain, they really like us. About the stuff you say in the video, well, in terms of drinking, the situation is far worse than you said. the average Irish guy drinks way more than 10 litres of beer a week, trust me but yeah, the economy is a mirage because of the ridiculous taxes for the big corporations which sooner or later are going to go, otherwise the European Commission will suspend all the help to the Irish Governments which, if you ask me don't have or didn't in the past a clue about how to manage the Country. Take a look at the horrible ilegal immigrant crisis these days. I hope things get better for this Country which is my second Home.
Gracias from Cork. Irlanda has changed so much, for the worse. 100,000s of economic migrants have destroyed the Irish culture and security.

I visit Ireland atleast once a year, some year I visited 3X have lot of Irish friends and not even once someone said to me What's cracking? 🤷♀️ Ireland is a beautiful country, beautiful places to visit, lots of outside activities and great for shopping 🛒. People are super friendly!
Yea this guy was trying his hardest to make it sound terrible.
I think he means 'whats the craic' which is an Irish greeting.
@ruairi110 Craic is fun.
I'm Irish and can tell you Irish friendlies only lasts until you start to do well at anything. There's a whole other nasty side that nobody talks about.
If you are doing well here people cross the street.. to trip you up.
That's people everywhere , jealousy is a mofo
Ireland is a nation of begrudgers. They don't like anyone standing out or doing well.
Yeah, world leaders in back stabbing.
I was having a conversation with an Irish bro the other day (I'm Hispanic, btw) and this same topic came out, he told me "I have two best friends, who have been my friends since childhood: one is from England and the other from the US".
Interesting…but not entirely accurate. But it’s what I would expect from something generated in the USA. Try asking some Irish people about genuine facts and you might be surprised.
if there is very few rentals then why is their country now being invaded with immigrants ?
The immigrants don't know about the housing crisis, they only arrive to Ireland because of the social benefits which will go to hell soon if this situation continues.
The genocide of white cultures
Irish Govt doing it on purpose
Govt minister literally tweeted in multiple languages inviting them in. This guy’s party only polled 7%. But they writhed their way into a weak coalition govt. Irish are very angry.

If England gave up control and withdraw from Northern Ireland infrastructure, public Transportation, social services, and safety would all improve.
It would be a step in the right direction.
Rubbish. The Republic of Ireland could not afford to integrate the North without massive tax hikes.
Northern Ireland costs three times more to maintain than the money it generates. That's a fact.
Perfect explanation and clear voice 😍😍😍😍👌👌👌👌👌
Thank you!
As irish citizens , immigrate to Northern Cyprus at always 30 degrees centigrate to 40 centigrate with always motorways and affordable cars. Driving in all Cyprus is like in England, Australia , Thailand, Japan on the right side. İn all North Cyprus sterlings is the currency those locals worship and praise. Alcoholic drinks are very cheap, beer price in North Cyprus is 35 TL , 1 sterling is 41 Turkish lira; 1 litre spanish wine or italian puglia wine price is 70 TL. Studio or 1 plus 1 apartment rent in city centers of North Cyprus is just 400 sterling to 550 sterlings , some of them have got swimming pools like in Aphrodite Residences in Morphoeus Guzelyurt. Under hot weather citizens never get ill so no need for hospital visits, irish citizens can have allergies against polens, hays so you can get vaccination against allergy at North Cyprus Hospitals.
Excellent info! Thanks for sharing.
Irelands a tax haven but none if the money trickles down
Yes and no. Lots of jobs where created there because it is a tax haven. Jobs that would not be their other wise.
It actually does trickle down. You’d need to have a job to know that tho, social welfare louts shouldn’t receive the benefit from that, you already get enough of my tax money
There is about 3.5m native Irish and the rest are none Irish nationals.
Most new buildings are bought by Vulture funds then rented out in extreme prices mainly to foreign immigrants.
I agree with all of this, except that I don't see a problem with the smoking ban.
I'm Irish descent.I live just outside of Boston.I'm struck by how much of Dublin is attached houses with no trees.Massive outlays of brick and concrete.
Yes there are some parks in Dublin but most people live amongst the concrete and brick.
When I was there I found it stressful-endless walking on concrete,.This is true even in many suburbs.you have to take a car ride out to the scenic areas.
I'm used to porches, front and back yards and trees.even most apartment buildings have grassy courtyards and trees. There are oasis areas with benches.
Ever heard of the Phoenix Park? Look it up and you will see how silly your comment is.
I live in Ireland- depends the perspective. An US citizen is a downgrade but for an Eastern European its an upgrade
Moved from the U.S. to here. 100% UPGRADE. Trust me.

Either it Ai generated or created but it’s extremely accurate.
I've been to Ireland several times in the early 90's. Nice country. Pubs on every corner. A lot of good looking gals. Redheads with gray eyes. The cigarettes were outrageously expensive even then. I'd like to go back someday if I had the opportunity.

The country looks clean and beautiful, very nice if ever i could visit this country.
No it’s not clean people throw food on streets spitting and more
That's very sad if such a beautiful country but people's sense is like that.
Not clean at all. If you walk through Dublin today there is rubbish strewn everywhere and it has become tent city with migrants pitching tents along the canal and around city block.
Look up news reports about it. The council tried to remove the tents and unfortunately killed one person in the process.
Thank you for your reply, it's really very sad I didn't expect it would be like that on seeing greenary everywhere, but it's the same thing in my country too, people don't used their civic sense. They never think of what will happen to the beautiful nature in the long run. They need awareness.
There is a lot of dark side of living in Ireland but I use to have great time there
Did you do any research? Plenty of jobs in cork city and elsewhere
Going here this summer for family. They'e super fucking political & I'm having doubts about coming over a few rooms.

Stop the cap.
True mixed with Syria and Ukraine. The 3rd world counties of the world that is what has swarmed Ireland. Most are uneducated.
You can’t find any hotel availability anymore there. It’s filled with migrants that the tax payers pay up for.
@@Laughing_Individual No cap here, just facts
Your video is so factually incorrect. Divorce is available in Ireland but expect to be screwed for tens of thousands of Euro to get a divorce. There is no such thing as agreeing how long you will be married . It is NOT common to go to the Pub after work as most working people live from payslip to payslip as they have very little disposable income after the Irish government gets at their pay with direct and indirect tax. Mass uncontrolled immigration is the final nail in the coffin for Irish citizens, as it has put enormous pressure on every public service , medical , dental , and housing . This country is heading to its doom in my opinion because of appalling decisions by successive governments who evidently put the welfare of every other national above their own!
So much negativity .... how about a balanced view, not suggesting you lie, just say it as it is , which is a GREAT PLACE TO LIVE 😊❤
Everywhere costing thousands a month to rent. Who owns all these places? Who are all these people getting wealthy off the backs of poor people? Why can't the gov cap these charges? They dominate absolutely every other aspect of our lives so why not what can be charged for rents? Daresay they don't care. Once the migrants have their applications processed they'll bunk up together 12 to a room and the high rents wiil continue.
Why do content creators use AI for content and voiceovers? This is crap
Make video on Slovakia brother please, thx

I lived in Ireland for two years and it was a truly miserable experience. Extremely expensive, customer service is crazy, the customer can be insulting you straight to your face and you have to sit there quietly and take it. Dublin is disgusting, the buses smell like pee, coming home from work in the evening in Dublin is a literal nightmare. Drunk people screaming everywhere and doing whatever they want, addicts on every corner and the so called "Garda" is useless and does absolutely nothing to protect people's safety. Also, the Irish are not friendly, they just like blabbing. That doesn't mean they want to be friends with someone it's just considered impolite if there is silence between two people. People from my experience are actually awful hypocrites. They play nice in front of you and keep praising you and then they go and trash you behind your back. The public transport is a joke and extremely expensive. I hated every second of my stay in Ireland and I won't set foot there ever again, even for holidays. It's an awful place to be.
Recovering from the recession?? Seriously people. Learn facts first. Last recession was over 11 years ago. Sheesh.
Its a ISLAND .
It makes me not want to go there. Irish people, are those things about health care and housing true? It makes it sound like a third world country! That stuff about marriage terms is the weirdest thing I've ever heard, my first thought was what is he talking about - is that some kind of unwritten agreement, does it even exist and where, and how does it happen? I am sure that in one of the most religious countries in Europe, there is no way you get officially married for a given period and then decide if you want to extend it or not.
Derry? Huh? There isn't a town in Ireland called Derry.
It's Londonderry.
There's a shit ton they got wrong in this video, but that part was correct. Derry 😊
Extremely inaccurate video, don’t even know where to start w/ spotting the false info
That's because you can't.
So you don’t agree “the weather can be harsh “ 😂 I’ve lived there over 20 years and it’s by beyond harsh. It literally rains 320 plus days out of the year with sideways rain blowing it the winters. It’s miserable!!!
@@jasonknight5863 Alaska is warm this time of the year!!everything is relative.
@@lindalonergan7887 well in Ireland this time of the year it’s only in the upper 50’s and lower 60’s… still raining. 🌧️ most days of the week.
I’ve also lived in Minnesota a place just as cold as Alaska in the winters. And that’s a whole diff different kind of icy 🥶 miserable. I don’t miss just going to the mailbox at the end of our driveway and the sub zero cold starting to freeze up my eyeballs and eyebrows.
Ireland has a different kind of cold than Alaska or Minnesota ( a dry cold)
Ireland has an intense cold that it goes through your bones a humid kind of cold. Both are downright miserable.
We ended up moving to Florida. Heaven on earth especially all Fall, Winter and Spring. Low humidity and perfect weather conditions.
@@jasonknight5863 I'm expat irish myself and can't see myself living in ireland again but it's got nothing to do with weather, more to do with migration and services. Ireland having problems building roads ? Hard to believe that
Ireland is cheaper on many things than Australia. Not everyone is a high earner either
Only some of this is true internet here is as good as anywhere I have 500mbit for 60 euros, petrol is about the same as the UK , food is much cheaper, car tax is horrendous but insurance is about the same wages are higher than the UK and tax is about the same, in the UK I paid close to 1800 pounds a year council tax here I pay 90 euros and pay separately for rubbish collection I could go on but the result is I would never go back to the UK life is better here the culture and the people.
As a side note it is easy to criticize the health service and it is starved of money but they saved my life the people who reacted and cared for me were qualified and professional not like in the UK where they are overworked to the point of abuse I would have died had I been there
From my experience; car tax dearer than UK, car prices dearer, insurance dearer, food prices alot dearer than in the UK, income tax is the same but, we had to pay for bin collection and other things that were free in the UK. Alcohol prices were so much dearer in Ireland, then they brought in sugar tax (raising the price of fizzy drinks ) and the stupid bottle scheme where half of the machines didnt work.
I don't know when you lived in Ireland but it seems now, the government wants to make it as hard as possible for anyone to live in Ireland by putting taxes on everything. That's why I left.
@@ruairi110 the plastic bottle thing is annoying but I maintain it is cheaper here I still live in Tipperary and Everytime I go back to the UK I am astonished what it costs just to feed us

Every second statement is invented, and what human being says there were "eight fifty one homes available for rent" instead of "eight hundred and fifty one homes were available for rent". The marriage one is absolutely wrong. I'm Irish you're simply wrong we don't determine the length of marriage I think you've confused us with a different country as Americans often do. The AI voice isn't cool. Also it's "what's the craic" not what's cracking!!!😂 A
Not true.. every person not from Ireland routinely mixes up that “Craic” terminology. I hear it all the time.
A lot of facts wrong here in this video A LOT
"hey what's cracking' that's a phrase used by somebody who knows nothing about Ireland... Typical American bs 😂
Every one not from Ireland will mix up that “craic” terminology. Nothing new. It is a very odd word to use. To the world it’s known as crack cocaine.
But that is all you got from that video ? figures….
@@jasonbrodierqevermy1998 it's not an "odd" word, it's a word from the Irish language 🙄. And, no, I didn't get anything from this video... I don't need to, I live here and I don't need someone who's never lived here making stupid statements, just for clicks and likes. Got it? Good! 🤗
These are supposed to be reasons why young people consider leaving Ireland! Does reason 10 really qualify!?😅 O Mr USA
Yes all reasons added up, more than qualify Fintan. The 300 plus days of rain and wind every year by itself and high payroll taxes did it for me by itself in just 2 reasons.
