what i absolutely love about Raylan is the fact that he does outlaw shit to outlaws and they are always surprised. He gives them a chance and is so matter of fact with what he does. Elmore leonard man - he was a genius
See, I disagree. Raylan doesn't do outlaw shit to outlaws. He does the right thing to outlaws. Sure, he crosses the line on more than a few occasions, e.g. allowing Sammy Tonin to kill Nicky in season 4. But ultimately, he does the righteous thing, e.g. not killing Dickie, not killing Boyd. He is not an anti-hero or a villain protagonist. He is the closest thing we have to a righteous hero, in this era of villain protagonists, e.g. Tony Soprano, Walter White, Dexter Morgan etc. I realise Raylan of season 1 was a little trigger happy. However, you'll notice he is considerably less so as the series progresses. This was because a real life law enforcement officer informed the creator that if an officer acted like that in real life, they'd be buried in paperwork. Indeed, you can see this is S02E01 where he is doing shit ton of paperwork for his multiple shootings. He also explains to the pederast in the same episode that he wants to avoid the paperwork that will come with shooting the pederast.
One thing i loved most about Justified is that the entire show was basically southern street justice, Raylan Givens was incorruptible like Raymond Reddington in The Blacklist. Raylan legitimately looked out for the small guy even when being the underdog in definite situations. He liked how criminals felt so certain in their power, so he simply used that against them by justifying a near abuse of power.
Boyd crowder's way of saying, "raaay lin givens" echos in my head every time i read, hear, or think of the name, after binge watching all the episodes. If there was a modern day john wayne, or anyone that can be compared, it has got to be raylan givens. Thanks for this video.
I LOVED Timothy as Raylan. It was a great part for him and he played it so well. He had that Eastwood swagger and delivery with a tad more sass. I need to go back and research the whole series

Best crime/police show on TV ever. Funnier than hell too. Tim Olyphant and Walton Goggins are each masters of their own acting arts. Watching on Amazon Prime TV and I'm only in Season 3 but enjoying a couple of episodes each night to finish off my day with a laugh fest. It just has gotten better with each new episode.

Justified is unequivocally one of the best TV shows ever. Clever and funny with whip smart dialogue and sublime casting. It does bad-guys as season anchors like no other show I’ve seen. What I loved about Raylan was he wasn’t trying to be cool, he just IS cool. Nobody I recommend this show to ever comes back and says “meh, it was alright”, everyone comes back saying “holy shit, that’s one of the best TV shows I’ve ever seen”….and deservedly so.
Yeah. As close as we can get to Eastwood these days. Olyphant really should have been the one to play Roland Deschain, the gunslinger, in the dark tower. They should have made it follow the book properly and not gone all PC by changing the character to black when the story and other characters depended on him being white, and absolutely it should have been Olyphant in the lead. He's just about the right age these days to play the gunslinger, he has the Gary Cooper walk, looks perfect in the hat, pulls a gun pretty fast (with hollywood trickery and a bit of basic firearms training of course), and now that Justified is finished, and they have done shooting for the deadwood movie, he has time to focus on another good season of tv for HBO or maybe netflix, in order to do the dark tower right

I saw a cou video on the series here and I was hooked. I bought the Season DVD's one after another until I had them all. I have never done anything remotely similar in my life. I thoroughly enjoyed this show from the first episode to the last. I've watched some of them more than once. I highly recommend this. Language is rough at times, but it is likely indicative of language used in the real versions of this show.

Season 1 of Justified to me was in a way like a live version of cowboy bebop with its episodic approach and an overall arching story that dealt with Raylan, Boyd Crowder and the history of their hometown like Spike dealt with Vicious and the history of the syndicate
No mention of Elmore Leonard? He created Raylan and alot of the other characters. The reason this series was great is because the writers managed to mimic Leonard's writing style perfectly. If you liked Justified then read some of Elmore Leonard's books. you wont regret it.

Hot Fuzz had to be one of the most underrated movies.
I stumbled upon this series and glad I did. Timothy Olyphant reminded me of a modern day Clint Eastwood in this series. A must watch.

No mention of Elmore Leonard? He created Raylan and alot of the other characters. The reason this series was great is because the writers managed to mimic Leonard's writing style perfectly. If you liked Justified then read some of Elmore Leonard's books. you wont regret it.

As great as the entire series was the first season was my favorite and IMO the best.
Timothy olyphant as Raylan givens/seth bullock is my second all time favorite gunslinger portrayl behind only of course val kilmer as doc holliday
8:57 being my most favorite scene from this show by far.
Ummmmmmmm did you even watch the show? lol. There's a million better scenes than that. Yes, it's a great sequence, but there's a lot of scenes that top it.
