Deputy Raylan Givens has his own, Wild West-style methods of upholding justice, putting him at odds with the criminals he hunts and with his bosses in the U.S. Marshals Service. And an incident prompts his reassignment to the Kentucky district where he grew up. The character is based on one created by author Elmore Leonard in several books and short stories.

Have watched the show 3-4 times and never get tired of raylan and boyd's back and forth dialogue. Great show.
Yeah, I’m thinking about reloading my flask with bourbon 🥃 and watching the 6th time.
I can mouth many of the lines now. They are so GOOD.
@@JASHJustASectionHikerha ha Right!
@@JASHJustASectionHikerwalter is such a great actor.
@@JASHJustASectionHikerI
"God damn woman you only shoot people while they're eating supper?" Hahahaha. Classic.
It never gets old.
Great line
Boyd and his Boyd-isms are always great
@@TheRealBDoublethe long winded conversations !
@@TheRealBDoubleHave you checked out the new show on Paramount called Fallout (based off the vid game)? He’s in it and he has VERY similar deliveries and sayings. Love the actor!
The scene where Arlo was setting Raylan up damn near breaks my heart
Notice how Raylan is eating with his off hand? These small details are what made this show a classic
I liked how they framed that full moon in the background during the showdown with the 2 gunmen
Uh no! Its just common sense
Nice? I see nothing gets by you. Wonders will never cease
"Near" and "off" come from the days when horses were the main form of transport. As white people mounted the horse from the left side it was referred to as the "near" side while the right side was the "off" side. This carried through to the automobile age with the driver mounting from the left.
The native Americans mostly mounted horses from the "off" side.
@@brianbrigg57
I don't know how much time you've spent with Native Americans but since they rode without saddles it only makes sense that they would mount from the side closest to them. Left or right would depend upon the situation.
the phenomenal nature of the fact that Raylan and Boyd were good friends from a place where that means something and turn out to be on opposites sides of a deadly game and STILL find ways to be cordial and honor their history together while being as ruthless as they both can be is awesome to watch...
They know that things are going to play out in one way or another and it's the nature of the game they play and they know it....but they still remember their roots.
I think that's what I like best about this show...and there's a lot to like
Original Script? Boyd dies here. He tested so well they wrote him back in during the development phase.
They were never friends. They dug coal together.
For anyone that hasn’t seen this series from start to finish your missing a great series I’m loving this
"Might get me in trouble one day" is a great line.
So I read somewhere that Walt Goggins was only supposed to be in the first season. I am so glad they changed that. His character was an excellent counterpoint to Timothy Olyphant's throughout the series, and one of the most likable villians on TV.
This is factually correct. But WG's acting just blew the script drafted out of the water. And guess what......he's baaaaack....'Justified Prime Evils' final screen shots show 'Boyd' escaping prison with a female guard he;'s banging so the future of what now seems a franchise is bloody good.
He was only supposed to be in the first EPISODE**
He was just intended to be a character in the Pilot episode. Which makes his arc and impact even more amazing in retrospect.
They Dug Coal Together.......
Yeah that shot hit him dead center of the chest. He was dead. AND THEN HE WASN'T!
Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins were incredible in the original series. Some of the best acting I've ever seen in any show.
One of the best shows ever on tv.
I stumbled across the show online and binged all of it in a couple weeks. Goggins and Olyphant are the jewels in its crown.
I loved it since it first appeared on TV. I had already come to dig Olyphant from HBO's Deadwood (a fantastic show, with similarly sophisticated dialogue). I consider him my generation's Clint Eastwood.
@@cshubs Yes - Deadwood too! Masterpiece. I bought the first season on import at eyewatering price years ago before I had access to any channel showing it.
Every scene between olyphant and Goggins is just gold.
So glad they didn't kill off Boyd Crowder in the pilot as was originally intended. Can anyone imagine 6 season of Justified without Boyd?
Hell nooooo !
Best bad guy ever! Very different in “Lincoln”.
God dam woman you only shoot people while they eatin supper!? 😂 🤣
One of my favorite lines :)
Had to be a shock when Boyd realized he was sitting in the exact spot where Ava had shot & killed his brother 🤣🤣🤣
Goggins was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama.. the Kentucky accent came natural
BANG!!!
"... then what happens?" 🤣
Im glad this show is still getting love. It was so underrared. I loved the characters. So well written. The dialog was golden.
I cant believe how much the show runners got out of a short story from Elmore Leonard.
This show had great character development and arcs.
Great villains, great storylines and plot. It was so good
Arguably the best TV series ever. It really was underrated. I still turn people on to this show and they all thank me later.
I used to look forward to Justified more than any other show, except maybe cheers when I was younger.
Did you know that Boyd Crowder was only supposed to be in the Pilot, and was supposed to be killed at the end of that episode, but the response to him by test audiences was incredible so they kept him for 6 full seasons.
@@Sharkman1963 I didn’t know that, but I can believe it. He’s a very interesting actor. He has that zing, like Tim Olyphant or Nick Searcey
@@Glum1964 Olyphant is in a very underrated, relatively unknown movie called "A Perfect Getaway" that is just fantastic. I highly recommend it if you've never seen it.
Nothing is by accident. Great show and I love the character development.
"God damn woman you only shoot people who are eating supper?" haha
"You only shoot people when they're eating dinner" LMAO
Not sure which season, but my favorite was the one between him and the gunfighter with the revolver and they both shot each other and you weren't sure if Raylan was dead or not...good stuff.
Yeah, it was the 6th Season finale, just finished watching it. I can't believe I have missed this show for this many years and it's one of the best ones out there, if not the best. I don't remember laughing as much as I did listening to those dialogues
Last season, least episode
best part was that it kinda showed that sometimes Raylan just gets lucky. If Boon hadnt gotten cocky and gone for a headshot (which marshals are trained to never go for, always center mass) Raylan would def be dead. Boon was just as skilled, he was too arrogant for his own good
@@brandonvacchio7614 True and Raylan getting lucky every now and then made the show excellent...the invincibility would've taken the fun out of it...
Raylan was a man of his word.
Fantastic series! Seen it 3 times all the way through! Best characters.. especially Boyd … gotta love him ha ha ! 🤩🤩
I like that all the guns aren’t Beretta 92s
Was reading Elmore Leonard last night & this scene! Quite a writer & this is a great show. Love Timothy
Olyphant is a fine actor, but all the others do good work, too. A first class production
I have watched all the seasons, more than once. The great characters and exceptional writing, the perfect casting, the show just felt together and smooth right from the start. It has to rank as one of the best shows ever. As has been said here, the Raylan/Boyd scenes are so wonderful they are a joy to watch. Well now I've got to get the DVDs out and watch it again.
What was Sheldon's dad think he was going to do??? 😂
Never watched the series, but Raylan Givens is the King of Cool…….😎
This is Deputy US Marshall Raylan Givens, I'm gon need an ambulance....and a coroner
😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks Timothy Olyphant..
Boyd...one of TV’s great characters....
So that’s how Sheldon’s dad died. A 9mm heart attack
The original series much better then the later one.
Every time I see that one scene now, you'll know the one, I shout "Don't do it George!"
A great show and it will be not easy to copy this.
One of the best series on tv
Please come back Raylon.
This is the show we need.
City primeval
Raylan did everything he could to NOT shoot him. He even tried to look intimidated and nervous about it, which he'll never do before any other showdown. Of course, by not killing him, a lot of people will die throughout the series.
In the last one, Raylan kills Jane Rizzoli's boss and Sheldon Cooper's dad.
Nope, that was Leonard’s bully from High School.
Love Rayland and Crowder, we watched it 4 times .
I think the best show ever on TV.
Arguably the best ever ending to a series
Family is always good...good food just heightens the sensation.
The top 2 being adapted from Pronto, the novel that introduced Raylan.
I find it hilarious that "Marshal" is spelled "Marshall" in the subtitles. Especially since they had an episode that mentions that.
The one I like the most is the one against the assassin disguised as an officer that brings Boyd into the station while Raylan just happens to be there.
Such a brilliant show 👍👍
Excellent writing from a legend
Great edit. Such a good show
"Marshal you ok?" Well...kinda. I mean just cuz the vest stops the bullet don't mean it doesn't hurt like hell
Bad bruises?
@@dennisyoung4631 that too
Alot of cracked ribs too.
Damn I didn't remember Boyd getting shot, especially by both of them.
She didn't shoot him.
@@Subangelis she shot him later in the series
I forgot that in Episode 1, Raylan killed Kirk Cousins in Miami. 😆
I’m not sure but I think that the actor in the “Use it or throw it away” scene was “Young Sheldon’s” Dad. Update: I checked IMDb and he does have an acting credit on Justifed!
#1 scene. Two shooters, two rds, two dead. Highly improbable.
By far #2 is the best...great buildup before the shot
That is because he had his gun the table with his right.
Raylan is a badass mofo. Great video I am going to try to find the videos.
"Gonna need an ambulance....and a coroner."
Damg he's good!!!!!!!
Please please please come back 😅😅😅😅😅😅😊😊😊
Th3 show is great and the star is definitely great 😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😅❤❤❤
His .45 is on the table but, it was not cocked!
Its double action, doesnt need to be cocked.
I would like to see another mini series like the City Primeval done in Miami
Damn his still walks like agent 47 with that suit even though its not black suit that walk I remember
Boyd was very impulsive.
Walton Goggins carries this show... a truly amazing and versatile actor.
Goggins is great and certainly was a major factor in this show’s popularity. I’ll add that the casting for all the major characters and guest stars was top-rate, with the possible exception of Michael Rapaport in Season 5 who was just cringy.
First times always the best lol
yo' got ice cold water runnin' thru yo' veins...
What model weapon does Raylan carry during the show?
I live just off Tates Creek Rd, I'm surprised that I didn't hear the shots!
like to have that ss impala if the dead guys are done with it..hard to find
Loved this series but I thought it was so dumb that eva and boyd got together in later seasons. Goggins is one of my fave actors though, he shines in everything he's in.
Bonding through trauma is more common than you think plus it’s a small town
Boyd is the classic predator, he did it with preaching , he did it with his men for loyalty and in the new series with the prison guard. He’s a snake thru and thru
His demeanor look like his other character agent 47 hitman. Calm and waiting.
Raylan shot Sheldon's dad!
In the short story, Boyd Crowder died….
Walton Coggins is awesome.
Goggins*
0:38 47 meets The Ghoul
Boyd Crowder will return
Who would do anything like that for $5,000?
5,000 now can't even buy you a new car
Damn, he shot Sheldon’s dad 😂
How do you not have the duel between him and boone on there?
Because it's gunfights from season 1, and that's not season 1. ;)
Notice how gunfights number 3, 4, and 5 are missing. 😢
It seems pretty ironic to me how Raylan and Boyd's relationship worked out especially in light of both of their father's being such an evil pair that neither son would have many qualms about killing their own fathers.
theyre both extremely astute and do have alot in conmon
In the last scene, isn't that little Sheldon Cooper's dad?
Yeah, Sheldon thinks his dad died of a heart attack, but we know what really happened.
I miss Boyd and the Hillbilly Community.
Not Sheldon's Pa!
For an otherwise smart man to put his hand on a gun in circumstances where an armed Raylan would perceive a threat to someone he cared about - astonishingly stupid move, Boyd.
Seems to me, It was his only move where he had a chance of taking controll. Everything else would mean surrendering controll to others. People do things because they want to, not because it's smart.
Boyd has reasonable fear Ava would shoot him just as she had shot his brother and had no knowledge she was someone Raylan "cared about" so not really a stupid move.
Never gets old.
Rayland and Dirty Harry 1 shot down they go!
Can I have his crab cakes?
Definitely not the Hitman 😊😊😊
In the Miami shootout, Raylan had his hat on backwards.
@@jamesmharejr3426 yes sir!
@@jamesmharejr3426his hat is correct. Look again
It's not
@@1911boomer no, it’s not correct! The buckle set should be on his left side, not his right! I’ve worn a cowboy hat my whole life, I can tell you 100% for sure, it’s backwards, in that scene. Also, you’d be surprised at how many “famous” country music singers, have been caught with theirs on backwards.
@@stevepauley2437 but if you look at how the band is thru the buckle . The band is correct . So it's not backwards
In that first scene, that is a lot of chicken for just two people... Just saying
You obviously never had good fried chicken, it's better than Lay's potato chips lol
@@Sleepindragon2 all I was thinking was that I hoped it did not end up on the floor because of the fighting 😋
Raylan Givens in Justified had to be one of the very best action, sort of cop shows on TV, thankfully Raylan was NOT atypical thieving, cheat, stealing typical cop.
Because, nobody would believe the hero portrayal. Cause, we all know most cops are of the this type.
And, I have never had an incident with the authorities,
who's this "we" shit you speak of?? So, never had an incident with authorities but you know they're corrupt? Gotta call bullshit on that!
I get the impression that *I would not be breaking the law by simply existing* if people like him were the rule.
Note: I would be working my hardest to obey every law I knew of. Much of the time, however, it feels like the very best I can do, in general, isn’t nearly good enough. It never is when you’re seen as intrinsically *wrong* in some way you cannot understand.
Perfection itself would not be good enough. *Not when the people around you feel that your existence poisons their world.*
He shot Sheldon's DAD!!!
Walton is the show why do people not understand this?
Call in a team that knows how to drain and bag...and I have question about that basement.. it needs real life plumbing
Top five LARP gunfights. Still not allowed to see Alex Baldwins gun scene where he actually killed someone.
Who is Alex Baldwin?
@@zackcolbourne6921probably meant alec baldwin
That isn't a scripted movie scene, that is a real death. If you like snuff films, you're in the wrong part of the internet.
Not wise with the answers that fell out of all of us. That's what he's using to control 9
After seeing a lot of clips on RUclips of this show I decided to get Hulu to watch it. I thought Raylan was gonna be a really cool badass, but we are now into season three and we've realized that he actually is a bit of a simping incompetent. How many times is he going to get his butt kicked or get shot by being downright stupid? And that worthless ex-wife of his has rubbed me wrong since the first time I saw her. I think I have more respect for Boyd than for Raylan. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great show with a great cast of characters and plots, and I love it when they throw a gotcha in that you never saw coming.
Another great show is Fargo, and the new season is getting ready to start this month.
I agree he gets caught up a lot about the girls he likes and trying to not kill Boyd, but he’s not incompetent. He tends to notice enough stuff to warrant his job, and he’s good in a firefight consistently but he’s only average in a fist fight, which is reasonable
@@arkhaan7066
Well the other night I watched the one where he was talking to the blond who was telling him how she killed that crooked guard in the hospital, and the male nurse just walks up behind him and jabs a hypo into him and knocks him out. Now someone who wasn't an idiot would wonder why she was freely telling him stuff that incriminates her in murder if she didn't have a card up her sleeve. Raylan is always putting himself in situations that a rational person wouldn't, and it's only through the benevolence of the shows writers that he wasn't justifiably killed ten times in the first season. I still think that Boyd is more intelligent and level headed than Raylan, and he would make a better U.S. Marshall.
@@chrislj2890 you can know something is wrong without knowing what’s going to happen next. And you as an audience member are always going to know more than anyone in the show because you have comparative omnipresence.
@@arkhaan7066
Well no matter what, the show is definitely entertaining with all of the plot and character twists.
@@chrislj2890 Yeah, and I agree that one of the things that makes it so good is that the main antagonist is actually competent. Boyd is actually a reasonable threat
Did they have to use free public domain copy pasted white bread bleached unfortified gunshot sound effects?
Good lord it's the same exact clip every time, too. So dumb. So so dumb. Come on. The whole show is about gunplay and they don't bother with... The gunplay sounds???
This show was awesome. The new season was TRASH tho
