Love the Thrawn Trology, it was one of the first expanded universe stories I read growing up. Seeing the artwork from it in this video was a huge nostalgia hit.
It would be interesting if Thrawn makes Tantiss his base of operations after returning. Perhaps the facilities from the Bad Batch era have been abandoned since then and still stocked with supplies since it was very much off the record books for the Empire and thus the Republic since then.
I bet Palpatine will order Tantiss to be blown up with Hemlock inside for the constant security breaches of elite clones running in and out of the facility and move project necromancer to the secret Sith World of Exegol. The project becomes so secretive that even the Imperial Remnant have no idea that Palpatine had already succeded with project Necromancer and try to recreate Palpatine after ROTJ. That’s also why Thrawn went to Dathomir at the end of Ahsoka instead of Tantiss, because the latter is not a thing anymore in this canon.

I do see, that if Tantiss is not destroyed by the end of Bad Batch, it will be the return place of Thrawn where he will meet with Hux and Palleon. Don’t know who will take the dark Jedi role, but I’m hoping it’s Baylan in someway so that Snoke’s full origins can be released finally (such as to why he looks different than Rey’s father but is still cognizant of his own being). I want there to be more meaning behind Snoke telling young Ben Solo that he wasn’t always known as Snoke. I will be happy with Star Wars (100%) when Palpatine’s resurrection is completely explained. Not the bits and pieces were currently putting together now.
In the Bad Batch, the facility is much larger it seems, than in legends. In the show, Omega’s room is close enough to the base elevation of the mountain so that she can hear Batcher howling and the tunnels from where the hounds are released are also relatively short (which seem to be not on the mountain side, and probably on the base of the mountain). The trenches on the mountain seem to go all the way around the mountain too. There is also a neighboring mountain that’s very similar to Tantiss. These are huge facilities, but I guess they would need to be to house zillow beast cloning vats…
This is literally the only show I care about from Disney. It will conclude so we'll have at least have that and The Clone Wars, this being an indirect continuation. All the rest of Disney Star Wars I couldn't care less about. It's, at best, borrowing from already long-established EU (Legends) but butchering it in that special Disney way.
That’s really cool, I always wondered what people thought the Clone Wars were like before the prequels came out. I learned in this video that people assumed that it was the clones vs the Jedi and the clones were evil. That’s actually a really cool idea, probably the inspiration for Order 66 in the story we got.
I mean, in Legends it was explained via CIS having their own Clones and "Clone-Masters" like Morgukai clone army that Pellaeon fought against and he recall it in post-endor books, and there was another Guy with his own cloning facility in "SkyeWalkers".
I have a feeling that if they bring Tantis for canon thrawn to use they may have it contain already grown clones in a form of stasis. They may still bring back the original cloning but who knows what they will do

Its entirely plausible he intentionally stifled, suppressed but preserved a superior process that would've interfered with his prequel trilogy plans yet might make an interesting contingency.

I really enjoyed listening to the expanded material, I don’t plan on getting the books, so hearing someone read off of it I really enjoyed, which is one of the reasons why I joined this channel!🙂
While I can't recommend reading the original books enough, if you can't read then searching RUclips for the audiobooks or audio dramas is an alternative! Listening to the fan made audio dramas is well worth your time, the voices aren't professionally done but the story is still the same and it's done well enough in every other aspect! And it's free lol.
Like a lot of the recent material, it definitely seems to be part of the effort to rehabilitate Rise of Skywalker by explaining the "somehow Palpatine returned" line.
Since we saw Thrawn heading to Dathomir I am curious if they are gonna clone the Dark Jedi who rests there - Taron Malikos. He kinda looks like Jorus, if you ask me. Mad clone of Dark Jedi enhanced by Nightsister's Magik seems like a worthy opponent for Luke in his current power. Probably too of a wishful thinking, but with the amount of references to Fallen Order in recent media - who knows.
7:30 (in legends) maybe this was set up as a fall-back continuity of government facility, similar to the ones that were made inside mountains (like Mount Weather in Virginia, Raven Rock Mountain in Pennsylvania, and others) during the Cold War in real life. Having a huge computer and a cloning facility Palpatine could quite literally build an army from essentially scratch (similar to what Thrawn did in the book).
Honestly - it'd be cool if what we see in Bad Batch was built by someone other than the Kaminoens, maybe an older group that was more advanced and could do it faster but just as good (maybe something dating back to the wars with the Sith and them trying to gain an edge) or maybe it was less perfected but still faster, something even more disposable than the Republic's clones, so you can get a useable soldier in 5 years or less, which lines up with what we may have seen in Mandalorian with the various Moffs and all as one of their projects, but at that rate of accelerated growing but the time their actually 10 their physically 40 - they aren't gonna last as long which isn't great in a protracted conflict.

So it seems to be almost opposite of Heir to the Empire. Also there's nothing that sounds like the Dark Force, and everybody fandom guessed as replacement Joruus C'Baoth (as if Filoni could not just import the guy like he did Thrawn and Pellaeon) is stranded on another galaxy or a good guy. The story seem in fact be jumping straight to the Last Command. 7:10 It's not. It's people writing source books taking something, not considering its original function and making it ridiculously overcomplicated, resulting in the fiction looking ridiculous in the new, unintended context. It's one of my bigger problems with Legends. What canon seems to be doing is a Filonism of on one hand Mount Tantiss being this whole complicated structure, and Thrawn's cloning facility, and giving it a backstory tying it to his bosses demanding buildup to the DT being the bottom line. However, notably Tantiss in new canon does not seem to be a cloning facility. They're experimenting in clone prisoners, but I don't think we've seen them produce a single clone, or the equipment for it. It could be that Filoni is just grabbing a name and giving it a new spin, while the facility remains unrelated to Thrawn because, again, Pellaeon seems to be building Thrawn a fleet.

I personally enjoyed and would highly recommend the first three Republic Commando books (I haven't read the last two yet), The Old Republic: Revan, and Maul: Lockdown.

I have read on Wookiepedia that Mount Tantiss was once the location of an underground fortress and lab used by the Arkanian mutant scientist and terrorist Zeta Magnus, who entered Darth Sidious' service after Sidious promised him immortality. The site was used as a major lab for the CIS' most important experiments during the Clone Wars with it being there that Magnus experimented on dashta eel tissue samples for the JK-13 security droids and where were laid the foundation of the Morgukai Shadow Army with the cloning tubes used and deviced by Magnus. The Spartii cloning cylinders were installed here by Kinman Doriana after he had stolen them from their origin place on Cartao, on Sidious' orders.
I personally would love to see you break down the original 2 battlefronts still, maybe just use the old games so you don’t need to rebuy the classic collection
I don't necessarily mind revising aspects of source material to better fit a narrative Dave Filloni might be cooking up. Only time will tell what thoughts lie beneath that cowboy hat, but what he and his writing colleagues have done has kept me interested in the animated series since high school! I would really like to see what they do with the M. count transfer in cloning... Maybe they link it up to Starkiller/Galen Marek's clone? Since they destroyed Kamino's facilities, I would think it was because they had no use for mass production and wanted to focus on quality over quantity, i.e. cloning force sensitives for a renewed Sith empire.
I'm really hoping we see Thrawn show up in the finale of Bad Batch at Mount Tantis and then Ahsoka S2 starts with him going there. Get all the threads connecting and maybe, just maybe, this web of references can explain "somehow Palpatine returned"
I think it might be to early for Thrawn to be apart of the Empire. I think it's closer to middle of the Empire being in power when Thrawn is discovered.

@@Superagent666 They just have Thrawn access one of Palpatine's databases. That can be done simply with one line of dialogue or they'll spend the money to do a scene but it's not a challenge.
I imagine that, seeing as Project Retcon (Project Necromancer) is taking place at Tantiss, the facilities will have either moved when Thrawn returns to the main galaxy, or that he wouldn’t know about it. I believe that the Night Sisters’ magic will be the Canon stand-in for Thrawn’s clones in Legends.
Losing a planet to a "filing error" is the sort of thing that would, and likely does, happen in Warhammer 40k. It seems weird that the comparatively more cohesive Star Wars galaxy where you can get anywhere connected to a hyperlane within days would have this be a thing for long.
OF-COURSE it was assumed the clones were the bad guys back in the day.. it was called the Clone Wars, as in they were fighting against armies of Clones. Dunno what the heck George was thinking when he made the Clones an army of the "good guys" fighting a mostly Droid based army. That would make it the Droid Wars, or possibly Separatist Wars.

#AskEck: Why have dedicated Interdictors when you can integrate/conceal them into Star Destroyers and SSDs? I always assumed the bulge on the underside of Star Destroyers being gravity wells.
A potential idea could be that the Mount Tantis we see in the Bad Batch could be phase 1 of the system. The Mount Tantis in legends could be the final phase. So if the known area is destroyed people will assume all was destroyed. Hide a secret base near a known base and let known base be destroyed so enemy assumes its all gone
I always assumed that it was supposed to be an emergency command bunker just as much as a storehouse (and even that aspect seemed more like a cache to be used in a crisis than anything else).

I actually like the Canon version of Mount Tantiss better than the Legends version. The Thrawn trilogy is fantastic, but it has some narrative choices that doesn’t really make sense.
I think it’d be kinda cool if, instead of finding Joruus on Tantis, Thrawn finds Mace Winduu in new canon. Although, I guess the whole point of Joruus is that he has the Battle Meditation technique, whereas Mace was never shown to have a particular knack for that specific ability. Still, might be a good way to satisfy the folks who want Mace back without it actually being the same Mace from the prequels; Winduu, not Windu ya dig? A mad clone, that is.

I could see the tantis base being destroyed by the clones and possibly taking hemlock down with it, this would be a way to end hemlock and tantis if they don’t wanna continue with it. Maybe the bases power station is rigged to detonate or its orbital bombarding
I can see the Bad Batch activating the self destruct system but it really only collapses all the points of entry not completely collapsing the entire mountain and with the perimeter fencing down the wildlife keeps anyone from excavating the contents inside.
Want to ad that if remembered correctly cloning too quick had bad effects for the clone because something with the force, so Kaminoen clone tech with a low accelerated cloning procedure and now these cloning cylinders as some old tech that Thrawn can still use his idea of those force cloaking creatures, but can only wait and see what they take from the source idea.
I always thought Palpatine used the Jedi from the outbound flight project to try to clone a force sensitive and Joruus was a result of that, unstable as he was.

Huh, didn't realize that the lore said Palpatine built it. My only exposure to Mount Tantiss was a fanfiction during the clone wars era, it established the place as being one of Darth Plagueis' facilities where he studied the ability to clone force users.

I think Tantiss is in Hux's control. He's theone running project Necromancer in the Mando era.

All Han Solo related series. I also think Lando's series is interesting as well, especially for me since it features Sorcerers of Tund.
I have read on Wookiepedia that Mount Tantiss was once the location of an underground fortress and lab used by the Arkanian mutant scientist and terrorist Zeta Magnus, who entered Darth Sidious' service after Sidious promised him immortality.
The site was used as a major lab for the CIS' most important experiments during the Clone Wars with it being there that Magnus experimented on dashta eel tissue samples for the JK-13 security droids and where were laid the foundation of the Morgukai Shadow Army with the cloning tubes used and deviced by Magnus.
The Spartii cloning cylinders were installed here by Kinman Doriana after he had stolen them from their origin place on Cartao, on Sidious' orders.

I don't necessarily mind revising aspects of source material to better fit a narrative Dave Filloni might be cooking up. Only time will tell what thoughts lie beneath that cowboy hat, but what he and his writing colleagues have done has kept me interested in the animated series since high school! I would really like to see what they do with the M. count transfer in cloning... Maybe they link it up to Starkiller/Galen Marek's clone? Since they destroyed Kamino's facilities, I would think it was because they had no use for mass production and wanted to focus on quality over quantity, i.e. cloning force sensitives for a renewed Sith empire.

I'm really hoping we see Thrawn show up in the finale of Bad Batch at Mount Tantis and then Ahsoka S2 starts with him going there. Get all the threads connecting and maybe, just maybe, this web of references can explain "somehow Palpatine returned"
I think it might be to early for Thrawn to be apart of the Empire. I think it's closer to middle of the Empire being in power when Thrawn is discovered.

@@Superagent666 They just have Thrawn access one of Palpatine's databases. That can be done simply with one line of dialogue or they'll spend the money to do a scene but it's not a challenge.
I imagine that, seeing as Project Retcon (Project Necromancer) is taking place at Tantiss, the facilities will have either moved when Thrawn returns to the main galaxy, or that he wouldn’t know about it. I believe that the Night Sisters’ magic will be the Canon stand-in for Thrawn’s clones in Legends.
I still prefer X11, Wayland isn't ready yet, imo. :)

Losing a planet to a "filing error" is the sort of thing that would, and likely does, happen in Warhammer 40k. It seems weird that the comparatively more cohesive Star Wars galaxy where you can get anywhere connected to a hyperlane within days would have this be a thing for long.
OF-COURSE it was assumed the clones were the bad guys back in the day.. it was called the Clone Wars, as in they were fighting against armies of Clones. Dunno what the heck George was thinking when he made the Clones an army of the "good guys" fighting a mostly Droid based army. That would make it the Droid Wars, or possibly Separatist Wars.

A potential idea could be that the Mount Tantis we see in the Bad Batch could be phase 1 of the system.
The Mount Tantis in legends could be the final phase. So if the known area is destroyed people will assume all was destroyed.
Hide a secret base near a known base and let known base be destroyed so enemy assumes its all gone
Well with the base destroyed the wildlife would be what keeps people away from it.

I always assumed that it was supposed to be an emergency command bunker just as much as a storehouse (and even that aspect seemed more like a cache to be used in a crisis than anything else).

I actually like the Canon version of Mount Tantiss better than the Legends version. The Thrawn trilogy is fantastic, but it has some narrative choices that doesn’t really make sense.
I think it’d be kinda cool if, instead of finding Joruus on Tantis, Thrawn finds Mace Winduu in new canon.
Although, I guess the whole point of Joruus is that he has the Battle Meditation technique, whereas Mace was never shown to have a particular knack for that specific ability. Still, might be a good way to satisfy the folks who want Mace back without it actually being the same Mace from the prequels; Winduu, not Windu ya dig? A mad clone, that is.
I love the Collection. On the Switch it runs like a dream and that one popular Galactic Civil War mod looks sick.

I could see the tantis base being destroyed by the clones and possibly taking hemlock down with it, this would be a way to end hemlock and tantis if they don’t wanna continue with it. Maybe the bases power station is rigged to detonate or its orbital bombarding
I can see the Bad Batch activating the self destruct system but it really only collapses all the points of entry not completely collapsing the entire mountain and with the perimeter fencing down the wildlife keeps anyone from excavating the contents inside.
Want to ad that if remembered correctly cloning too quick had bad effects for the clone because something with the force, so Kaminoen clone tech with a low accelerated cloning procedure and now these cloning cylinders as some old tech that Thrawn can still use his idea of those force cloaking creatures, but can only wait and see what they take from the source idea.
I always thought Palpatine used the Jedi from the outbound flight project to try to clone a force sensitive and Joruus was a result of that, unstable as he was.
You can make that battlefront video with the original games, they're still up on steam and I've gotten tons of enjoyment out of them in the past.
