Hey, Endymion. This RUclipsr called Th3 Birdman is currently doing a series exposing grfiters, and he used you as an example of what a grifter is, someone who tries to benefit from the culture war with media and stuff. I was just curious if you already knew and if you were planning to respond or whatnot.
good thing about the contract work of white men, is they not effected by the lay offs and get paid non then thats it and probably getting contracts for multiple studios while the actually Dev hires well they screwed. XD
People forget that in 2020 gamers unanimously crowned Ghost of Tsushima Game of the Year, but it still lost against The Last of Us 2 at the awards, because of activists in the industry. If people don't think Ghost of Yotei isn't a response to that, or a political message, they're not paying attention.
Wow. I forgot they came out the same year. Granted, I played GoT for probably over 100 hours and never touched TLOU2, but damn. You make a solid point.
Comment of the day, hats off mate, everyone seems to think that hiring a raging activist to play the protagonist of a much anticipated sequel was a weird coincidence smh. We saw what Sony did with the last of us, they butchered every character and story in that sequel with Dei messaging, living the game bland and soulless.
I used to be a contractor at Electronic Arts. Woke liberal women in management and regular programmer-type men implementing their ideas is exactly how it worked.
I've always suspected this. Women seep into predominantly men spaces then, instead of adapting, they change things to their liking while destroying it.
It definitely sounds a lot more interesting than most assassins. Creed story intros. Shame we will never get to see it unless the game gets delayed for like another year. lol
The art industry itself is very liberal and as soon as they find out you’re a conservative artist or dev they refuse to give you opportunity. This is why it’s so polluted
that comment itself is just so damn stupid. Not you saying it is stupid but what it really means is stupid. Like Liberal used to means freedom progressive, meaning lets free the boobs, lets focus on female beauty...etc and Conservative used to mean lets only show the ankles, lets be conservative and not show too much skin. When did Liberal means lets uglification all females and make them all omni gender, while conservatives is lets show more skin and make females more feminine. Like damn what the hell happened
I work in IT. Older white male here - almost 69. Your description of the industry is pretty on point. Hard skills vs. soft skills. Employees vs. contractors.

You must be young! ET back in the 80's damn near killed the whole gaming industry! The game was so bad people said gaming is shit! Nah you guys are overreacting lol
@@olsonbrandon91 so? your point? the fact that the comment isn't more original just shows the point being made, that most people who hear this "get used to not owning your games" speech majority of people will react with "ok, get used to not having my money anymore."
"Straight Male Gaming" (SMG) would be a hilarious contractor company to create and have people making contractor rates to make these games actually WORK lol.
The original story concept sounded so much more interesting than this current garbage with Yasuke and Naoe. I'd say Ubisoft deserved the backlash they received for abandoning the original story and having virtue signaling developers disrespect the Japanese culture. They know how bad it became. That's why they didn't bother to show up for the gaming showcase event in Japan.
Wouldn't been interesting if they were tone-deaf enough to show up to the Japan game event. Then again, I guess it's hard to ignore an entire country hating you publicly.
@@ni9274 Dude unless he reveals the identity of his insider, he won't be able to prove it. That is the reason he asked us to take with a grain of salt. And also most news stories come out as insider scoops before they eventually get proven. It's your choice whether to believe it or not. The only parameter is if his track record for insider information is good.
They are not removing Yasuke, nor they will increase the quality of the game within these three months. Rather they will just delete any offensive things they've added in the game including that hiphop BGM. Ubisoft's downfall is evident now.
If that’s what it takes to end these shitty practices, let people with actual experience call the shots and devs are made up of people with actual talent and not schmucks they found on the street to pad out checklists, then let it collapse, I say.
The sheer delusion, the arrogance to be the world's savior, teacher, and moral enforcer only fuels my resentment... and hatred. No pre-orders. There's no day one purchase. From now on, there will be nothing but sneering indifference.
How about no buying at all? Otherwise we keep going back and forth. No boiling frogs. No goal post moving. Nothing at all. Even a whiff of potential woke means no buy. Absolutely nothing.
Moral enforcer ? Do you go in prison for being conservative in the US ? how do you explain that half the population isn't in prison ? Yes you people didn't have any impact on BG3, Cyberpunk or Elden Ring, you have no influence
People have been saying for decades now, since AC1-2 were a thing, that they wanted a Hanzo Hattori AC game. They had it, they literally made it and were like nah George Floyd.
That's the original plan. The old team that made Ghost of Tsushima has already quit Sucker Punch studio and go elsewhere. The one that made Ghost of Wokei is a different team.
if I'm correct, there second invasion from Mongol like 10-20 year after first one.... they coulda just start from there and win but.... have to have a strong woman who can hold double long katana that not much men can do.....
Ubi CEO : "That sound fine.. but let's not make too fun for people to play our stuff, after all." "Put something related about current trend and.. ah you know what. Listen to our consultancy. Just do what DEI told you."
Altair died in 1257 as a Master Assassin, in 1274 Jin Sakai fought the Mongols in the land of Tsushima as the Ghost. These 2 legends basically lived almost at the same era, fighting Mongols using Guerilla tactics as an Assassin for Altair and as a Ghost for Jin, Damn.
sooooooo instead of capitalising on one of the most loved cultures on earth, to finally set the assassins creed lore in japan BUT with all their genius decisions, they choose to change it all because they were inspired by a criminal in the united states??
I highly doubt that Japan is the most beloved culture on Earth especially when you go back just a hundred years ago, but they are definitely one of the most interesting and fascinating cultures to the West, but most beloved culture especially in the West would go to the Romans and the Roman empire.
Initially I was interested in Yotei. But hearing about how the lead VA is, and hearing the original staff from Tsushima are all gone, more ism against Asian men, the foreboding ending that will piss everyone off… My interest in Yotei is dying.
Same here. I had (and HAVE) no problem with the idea of playing a game where the MC/protagonist is a female samurai! They WERE a thing - I believe they were called onna-musha (forgive the spelling if I botched it), and were traditionally known for proficiency with the spear and polearm (yari and naginata, respectively) as well as the dai-kyu bow. They WERE pretty damn bad-ass, in other words. That being said, they would have STILL been pretty feminine - they were still women in a very old-fashioned society! What I have no time for is preachy girl-boss nonsense in a setting where, quite frankly, that sort of behaviour would NOT have been tolerated. If these idiots want to be politicians or social engineers, they should DO that... and leave the hobbies of those who ARE NOT interested in that dreck the hell alone.
My interest is completely dead for me, I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt but when I noticed all the red flags like you said I said naw 🤚🏼 let the companies collapse from their own consequences.
@@Jonas-lj8ul that's all true but they were far more common in Jins time where they were honoured and had influence on their own. 400 years latter in Yotei's time they were far more uncommon and had no influence they weren't even allowed to travel. If they got special permission the needed travel permits and documentations about the destiny of the travel and on what business they were sent on and even then they were only allowed to travel as retinue of a man. I would have far less concerns if the game played in the same time as Tsushima but in another location with her as MC, and another VA wouldn't hurt tho.
@@Simulacrum29 See, I hadn't known that. I DID know that, in the latter part of the... I wanna say Edo period, but that's probably wrong, but around then that the Onna-musha were generally expected to remain in their homes to defend the property and younger children of the household - that was the focus of their training by the late "samurai age" - but that's about it.
Ubisoft learning that fake pandering won't make you money. If they gave the original team their freedom to create Shadows how it was planned to be with all Japanese cast and faithful to Japanese lore, no one would complain and everyone would be hyped for Shadows. Ubisoft is shooting themselves in the foot.
@@Backwolfblade I question the same thing. My assumption is that Shadows might be their last chance and if that fails, I expect Ubisoft to ask a big company to buy them up, like a Microsoft or Sony.
See you when AC shadow sells 20 millions You're literally believing this guy despite the fact that he didn't provide any evidence ? Crazy how naive you people are
I have a huge backlog, im in no rush or care to buy anything at this point so im good for a long time. If the industry can unf*ck themselves they wont see my money till then.
If Jotei flops you just know people will blow up the fact the MC is female and sexism is to blame. Wish Sucker Punch listened to what people want. Give us Jin Sakai 2
"People" is a strong word, more like bubbles on social media. The videogame industry is chasing the same kind of public who generated 1 billion dollars for Black Panther and Barbie. But to replicate that kind of stunt on the videogame market, it's not that simple, a completely different beast lol the "gamer" stereotype is already toxic, then you add the insane prices and time consumption, people would never pay $70 to watch Barbie, no matter how much "likes" they would receive on social media after dressing in pink, taking photos and promoting a millionaire IP for free. The only recent example of "inclusive" game that was a huge success, that was Baldur's Gate 3, the apex of the rpg genre, the quality itself already sells the product, even so, the marketing of BG3 never made too much of a fuzz about the "inclusive" elements of this game (the new Dragon Age is the inverse, the marketing and interviews are pushing this kind of promotion, stirring the "internet"). That Black Panther stunt, the protagonist "represents" black culture? This will never work in Assassins Creed, even more so with Japan as the background
As an actual industry contractor: yes, yes and yes ! And they truly still go out of their way to not hire (especially white or older) male contractors. Even on returning business (because of proven trackrecord) HR tries to ghost you during the proces !!!
Never worked on games..but I used to code backend for a couple databases....I could only imagine the bs that goes on in development, production, peer review/q&a, testing.... There's enuff crap with good teams...smh...I'm glad I'm retired
The original ACS story sounds utterly badass and would've been a Day-1 Edition buy for me. Even for an UbiSuck game that will drop to $20 in 6-months. The new version is just a hard pass. Oh, and my guess to how Yotei will piss-off Jin fans is if Jin is shown dying as a traitor and/or a fraud...and pathetically.
My friend is a stuntman in Vancouver and he was saying they're hiring diversity over talent. Ultimately putting them at more risk of injury, not being the best person for the job.
We live in weird times. Where you can't enjoy anything, and anytime something brings up a sequel, it destroys the first one, because it catered to their fans and it was good because it did so. Welp, lately my wallet is getting more and more shut each week. It's only a matter of time I put a lock on it, and a picture that says "Remember, remember, the devs are pretenders".
Imagine they just released it as intended with the japanese Samurai. No discussions, no heat. Maybe a huge success instead. But no, the put in Yasuke Floyd. Insanity!
I wanna say something, but might be too distasteful. Why using real life tragedy/occurance as excuse for character be what it is in the game is just.. not good. Game supposed to be fantasy, escapism, fun.. but instead, what we keep getting is hidden message and hidden agenda being put more and more that people start to relate much of real life.. smh.
I am gonna be the devils advocate for a bit , but hear me out. I am gonna say that Yasuke’s story is fresh and different. Samurais like Musashi and Toyotomi, while immensely important and marketable, have already been featured extensively in Japanese and global media for decades. Yasuke, on the other hand, offers a new perspective and narrative that stands out among more familiar samurai stories. Yasuke’s story is relatively under-documented, which gives creators a lot of narrative freedom. Unlike Musashi or Toyotomi, whose lives are well-documented and heavily mythologized, Yasuke’s life is more of a blank canvas. This allows Ubisoft to fill in gaps with creative liberties, expanding his role beyond what history has documented. HOWEVER If the creators take too many liberties with Yasuke’s integration into samurai culture without addressing the real cultural and racial tensions of that era, it risks creating a narrative that doesn’t respect the actual challenges Yasuke likely faced. The tension between Yasuke’s outsider status and the firm , secluded nature of Japanese society should be central to his story. Oversimplifying how he was accepted by Oda Nobunaga or the other samurai, without exploring the complex dynamics of xenophobia, power, and loyalty, could result in a shallow or even misleading portrayal. As someone who loves history ,this is my biggest concern, and based on the information and footage we’ve seen so far, I doubt Ubisoft will be able to effectively capture the complexity of Yasuke's journey within feudal Japan.
This "original" story is almost right, but it gets quite a bit wrong. The original lore for the Sengoku Period Japanese Brotherhood has been availing for a while on the AC wiki, taken from books and lore segments from various AC media. To paraphrase: Templars arrive in Japan in 1549. The Chinese Brotherhood hears about this and sends one of their master assassins who happens to be Japanese to start a Japanese brance of the Brotherhood. The Japanese Brotherhood reaches out to Oda Nobunaga to form an alliance but he says he will only do so once he unifies the land, so they secretly form an alliance with Tokugawa Ieyasu whose vassal, Hattori Hanzo, had become a master assassin. The Brotherhood then spends its time battling the Templar aligned clans to aid the Tokugawa and Oda clans conquests. Hanzo killed both the Templars Mōri Motonari and Takeda Shingen, the later of which possessed a Sword of Eden which somehow ends up in the hands of Oda Nobunaga. 5 years after that, Hanzo kills the Templar Uesugi Kenshin. Later, when the Tokugawa and Assassins learn of the plot to kill Nobunaga, Hattori Hanzo protects Tokugawa Ieyasu while Yamauchi Taka is sent to secretly kill Nobunaga and retrieve the Sword of Eden so that it doesnt fall into the hands of Akechi Mitsuhide. After this event, the Chinese assassin Liu Yan transports the Sword of Eden away from Japan. Next, in 1596, Hanzo is killed by a rival ninja, and Tokugawa suspects Toyotomi Hideyoshi played a part in his death, so he sends Taka to investigate and later kill Toyotomi. After Toyotomi's death in 1598, the land ia divided once more between Toyotomi's supporters and Tokugawa's, which leads to the battle of Sekigahara where Taka kills the general Shima Sakon to ensure Tokugawa's victory, and consiquently, the founding of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
My god that Ghost of Tsushima 2 sounded so goddamn good. Jin and his band of ghosts? Going into cinematic battles with said band of ghosts? Bringing the battles to mainland Japan? WHY COULDNT WE GET THIS!!! As for pissing us off... My two cents there is that either this Atsu will kill Jins descendants or his band of ghosts...
Yep. I totally feel the same way, I ain’t gonna bother with the sequel. What’s the point anymore? These devs are not our friends. They scrapped this idea for this? That tells me a lot, especially knowing the actress is insane.
Well considering that the game takes place In 1603 and Jin's descendants would likely still be on the island of tsushima, or at the very least maybe Western Japan and definitely not anywhere near the Ainu people of Hokkaido...
Progressives can’t write good stories because they are insane people. Have we not observed that throughout the years? Note I didn’t say liberal because funnily enough there is a difference and the progs are definitely insane cultists.
Well to be fair, we don't really know what the plot for Yotei is right now. Will keep an eye out, but the info in this video doesn't inspire confidence...
Nobody "abandoned the ship", you're projecting and making up story I think the devs didn't realize how sexist you people were, they couldn't even imagine you would hate their new game just cause of the gender of the main character
@@abyss1138 Yotei will essentially be a mod of Tsushima, so yes, obviously not much will change other than the writing. But it's sad to see passionate western developers making great games, only to be sacked and replaced by lazy activists, who produces propaganda slop from assets that their predecessors made. This is truly late stage cultural marxism.
The only thing good that came out of that is the twitter files, potentially minor rebalancing for elections and community notes Even then, it still has some whiff of bs; mainly because of the staff that is actually running it He aint no devil; but he sure asf aint no saint either
Aww man a shinto priest story would have been a first and would be a great way to spread cultural awareness of Shinto. It's too bad that tossed that idea. The Yotei stuff was also really sad to hear. Jin running off and spreading his movement wouldn't have been as historically accurate but would have been a lot of fun to continue his story which could have lead to many sequels like AC.
I can personally attest that its happening at animation studios. And the design artists that are skilled pick up the slack for the 'hires'. And no we dont get more money.
If Sucker Punch actually goes through with the idea of killing off Jin Sakai in a flashback mission, they'll be officially done as a company. They'll be just as fucked as Rocksteady.
@@vedsehrawat2845of course he would be dead. That’s obvious. People are more worried that he gets killed off disrespectfully or in a very undeserving manner that spits on his legacy. Kind of like tlou2 or sushi squad.
Yasuke is just a retcon of what the original concept for the game was: *Having the MC as a Japanese man from the start.* As with most things in the media in this time, it’s corrupted and uninteresting.
I heard about this. The devs are contracted out, in order to save money. They build the game on a limited timeframe, leaving after their contracts are up. Anything seriously wrong needs to be fixed by in-house. Much of the time, the fixers don't even know the code, so it takes forever for them learn the system and work on the game.
They didn’t want a piece of Eden to be involved? That whole part ties together the importance of the animus and our characters going into the mind of the ancestors.
Before DEI, the biggest problem of Assassin's Creed for me was exactly the animus bullshit. I hate EVERY SINGLE TIME they take me from the past to the present. I couldn't care less about this shit and it just is like a bucket of cold water on the imersion.
@@adamb.m4844facts! Ever since they killed off Desmond, i lost interest. I was expecting Desmond to become a master assassin and fighting the templars in the present timeline just like some few moments in one of his games.

Imagine taking your car to the shop to get repaired after an accident. You drop it off and notice that the place is full of blue haired land whales. Then after you leave they drop your car off at a shop full of chads. The chads fix your car because the land whales can’t. The repairs cost twice as much because two shops get paid for the work. That is the state of modern western gaming studios.
I find it funny how people think ghost of yotei is gonna be the one western AAA game with a gay female protagonist that’s some how gonna break the woke trend lol. People are so naive.
the people who made the original version of shadows should just make their own game. what you described there sounded like a really good story with so much potential.
Friendly reminder that Atsu is very conveniently using Niten Ichi Ryu (two sword style) just a year BEFORE Miyamoto Musashi is documented to have invented it. Game is set in 1603, Niten Ichi Ryu was invented between 1604 and 1640, so my money is on this random woman somehow ending up teaching a literal sword saint of Japan his own invention.
To think we've been deliberately robbed of an epic Ghost of Tsushima II with Jin Sakai forming his own "Ghost" army against the Mongols... Just, unforgivable. And the fact that this lady in Yotei used Miyamoto Musashi's two-sword style a YEAR before he invented it is pure heresy. Like fuck the Western video game industry man, they shit over everything.

Ubisoft AC2: Buys a historicaly accurate book about Leonardo Da Vinci's life a thousand pages long. Adds 10 pages of fiction to it to fit the narrative of the story for AC2. Ubisoft: We took creative liberties for a historicaly accurate Da Vinci to fit our story. Also Ubisoft..... Ubisoft ACS: Buys a ficticious unaccurate book about Yasuke's life a thousand pages long. Adds 1 page of reality to it to fit the narrative of the story for ACS. Ubisoft: He was a real person.
Also, the AC2 characters database says that Leonardo was probably homosexual. I don't recall complaints about that, and I'm also Italian so I would more likely know if there were any. Now with Yasuke there will be the possibility of having gay romances (like in the previous RPG games), and the backlash is immense for obvious reasons
@@megablue8 Also those 3 are basically siblings. They may hate each other but they won't tolerate disrespect from an outsider to even just one of them.
The major mistake of Ubisoft, besides the Lockley/Yasuke nonsense, that was the typical misinterpretation of adjacent cultures. To show chinese architecture in a "historical" japanese game, it's like saying eastern asians are all the same. I am portuguese and I grew up in Brazil, I know two very good examples... Portugal and Spain are adjacent, doesn't mean we share the same exact culture and cliches... same goes for Brazil and Argentina, if you compare these two, oh boy, they get mad. Or even further, go to a argentinian and say Tango was created in Spain? It's kinda hilarious in a dark way, I don't really mind this kind of stuff (sometimes they are just honest mistakes, can't demand a degree of anthropology from every jondoe), but some people take this as a serious disrespect. Not so long ago the mainstream media assumed brazilians speak spanish, Max Payne 3 is a hilarious game, obviously not "historical" by any measure, but the lack of touch with the cultural background was funny to me, but of course, many brazilians took that as a offense (and I can't really blame them, millionaire studios who don't even try to run a background check)
I think if Ubisoft had gone with just a female ninja, things would have been better, not perfect, but better. They would have avoided a lot of the controversy.
..and thinking is not allowed when important checkbox being put at the person work table. There's that too. What left to accept by these company is profit writing on the wall.

The problems with video games now is theyre made by arts degree holders . When gaming was great they used to be made by computer geeks who were passionate and self-taught more often than not
The fuck are you talking about? Stop talking out of your ass. I have friends in the Animation field and games field, and I can assure you, that MOST have a degree from the arts, animation, both. Games were made by "geeks" who were self-taught in the fucking 1970s and early to mid-80s, then programs started sprouting up, and transferable skills were being learned in various programs.
As far as I’m concerned Ubisoft has completely lost its plot with the Assassins Creed franchise. In Assassins Creed 2 we are told about various famous assassin plots in multiple locations that I believe should have been made into games but they have been largely forgotten or ignored. It’s so annoying that they had good content and all of history to play with but can’t utilise it properly.
I won't forgive them for destroying an awesome concept for a Assassin's Creed game. They had the makings of a great Assassin's Creed game, but instead "The Message" really destroyed it completely.
Assassin's Creed without Assassins and Templars fighting over ancient aliens tech is not Assassin's Creed. It's like Pirates of the Caribbean without Johnny Depp.
It’s crazy how a game based in real life with a pretty good story and cultural elements that would make people appreciate Japanese culture was perverted by our own work culture in order to fit their ideas of “proper representation”
The ending gonna piss people off because Atsu gonna kick the strongest swordsman in japanese history Musashi Miyamoto's ass.She gonna make it look easy too.😂😂😂 So basically, the strongest swordsman in Japanese history is actually a woman.
A. The fact Ubisoft tripped over themselves after making a dope story concept for Shadows is unfathomable B. The fact that the committee went with this concept for Ghost of Yotei instead of going with what they originally planned will bite them in the ass C. The VA for Atsu doesn’t help Ghost of Yotei either
Don't overestimate it, the industry is just following a trend, they want the Black Panther money. But videogame development is so slow and bureaucratic, they arrived too late to party. Also the key factor of "gamers" already tending to be toxic no matter what + the crazy price points and time consumption of this hobby, people would never pay $70 to watch Black Panther, of course not, the videogame market is a different beast entirely

15:35 okay I'm out. I thought the Yotei hate was overblown bc Tsushima is one of my favorite games and I felt Sucker Punch had earned my trust, but I DESPISE iki island (yet another story that thinks "complexity" means trashing the MC's father) so if that's the crowd working on Yotei then I'm out. that DLC literally felt like Naughty Dog saw how beloved Tsushima was, how much pride and nationalism gamers took from it, and decided to send in their own writers to write a DLC for Sucker Punch that would lean into the same exact "umm actually your elders were barbaric bad guys and you should reject them and forgive their enemies" attitude that runs through so much of Druckman's trash.
That wasn't the point of Iki at all, it clearly points out that both sides of the Samurai/Raider war were terrible in how they were trying to achieve their goals. Like the base game already had that "Your elders aren't the end all be all" with how Shimura and Jin fell apart on how Jin wanted to save the most people with the smallest sacrifice

Same here. I had (and HAVE) no problem with the idea of playing a game where the MC/protagonist is a female samurai!
Yasyuke Floyd 🤮
This "original" story is almost right, but it gets quite a bit wrong.
The original lore for the Sengoku Period Japanese Brotherhood has been availing for a while on the AC wiki, taken from books and lore segments from various AC media. To paraphrase:
Templars arrive in Japan in 1549.
After Toyotomi's death in 1598, the land ia divided once more between Toyotomi's supporters and Tokugawa's, which leads to the battle of Sekigahara where Taka kills the general Shima Sakon to ensure Tokugawa's victory, and consiquently, the founding of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

the people who made the original version of shadows should just make their own game. what you described there sounded like a really good story with so much potential.

Its like they baked a cake, showed us the cake, then threw it out the window into the dirt for the ants to eat.
Do you mean the Assassin's Creed 2 statues under the Villa? They've tried. Amuneth is Aya from AC Origins, Darius is the character in AC Odyssey DLC
Jfk 🤝
I won't forgive them for destroying an awesome concept for a Assassin's Creed game. They had the makings of a great Assassin's Creed game, but instead "The Message" really destroyed it completely.
Assassin's Creed without Assassins and Templars fighting over ancient aliens tech is not Assassin's Creed.
