I'm actually mad that BG3 let's you romance everyone. I want to be able to be best bros with Gale, but whenever I'm nice to him he looks up lovingly at me and I have to be like "Calm the f**k down, bro!" But no, modern games would never know how to write two straight men having a solid friendship

Yep. Romance is the major falling point of BG3's otherwise largely fantastic writing. You CAN have "friendship" with each character but the game stupidly defaults to romantic intentions, to the point that the only way to get them to back off is to trigger the romantic sequence and then reject their enthusiasm wholeheartedly like a douchebag. It feels so unnatural and uncanny, and it makes me think Wizards had a hand in mandating it be that way because it WASN'T that way in Divinity: Original Sin 2, which also had romance, both gay and straight. You had to go out of your way to initiate the romantic dialogue and the game made it clear that was your intention. To think, back in ye olden days when I played DA2, I thought it was so stupid that they put the little romance heart on certain dialogue choices to ensure you knew you were going down that route. Now, BG3 has proven that's apparently a necessity if your writers don't know how natural romance works (which the DA2 writers clearly didn't either).
I remember when I was playing it and trying to romance Shadow heart then randomly at night Karlach came over to my character and said they wanted to bang me despite barely interacting with her in that playthrough. I feel like the game could have 100% used much better conformation system instead of characters having telltale 'so and so liked that' which leads to them wanting to fuck you regardless if your characters talked to them or not
I'm honestly baffled by how people praised BG3 a lot for being woke (or rather, "totally indiscriminate") with regards to the romance aspect, but I guess it's just people who really don't like being shoehorned into specific choices with that portion of a game just because of their own character's aspects (like with DA Wokeguard). As far as I knew the old Baldur's Gate games, it's not like the romance was the biggest aspect of it, as opposed to just the freedom of approach in gameplay. Heck, I highly doubt a large percentage of modern BG3 players actually even played the older games considering the age of the older titles.

I dunno, winning would be seeing studios at least trying to course correct as much as they can considering these are years, even decade long projects... But instead it feels like they're doubling down. The only win is when those projects find no audience, but even then it's just a bittersweet victory, because at the end of the day, when a game or an IP is killed by activists, everybody loses...

the studio had massive talent but as many studios do, they got mismanaged and burned like light pulps. cyberpunk in particular was given poor instructions and drove a lot of talent away. The red engine could easily keep up with UE5 and deliver better performance, dropping it is just a huge waste.

Hate to be a "um, actualy" guy on Dragon Age lore, but for thouse who do not know: Gray Wardens are the only living creatures that can destroy archdemon for good is because in the initiation ritual they drink archdemon blood. Most die, but thouse who dont are now immune to corruption. And when gray warden kills archdemon, its soul then travels into gray warden instead of other dark spawn for resurrection. But because gray wardens have soul of their own, unlike dark spawn, archdemon and gray warden are both destroyed. And no, gray wardens do not become dark spawn themselfs with time. They eather simply dying from their body no longer been capable of withstanding the taint or they go into deep road to die in battle with dark spawns there.
I'll be blunt on this matter, Bioware has continually lied in their promotional material for ages now. So this is nothing new to me, Inquisition, the box art and even the alpha gameplay they showed months before release showcased a completely different type of story direction. Just now their lies are finally catching up to them, and EA's marketing machine won't help them sell a shitty product. Just look at Andromeda and Anthem as recent examples.
I never understand the "forced DEI diversity". Games naturally become diverse and people love when it fits. Look at Mass Effect games, all kinds of different culture aliens coming together, getting united and becoming comrades. Same with Dragon Age, the characters were sooo good. All different and unique, nobody cared what race they were, what sexual preference they had. They were just well written. If you see someone approaching your marketing team to try and blackmail them into hiring an unqualified consulting company, ask the head of your marketing team if they don't want the company to make money and reference all the games that have used these consulting companies, while making sure to mark the dev studios that have died for hiring these consulting companies. And if the consulting company does get hired anyways, make sure you have it written in the contract that they don't get paid until the game sees actual profit.

See an AC during the Salem Witch Trials sounds amazing when you know the history of it or enjoyed the Crucible .... But only focusing on the female only side when males were also tried and tortured for being witches is a hellish mistake, Rip Ubi, i wouldn't even buy the Etzio or original remakes new at this point Veilguard immediately bombards you with Nonebinary and removal of Pronouns.... I have zero problems with a Salem Witch hunting set piece for AC. The concept sounds great, and if done the right way, I would think about getting AC Hexe. Here's the problem...I don't trust Ubisoft to do it the right way.

Working from home is not a good thing. These devs are phoning it in and not really collaborating as a dev team on these projects. There is no passion. This is not how the amazing games we know and love were made.

Especially with something as collaborative as game development where the entire studio is working towards the same goal and each are making individual parts of one product that requires a very high level of cohesion. Hexe could work with a simple 180 switch… have us HUNTING witches during the trials. I personally think this move to remove remote work is actually a way to quietly lay off people. Because when a company lays people off this can affect their stock and their reputation but by trying to force only in office work they will have people quit thus allowing them to have the same affect as a lay off without having a lay off.
Tbh it's pathetic modern devs can't even show up to the office 3 days a week to collaborate on a project. Doing it all remote from home is simply not the same and will not have the same level of passion or effort, as well as less synchronization between coders/devs on the various parts of the game

If a company like Meta is buying or selling my data I would really like to see them have to issue a receipt. They should have to tell you who they sold your data to, what data they sold and how much they got for it. There doesn't need to be anything paid to the individual if they are getting some kind of service like Facebook, but they should be aware of what they are "paying" for the service.
Best way to do that is have your name misspelled or something like that so that when you get ads or anything like that you can check for the error and know who sold to whom. I don't think anyones made a list for such things though because eventually they'll probably sell to everyone directly or it gets resold by the ones who bought

The Qunari have always been Bioware's bizarre virtue signalling device for -insert culture or ideology they want to praise here-. In DA2 they were a very obvious analogy to Muslims due to the state of the western world at the time. Pushback against "Islamophobia" and "Xenophobia" in general was the political topic of the year and the MSM were hard pushing like it was the single most important problem America would ever face. Hense why Hawke's dialogue towards them was so soft and respectful even when they were burning down a fucking city and enacting the genocide of untold thousands of innocents.
The hair or sticks or whatever it is coming from the character's head on the Hexe cover forming the Assassin's symbol looks terrible. The way Ubisoft is now they will probably make Ezio gay if they remake the Ezio games.
As a massive Dragon Age fan also, I cancelled my pre-order until I see the game play and reviews on YT. The Elves fell from infighting. The Tevinter Imperium hadn't done anything, but made a story up as if they "Came, Saw and conquered". You find this out in temple in DA:I. You have the option to side with the Elves and their leader tells you this information. Dorian later in a cut scene before he say's he has to go back home to change the Imperium from within, can't believe it's been built up on a lie.
Dude Bioware that made Dragon Age Origins is long gone. All people that made Bioware that it was left it years ago. What's left is name and that's it. It was apparent in Inquisition and in that abomination last Mass Effect was.

As far as I knew the old Baldur's Gate games, it's not like the romance was the biggest aspect of it, as opposed to just the freedom of approach in gameplay. Heck, I highly doubt a large percentage of modern BG3 players actually even played the older games considering the age of the older titles.

the studio had massive talent but as many studios do, they got mismanaged and burned like light pulps. cyberpunk in particular was given poor instructions and drove a lot of talent away. The red engine could easily keep up with UE5 and deliver better performance, dropping it is just a huge waste.

Gray Wardens are the only living creatures that can destroy archdemon for good is because in the initiation ritual they drink archdemon blood. Most die, but thouse who dont are now immune to corruption. And when gray warden kills archdemon, its soul then travels into gray warden instead of other dark spawn for resurrection. But because gray wardens have soul of their own, unlike dark spawn, archdemon and gray warden are both destroyed.
And no, gray wardens do not become dark spawn themselfs with time. They eather simply dying from their body no longer been capable of withstanding the taint or they go into deep road to die in battle with dark spawns there.

Look at Mass Effect games, all kinds of different culture aliens coming together, getting united and becoming comrades. Same with Dragon Age, the characters were sooo good. And if the consulting company does get hired anyways, make sure you have it written in the contract that they don't get paid until the game sees actual profit.

I personally think this move to remove remote work is actually a way to quietly lay off people. Because when a company lays people off this can affect their stock and their reputation but by trying to force only in office work they will have people quit thus allowing them to have the same affect as a lay off without having a lay off.

If a company like Meta is buying or selling my data I would really like to see them have to issue a receipt. They should have to tell you who they sold your data to, what data they sold and how much they got for it. There doesn't need to be anything paid to the individual if they are getting some kind of service like Facebook, but they should be aware of what they are "paying" for the service.
Best way to do that is have your name misspelled or something like that so that when you get ads or anything like that you can check for the error and know who sold to whom. I don't think anyones made a list for such things though because eventually they'll probably sell to everyone directly or it gets resold by the ones who bought

As a massive Dragon Age fan also, I cancelled my pre-order until I see the game play and reviews on YT. The Elves fell from infighting. The Tevinter Imperium hadn't done anything, but made a story up as if they "Came, Saw and conquered". You find this out in temple in DA:I. You have the option to side with the Elves and their leader tells you this information. Dorian later in a cut scene before he say's he has to go back home to change the Imperium from within, can't believe it's been built up on a lie.
Dude Bioware that made Dragon Age Origins is long gone. All people that made Bioware that it was left it years ago. What's left is name and that's it. It was apparent in Inquisition and in that abomination last Mass Effect was.
