The thing NOBODY realises about the Tesla Model 3… 🤯

  • Eilis & Kol get their hands on another Tesla Model 3, but this time the performance pack. They quickly realise that the level of excitement exceeded that of any other electric car they had in the past few weeks. Which begged the question... why are teslas so damn exciting compared to competition!?
They explore the reasons and come to a bizarre conclusion that actually, all teslas are underpriced for what they pack. The R&D budget that Tesla has spent developing the car and infrastructure to allow their customers to enjoy a headache free time with the final products - is substantial. See how Kol & Eilis come to this conclusion.

I find this fanboi-ing over Teslas a bit tiring now. First off, the I Pace doesn't start at 77k, it starts at 65k. Second the E Tron doesn't start at 88k, it starts at 61k for the smaller battery '50' model and about 71k for the bigger battery '55' model. I have sat in a model and 3 long range and the 2 things that stood out after you get over the initial thrill of the acceleration are 1) the lack of refinement (it was noisier than my diesel at anything above about 30mph 2) the jittery ride quality. And when it comes to owning and living with a car long term, this is what matters. For the average person range doesn't even matter as the average commute is something like 20 miles. I've also sat in an E-Tron and that just blows away the model 3 for the above 2 points. For me personally if I had that sort of money I'd pay the extra 5k and take the E-Tron all day long.

On the LR and Performance models here is a Tip. Don't set that charging line to 80% just stop charging when you are ready to go. If you set it at 80% it will start to throttle down the charging speed sooner but if you leave it set to 100% the throttle down will be more gradual. Just stop when you have enough charge percentage.

I lease a VW ID3 Performance Pro, with no intention of buying. And I totally concur with these two, because I've driven a few Teslas. They are different. They're way more fun. The ID3 is just a way better Golf. It's a very nice car. The Tesla is totally superior. And probably why they cost way more to lease because the cheapest one is barely any more expensive over the ID3, which means I just hire one here and there. And even the TM3 RWD is great fun, and NOT slow.

Glass half full/empty? It also means that all other EVs are overpriced for what you get. You two make a great team on camera, keep it up ! Also a wonderful change in watching videos with the steering wheel on the correct side of the car!!!
So Tesla/Elon has a standard to maintain & I feel that the $25k EV has been pushed back so that t can be released as a fully autonomous EV with FSD. The way I see it, sustainability can be achieved sooner if we do not need to replace every single ICE car on the road. By making this "cheap" EV without a steering wheel and pedals, demand can be met with only needing to satisfy the initial demand of "Early Adopters". Otherwise demand will outstrip supply & it can not stay at this price.
Elon can see the future & described "RoboTaxi". Public transport will end up becoming obsolete with on demand, point to point mobility, being more effective & effecient. I see the UK being at the forefront of this because of its size, population density, and acceptance of change (Brexit is a great example).
I am very disappointed in where we are currently heading in Australia, as our politicians/Government have lost the plot....

FEW realize it weights over 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 tons; most do not know FSD is not level 4 or 5 but costs $10,000 and Autopilot is a different package. I don't think people realize how costly it is to charge on a supercharger, or even at home at different hours. Most do not know they need to pay for a special circuit to be installed to charge at home and if they rent or have an apartment that they have to use a supercharger; Few Realize it would take 10 solar panels 8 hours of Southern California sun; to get 30 miles charge on a Tesla; or about 100 solar panels to charge the car completely in 8 hours. Few People realize your lease will be penalized if over 12,000 miles a year. How many realize freezing weather can reduce your range by 20%? Few realize if you run out of charge you can't push your car more than a few feet before damaging the car's motors. Few realize a higher than usual number of Teslas are in junk yards already. Few realize normal mechanics can't get parts nor do many want to work on the batteries which can explode or catch fire if damaged in a wreck. I suppose you mentioned all those things but just in case I thought I'd help out.

well the pt is not meant to be taken literally. Ive had a nissan leaf and a few Teslas (currently have a model y). Cars in general arent cheap to begin with especially new cars. Sure some cheaper than others. The thing with Teslas is that when you buy one (sure its expensive ranging from $39,990 model 3 SR+ to model s plaid $130,000 US dollars of course) you get a whole ecosystem. You get the supercharging network that is expanding at an exponential rate, you get the tech (over the air updates that come with it), efficiency (some competitors have models with bigger batteries but are inefficient so whats the pt). Basically the ownership experience is pretty good. Of course youre going to have some issues along the way. Their service is good and theyre opening up a lot of service centers to deal with the demand. They also have mobile rangers but theyre not always available just depends on your region. Just let me know if you have any further questions because there is nothing like transitioning from an ICE vehicle to an EV especially a Tesla.
