I have the ETS mag loader and I love it. It works very well with my magazines EXCEPT for the Beretta APX 40 S&W. The first time I used it, the magazine got hung up inside the loader and had to get some help pulling the mag out. So I am getting the Uplula for the Beretta. I also noticed that when I loaded my single stack XD-E magazines that it will wobble side to side. It loaded, however I have to make sure I have the magazine "stable" as I load it.
Best review for showing how to work the units and the comparison between the two. It was recommended that I get the Maglula, and I found it to work great after I saw your video -- paper instructions were not clear -- I needed a video. They are both good depending upon what you have.
Just started to use my ETS and it is great. I had to oil the rails and practice it a bit but it is by far the fastest way to load a magazine. I also have the Mag Lula and it is great especially for loose ammo. They are both great and really save your thumbs.
best video by far comparing the two heavy hitters in loaders....takeaway is: own them both cuz you'll need them both for different reasons, and youu are right.
I have both those loaders. The ETS doesn't work with my Hellcat RDP at all. The Upula does and it works with every other mag I have right on through 460 Rowland. I sent the ETS back for a refund, we'll see how good their guarantee really is.
Confirmed, Hellcat is a no go with the ETS. I am curious as to why. There must be an angle in the ramp that just puts it out of alignment with the mag. I fussed with it for far too long but couldnt figure out a nod or fix to get it to work
I got a purple Uplula. Which is another thing it has over the ETS: colors. ETS only comes in black. Black is fine, but I like color. Also, there is no maintenance with the Uplula. ETS was designed for Glock mags, which it does fine with. Very useful for the fun stick. But it is finicky with my Walther mags. If I could only have one, it would be the Uplula. If I have a choice, which I do (I have both), I start with the ETS and use it until it jams. (Make absolutely sure the mag is seated correctly.)
Thanks so much for your easy to understand how to! I am a first time gun buyer and in getting ready for a CPL class tomorrow, I wanted to load a couple of magazines. It was so hard by hand, but I couldn't figure out how to use the magazine loader. It seemed like it didn't work. Your video helped so much in that I didn't know that I had to let up a bit on the loader so the end could clear the back and be pushed down-yay!
Magazines get easier to load by hand if you leave freedom seeds in them to loosen the tension on the spring. These speed loaders are nice to have but sometimes you just want to feel that brass pressing into your thumb a bit
Thanks for the info. Just looking for inexpensive Chanukah gifts. Have the mag loader, but my wife saw the ETS and asked me. Looks very cool, although I don't keep boxes/trays. Still going to think about it.
Great video. You are an amazing instructor. Thanks for all the tips and honest review of both products. I've decided to purchase both. Again thanks for taking the time to help others!
Regarding speed the ETS is the winner, hands down, BUT for narrower single stack mags it can be difficult to use unless the magazine is perfectly centered. I made some shims out of cardboard to narrow the opening before inserting my G2S mags; the mag is more likely centered and easier to load.
Great Vid on these loaders. Thanks for the comments from everyone to let me know the ETS is difficult at first. I do prefer the maglula as most of my ammo is in bulk. Thanks
I use the maglula to load everything. Double stack, single stack, 22 and up. It’s been modified to fit 22 (metal beak/tab narrowed) to fit 22’s but still works on everything else. This was a must for CZ Kadet mags. The only thing it won’t do are the sig 322 mags for some reason.
The ETS works with loose ammo too. Putting the rounds in the rail one by one is still faster and easier than the maglula. ETS also released a gen 2 which centers single stack magazines
I'm really liking that ATS. Many things, when you first get it, will need a little breaking in period, but it's better than killin my hands. Getting some arthritis in my fingers and this thing sounds like a winner. The single loader just looks like a PITA....just sayin
I have both. ETS says it doesnt hurt your feed lips but it did on my HK USP as well as not a smooth load, and unlike this video, it didnt want to load my 15 round M&P 2.0 compact 9mm mags very well. It loaded my glock mags well but again I noticed marks in the feed lips Like you state, if you buy loose ammo its really not that much faster because you have to load the loader one at a time. I love the Maglula. I load any caliber for any gun. Single stack, Double stack....makes no difference. 380 to 45 makes no difference. Compact and easy to use with no damage what so ever to your magazines. Maglula for me. ETS makes a 223 loader that is the shit. No complaints with that one.
Protip: make sure the ETS loader is lubed up well, save your caddies and put your loose ammo in them and store in your ammo box. Ets is a great loader. If you’re loading 45 or 380 then you typically dont have many rounds to load anyway lol. Stay safe 🤞🏼
Funny thing... I've got both .45 ACP and 9mm. My Mag-Lula takes care of both of these calibers, where as ETS wants me to buy 2 different loaders. By using the Mag-Lula, I can also do a quick visual inspection of my ammo, as I load the mags. BTW, also works for my wife's .380. I'll gladly sacrifice speed in this instance.
Thank you! My new pistol came with a quick loader. It works but I was looking for something a little easier to use. I'll keep an eye on prices and pick one up when they are on special.
Hey use your minds! When you buy your ammo in bulk, say 1000 rounds, then save the plastic trays from those small purchases of ammo you buy in 50-100 rounds and reuse the plastic trays for your bulk loading. It’s a great way to recycle those plastic trays. Each purchase of a 1000 rounds, you should have 5 50 round plastic trays in your ammo cans!
I have found that the ETS is a little finicky there are some double stack magazines that I just cannot load with it.some of the double stack magazines and I have are too thick and they won't go inand others you have to push extremely hard even when properly lubricated. I can also testif that if you have your hand in the wrong spot you will end up with a giant blood blister because it will pinch you hard. However when it does work with the various magazines that I have it is fast and slick.
Maglula's Uplula Loader is the best I have ever found. I have used it on Every pistol caliber from 380 to 45 works on Any magazine, including single stack with the small extra plate for single stack. The only other loader I use is one for rifle mags.
uplula, #1 as I as I store my reloads in an ammo can also. I also use a toggle loader for my Colt style SMG mags that works great. Of course I still have the garden variety compression loaders that also save the thumbs.
I bought the Uplula after slicing a nice dent in my thumb when loading a double stack 9mm. It works well with 9mm and .45 . It fits in my range bag and is quick and easy. I have not tried the ETS, but from the video it’s over kill for loading 3 mags at a time.
Thank you, Philip. You provided some great information and demonstrated the features of each very well! I have the Uplula loader and needed a refresher on how to properly use it for my Springfield handgun.
I own the ETS and tried the Maglula. The ETS is really persnickety. I will have to try the oil idea because it basically stopped working all together. I think I did a few hundred rounds before it wouldn't go in any magazine I tried (M&P9, M&P40, Sig P226, VP9). You really gotta cram them in, and it flipped rounds a few times. While I'm overwhelmed at the speed it can load rounds, it does you no good if it's too hard to get the ammo in. The Maglula on the other hand was less physical effort to load but was obviously slower. How much slower? Maybe in the seconds range, but but not by much. It's 10X better than hand loading. In the end, I agree with having both, but only if the ETS malfunctions and you need a backup. If you're tired and wiped out then the 'Lula shines. It's solid and worth every penny but I certainly prefer the ETS. Again, fingers crossed the oiling trick works because I have something like 13 magazines to load (including two 32rd mags) and that job sucks by hand!
I just got an ETS speedloader to use for my S&W SD40VE. It works, but not near as easily as in this video. It is taking quite a bit of pressure to get the cartridges to load in the magazine. I hope this gets easier as the loader gets broke-in. Instructions say to oil it, which I did, and that probably will not be necessary after about 500 rounds. I sure hope it get easier. I also got the UpLula and that works great.
I have both in my range bag. Love the speed of the ETS however, I've found that certain ammo trays work better that others. If the rounds fit in the tray loosely then the ETS has a difficult time picking them up. I've also found the ETS does not like the Springfield Hellcat mags, but it works great with my XD mags. Different tools for different jobs.
Thank you for confirming the Hellcat. That's the only gun we own at the moment and I had tried everything to get it to work. I sent it back assuming we probably just got a bad one.
I couldn’t get em to work on my Sig or Ruger mags. They did give me my money back. Worth a try maybe mine were defective but they didn’t argue or make any suggestions just gave me my money back. 👍🏼
I have the Maglula loader and just bought the ETS. I haven't used the ETS yet but I love my Uplula loader. Great comparison and very informative video. Thank you!!!
I just bought a new Smith&Wesson MP Shield 45 cal and the 2 magazines have springs that are so stiff I could barely load them. Bought the Maglula and it works great.
I ordered and received the ETS CAM Loader in two business days, 3 real-time days. The very first time I tried to load 8 40cal Winchester "PDX1 Defender" into an original equipment S&W59 15rd 9mm magazine worked perfectly and quickly and SMOOTHLY. These are a modified flat-nose with a hex-head "crown" looking bullet tip (and yes, that's the *9mm* magazine...it's cross-compatible in some gun brands). Same for 9mm flat-nose into a different original equipment S&W59 15rd magazine; fast and very smooth. I used the "sternum" loading method. It was very intuitive. I didn't have to refer to the instructions (although I had glanced at your video one time about a day ago). *However, loading 9mm FMJ ROUND NOSE was a LOT different* I had the most problem with FMJ ROUND NOSE 9mm CCI Blazer and Remington rounds. While they eventually loaded, it was start-stop a few times each time I tried to load 10 rounds into those same 14rd magazines, but could be completed without taking things apart. It was clear the relative alignment of the cartridges from "true" was much more critical for the round nose cartridges...most likely as these are longer overall than the flat-nose cartridges so clearances are more critical. (note: the round-nose 9mm cartridges are longer overall than even the 40cal flat-nose cartridges (eyeball estimate almost 0.015" to 0.020" longer) Also, when I tried to load the last 5 FMJ 9mm round-nose into the 15rd magazine, it was consistently very difficult to load the last 3 rounds due to a "jam-up". So for general loading I'd say a consistent 12 rounds of this type was reasonable. We'll see about durability but this first experience was pretty impressive.
I have to rap the bottom of some mags on the table to get the last few rounds in to sort of settle them in their proper places. kinda like the rap you do on ar15 mags.
@@charleswittmer2477 Good point. "Rapping" the mag while manually loading is pretty much ingrained in muscle memory, but using this tool was so different I didn't even consider that.
@@m.watson708 I just recently got 1000 rounds of .40 jacketed hollow point from an online store shipped to my local gun shop in California. It took me a lot of searching, but there is ammo out there. I also picked up 450 rounds of Full Metal Jacket at my local gun show. I was lucky that I needed .40, because all 9mm were gone at the gun show by the time I got my turn in line, and I was not that far back in line. The .40 was almost gone. There were only 150 rounds left after I got mine.
@@David-rx5eo Yeah, .40 cal isn’t a big problem right now, unfortunately it’s 9mm and .380 that are the problem. I’ve been fortunate enough to find some 9mm and .380 at a local store in Nebraska as well, but the price isn’t as user friendly as I’d like. Was there a cap on how much you could buy?
@@m.watson708 .40 has been a problem too. I had to do quite a lot of searching before I found some in stock. Quite a lot of websites have zero inventory on most everything. In my local gun shops last ammo shipment they got some 9mm, and others, but zero .40 caliber.
Do web searches for bulk ammo, and check lots and lots of sites until you find one that has what you are looking for. I spent several hours searching before I found my bulk ammo, and it was harder for me, because I am in California, and the dealer has to be willing to ship to a licensed dealer like my local gun shop. Then I have to pay the gun shop a small fee plus state taxes.
I ordered one after watching yours and another review. I received it and oiled it per instructions. I couldn't pick up more than 5 rounds, then I had to slide them down since they bind in the rail. Next I picked up 3 more rounds, finally the last 2. A lot of work. I tried about 10 times on 2 different Grand Power P1 mags. It wouldn't load. I tried it on a S&W 9mm mag and finally got it to load. Wish mine worked like yours.
I saw you do the Sig P320 and that worked flawlessly. I tried it with my Sig P320 mags and it fails every time. I oiled it just like you suggested but no joy. The mag is in solidly and I did it exactly like you did with the mag solidly on my chest. Any ideas???
I buy in bulk, but I go to the range with Remington 250 boxes in my bag, that I restock after shooting. So my ammo is in the plastic trays. So my "Range time" reloading would be great with the ETS. I have had a Maglula for years, and love it.
I save my plastic trays for when I buy loose pack ammo- not just because of my ETS loader, but it's easier to count rounds and I'm kinda OCD about numbers, lol. I have a maglula type as well that I use for steel ammo (doesn't work well in the ETS) that does pretty good too- it's the ASAP from Butler Creek. Works the same way
I bought One! These are awesome! Do not work easily with Aluminum Ammunition But I no longer use Aluminum. Takes me less than 2 minutes to load three 3 G26 Mags and One G19 17 round mag. I spend more time shooting and less time loading.

I fussed with it for far too long but couldnt figure out a nod or fix to get it to work
Bought an Ets over 6 months ago. Works on my Canik 18 rd mags, Glock, Creed, and Ppq. Fast, simple and has functioned flawless.
I watched this after I ordered an ets loader. Now I know how to use it. Thanks for the information!
Used the ETS on 15 round and 17 round mags for S&W mp2.0 9m as well as Baby Desert Eagle flawlessly! Great producr.
Regarding speed the ETS is the winner, hands down, BUT for narrower single stack mags it can be difficult to use unless the magazine is perfectly centered. I made some shims out of cardboard to narrow the opening before inserting my G2S mags; the mag is more likely centered and easier to load.
I personally visited this range!!!! Coming from NY the staff and and the building is just top notch!!!!!
Best review and instructions I've seen yet. Good job.
I’m going for both! Thanks for the detailed demonstrations!
Your video was Exactly what I needed because I'm looking for a speed loader for my Glock 34. Thank you
Great Vid on these loaders.
I bought the Maglula at a gun show I use it for my 9mm and 380 my thumbs do not hurt after loading multiple mags
The ETS works with loose ammo too. Putting the rounds in the rail one by one is still faster and easier than the maglula. ETS also released a gen 2 which centers single stack magazines
you pretty much hit the nail on the head..since they are so cheap, having both is worth it.
4:15 first demonstration
I'm really liking that ATS. Many things, when you first get it, will need a little breaking in period, but it's better than killin my hands. Getting some arthritis in my fingers and this thing sounds like a winner. The single loader just looks like a PITA....just sayin
Just bought an UpLULA. Much better than the cheap 12$ loader I had off of Amazon. Very easy to use with my P365 mags.
My P365 mags are a bitch to load, even with the included speed loader. I ordered UpLULAs for me and a P365-owning friend.
Thank you. Great presentation. You showed me everything I wanted know.
Excellent video! Very good demonstration. I’m getting an ets mag loader.
@@r.l.harvey996 I'm using a BabyUpLULA for my PPK; I just ordered an UpLULA for my 9mms and double-stack .380.
I use the uplula and love it saves my thumb.
Thank you! My new pistol came with a quick loader. It works but I was looking for something a little easier to use.
I'll keep an eye on prices and pick one up when they are on special.
I'm glad to see YOUhad good luck w/ that ETS speed loader. When loading
.40 mags, that thing sucks.
I carry both in my range bag. That way if I have a tray or loose rounds I have it covered. Both work great.
Hey use your minds! When you buy your ammo in bulk, say 1000 rounds, then save the plastic trays from those small purchases of ammo you buy in 50-100 rounds and reuse the plastic trays for your bulk loading. It’s a great way to recycle those plastic trays. Each purchase of a 1000 rounds, you should have 5 50 round plastic trays in your ammo cans!
thanks Phillip < this video was very helpful
I have found that the ETS is a little finicky there are some double stack magazines that I just cannot load with it.some of the double stack magazines and I have are too thick and they won't go inand others you have to push extremely hard even when properly lubricated. I can also testif that if you have your hand in the wrong spot you will end up with a giant blood blister because it will pinch you hard. However when it does work with the various magazines that I have it is fast and slick.
Exceptional video. I was having trouble loading and I think yr video explained it well.
Maglula's Uplula Loader is the best I have ever found. I have used it on Every pistol caliber from 380 to 45 works on Any magazine, including single stack with the small extra plate for single stack. The only other loader I use is one for rifle mags.
What a game changer. I really need to get a speed loader for my rifle and pistol mags.
uplula, #1 as I as I store my reloads in an ammo can also.
Great review! Thank you for this. I personally prefer the UpLula/Maglula. Two thumbs up
I own the ETS and tried the Maglula.
Best Comparison I’ve Viewed So Far, May Even Purchase Both.
I also got the UpLula and that works great.
grease the plastic pusher on the ets like he does in the video.
@@charleswittmer2477 I did grease it
one plus to the uplula over the ets is those last 3 rounds in a tight mag etc seems to push back and the lula pushes in
I've only used the uplula & I love it (9mm double stack)
Good video and never seen these, now to buy.
ETS is defiantly a game changer!!
Got mine the other day... and its Awesome
This is a life changer....I love mine.
Thanks for Sharing
I couldn’t get em to work on my Sig or Ruger mags. They did give me my money back. Worth a try maybe mine were defective but they didn’t argue or make any suggestions just gave me my money back. 👍🏼
I have the Maglula loader and just bought the ETS. I haven't used the ETS yet but I love my Uplula loader. Great comparison and very informative video. Thank you!!!
Way COOL! I can’t wait to get my Maglula (Up) for my Para Ordinance .45 ACP...
My thumbs gives this a 'Thumbs Up"
RUclips is great to 'try out' certain appliances. UpLULA is my choice. Right size, price and easy to use.
Great mag selection for testing. Very impressed
I just bought a new Smith&Wesson MP Shield 45 cal and the 2 magazines have springs that are so stiff I could barely load them. Bought the Maglula and it works great.
Nice video. That’s really good information and going to buy both.
*However, loading 9mm FMJ ROUND NOSE was a LOT different*
I had the most problem with FMJ ROUND NOSE 9mm CCI Blazer and Remington rounds. (note: the round-nose 9mm cartridges are longer overall than even the 40cal flat-nose cartridges (eyeball estimate almost 0.015" to 0.020" longer)
Also, when I tried to load the last 5 FMJ 9mm round-nose into the 15rd magazine, it was consistently very difficult to load the last 3 rounds due to a "jam-up".
The closest I get to guns is through videogames but this looks so much fun with all the equipment and gear surrounding firearms. Nice review.
I've got the UpLULA and the ETS. My gun is a Springfield "Helcat" 9mm. The UpLULA works great, but the ETS will not load the Helcat magazine.
Thanks a lot. I have a Springfield X9.
Thank you ......i just got he Hellcat, and wasn't sure which way to go
I am so happy you posted this Video
Quick question.. you said you purchase ammunition in bulk where would I be able to do that as well?
Lol this was made 3 years ago.. you aren’t going to be doing that for awhile.
I have the Maglula, and it's much better than, using your thumbs. I agree on having both.
