Hello everyone, hope you have enjoyed our guide. We have a small correction to make following some new information. The bus stop that we reference as a former Clink or overnight prison cell, was actually the former blacksmiths! I guess it does make sense with the buildings out the back behind the building. The wonders of social media allow us to get the correct information.
@@ORDEROFTHEKNIGHTSTEMPLAR13 i live up north so not a very posh area or anything and there are chav areas nearby but its pretty chill around my neighbourhood
For a tiny place, it has so many beautiful spots. I love Purbeck. A great place to spend a week. Derbyshire is another if tranquility is your thing. For camping, I'd say Dartmoor is hard to beat or even Exmoor.
I have been binge watching our videos since I came across this channel the other day! These beautiful places are the reason I always stay in the UK for my hols.
been here several years back. took a small tour and we got there rained pretty hard. the place is quiet. we went to the bakery bought a few things. since it was raining there is a small church we checked out and it was very old. the caretaker was very friendly lady. we ate at the king George pub and had nice time. a low key town but it is worth checking out.
This brought back so memories of living in lacock, we lived on Bowden Hill, but my two sisters and I went to the primary school there, I was married in St Cyriacs church and we had the wedding reception at the Red Lion, we used to wait for the bus in the bus shelter, and play in the little stream sometimes, I wonder why the road up to Bowden hill is closed off with a gate, we used to walk home up that road, over the two river bridges and up the hill home, we used to go down to the river sometimes and catch Sticklebacks, or try to, with a stick, some string and a bent pin 😂, could write a book about all the lovely memories. Regards from Australia 😃
Thank you so much, glad the pace is right, we try and make sure you get too see everything without making it too long! It's a balancing act on the editing. 😊

A very awesome village, I visited UK many years ago and this was one of the places I was taken to, looking forward to your next videos.Diana from Argentina.
I stayed at The Sign of the Angel several times. One of the most unique bathtubs was under a low beam that could have caused a concussion if you arose too quickly. Also the large entrance to the hotel was to allow horses to walk through to the back so that lodgers horses were off the street. My room, which I have a photo of, had a blackened beam right in the middle. The food in the restaurant was outstanding. This was one of my all time favorite hotels. Jane, Philadelphia
Thankyou for showing these lovely places, the information is very helpful. Although I have lived in England all my life I'm interested in visiting these places after watching this channel
I have a soft spot for the English ppl, kind, articulate, courteous, strangers greet you, and once during holiday I chance to met the real English gentleman, bowler hats and walking stick. From where I came from, Singapore, ppl are tight lipped and dead pan faces.
This is beautiful. The nearest village to me for theraputic getaways is Lavenham in suffolk, which is also photographed a lot & many many yrs ago was famous for its wool trade.
@@MemorySeekers Yes it was lovely. Our visit happened during a promotion that the National Trust had going, "Lacock as Propaganda". It seems Winston Churchill, during WWII, had photos of Lacock printed and circulated saying this is the England we are fighting for. Even Churchill thought Lacock was the quintessential English village. How cool is that? And my wife and I just stumbled into the place at that time and were amazed at how well it is preserved and how beautiful it is.
England, for us who appreciate impeccable beauty. Colours of grass and trees are almost like on Roerich paintings, who painted worlds from astral realm where colours are richer than here on Earth. And then this architecture, language ( except those nasty spells ) , people, warm pubs, clean roads...Almost perfect...

It's an interesting play on the mind, when all of these old buildings are shown in these movies to give the "feeling" of old in a period show, but in reality, if the timeframe were "real" the buildings would look new for that time period.
5:30 I really like how back then, offenders were put on public display. "Ogled at by the local villagers". My other favorite English saying is, "House of ill repute".

I can see why its the most filmed village in England. stunning. I love the Tudor look homes and agree.. the way they just jut out and not in straight lines makes it more authentic to the tourist walking around.
The programme / film maker's don't have to disguise evidence of modern life either. No modern signs allowed, or TV aerials etc Just throw old straw on the cobbles and dress -up the locals in period costume.
Back in the 1950s I lived in a cottage on Bowden Hill just beyond this lovely spot. My return from school in nearby Chippenham required a bus change to a red and yellow Bedford coach/bus which took me from Lacock to the top of the hill where I left it while it then turned around to head back down.
