It was like you and Joerg had opened a great big Ole' English Storybook and made it possible for us to walk within its pages. The reason most people from Northern America / Canada in particular, admire European villages and small towns, is quite simple. Despite all the destruction caused by Wars, there is still, much that is unique, to admire. We have History , going back 2,000 years , and much evidence still, of how we progressed, in how and where, we lived. What remains, is now strictly protected.

Even with the poor weather it doesn't detract from the beauty of these villages you do find the most stunning of places around the UK. We are so lucky I think to live on this beautiful island 😁🇬🇧
The first time we visited Scotland, I "practiced" walking in the rain for the months preceding our late March visit. We live in California and don't get much rain but if we do it's basically only seasonal. I didn't want the rain to dampen my visit so I was determined to be sure I wouldn't be terribly unhappy if it happened to rain while we were there (since we were told it could rain at any time). Well, it was only overcast when we arrived and when we departed. We had a heat wave with sunny skies the rest of the time. However, I did learn that as long as I had a good raincoat, boots, and hat that kept my face from getting wet, I have no trouble be out and about in the rain. The next time we visited it was the last week in May and it snowed! I did have to buy gloves and a warm hat as I wasn't prepared for snow. You never know. These villages were spectacular. Thanks for braving the rain.
Oh you are right, it all depends on the clothes, that helps so so much. Yes, the weather can be quite unpredictable here. We were in the Highlands in May and it was too hot, it was very unusual but it was beautiful nonetheless. I hope you always had a great time here.
I absolutely loved this video! Those villages were so beautiful and peaceful. My daughter and I visited England in May. We did not want to leave. We got to visit some of the Cotswolds and fell in love.
@karenproietti8696 It’s Janet LOL We flew British Airways, and that was a wonderful experience. About all I can tell you is we played it by ear and went where we wanted either by the Tube or taxi. We were all over the place. Now, if you want to take a tour of a place like the Cotswolds, Windsor, Roman Baths, etc, you do have to book that online. It's easy to do. We also took the train out of Paddington Station to Cardiff, Wales, for a day. We also found our own restaurants to eat at. Everyone had excellent food! FYI, there is a mall in Shepards Bush called Westfield that has 300 stores and is the largest mall in Europe.
I LOVED the little quaint towns and romantic style cottages...but I had to giggle, wondering what the teens in those small villages dream about...probably want to see skyscrapers, huge cities lol! I grew up in a tiny farming area...cows, horses, churches, rolling hills and cornfields. BIG NEWS in our "town" was when a traffic light was installed...rumor was stores were coming and a housing boom was coming...but it didnt happen lol! I was so disappointed, as a teenager. Yep...learned to love my quiet, safe, quirky country hometown.
Wasnt I meant to be born in one of these little villages?! I am in love with them! Just watching them takes me to a dreamland that i dont want to wake up from.
This was completely delightful. It is difficult to believe people live modern lives in these picture postcard villages. Kirsten, I just loved that your floral skirl matched your floral umbrella! Your video made my day - Thank you for sharing.
Not forgetting the famous 'man from Porlock' who, while Coleridge in an opium-induced haze had devised the whole of his poem 'Kubla Khan' and had sat down to write it, called on Coleridge. By the time he left, Coleridge had forgotten what he was going to write, and we only have a few lines of the poem. Regarding the Horner tearoom, the Horners were owners of Mells Manor in Somerset for generations. The nursery rhyme that starts 'Little Jack Horner sat in the corner, eating his Christmas pie' is, between the lines, a dark tale about a Horner obtaining by deception the deeds to Mells Manor centuries ago and taking possession. No-one knows if there was any truth to the claim.
The famous Novel ,Lorna Doone, by R D Blackmore, written in 1869, is set in Somersets Exmoor, I've been to the Doone valley and the church that Lorna and John Ridd were married. A gorgeous site when the moor is covered in Purple Gorse, and the wild Pony's come to you for food ( which is not advised )

No matter the weather it's one of most beautiful amongst all your videos, the villages are the loveliest in the whole world! Hope you'll be able to get back there while it's sunny 🌞
Funnily enough I'm watching this wonderful video with a painting on my wall of the Periwinkle Tea room by my very talented Mother in law Susie Summers. She lives in Porlock and paints many beautiful pictures of all the places you have been to! She used to live in Stoney Street Luccombe where you started the video off. The 1990s children's tv series was filmed in Bossington - I'm pretty sure where you bought the apple juice was the home of George in the programme. Selworthy church is beautiful. What a shame the weather wasn't sunny as the view from the porch is one of the most breathtaking views ever. In August the church has a flower show which is beautiful. I do hope you both will visit the area again in better weather as you didn't see it at it's best! Xx
Oh I SO LOVE this, that's amazing. We loved Luccombe and Stoney Street so much, it was honestly unreal. I agree, the view from Selworthy Church is absolutely gorgeous. We even enjoyed it in the rain but on a clear day - simply breathtaking.
What lovely little villages, pulled right out of a children's fairytale book! Thank you for sharing, I felt like I was right there with you both! Cheers!
As a Canadian these English villages are just impossibly charming. 😍 Thank you for taking us to see them. As you say, even in the tain, they still retain their magic .
They get in their cars and drive to the nearest supermarket! Many of these villages won’t have shops anymore. Plus it was raining. Maybe the morning dog walk is the best time for coming across the lesser spotted villager!
Was für wunderschöne Gegend.
Even though it rained during your entire trip, I was in awe! English villages are straight out of a dream! So charming, so cozy, so quaint and beautiful. And you film it all beautifully, dear friend! 💕

Hey- Somerset, das richtige für uns 😉! So schöne Einblicke 🤩.
Love that you two special people are getting to enjoy making fun and lovely memories together while exploring these magical, enchanting areas! Lovely vlog!!
I love the old churchs and graveyards. Even though Germany doesn't have real old graveyards. The graves are pretty with all the flowers around the tombstone. It was like mini flower beds. We don't have that in the USA (mini flowerbeds). Great video!
Yes, Kristin, there is such a bittersweet sense of connection when you visit your mother’s final resting place and it’s beautifully kept. It’s almost a little like still being able to take care of her. I’m continuing to keep you in my heart and prayers as you continue to miss her❤
It just astounds how OLD and well-preserved the buildings are in these towns! The thatched roofs are so beautiful, too! Wonderful video, Kirsten and Joerg! The clarity of picture and framing of gorgeous views is well-appreciated.👏🥰
Picture postcard perfect villages! Beautiful. It makes me so proud to be English. Your videos are so interesting and beautifully filmed. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait for your next one. Much love to you both ❤️
Dear Kirsten and Joerg, Again you've blown me away with this magnificent video. It's so mind blowing to think of a building from the 13th century. Australia where I am is just over 200 years old. So it's literally incredible to see such places here of centuries ago. It's truly magical. I love your umbrella Kirsten. It's so pretty. Everything looks so lovely there. The rain doesn't spoil the video at all. It adds ambiance. Thankyou both so much. Gorgeous. 👌💜♥️💚💛💙🧡😊
As I mentioned in another comment: TIME STOOD STILL in these beautiful villages as well as in the English countryside. Love it!!! ❤❤ Thank you for your work
Thanks Kristen and Jorge. This was so beautiful. I love cottages even though, I am American. Must be my English ancestry. You both have such an eye for the romance
Thank you for showing all those story book villages and houses of England. It's my dream to see those places in person, but even if I visited England, I don't think I could cover all those less explored places. I love your video contents.
I doubt you could, there are just too many. I've lived here 50 years and only seen 1% of this country. There are thousands of these little villages scattered all over the country.
Glorious English villages and I love the quirky tearooms and my favourite is the English Cottage Gardens. I love how every space in the garden is filled with wonderful flowers. Thank you for the tour

Such beautiful architecture and so much history! I love old cottages and churches too. I took a little trip with you but now outside for some weeding and trimming in a garden that does not compare to what you showed us. Will you return to this locale?
Went to Dunster in 2004 with my daughter & dog. We stayed in a lovely B&B in a small hamlet named Kilve which was also delightful & had a lovely tearoom with gorgeous homemade soup! Worth a visit.
Absolutely love all the places you visit. The sweet cottages just capture my heart as well. I may never get to go to all of these places but get to capture this beauty through your eyes! Have taken some of the ideas seen, and even though living in the U.S. have worked to place flowers and other arrangements, so that our brick home, has a sort of look of an English cottage. Inspired by your videos! Thank you so much for giving me all this enjoyment and the love of an English Cottage!

I always like reading gravestones too and agree they're each a slice of history. It's so sad when the people died young (in childbirth, for example) and imagining the burials too attended by their familes. 😢

Dear Kirsten - you said you "don't paint" however you and Joerg paint the most touchingly beautiful moments for us all to share and we thank you beyond words --
Thank you so much!
Thank you for this beautiful video! The stroll through the villages even in the rain puts my heart in a place it always wants to be! ❤
Loved seeing all the English cottages and tea room’s. The beautiful flowers are a real eye candy treat. It’s all so enchanting and peaceful.
Xx
The TV series was The Famous Five xx
Oh I SO LOVE this, that's amazing. We loved Luccombe and Stoney Street so much, it was honestly unreal. I agree, the view from Selworthy Church is absolutely gorgeous. We even enjoyed it in the rain but on a clear day - simply breathtaking.
What lovely little villages, pulled right out of a children's fairytale book! Thank you for sharing, I felt like I was right there with you both! Cheers!
Thanks so much!
Are villages are so old I don’t think they were pulled out of a fairy book I think fairy tale villages were based on English villages !👍🏻🏴🌹
That sounds about right! :) @@tabitha4135

As a Canadian these English villages are just impossibly charming. 😍
Thank you for taking us to see them. As you say, even in the tain, they still retain their magic .
WOW !!! 🤩, by the way where are the villagers? those villagers are so quiet and calm. 🥰
We didn’t film them - it’s so important to respect their privacy.
They get in their cars and drive to the nearest supermarket! Many of these villages won’t have shops anymore. Plus it was raining. Maybe the morning dog walk is the best time for coming across the lesser spotted villager!
It’s wonderful ! It looks like came from a faire tale book!
The scenario is so much perfect as a frame for you guys!!!!
It really does! It was unreal to see some of those villages!
Your videos make us feel so happy. Thank you for all your efforts. Hugs. :o)
That makes us so so happy, really! Thank you!
Was für wunderschöne Gegend.
Even though it rained during your entire trip, I was in awe! English villages are straight out of a dream! So charming, so cozy, so quaint and beautiful. And you film it all beautifully, dear friend! 💕
Thanks so much Sara! Luckily it didn’t rain the entire trip. The first day was bad but when we visited Dunster the sun came out and we were quite lucky the next day when it only started the moment we drove home, phew.xx
Every week you bring us such a visual feast for the eyes! Such beautiful peaceful villages. 🥰🌷
Thanks so much!
Hey- Somerset, das richtige für uns 😉! So schöne Einblicke 🤩.

Love that you two special people are getting to enjoy making fun and lovely memories together while exploring these magical, enchanting areas! Lovely vlog!!
Kiersten & Joerg what a lovely scenary
I love the old churchs and graveyards. Even though Germany doesn't have real old graveyards. The graves are pretty with all the flowers around the tombstone. It was like mini flower beds. We don't have that in the USA (mini flowerbeds). Great video!
That's very true! Sadly I lost my beloved mother 3 months ago and for us it's so important to have beautifully kept graves.
Thanks so much!
It’s nice to see that such fairytale villages really do exist! Thank you for this wonderful video.
Just beautiful. I could happily live in one of those villages til the end of my days.
Picture postcard perfect villages! Beautiful. It makes me so proud to be English. Your videos are so interesting and beautifully filmed. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait for your next one. Much love to you both ❤️
Thank you very much!
My ancestors lived at Dunster castle
True fairytale beauty! Completely adore these beautiful villages. Thank you so much.
Our pleasure!
Gorgeous. 👌💜♥️💚💛💙🧡😊
Thanks so much!

THE BIRDS, THE BELLS, THE BOUQUETS! WARM FUZZY RATING... A 10..!!! TU JORGE AND KIRSTEN! 😊
Thank YOU so much!
Lovely villages, like out of a storybook. Love the sound of church bells. The old church and cemetery remind me of scenes from Poldark! ❤
May God bless England and the english heritage and the english culture. God save the King. God bless The UK.
I I would have no problems living in one of those super cute cottages in a small village ❤
I totally agree!
Oh how I love england . This is the most beautiful video. Thank you for this great trip, I really needed itI Love you guys.
You are so kind!
What charming villages! Thank you for taking us on your trip. It was delightful!
Glad you enjoyed it!
As always, a beautiful video, I love hollyhocks!
Thank you!
The presentation and music is exceptional, and the DREAMY ENGLISH VILLAGES is among the most beautiful in the world.
As I mentioned in another comment: TIME STOOD STILL in these beautiful villages as well as in the English countryside. Love it!!! ❤❤
Thank you for your work
Thanks Kristen and Jorge. This was so beautiful. I love cottages even though, I am American. Must be my English ancestry. You both have such an eye for the romance
It has the tranquil aesthetic of a Ghibli film.🌼
Thank you for showing all those story book villages and houses of England. It's my dream to see those places in person, but even if I visited England, I don't think I could cover all those less explored places. I love your video contents.
I doubt you could, there are just too many. I've lived here 50 years and only seen 1% of this country. There are thousands of these little villages scattered all over the country.
Glorious English villages and I love the quirky tearooms and my favourite is the English Cottage Gardens. I love how every space in the garden is filled with wonderful flowers. Thank you for the tour
I love England villages and I wish one day visiting these corgeas villages ❤❤🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Totally agree with you that those villages are magical. Just loved this video. You two have the best weekends! Thank you for taking us with you!!
Thanks so much!
Hello Kirsten &Joerg, I absolutely enjoyed visiting all these lovely , charming, quaint villages, I just wish I was truly there better yet lived in quaint village !! I can not express in words how I appreciate you doing these weekend trips and letting me daydream about being there too ! I agree with Joerg about visiting the old churches and the history , reading the old tombstones so interesting! Blessings -Paula USA

Awwwww England villages are like a little heaven on earth 🌎. Awwwww blessed are those who live here. Beautiful indeed.
I would give anything to be able to live in a place like that...what a dream come true that would be.
When we saw Selworthy from above, we thought we steppend into a fairytale.
My beautiful, beautiful homeland that i miss SO MUCH! Thank-you ❤🇬🇧
Simply awesome .❤ thankyou❤❤❤
The Villages look as if they propped out of a Fairy tale book & you ma'am suit well in that surroundings.👍😊
Another lovely video,l feel as if I'm there with you,all these beautiful villages that you visita,so many memories of England, but I'm able to visit so many places thanks alot to you, take care of yourselves love from Ann Italy 🇮🇹🤗❤️
Englands very lush and green from the rain. Pretty country
Thank you Kirsten and Joerg. Best travel guides. The BBC should take note and give you your own show!! xx
We are speechless- thank you so much for your kind words!
I always like reading gravestones too and agree they're each a slice of history. It's so sad when the people died young (in childbirth, for example) and imagining the burials too attended by their familes. 😢
🙏Thanks Kristen and Joerg for the beautiful video! Sitting at home can watch God's incredible creation of Experience the Magic of English Country side! Wonderful and Gorgeous! God Bless!👍🌺🏚️ The villages were very unique❤️🤗❤️
Somerset looks so romantic. I think the rain makes it a serene place one can find a cozy spot for a cup of tea and a good book!
There is 6,116 villages in the uk, which in total has a population of 9.7 million. Hard to believe really when some villages have about 30 people living in them.
Glorious! England exactly how it used to be (but just a little bit better😊). Absolutely beautiful video. Yours just get better and better.
Thanks so much!
All the gardens and cottages look impecable!
Absolutely enchanting! ❤ would love to live there in one of the quaint cottages! Wish I was with you buying the grape juice ! ❤🍇 🌸 thank you for sharing! I keep hoping one day to go somewhere as that! Both are so blessed to have one another to share such dreamy places!
Thank you so much!
Thank you Kirsten and Jörg for this beautiful video! I miss England so much, maybe I sell the house and move back to Dorset. My husband passed away New Years Eve and I sit here on my own in this big house and large garden. Too much to handle. Btw…we have awful weather, cold and rainy.
I'm so so sorry to hear that Angelika, please accept my sincere condolences. Of course it's all too much, I really get it. I just lost my mother and I break down every single day. Losing one's partner is the worst that can happen so I can't even imagine. I'm thinking of you. Please take care.
I’m also very sorry to hear of your loss. Remember your husband would want you to be happy with whatever decisions you make ok.
