- A simple, cheap and totally reversible solution to the famous neck dive problem of a Jackson Kelly. I couldn't find any videos on it when I was trying to find a solution so I made one!
It is just relocating the strap button, but switching out the neck plate so if you change your mind or decide to sell the guitar, you can go back to the stock setup.
I made the music in the video using the Kelly, and edited in Shotcut.

Thank you, man. Great trick. I made it here and it was amazing. If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to help.
The first production ke3, known as the Kelly professional in 96, didn’t have a neck plate, and had the strap button in the same spot you moved it to. I’ve just been using the neck screw on my 99.
Thks dude… have the same problem
Personaly I would not create som extra tension on the neckplate a such an bad solution as it already is. A more proper place would be at the side near the upper forward edge kind of strat style.
I agree. The neckplate already has a dedicated purpose to bind the neck and body. Id probably pick a close location but not on the plate
I’ve got a jackson Kelly, the strat style placement was where it came stock and it had more neck dive than an sg
when your using your drill through the guitar plate is that gonna damage the guitar once your place a strap button there?
No, its just a small drill hole, the same size as where the original strap button was located
@@hamedalharbi6590 he drills through the neck plate and then the body and I don’t know if he goes through the neck tho
Does a fender strat or tele neck plate fit on a jackson?
Thank you..!!!
Thanks, bro
How do you know how deep to drill?
experiance
just measure the original strap button screw and make a mark on your drill bit with masking tape or rubber band
Yeah I figured it out. My kelly has been free of neck dive for a while now. Thank you though.
Great and Mines a neck tru 😅
FFS!!! just get a better strap.... my KEXQ doesn't dive at all!!
