Right there, as someone that used to play super strats for years but then switched to Vs and never looked back... until a tried an X for the first time (Jackson Kelly Star) and found it to be the best of both worlds. Still love my fleet of Jackson Vs though.
i read this comment before getting to that part of the video and thought you were talking about the song by korn although that would have been just as jarring
This might be my favorite video of yours. I can relate to your sense of humor and I love the dry delivery. As always fantastic playing. Keep doing what you’re doing and I believe you have a bright future ahead so enjoy star gazing while you still can, before you begin to shine so bright you cause light pollution.
I bought a Kramer Disciple bass last month on a whim at my local music store. Looks, sounds, and plays amazingly well. The only real basis I had for Kramer quality vs budget came from this channel, and I'm super happy with it. Purple sparkly finish, ebony board, and a Duncan pickup for super cheap.
Ahahahaha, the old "can't play standing up" bit. 💀💀 I have always wondered why companies put stuff in that curve of the V, it defeats the whole purpose (besides, uh, being "V-shaped").
Not a fan of the old “taint” jack or strap buttons. Dunlop flush mount strap locks should be on every V shaped guitar I had a Dean Dave Mustaine V that had them.
First-time viewer. What a first impression! Clicked to see the V's, and then tested my kegels from laughing so hard! 😂 The demos were totally bitchin', and the extreme pullback on the Jackson was refreshing to hear. About that "violin" pose... Paul Stanley used to do that with his Flying V in the early days of KISS.
Dude, your video editing and production has grown in LEAPS in such a short time! I'm glad I was early, because this was your best yet. Great comedic timing and deadpan delivery! Keep 'em comin', Ms. Kent!
I so love your humor! I still wasn't past laughing at "this is the only V getting between your legs" when you dropped "Daddy?" I had to watch it again to make sure I didn't miss anything from laughing! You're a breath of fresh air in the world of RUclips guitar videos.
So many great moments in this video. Loved the intro, actually made me lol. The 6 min mark was so hilariously unexpected😂. Love your honesty! Looking forward to more.
I use a couple of flying V's, both of which are among my favorite guitars to use. I think it's not really so much a comfort thing (although one of my V's feels really good up high compared to the other) but, let's face it, it just screams rock n roll all over it. Which reminds me, I need to take them out for a spin!
As a seasoned musician (nice way of saying old) I really enjoy your videos. I hope they encourage more younger people to pick up an instrument. It's an outlet that nothing can compare too.
I dig this video. I've been playing Jacksons since the 90s but have something around from nearly every manufacturer I can think of. I've not tried the Kramer V yet. I am glad that Jackson finally moved the jack to the upper horn as for ages they were in the lower and annoying. I don't have a modern Kramer yet, mine are 84-85. My first nice guitar was a Randy Rhoads model. That Striker is on my list though. Keep up the videos!!
The fact that you went so in depth with this video and were able to put some humor in is why im happy i subbed the tones you have also and plays never disappoint! Rock on Kayla! Also i love the Nintendo music ^_^ now i need some wind waker music from zelda or twilight princess (or of course the older ones)
It's cool to see you growing as a content creator. It seems you becoming more comfortable on camera, adding in humor, Interesting cutaway scenes, etc and I like the gear review. Of course, I don't grow tired of you tearing up the fretboard either ; ) ...which reminds me, I need to knock out some trill exercises! : D
Thanks Kayla for the shredding! I was feeling kind meh but this review and jaming made my Day😊 Hilarious as well!😂 "Daddy?" LMFAO!!! Cheers 🍻 🛸 UFO's, Ace Ventura. Plus now Im browsing Zzounds looking at that Jackson.
Before I watched this video, I did NOT have a kink for being pinned down with a Flying V. After watching this video it's all I can think about. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE KAYLA?!
Girl you got some serious chops absolutely amazing now lmao that being said you already know this BUT! That intro with Gibson.... Bra. So many guitar and drum nerds just juiced over that one. Kudos girl I just subscribed to yo shit and can't wait to peep that content. NICE. All that aside I've always been a Jackson/ Charvelle..blah,blah,blah fan. Luv your videos
Another awesome video. I have had a Nite-V for a year and a half now and love it. The Floyd is holding up all fine for me. But that deep recess for the Jackson is very cool.
She keeps popping up on my feed and I thought she was super talented as a musician but the more I see of her, she's hella funny and cool too. I subscribed and actually really appreciate her product demos. If you see this, great work my girl Kayla! You're going places, don't forget us little shredders, lol. 😂
First time seeing your channel. You have an awesome personality and you made me laugh really hard. You play really well too. I'm an old foggie and Blues player. I love the look of all V shaped guitars, but for the life of me I could never get comfortable playing one. It sucks being old. LOL Cheers and thanks for the review
This was the funniest and best review of a flying v that I've heard. And that's from a guy that plays tele style guitars almost exclusively. I gotta get a Kramer now... 🤦🏻♂️ Do they make those for dad rock? Yes, yes they do
It's crazy how relaxed you look playing. I know that's supposed to be the key, but I have to concentrate on even the simple stuff that every muscle gets tensed up! :) Goals, goals, goals.
Gotta relax to let everything flow and the fingers and picking hand naturaly kinda bounce. Play super slow and clean with correct picking/hammers/pulls until a riff becomes muscle memory, then speed it up. Practice 1 thing for a minute, then work on some other stuff and come back to it after 3-4 mins. Take lots of breaks. Practice 6 times a day for 10 mins is better than once for an hour grinding at something.
Loved the whole beginning, especially how your voice fades away as he's staring at the screen. A few years ago I got a really good deal on a used Jackson RR24 with the reverse headstock and Blackouts for pickups. Thing's in C standard and paired with a (correctly adjusted) Metal Zone it totally slays. I never thought I could love me a V but I enjoyed it so much I went and got a hard case for it. Also I would be remiss as a plane nerd if I didn't mention that Gibson would need to sue Northrop Grumman, maker of the B-2 and now B-21(as well as the old YB-49). Until, that is, they come out with a guitar that looks like the SR-71
I love my Mustaine angel of deth and my solar v, but after seeing you kick ass with that nite v, I’m gonna have to have one. Sounded REALLY GOOD. love the playing. Dime is my hero. You’ve got the sound down.
I love those guitars... Seriously I almost bought the night V and ended up getting the js 32 rhoads... LOVE THIS THING... and like you were saying it's damn near perfect right out of the box... Literally ONE sharp fret at the 19th.. only 1 side of it and I only paid 350... Gonna put a pure tone in the output jack it'll help make it not come out these things are AMAZING if you've never heard of them it's only $10 and some soldering and your guitar will thank you
Jacksons are the best guitar on the planet next to ESP. Kayla, you are on point! I’ve been playing Jacksons since the 90’s. I recently got the Alexi Laiho purple Flying V and I love it.
Yeah, the location of the input jack on the Kramer is insane. No idea what they were thinking. You're basically forced to use an L-shaped cable if you're playing this thing sitting down. Other than that, I think the guitar actually feels good, both the shape of the wing cutaway as well as the neck. I got the fixed bridge version, which I prefer. I put the EMG Hetfields in it and now it's a pretty awesome axe.
I had a friend who had a V. I played it and it didn't feel right and it was fighting me the whole time. I learned never to want want one. To each their own. I play other guitars that feel right for me . 🎸 Rock on!
I have a MIJ DK2, one of the new US Virtuosos, the WR7, and the JS32 King V. Honestly the JS32 line is no joke, they’re an absolute steal at that price point.
i love your comparison of the flying v to a sports car haha!! Ay what did i say though? Not all the jacksons have rough fret edges it has to be a manufacturing location issue
Sick video🤘I mainly play a solar v and the input jack is in a really good spot for sitting. The only issue that it has is that the strap button digs into my leg. Seems like you either have a problem with the jack or the strap button nowadays lol.
My Absolute Favorite Video from you yet, and AWESOME Guitar Playing. I guarantee you Freaked everyone out at first with that totally REAL UFO. LMAO Great sounding guitar
You are an absolutely brilliant guitarist. I remember back in 1992 I bought a Jackson Randy Rhodes in London and it cost me £930. It had a brilliant neck and tone but due to its shape, it was very uncomfortable to play, so I bought an Ibanez S450. I wish I'd bought a Soloist first.
KAYLAAAA!!!! POWER METALLLLLL!!! That was super-dafically baddass, why is no one else playing this tune way-underheard tune, the whole album is awesome, but I can no one ever talks about it? Thanks for playing one of my favorite Pantera deepcuts
All the low end Jackson’s I’ve owned required new pickups but otherwise are fantastic instruments with quality craftsmanship. I personally believe they’re the best guitar maker for each price point. I used to play ESP but gave a soloist x series a try and still love that guitar! Any new elect guitar player I would recommend a Jackson
Instantly earned a sub from me from the crazy chops you have let alone the choice of memes and jokes. 🤘 Stay metal queen. Also using Super Mario 64 music as a backing track is a cheat code for likes. Maybe throw some stickerbush symphony in there next time! 😜
I have the js32 randy rhoads with the licenced floyd. The issue I had was the thread in the B string saddle sheared during a restring so I had to source a spare from reverb in order to be able to lock the string in the bridge. I never had to touch the intonation until that happened. Other than that it's a great guitar for the price and I'm more careful changing strings. I reckon that king v must be the same quality. I totally agree with you on the jack placement on the kramer. I'd probably go with the Jackson out of those two anyway because it's what I'm used to. Great video 👍
Oh how I would love a lefty... Affordable.... King V. I talked about my 32 in the last comment I made. Yesterday I put the 1996t left handed on it. Wow. What a difference that thing made. I'm waiting on a Gotoh locking nut and it'll be finished. I digress. I enjoy that your videos aren't 20 years long. Some reviews don't just cut the shit and tell it like it is. Thanks for that. Cheer and harmonics to you.
If wanna see the stars. I recommend mountains. I live in the blue ridge mountains of Virginia. Can see the full milky way from one horizon to the other. But thanks for this review. Been thinking of picking up a dinky for my lil bro. Def gonna go with the king here. Thank you. ❤ and definitely got dime smiling again with this one. Nailed it.
I’ve got a Jackson Scott Ian V hard tail. Really solid guitar sounds wicked but I agree I’m a little uncomfortable playing sat down and playing standing up means I’m always paranoid of chipping the edges
Got my first v back in January and it’s an ltd arrow, true is a 1000 series but still really comfy guitar as the out out jack is in a great place as well as the strap button
My very first guitar was a jackson dinky I got dirt cheap when I was going through a rough time in my life, the reverse headstock just drawed me in like a inferno magnet! Learned a lot from that sucker, then I saw a jackson v guitar for about 125$ and been using v shaped guitars ever since, honestly they are super comfortable to me and ridiculously easy to play, now that I’m used to a Floyd rose I want all my guitars to have em lol
I have a completely home-made V because back in the day these things weren't as affordable, esp for a Central Europe kid, and I desperately wanted a Jackson V. And so dad copied one to a tee (or to a vee), including the nightmarish strap and jack placement. It just never occured to us to place those better. And so I've been playing standing up ever since as it's been my only guitar for ages 😅 Nowdays I got some other guitars, but that V still feels the best. There's just something about its balance. All different shapes just feel weird to play on. (Also for reasons unknown playing while sat down, on a superstrat, makes my shoulder ache as all hell. Guess I'm just built for the V.)
Jackson for me the Floyd Rose Deep cut to allow double action. Plus The location of the jack... The strap button is more easily relocated... & I like the Fret Board better on the Jackson...Cheers 🍻 🥃🥃 🎸 🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶
With today's gear prices and so many used guitars on the market, almost no guitar is "worth it" brand new unless you are routinely gigging with it and are getting paid (a lot) for it. I would only buy new if it has a rare or hard to install proprietary system (Willcox Guitars' Lightwave optical pickup system, Sustainiac/Graphtech Ghost with Floyd Rose LB76 bridge and piezos all in one guitar). If you prefer Floyds, complicated electronics, and a guitar for every tuning/electronics combination like I do, then you need lots of guitars. In that case, the build quality of cheaper guitars is mostly great these days. Where they save money is on electronics and licensed bridges. A Schaller 1302 bridge, Seymour Duncan Triple Shots, a Shadow killpot, some push/pull pots, and skill with a soldering iron will get you an axe at or above American-made specs (minus any potential thru neck), for maybe $800-1200 vs. $2k or more for American-made guitars with half of the features. I own 50-60 guitars, most of them Jacksons, and most of them are from the 90-00s. Some are from the 90s MIJ Professional line. Others are MIJ of the late Akai and early Fender eras. Kramer Assault 220 FRs are a great value. 25.5" Floyded Les Paul style, set neck, OFRs and EMGs. Pop a 24 Volt Mod in there and you are gold. Korean made. The Chinese made Charvel Desolation series from the late 00s is also a good value. OFR 1000 (same quality, made in Korea, not Germany) thru neck, all mahogany, then new Seymour Duncan Blackouts on their upper end models. I have a 25.5" Floyded Les Paul model and am looking for their now hard to find star shapes from that line. ESP/LTD's EX Explorer line from the late 00s with a Floyd Rose bridge, only made for a few years, is also desired and hard to find.
Its funny. I was an absolute Explorer fanatic when i was 14-20 and now i like the Vs equally. Just both with how free they allow your right arm to be when playing
I’ve seen so many of your videos if not all, all I can say simply is 1) If you ever got to play as the Pantera Legacy tour guitarist even for a few gigs here & there, that would just be incredible & deserved beyond & 2) I cannot wait to hear the Kayla Kent band full throttle live in concert, seriously K 🙏🏼❤️🔥🤘🏼
As a guy who plays flying V’s exclusively, it’s like driving a sports car every day BUT IT NEVER GETS OLD!
Thank you!
Right there with you! I find V’s to be more comfortable to play than traditional shapes tbh.
Yes! As an exclusive Flying V player, playing a superstrat or any other 'conventional' shaped guitar feels weird
Right there, as someone that used to play super strats for years but then switched to Vs and never looked back... until a tried an X for the first time (Jackson Kelly Star) and found it to be the best of both worlds.
Still love my fleet of Jackson Vs though.
Honestly once you get used to a V you kinda feel like a dork playing a strat or les Paul shaped guitar
6:00 caught me so offguard Christ 😭🤣🤣
Same dude lol
Agreed . hahaha
Haha me too.
i was also caught off guard & LOLED so hard 🤣
'Revenge Of The Cantaloupe Cutter - Part 1' - Not Yet Rated
The serenity of the Mario 64 submarine stage theme being so horrifyingly interrupted by "daddy" will haunt me forever. lol
i read this comment before getting to that part of the video and thought you were talking about the song by korn although that would have been just as jarring

I totally agree 👍 This was hilarious! 🤣 It was so good I watched it three times! For the love of god, more of this please 🤘😎🔥
I'm confused if she is 19, 24, or 31. Her humor mixes like 3 generations.
Who cares?
She just has a good sense of humor that is all that needs to be said
1 generation spans 15 years....your examples span 12 years...aka, still just 1 generation!
Mastery of humor, transcends generations. Indulge in the humor, embrace it and enjoy it.
@@Mr_Based00 I'd still smash so not sure it matters eitherway.
Every time you play a solo I run to the front yard and start yelling slow down while shaking my fist at the street
6:00 😭😭😭 YOU HAD TO DO THIS TO US
I had to sit for the remainder of the video after that.
I'm still looking for a Kramer to experiment with.
Sad.
I bought a Kramer Disciple bass last month on a whim at my local music store. Looks, sounds, and plays amazingly well. The only real basis I had for Kramer quality vs budget came from this channel, and I'm super happy with it. Purple sparkly finish, ebony board, and a Duncan pickup for super cheap.
bought one after I saw Phil McKnight rip on one in one of Kramer's videos. Niece piece of kit.
Ahahahaha, the old "can't play standing up" bit. 💀💀
I have always wondered why companies put stuff in that curve of the V, it defeats the whole purpose (besides, uh, being "V-shaped").
Not a fan of the old “taint” jack or strap buttons. Dunlop flush mount strap locks should be on every V shaped guitar I had a Dean Dave Mustaine V that had them.
It’s great to see your confidence growing with the content in your videos. Was really funny to watch 😂🤘🏻❤️
Dude your content is so interesting now, Laughed hard in many places. keep it up.
Okay that Domination solo was like holy shit oh fuck oh damn
First-time viewer. What a first impression! Clicked to see the V's, and then tested my kegels from laughing so hard! 😂 The demos were totally bitchin', and the extreme pullback on the Jackson was refreshing to hear. About that "violin" pose... Paul Stanley used to do that with his Flying V in the early days of KISS.
Dude, your video editing and production has grown in LEAPS in such a short time! I'm glad I was early, because this was your best yet. Great comedic timing and deadpan delivery! Keep 'em comin', Ms. Kent!
Great quick demo of these two guitars. Your playing is top notch as usual. Thank you!😊
I so love your humor! I still wasn't past laughing at "this is the only V getting between your legs" when you dropped "Daddy?" I had to watch it again to make sure I didn't miss anything from laughing! You're a breath of fresh air in the world of RUclips guitar videos.

Impressed with the Domination solo, made it look easy
Love your sense of humour. always get a good giggle and a great review... Keep up the good work 😇
I own the Kramer and it’s my personal fav. It absolutely shreds and has a great sound.

Such a gem! ...oh and the guitars are pretty cool too! Love you Ms. Kayla!
It doesn’t matter who plays it, that Domination solo just rips your face off! Well played

I'm waiting on a Gotoh locking nut and it'll be finished. I digress. I enjoy that your videos aren't 20 years long. Some reviews don't just cut the shit and tell it like it is. Thanks for that. Cheer and harmonics to you.
I love your humor! You just earned yourself a sub😂
Really solid guitar sounds wicked but I agree I’m a little uncomfortable playing sat down and playing standing up means I’m always paranoid of chipping the edges
her reference to ace ventura was immaculate and now i’m in love with her
Hi Kayla. You got yourself a new fan thanks to Leon. I’ll be watching from now on. Love your playing. J 👌
4:26 MY FACE MELTED! I NEED A LAWYER ASAP!!!!!!!!
Got my first v back in January and it’s an ltd arrow, true is a 1000 series but still really comfy guitar as the out out jack is in a great place as well as the strap button
Thats the best I've ever seen the Domination solo covered 😳
And so I've been playing standing up ever since as it's been my only guitar for ages 😅
Nowdays I got some other guitars, but that V still feels the best.
Nice playing and you made me LOL. Subbed!
I pick Jackson, but the Kramer is nice too. And of course insane playing, I loved the legatos. Thank you for sharing.
