  • If you've been around Z1 enough then you know, or at least have heard, about the silver beast that was built years ago. Many people recognize the car but few know the full story behind it. We sit down with Russell to take us back to the beginning of this epic build.

I took a chance and sent my Z32 down to Z1 in 2002/2003 (if I remember correctly), and I've never regretted it since. I'm sure there are other great shops, but Z1 is the only place I bring/send my car, especially for anything mechanical that I'd rather the pros handle. Those guys are like my Z32's doctors. John and Robert have been like my brothers from day-1. Seriously, between those two, I think they know my car mechanically better than I do - they built and tuned it. I speak to those guys like I'm speaking to family. I think, for the most part, the Nissan Z family is really supportive and welcoming, and Z1 Motorsports is really a microcosm of that community. It's all encapsulated right there in Carrollton, GA.

Holy shit it was actually on the road! Great story Russell 20 year z owner myself. I remember you guys on the net back in 1998. Think I got my first performance parts from you in 2001 or 2002. You have served the z comunity well we all apreciate it. There are others to like specialty z and ash, but you have proven to be the biggest by far. Not gonna lie always been curious what that z would do in the quarter mile though? Doesn't matter it's such a nicely built can't do anything but apreciate the build. Keep up the good work man.

First off, thank you so much for all you have done, and continue to do to keep THE most beautiful car that ever came out of Japan alive and well. No Z since can hold a candle to it. Why Nissan decided to ruin the look of the Z we will never know. Had Toyota come out with the 350 and the like as Supras that would have been an improvement, but not in the case of the Z. You guys did a fantastic job on that car. A fitting tribute to an already beautiful car. I bought my 95 TT in 96 and will never sell it.

We loved the fact that you can dial down the power to make it a comfortable daily driver.
Our second z32 TT manual had 650 hp at the wheels but was not fun to drive on a daily basis, due to clutch, power curve etc problems and almost bankrupted me, supporting the local council. ha-ha ..........
We also owned a 400hp auto at the wheels that was Amazing to drive. The previous owner did the upgrade perfectly & gave it 'pocket rocket', standing start acceleration by installing a completion talk converter. We regret selling both those z32 TT 2 + 2.
We have just bought a 'barn find' 1991 zx TT 2 + 2 which we will lovingly restore to pristine condition and will become our weekend fun car, weather permitting. ha-ha

Hey Z1Motorsports, by any chance you guys have people visit a customers house to troubleshoot their Z32? I recently bought one and I have had some problems come up. I've spent the last 5 months trying to get it on the road again but I am stuck and don't know what to do. I wish I could tow it to your shop but it's an hour away from me. I live 30 minutes north east of Atlanta. I understand if you don't send workers to people's houses. I just figured I'd ask because I cannot afford to tow it. I just want to know what's wrong with my Z32 but I am so busy with college it's hard to find time. Especially since I have worked on it for months now and still haven't made any progress. It seems to be stuck in limp mode with no check engine codes, I've bought 3 MAF's, a new knock sensor and have checked everything that could cause limp mode. But still haven't made any progress. I am open to suggestions, but like I said, I wish I could afford to take it to a professional like you guys. Keep up the good work, love what you guys do for the Z community.

Can't see that ever happening given the slope of the hood. And if somehow it could it would WAY to expensive compared to doing a twin turbo conversion.

Z32 best body z ever. If i won lottery would buy any 2 seat t top and do great swap. 370z na 6 speed. 320 hp 6 speed. Lived my 90zxtt but i would live modern non turbo. 320hp is more than old tt and less plumbing and hassles. Beauty of z32 modern engine and trans. 320 hp is more tha enough for street for me. To me than is perfect z.

This guy buys the cheap stuff n then expects high quality....lol n then thinks he's in the right about complaining about it ......ridiculous btw almost everybody knows what you get when you order that stuff, I personally order the cheap ones because they ain't that bad for my needs.. I like to do a little custom work to my parts to make it look a little more modern and the little flaws the parts come with I can easily fix myself so I end up with a super nice part my way and on the cheap 👍👍
