  • The New York Knicks take on the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden as Jeremy Lin leads the Knicks to a win over the Hawks. The Knicks are beginning to even out the play time and scoring between players as Baron Davis begins to shine as the bench point guard with Jeremy Lin in rotation as the starting point guard.

    Lin came along and showed what a true PG with a good outside shot, good court vision and penetration and basketball IQ can do. The Knicks Point Guards before had athleticism and could run and jump but didnt have certain PG qualities. The Knicks had finishers but no PG to get them the ball. Lin arrives and the Knicks make a complete turn around with team play and chemistry which shows what a team can do - not 1 on 1 play all game long o feeding 1 guy all game. 1 Hot player vs 5 guys sharing the ball will lose.

    Jeremy Lin brought a share the ball culture to the Knicks. He even got Carmelo into the act. This team had potential. Leave it to Dolan to do something stupid and mess it up.

    • @robwebnoid5763
      @robwebnoid5763 3 месяца назад

      A 3-year late (long) comment... You probably have an answer by now but from my observations & from many others, I would say the fault is on James Dolan who, near the end of that season, told Jeremy he could sort of browse & scout around for other teams, when he should have signed him right then & there. Before you know it, Houston gave Lin a poison pill offer. Before that happened, Dolan said he would match any offer by any other team, even jokingly saying he would match "a billion dollars". Well, Dolan chickened out on the Rockets poison pill & the fear of luxury taxes. Lin said he badly wanted to stay with the Knicks but only Houston gave him an offer. He even told his agent to contact Houston to lower their offer but his agent turned that down, obviously because agents are paid on commission ... the lower the offer, the lower the commission. Even if Lin resigned with the Knicks, just the hype & anticipation of Linsanity the next season could have paid off luxury taxes, just as long as Lin & company could deliver the goods, even better than during that 2011-2012 lockout season. But the telltale signs were there that it was better that Jeremy left... such as there were big rumors & suspicion that Melo had a hand in sending Lin off, not to mention the rumor that Melo also ousted D'Antoni, forcing Mike to quit. Then the knee injury & surgery happened as well. There are much politics in the NBA & even some prejudice against Asians. Fast forward to today & now Jeremy has 2 championship rings, while Melo has zero, permanently, as Melo retired last year. Melo even had another opportunity to get a ring when Damian Lillard asked him to be on the Blazers a few years ago but Melo also squandered that chance. Perhaps it was also Karma. If anything at the least, Jeremy's divine mission in NY was to get them to 0.500 so they could get a post-season when the Knicks had a near decade of no playoffs prior to Jeremy & then when he left NY they again had no post-seasons other than the next year. After 2013, the Knicks had 7 straight seasons of no playoffs until finally 2020. Jeremy did similarly in Charlotte, which that team had a near-decade of no post-seasons prior to him, then Lin with the Hornets gave the Miami Heat a challenging full 7-game playoff & then after Lin left the Hornets they again had no playoffs straight, even to this day, which is now 8 years of drought. The only thing I didn't like about Jeremy in the NBA was that he became a journeyman. I don't know why, that when he was given the sole decision, he did not stay with a team longer than 1-2 years. I have to wonder if he will return to the NBA as player. He did that a few years ago but instead they put him in the minors. What idiots puts a 10-year veteran in the minor league? If he doesn't return as a player, he could always come back as a coach. He is known for his game IQ. And now that Klay Thompson has just left the Warriors, I mean there's an empty spot there waiting for Jeremy, heh. :)

    See Lin's hit at 6:00. He looks very shaken up; it's not the sort of thing that one can play afterward but will be hurting from the next couple of days.
    Two days later was the Miami Heat game where he played very poorly. I think a big reason was that he was injured in the chest. He bounced back after the All-Star game afterward.
