The Jeremy Lin Show Vs. Portland TrailBlazers (3/14/12)

  • In a shocking turnaround, Coach Mike D'Antoni steps down and Assistant Coach Mike Woodson (previously head coach of the Atlanta Hawks) takes over as the Interim Head Coach for the New York Knicks. The Knicks looked to end their six game losing streak, and they did just that by beating the Portland TrailBlazers 121-79. Jeremy Lin was without many highlights as the teammates entered the spotlight for their plays, but Jeremy played fine for his time in the game. Congratulations to all of the Knicks to reinvigorate their energy in their game.

    Jeremy wasn’t gifted with athleticism but he had the competitiveness and instincts that would’ve rivaled Jordan and Nash.

    One complaint about Jeremy Lin was he has too many turn overs. When you have the ball and distribute a lot, bound to have turn overs.
    Guess who has the highest number of turn over? Steve Nash.

    Actually Melo is not bad at all together with the whole team including Lin. But why Knicks not keeping Lin is still a mystery.

    • @robwebnoid5763
      @robwebnoid5763 Год назад

      Money. They were totally capped with contracts for their Big Three ... Chandler, Anthony & Stoudamire. The funny thing about that Big 3 is they were crap for the first several games of that lockout season before Lin was finally asked off the bench. Near the end of the season, Dolan said he would keep Lin for however much money, even jokingly said "up to a billion dollars". But Dolan chickened out after Houston's poison pill. There were other complexities in this story, such as Lin asking his agent to contact Houston to lower their offer, but that didn't happen because an agent would stand to get the maximum out of an offer due to commission pay. In the end, only Houston made an offer. I wish Jeremy stayed in NY, but there were already other problems in the way, such as D'Antoni quitting (probably because of Melo). When Lin said goodbye to NY on Twtr, he got a lot of angry racist remarks from so-called Knicks fans for leaving, when these people did not realize yet that the Knicks never even made him an offer. Had he stayed in NY for next season, the hype & popularity of Linsanity could have compensated for the luxury taxes of the poison pill. As long as Jeremy could still ball, of which he did in Houston, even making another 38-point game just as he did as a Knick in the famous/infamous game against the Lakers.

    At this time, 2012, I was still a Blazers fan, since the 1980's, especially during 1990 when the Blazers got the WCF win. That's at least 3 decades of being a Blazers fan. Ironically, by mid 2019, I finally lost my passion for the Blazers for 3 reasons >
    1. Blazers stopped airing free games on commercial television at end of 2016.
    2. Blazers lost again & swept in the 2019 playoffs.
    3. There were 2 rumors of Jeremy going to the Blazers in 2019 but none of that happened. You would think that 2 rumors instead of 1 would make a rumor come true more, but it didn't. Ironically, the Blazers chose Melo the next season. What a letdown. Then Melo went to the Lakers, which eventually became a trash team, even with big names in the roster. Today, Melo has announced retirement, with no championship ring.
    Whatever the case, my favorite time of the Blazers will always be the Clyde Drexler era. And I hope continued success & luck to Jeremy Lin, even if he had a scary head injury recently. Maybe one day he will return to the NBA, but not as a player, but as a coach. We already saw hints of Lin coaching & making plays when he sometimes had the clipboard on the courtside during his Rockets stint.

    That may be true for the most part, but it's also shown that Asians, or even Chinese Americans in Jeremy's case who've assimilated to the Western lifestyles of the Caucasians and African Americans would see these differences go away over time. Jeremy's only of the first generation of Asian Americans to have grown up in America, but he seems to be doing fine in terms of athleticism. So let's just see where this goes.
