The design is so much better than the ones promoted by other bushcrafters that I've observed over the years, being adjustable as it is! As the fire builds or reduces, you can adjust for the changes with ease! Thanks Sepp!

A very practical accessory for campfires 🔥.

Campfires? Friend you can make just about anything out there, from ladders. To chairs and tables. Bed frames, you can even make a good fire reflector basically doing exactly what he did with two sticks and drilling holes in the wood and just sliding Heatherwood down the holes like that. I've seen people make wooden Wheels, A-frames and all kinds of stuff with of this

I have several of these. The guy who invented them, was making them by hand. And he was selling them for between 80 and 120. They were too expensive, and he didn't make enough money to pay the patent. Now all of the ones that are made come from China. I don't know about how great the materials are. But you're talking about something that works on wood. So even the cheap ones will last a little while. I bought a couple for $30 when they first came out and now you can get them for about $8 a piece. They come with the leather case and a leather handle that snaps over it to protect your hands. I have used the cheapest ones and I haven't had any problems with them. I saved my more expensive ones for my bug-out kit. But when I'm just going out screwing around I use one of the cheap ones I keep in my car. I've never had any problem with any of them. They will literally drill holes all day long. And they will take a lot of abuse when you're making the Dow. I haven't even had to sharpen them after the first time. Some of them come sharp some of them are not so sharp but they have all held an edge for this. It does send me that the genius who came up with it got totally screwed. Shout-out to Shawn in the woods... another example of the little guy getting screwed and the ultra-rich making all the money. However my favorite one is kind of an oddity. It is the exactly the same as yours except for its a about a foot long. And now they're making them in different sizes, quarter inch half and 3/4. I've already ordered the quarter inch. The only thing I don't understand about them is they use the same ring on the top so it will only bevel 1 inch Dow. So you have to make your own dowel rods for the smaller sizes

Dear Sepp, as allways "Tipi-Topi"! 👍The only problem with this Bushcraft-Drills is the risk, that you can get good ones also as you can get crap. But many thanks for showing this again simple, easy and very useful idea! LG

I wondered why you were taking the bark off that branch. That is a pretty clever idea.

Hello Sepp, i hope you're doing well.
That's a really good idea to use the hole where the handle to get the stick to the right size.
I've seen devices like that but not though of that possibility.
    Have a nice day :)
