Doing bushcraft in the woods... A nice way to spend some time outdoors, carving up the COOLEST Campfire Pot Hanger I have ever made.
Using a bit and brace, i drilled out a hole in a green tree branch and sharpened the other end so that i could hammer it into the ground, next to my fire pit. I use another piece, from the same downed green tree, to make my cross member out of. Shaved one down to fit inside the hole of the other piece, and carved out a square notch for the Zebra Pot bale. This keep the pot from being able to accidentally slide off and spill.
So... only thing left to do...is cook up a nice meal over my new campfire cooking setup.
Thank you all for watching, i hope you enjoy this one.

*FAQS - Q.) Why did you kill a living tree? A.) The tree had been landed on by an uprooted ash tree last week at some point.
Q.) Don't you know how to sharpen your drill bit??? A.) I didn't know prior to heading out that it was dull. I will look to sharpen it before next use.*
Just a follow up to my remark about a chisel. Often I hear about learning how to make cordage, which is a great skill, but with joinery like you are exploring, I can see how a backpacker or in an emergency a prepper could conserve his cordage. A chisel can do amazing things and a light weight option for a drill, there is hardly a limit to what you can do. Once with nothing more than a chisel and my silky saw, I put together two 5 inch logs. No nails or pegs it took my scouts 3 days to pull it apart. It was so tight it became a sword in the stone game. A chisel don't weight anymore than a good knife and combined with my drill set up, no more than a small machete. Just a thought.
Very true. I am going to be exploring this topic in videos in the near future. I would like to build some more solid structures using those methods.
@@ScrambledO I'll be watching. Watch a little Paul Sellers he is a master with hand tools. Check out his poboy planer, it will expand your mind. Best part no drugs needed. Good luck.
for the most part, berfore posting a comment I usually read prior comments to check if mine would be pertinent or add up. Thanks for posting, the set up looks GREAT.
Daryl Gud
Absolutely agree on the chisel! I’ve recently started playing with mortise and tenon joints held with wedges or pegs. I think they look amazing, which is a nice plus. All you need is a saw and a chisel or I guess just a pocket knife, but idk if I’d want to spend that much time on it. Lol 😁
Very cool brother !
that sped up part tho!
Glad to see more content from ya, big guy :)
Yeah somebody already mentioned it look like I was cranking it LOL 😭😭😭
Joe what size Billy pot do you use?
Great video. Lookatdat bushcraftin' BOOOIE !
Thanks for the fun video. Well done.
When I was in girl scouts camping 65 years ago, we took 3 sturdy sticks and fashioned a tripod over a fire pit to suspend our pots. Carried only 2 S hooks. Easy peasy the simple way😉
You sure are right about that! I always loved the Tripod. So easy to adjust the height/location of the pot. I need to make a new one, mine is almost 3 years old. 😀😀😀
Keep it simple. And you don't have to pack 20 lbs of tools around.👍👍
Apart from a lathe, humanity must have invented a hand tool to create perfectly round dowels. We can bore perfectly round holes but the inverse is not so perfect. Love the video and you did a damn good job rounding that end.. A lot of bush woodcraft videos on youtube are pretty basic. We need more mid to advanced bushcrafting, more tool making etc. Hehe I think I just need some ideas.
Got to say it did make me laugh when you pulled a drill from your pack. Like we all carry a drill out into the wilderness. 🤣
I always carry a bushcraft auger. Knife, hatchet, mini saw and auger.
Another cool video, O! Thanks for sharing.
OUTSTANDING work BTW!
Looks suuuhh good dude!
That there my friend is a blunt drill bit
But fantastic for his new bodybuilding program.
Yea that’s what I figured. My arm still hurts from filming this last weekend.
@@ScrambledO To bad yall not going up to Shawns cabin to work on long house. He could sharpen that old drill bit for ya😎✌
Yup
Indeed
Nice silky saw
Loved this idea! Greetings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷

Really am impressed with the pot hanger! Much better than using the dovetail and simpler to set up than a tripod arrangementZ Also like the way you showed how to brave the knife against your knee. Lots of great ideas in this video that I can’t wait to try!
Yeah I figured I should show some safe practices seeing as how I gets so many comments about things I do that look unsafe LOL 😝😝😝
@Scambled O....ignoring comments on safety is safest including this one.
Love the video! Let me get that medium t shirt!😲

Good one Mr. O, glad ya back ! ( from Australia ) :-)
Where you made your knotch at the end you could make L 7 knotches in another stick to adjust up and down height !
I love you on Instagram. I been following you for a few years now. You crack me up. I also love your videos. Please keep them coming ❤️
Now you're getting there. Back to the love.

Give it a try man. It’s cooool
@@ScrambledO oh I'm going to all isolated at the minute but cant wait cheers mate
You're having too much fun! Love your ideas. My family is making a base camp in our backyard that's more fun than our house. Keep you and your family safe my friend.
I recently bought a scotch eye auger from shawn of the wild. Works well and is amazing for the end of your fittings because it is tampered on the eye and you just baton the end of the branch. Works amazing and its nice and packable. He calls it a settlers wrench.
Shawn of the wild
Yeah boi...
Because it’s green
Great job O :)
Thanks Richard
Scrambled Ingenuity!
Love these Slow-Motion shots :) awesome vid
I think I was just the 100th K viewer of this 😁 great video buddy
That’s pretty amazing. Thankful. 🤗
Hope all is well in the Scramble home. Done a awesome job on that pot hanger bud!
I would like a large T-shirt 😊👍
Great video, my boy and I just watched.
Auger bits don't like Greenwood by the way
looks real good though...keep ahold of it :)
Put your crossmember at the very top, drill a smaller hole through where you made your pot notch, get some flowerpot chain, "about 24 inches, it'll cost about $3", bring a 8 penny nail and an s hook, put chain through hole with s hook at bottom, extend chain the length you want your pot to hang, then put nail through top of chain above and across the crossmember. There you have an adjustable height pot holder.
Don't give up on the dovetail system. Start with sawing the angled notch in the post: Once you have the two sawed angles, then use your knife and a baton to split out the scrap in the notch. Then make your crossbar to fit the notch. The crossbar can be trimmed to be a triangle, round, or oblong. Maybe even square. The strength is in the notch and almost any shape will wedge in there.
