    Regarding the new regulations there can be never a gatevalve or any valve between the PRV and the geyser. You wil have watermeter, non return valve, gatevalve, PRV and the geyser

    The stopcock needs to be fitted before the prv to allow servicing of the prv and the rest of the geyser without shutting off the mains. Also, your stopcock is back to front. Your vacuum breakers also need to be 300mm above the geyser and your pipes need to be lagged

    • @yourface2978
      @yourface2978 Год назад

      yea, also that hot water vacuum breaker needs to be 200mm away from the outlet and then up 300mm.

    Meneer I give both up and down.The up giving general idea about geyser installations,the thumbs down is the order your installations.The stopcock after the pressure relief valve and the distance of vacuum breakers from top of heater must be 300mm.Its a good start,you'll improve if you do more research.

    Potential bomb !! Should be Stopcock, then Pressure valve, then balance tee for cold water. Stopcock can function as a non return valve stopping your pressure relief from functioning. If you have a safety valve failure, your pressure valve (secondary safety pressure relief ) will not function then KABOOM you've just destroyed the house and maybe killed somebody.

    The geyser installation is Non compliant, There may not be any shut-off valve between the geyser and pressure relief valve. and the vacuyum breakers must be 300mm above the geyser..

    • @zack.7277
      @zack.7277 3 года назад +1

      I'm no plumber but the pressure RELIEF valve was located on the side near the outlet pipe and there isn't a stop valve in place. This is the valve that makes sure the geyser does not build up excess press and explode. The stop valve was actually located on the geyser inlet pipe and it doesn't matter if before or after, in this case, it is after the pressure REGULATOR and if inadvertently shut off, the geyser will receive no water pressure in the first place to cause an overpressure scenario. The benefit of locating the valve before the inlet regulator is that you can change the regulator which tends to fail often without isolating the main water supply to the home since it has its own stop valve.
      (Just my opinion that I think makes sense)

    Please can you tell me if it is okay to install a geyser with the tank directly against a wall (i.e. touching the wall)? Or do you need to have a gap between the wall and the geyser’s tank?
    Why I’m asking is because I’m wondering if the cold wall touching the geyser tank would cause the geyser to cool down quicker.
    Thanks so much.
    Jacques.

    • @yourface2978

      you can mount it directly to the wall, it needs to be a strong wall not a single brick and only geysers 150L and less and the pipes need insulation

    The picture made me want to read the comments. Its a good illustration, but not entirely to how it should be. Take note, there is a gaurentee on the product, if it fails during that period , and not installed correctly, the replacement is a void.

I'm an ex Service Technician from Kwikot and your installation does not comply with SANS REGULATION 10254. Stop misleading others. You can be prosecuted by posting a non compliant Geyser Installation on a public platform!
