Excellent tutorial. I don't think anybody can explain it better. Excellent! Excellent!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Thanks for the step by step instructions. Love the "clean it with a lappie" statement. Proudly South African.☺
The space you are working in to get this content 🙏🏾🙏🏾☺️
Brilliant - this is without a doubt the best DIY video I have ever watched and I have seen hundreds over the years. #ProudlySouthAfrican
thank you
@@ecologicaltime I agree with Lucan - you have saved me a plumber call-out and taught me some very necessary home-life skills. You could start your own on-line school for home maintenance!
Brilliant step by step instructions. My geyser was tripping at the DB box. I watched your video and was able to change the thermostat, element, and gasket for the first time. Thank you.
Brilliant Video!!!
And even relevant today to help me out of a pickle...
Clear, concise and to the point... and i even learned how to test the element and thermostat confidently.
You're a great teacher and thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Fan for life!
Thanks for this video! I have never done anything like a geyser before and I managed to replace the element, thermostat and gasket by watching your video. I was quoted R2.5k for the job and managed to do it for R553 plus my time.
Sitting in the roof on the trusses , following step by step, awesome guide!
Nicely done. Learned a lot about testing the element and thermostat My geyser tripped the mains. The rubber seal perished, and water got in between the two terminals of the element. Replaced the rubber, and that solved the problem.
Philip! LEGEND video! I wish all DIY videos were this good and thorough! Thanks. Now I know what's involved and don't need to spend a small fortune for a plumber to do this. Appreciate your attention to detail (like cleaning to the outside and also torqueing the element plate).
thank you
The best so far step by step guide, easy for a first-time(DIY) user.Thank you so much.
Good video. Remember, Live wire is BROWN in South Africa... Blue is Neutral, Green/Yellow is Earth.
This video and channel are excellent for someone with minimal experience. Brilliant!
Lekker demo bro. Straight forward, no nonsense, good information, first class!
Fantastic video. Managed to replace my element and thermostat in 20min after viewing.
Thanks for posting this. Totally sorted out my hot water issue. Quick trip to Build It for a new element and good to go. Shout out from Durban. Thanks!
Great Video saved me a lot of money. Fastest DIY repair I have done. Brilliant!
Thanks a million, was a great help, so happy to see South African version. Well done.
Very helpful, I identified and replaced a broken thermostat swiftly thanks to you explanatory video.
My geyser just syopped working. Thanks bru. Now i know how to fix a geyser
Thanks for the video - clear & concise - I was to establish the fault was with the thermostat - replaced it in 20 minutes and saved a whole lot of money
Excellent video, thank you! Saved me a ton of aggravation and taught me some tricks I would otherwise have missed!
Just sorted mine out, was leaking badly with water coming out of 'what looked like' through the thermostat. Turns out the seal inside had turned to jelly, what was left of it.
No.5 allen bolt was also loose. Suspect because of the seal disintegrating so no amount of tightening would help in the long term.
Replaced seal and element for good measure.
Thx for the useful video mate.
Thank you very much for this informative video, I also have a KWIKOT 600 Dual Electric Water Heater IPx4 Rated geyser bought at Cashbuild/Builders's Warehouse (cant remember), after 4,5 years installed and working perfectly, it started tripping the earth leakage circuit breaker on the main switch. I first replaced the thermostat but the problem continued (which means the original thermostat was still in good condition, hence I kept it). I then went on to replace the element and the problem was fixed! This video is very helpful!
Bro, thanks a lot for this step by step video, I’m currently looking to replace my geyser element as it’s tripping the main earth leakage. It’s a 3kW element and resistance test is about 16ohms. Thermostat seems ok, as it switches on the live contact. Had geyser installer replacing the element early in the year and has done a horrible job. Thanks once again, now I can do the job myself correctly.
Hi did you sort your issue out? Please tell me what was the problem as mine is doing the same thing
Dude, thank you so f*ing much for helping me solve the big geyser issue, but min cash problem!

Thank you for for professionalism
Kwikot 400kpa khn3.214 pressure valve is humming now after replacing it 4 years ago. Running cold water taps makes a low humming sound. Flushing a guest toilet upstairs makes the regulator hum like crazy, the whole house is filled with this loud moaning, and the regulator even has a high frequency vibration when I touch it.
No solution anywhere. I'm thinking I need to service the pressure control cartridge which is the best thing I can guess from online info. What I know is that my unit is serviceable and yet if I call any plumber they will tell me it's broke and I need to buy a new one. Then they score my one and just service it.
Holy moly I just figured it out. 😂
Excellent video
Thanks my brother i keep it up
Thank you so much.
Thank you, made replacing my element kids play
Thanks for the help
Thanks for guidance
Thank u for your input .
Thank for a very good video.
Thanks for the very thorough and clear video. In my case, the problem was the element. I took a chance and replaced it based on symptoms, without the thorough testing shown in the video, but the result was good. The part I was stuck with was draining the water out of the geyser inside the ceiling. I was used to doing it up on top of the roof from a solar geyser, but it was the first time I had to drain a geyser inside the ceiling. Definitely a video that a non-technical person like myself can go back to over and over again. Thank you so muck!
Good video thanks for posting
Baie dankie, awesome video.
Very helpful 🙌🤝
Greet video, thank you
Excellent Video
Thank you. Im doing this today and was not sure how to remove the thermostat for testimg. It is my timer as well
Great Video thanks.
Just a note of caution, so that other people don't make the same mistake I did, if you buy a nasty splash works replacement element from Builders Warehouse the threads on the heating element that you screw the Allen bolt into, which secures the element to the bulkhead fitting aren't cut deep enough for the bolt to pull the element tight up against the rubber gasket. So what happens is you tighten the bolt, install everything and as you fill the geyser water starts pouring out around the element and you think how can that be?
Truth is the Splashworks element is a poorly made POS. You then drain the geyser again unbolt everything in a hot, confined precarious environment and have to use a M6x 1.0 tap to tap the threads full depth in the back of the element, so that the Allen head bolt will screw in deep enough to clamp the element firmly up to the rubber gasket.
Other than this frustration of buying substandard merchandise, element replacement was exactly as you described.
Look forward to more of your DIY videos.
thanks for your comment and important info for the viewers.
Have u done one with geyser pressure valve replacement. I got an issue that with my one, water flowing out none stop. I did switch off geyser and close the water inlet tap before the pressure valve. The water that run out is not hot but cold, however the water from the hot tap is hot as normally are.
Thank you so much
Thank you!!
Thanks a stack for the very informative video. Any suggestions on how to solve air in hot water supply, seems to happen frequently, water spluttering, then goes away until next time...
Dankie. Ek sien nou kaans om dit te doen.
Great video, ill be changing a geyser element next week and havent changed one in like 7 years so good to brush up on the process by watching your video!
Hey thanks for this. I have same geyser but its leaking from the element at the bottom from those pins where the thermostat goes in. Changed the thermostat but it has stopped working because of water leaking through those points and going into thermostat resulting in a short circuit. So the water keeps getting so hot that it starts boiling and throwing water out from the pressure valve from top. Could it be the seal inside the geyser that has worn out? The flange?
Thank YOU!!!! :)
