Always with the Epiphone haters. Peeps, not everyone can afford a 3 grand Gibson Slash model. Epiphone does a great job making quality products that people can afford. And do you know who suggested to Gibson that they make an affordable Epiphone Les Paul? Les Paul himself.
As much as I admire and love Slash, it bothers me that he promotes his Epiphone signature but he would never play a riff nor a note just to demo them for 10 seconds.
You know why he doesn't play them?...because he is freaking Slash, that's why. He can play any guitar that he wants. But a lot of people aren't Slash and cannot afford a Gibson version of his guitar, but are really excited about these. I think it is cool that people can get an instrument that is an affordable version of their hero's guitar.
@@trevormosher1678 except it’s not a good representation of Slash with pro buckers. This is a top of the line Epiphone - there are less expensive Epi’s that have MUCH better humbuckers that are closer in quality and tone to what slash uses. And nobody should have to pay top dollar on a guitar only to have to pay a significant amount more for better humbuckers that will sound more like Slash. Like I bought a real Gibson last summer because I was originally gonna mod out an epiphone lpc, so I wouldn't want to do the same thing with one of these ones. Still sound pretty good but I really wish they had the Gibson Slashbuckers
Its even worse when you realize just how ugly the standard toggle switch looks, you compare that toggle switch with the ones they been doing with the 1959 outfit and you will see just how much more refined sleek and beautiful it looks with the switchcraft toggle switch on it, whats even worse is that i dont think we know the full specs of these are they using true 50s or 60s wiring? Are they using the sheet wires or the good ones, and is the output jack also of "high quality"
Hell yeah. Everybody is talking about buckethead now. But we all know buckethead is only stupidly fast and his solos don have any melody. Unlike slash. Slash have best solos and they have such a good melody
@@Slashturianu Definitely. But remember how several brands and models became dear to us: association with our favourite artists. I wish these affordable models were available when I was a teenager.

I have Slash’s very first signature guitar I believe. The one with the Fishman power bridge. Sounds amazing, but I don’t play it much anymore as my music taste changed. Would never part with it. Sold the original AFD replica Gibson did. The neck was like a baseball bat and I didn’t get on with it. Also sold the original Gibson Slash Goldtop. The man has had a lot of signature guitars.
I was blown away when I saw these on Sweetwater and how awesome of a value they really are. I already have an Iced Tea Gibson LP, so that tobacco burst is looking pretty nice! Those $999 LP Specials are looking pretty good too.

For the people commenting about the pickups, and that they don't see any difference between the Epiphone Slash vs Epiphone Standard, you may want to check out the Andertons video comparing the Gibson model against the Epiphone. It's very enlightening. Since tone is ALWAYS subjective one man's trash is another man's treasure holds true here, apparently Epiphone has completely copied the Slash neck carve, so if you like something between a 59 and 60 carve you're gonna like this. Definitely different enough to check one out. The case is nice too.
Slash Epiphone Amp ,pedal,lead, picks,aftershave, hair products,garden furniture,electric car,phone ,watch,beer,sunglasses,and on and on🤷♂️ Slash is a mother of a Guitar player!
Looking to buy my first Epiphone. Dont know how to play but at 57 and the kids grown up I am going to try and learn. I know spending $700 plus on a guitar when you don’t play is expensive but just want something good. Thinking about the signature green. Wish me luck, I know it will be a long road.
Honestly if I get one it’ll be the Appetite version and swap the pickups with the Seymour Duncan Slash ones. Then turn around and sell the factory ones to recoup a bit of the extra money I had to spend.
The thing is... even if you were to put some high end seymur duncans on it, we all know the toggle switch is not switchcraft neither is the output jack and potentially there may be other components they cheapened out on, my 2009 1959 epiphone standard limited edition has more upgrades from the factory then this piece of sheet, all youre paying for is literally the sticker on the back of the headstock, thats it
All right, if slash Endorses it this will be my second guitar, after my fathers 67 Gibson 335 TDC. one of my life’s goal is to play at least one slash written song perfectly before I die.
When Slash plays one of these stock, straight from the factory (with some set up for string height & intonation) for an entire gig, I will then consider buying one. Until then we can assume the pickups aren't up to scratch and it's a generally over priced guitar. All well and good doing a promo video to sell it but if you wouldn't use it live then don't take the project on. Can't even find a photo of him playing live with an Epi
@Mark Seymour Fully appreciate that argument, on the flip side though this is double the price of a Standard Les Paul with no real upgrades apart from the different colour choices and a Slash logo. £800 for an Epi is a rip off especially when it comes with stock Epi pickups that you can get on most £400+ models. All other Slash models have come with his duncans in them and I believe they were selling for £569 at the time. Side note: I have a Gibson, I don't care what Slash plays but he is putting his name to something that he totally wouldn't play himself was my point..... oh and it's over priced by about £300. Side note 2: Even the Gibsons don't have his Duncans in them!
@@cyberscooby69 Dude.....you are spot on with this. I think if a person wants a Slash style guitar, go to a music store and find an Epi Les Paul Classic with a good finish, good binding job, good fretwork, and buy it. Get the SD Slash model pickups, rip out the wiring on the Epi (most have the printed ciruit board with the quick connects) and redo it by hand with the Slash pickups. Replace the pots with CTS or Bournes (they'd have to get different control knobs as well), Switchcraft toggle and jack, new capacitors. Then you'll have a killer Slash style guitar. Like you I have Gibsons as well, but my own little Epi Silverburst that I modded is an absolutely killer guitar and the price was definitely worth it even after the upgrades. I'd gig with my Epi any day just as I would with my Gibsons. I don't know what's on Epiphones/Gibsons minds, but it's become pretty clear it's not about the guitar, guitar players, or music.
Slash, been a fan from beginning! Was wondering if you had the American series special ll Sg Epiphone made in Kalamazoo 1982 as part of your collection , Epiphone put them out with the map series electric I think for like 82 to 83 promotion, if you don't I have the last one made in Kalamazoo it's yours if you want it! Keep on rockin !!
I own the 59' Epi. They did everything right on that guitar for s $100 less including a vintage brown look hardcase lol. Burstbucker pickups are better than probuckers even if they tweaked all of them in the custom shop. All that aside, The Anocoda one looks very cool. If I were to get one, I would take out the pickups and put my favorite handwired pickups in it. $899 is pricy for not getting the right pickups but still not Gibson Les Paul money. I have so many guitars now including a Gibson Les Paul Standard. I also own an Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul that's killer with the Fishman Fluence pickups. Same price as the Slash that smokes the probuckers and 24 frets. So the Prophecy and the 59' Epi LP are much better IMO.
Lol this will be the only time you will ever see him hold one of these! To endorse the product! When this shoot was over her was like "Ewww get this thing away from me!!! Gimme some hand sanitizer!!"
I strongly dislike the old Epiphone headstock when it comes to the Les Pauls, so I'm stoked to see the Appetite Les Paul with the new headstock. These are all super cool, but I'm definitely the most excited about the AFD
Those guitars seem to have the binding on the top of the guitar scraped and to only have a two pieces back without a veneer (which Epiphone uses to hide on the other Les Pauls with several pieces). This looks much better and closer to the Gibsons models. Is that the reason why they are asking more money than a 1959 model? Sadly, they don’t come with the Seymour Duncans APH-2 just like the Gibsons ones.
I think it was a video for Ernie Ball. Probably something he was working on for a new song at the time. That video was cool because he was actually using that little 5-watt signature Marshall he had out years back.
I gotta tell you they gotta a winner here. I played the shit outta of one today n it's a hellva axe. The shit stayed in tune n for $900 it's a worldbeater/ Tempted but G.A.S syndrome is in full effect/ The Epi's are getting better n better...
I got the appetite destruction epiphone the last 8 years. It just complain about the pick or wiring did not worked some time due to lost sound after some time. Hope that the new one will improve a lot. Anyhow I still love Slash from Malaysia. I was to get that guitar as a last man.
Gotta say, if Slash's name is on it, at least let the public see him play it, in the advertisement. If you aren't going to have him play it in the ad, show video of him playing one of these guitars on stage. EVH played Wolfgangs on stage, John Mayer played the Silver Sky in the ad and on stage. Billy Gibbons is always showing off the Billy-Bo.
Jokes apart epiphones are also very good . They have a feel of less paul guitar . They are very good in there price segment .If you are already a musicians and have rigs than go with epiphone as you can make it sound like Gibson with rigs . But if you not have rig then it is also okay epiphones are great
Is this thing on? hello, Epiphone are you listening.... So a minor misstep with this first run and the choice of pickups, but there is still time to update/upgrade, blame the whole thing on COVID/production issues. Slash guitars need Seymour Duncan Slash pickups. Winter NAMM 2022 is still a few months away plenty of time for a relaunch.
All these “Slash doesn’t play an Epiphone on stage” comments… did you say the same to Alex Lifeson a few weeks ago? It’s been like that for any professional musician, or artists in general. Do you ask a racing driver why he or she doesn’t drive cheap cars on the track?
Troy Van Leuwen plays on stage his MIM Fender Jazzmasters . And so does Josh Homme with TVL's Jazzmaster. Search for their videos when they toured with Iggy Pop. Trivium frontman plays his Epiphones live all the time. A lot of people play their middle budget signature guitars, on stage. Billy Corgan with his Reverend. Also Reeves Gabrel . Jared James Nichols plays both his Epiphone signature models live. So,...
@@omni434 actually he's exactly right, Lifeson doesn't play an Epiphone on stage, neither does Slash, they are making a less expensive version for people who can't or won't pay the Gibson price. The comparison is spot on.
@@omni434 I disagree, obviously. The stage is a professional environment, where you don't take unnecessary risks with your equipment. (Unless you're Pete Townsend, maybe.) Of course people can and do play cheap guitars on stage (see Jack White), but try telling them they *have to* and see how far you get. Always with the Epiphone haters. Peeps, not everyone can afford a 3 grand Gibson Slash model. Epiphone does a great job making quality products that people can afford. And do you know who suggested to Gibson that they make an affordable Epiphone Les Paul? Les Paul himself.
I have two Epis , 2019 Standard , 2020 Custom. This one is OVERPRICED .
Looks like Gibson price 😡 but Epi pickup?
Mr Les Paul.
We will see those guitars everywhere but on a stage played by Slash...
Why would he play an Epiphone? He can afford the real ones. The kids and less wealthy people these are aimed for, is not.
As much as I admire and love Slash, it bothers me that he promotes his Epiphone signature but he would never play a riff nor a note just to demo them for 10 seconds.
Good point
Lmao yeah
You know why he doesn't play them?...because he is freaking Slash, that's why. He can play any guitar that he wants. But a lot of people aren't Slash and cannot afford a Gibson version of his guitar, but are really excited about these. I think it is cool that people can get an instrument that is an affordable version of their hero's guitar.
@@trevormosher1678 except it’s not a good representation of Slash with pro buckers. This is a top of the line Epiphone - there are less expensive Epi’s that have MUCH better humbuckers that are closer in quality and tone to what slash uses. These are sadly the lower end pickups that aren’t worthy of being put on a guitar at this price point, even with Slash’s name. And nobody should have to pay top dollar on a guitar only to have to pay a significant amount more for better humbuckers that will sound more like Slash. It’s a guitar that’s supposed to SOUND like slash, not just look his part
@@trevormosher1678 Zakk could say the same... But he plays his Epiphones... For demos and live.
I understand he doesn't take Epis on tour, but at least play a couple of riffs.
i feel like so many more people would buy this if it didn’t have the probuckers
@Bobby Murphy I have them, they are nice but they are CHEAP, and THEY ARE NOT SLASH ALNICO II PRO
I have a Video of november rain with the Seymour Duncan Slash and a video with the Probuckers Go and compare!!!! Seymour Duncan are less muddy, clearer.
You can not ask 899 and give that Cheap humbuckers!!!!
Absolutely agree
I was so excited for these les pauls to come out and then when I heard one it was a turn off tbh. Like I bought a real Gibson last summer because I was originally gonna mod out an epiphone lpc, so I wouldn't want to do the same thing with one of these ones. Still sound pretty good but I really wish they had the Gibson Slashbuckers
im personally in love with the seymour duncans saturday night special humbucker set in a les paul
Slash continues to be the coolest rock star ever.
Hell yeah. Everybody is talking about buckethead now. But we all know buckethead is only stupidly fast and his solos don have any melody. Unlike slash. Slash have best solos and they have such a good melody
@@matorohy9170 bucket head is amazing but i prefer slash
Rock is out of the spotlight but slash endures
Good music lives on, though junk is in the mainstream now
My first guitar ever and the guitar which I made over 1k songs with, was an acoustic Epiphone Folk style.
I can’t afford the Gibson Slash guitar so I will definitely be getting on of these
Better buy the Epiphone 1959 Standard has Gibson Pickups and its cheaper¡¡
@@Slashturianu how about the finishes?
@Bobby Murphy Yes and you can upgrade the pickups!!!😉 like I did in my Custom
@@jjbast They are nice, but my 2020 Custom is nice and have ebony fretboard and its cheaper!!!
I like all the finish except the red one
@@Slashturianu Definitely. But remember how several brands and models became dear to us: association with our favourite artists. I wish these affordable models were available when I was a teenager.
I bought the Epiphone Slash Collection Les Paul Anaconda Burst, and it is probably my most used guitar. It's such a great guitar. I definitely am gonna work towards getting the other ones, but for now, this one will work just fine
Personally I would save 300 more dollars and get the USA gibson tribute.
exactly well said
I was blown away when I saw these on Sweetwater and how awesome of a value they really are.

I have one Epiphone Standard with Probuckers 2 and 3(2019) and one Epiphone Custon with Seymour Duncan Slash alnico 2 Pro and the difference is HUDGE
I am hearing nothing but good about these models. Good to see Slash making something more affordable available with some surprising specs too ☺
Slash does not make guitars; he simply makes money for putting his name on it.
@@omni434 it's a good name 😎

"Don't buy what I hold just play as I do"
Looking to buy my first Epiphone. Dont know how to play but at 57 and the kids grown up I am going to try and learn. I know spending $700 plus on a guitar when you don’t play is expensive but just want something good. Thinking about the signature green. Wish me luck, I know it will be a long road.
That Anaconda Burst is perfect.. :)
Liked to have seen an Alnico 3 in the bridge though.
Sweet! I have an Ibanez les Paul 25.5 inch scale but these epiphanies are nice looking
Finally a new slash video I was just watching one when this was posted
Disappointed about the pickup choice, for top-of-the-line Epi... :(
I'd get the Victoria and put his Duncan set in
@@Xaion6 Exactly... and you'd be left with money to spare.
Honestly if I get one it’ll be the Appetite version and swap the pickups with the Seymour Duncan Slash ones. Then turn around and sell the factory ones to recoup a bit of the extra money I had to spend.
@@willsei I’m gonna do this but never thought to then sell the probuckers. Smart!
Just get the Epi 59 Les Paul.
Its 10x better
I own the 59' Epi. They did everything right on that guitar for s $100 less including a vintage brown look hardcase lol. Burstbucker pickups are better than probuckers even if they tweaked all of them in the custom shop. All that aside, The Anocoda one looks very cool. If I were to get one, I would take out the pickups and put my favorite handwired pickups
in it. $899 is pricy for not getting the right pickups but still not Gibson Les Paul money. I have so many guitars now including a Gibson Les Paul Standard. I also own an Epiphone
Prophecy Les Paul that's killer with the Fishman Fluence pickups. Same price as the Slash that smokes the probuckers and 24 frets. So the Prophecy and the 59' Epi LP are much
better IMO.
ill buy when he does a tour actually playing an epi
Lol this will be the only time you will ever see him hold one of these! To endorse the product! When this shoot was over her was like "Ewww get this thing away from me!!! Gimme some hand sanitizer!!"

I strongly dislike the old Epiphone headstock when it comes to the Les Pauls, so I'm stoked to see the Appetite Les Paul with the new headstock. These are all super cool, but I'm definitely the most excited about the AFD
Woww.. ephiphone slas signature
Didnt he use this same riff for a demo at some point? Sounds awesome
I think it was a video for Ernie Ball. Probably something he was working on for a new song at the time.
That video was cool because he was actually using that little 5-watt signature Marshall he had out years back.
Me encantan yo tengo la rosso corsa y la anaconda burst muy buena calidad no tiene nada que envidiar a las gibson
From what I am seeing from the Epiphone site, none of these come with the Seymour Duncan Slash signature pickups. What's the deal with that?

Slash sounds so different.
This is best thing happened in 2021 . Way to go Gibson.

All these “Slash doesn’t play an Epiphone on stage” comments… did you say the same to Alex Lifeson a few weeks ago? It’s been like that for any professional musician, or artists in general. Do you ask a racing driver why he or she doesn’t drive cheap cars on the track?
What a ridiculous comparison.
@@alphajames33 His comparison is between a guitar and a race car. That’s like comparing oranges and bowling balls.
@@omni434 I disagree, obviously. The stage is a professional environment, where you don't take unnecessary risks with your equipment. (Unless you're Pete Townsend, maybe.)
Of course people can and do play cheap guitars on stage (see Jack White), but try telling them they *have to* and see how far you get. Besides, Slash or Alex had a roadie at the side of the stage holding the backup guitar for every song.
