ERIC CLAPTON WAS THE FUCKING KIN G OF THE LES PAUL RESURGENCE IN THE 60s. Slash wouldn't have picked up a Les Paul if Eric never had. Seriously. Not dissing Slash but Eric Clapton (God) is way more deserving a collection.
He is an awesome player and I love (and try to steal) a lot of his stuff, but the main reason I bought a Les Paul was that the "Anaconda Burst" could finally be had for less than $5K.
I felt in love with Joe Perry’s 1959 burst instantly the first time I saw the video of November Rain and Slash posing in front of that church. 23 years later I was able to afford a custom shop one. It was an eye opener, that high quality guitars have that hefty price tag for a reason. I sold all my other electric guitars except my modded Tele and bought a 1960’s Fender CS Strat that I absolutely love. Now owning the holy trinity of electric guitars i can say that the Les Paul is just something entirely else. It stays in tune way better than any guitar I ever owned and still own (no offence Fender), I can get the action down comfortabley low without buzzing, it has sustain for ages and it just feels unbelievably comfortable in the hand. It will stay with me until I breathe my last breath. Thanks Gibson for building such an incredible piece of art and thanks Slash for being such a badass and inspiration from Appetite till today, you, Miles and the Conspirators absolutely rock!
Enjoy it! Slash turned me on to Les Paul's too and I finally bit the bullet and brought home a 50's Cherry Sunburst the other day. They're great guitars!
Joe bugged Slash about that guitar that he damn near changed his phone number! Showed up at Joe's 50th birthday and handed it to him and abruptly left...no money changed hands! Goodlord, can you even imagine what that guitar would sell for? What "pedigree "
Slash is to the Les Paul what Jimi Hendrix was to the Strat. I have a feeling 40 years from now, Les Paul models more closely related to ones that slash played will still hold higher value.
It was specifically the first solos’ of: November Rain and Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door that sold me on getting a 2018 Gibson Les Paul Traditional in Honeyburst. The Sustain , The Tone, The weight, and my god.. that Vanilla Scented Maple Smell when you open up the candy hardcase. Gibson, make a cologne out of that smell please!
Nice. Slash once said years ago "It wasn't like I reintroduced The Les Paul or something...". Yes he did, to great effect. All about the Shrapnel scene just before borrowing AFD before it blew up. I loved everything about Slash's playing.
this guy single handedly lift Gibson LP into mainstream again in 80's, back in the day in all magazine such as Kerrang, Hit Parader or Circus all guitarists of rock band usually posed use pointy aggressive headstock guitars such as Jackson, Ibanez or Kramer. It's only him goes nuts in LP.
My dream is to one day be able to play and own one of these beauties, that red one is so nice. Still learning though on a used Epiphone les Paul standard in a nice sunburst. 😀
First, let me say that I realize it is financially difficult for many (if not most) people to be able to afford these guitars or even a regular Les Paul Standard. However, I want to give you a little advice just in case this is the way you think. Many people get caught up in the idea of “I’m not good enough to buy my dream guitar (whatever that might be)”. My advice is that as soon as you can afford your dream guitar(even if you have to save up for months or years) you should buy it. It will likely inspire you to get better. The only exception I would make is if you haven’t been playing long enough to know your personal preferences and what feels the best to you (neck shape, body shape, etc.). Don’t buy it just because you think it looks cool.
charles bolton Your so right. I just bought a new amp that’s a huge upgrade from the crappy practice amps I’ve been playing on. I had it for almost a week and I’m practicing double the time and I sound better. I agree 100 percent
I’m lucky enough to own both , great guitars! always loved the j-45’s to me it’s the best overall acoustic and in the 80’s when everyone and their brother were playing exotic guitars with all kinds of weird and very colorful designs , the baddest mother to ever walk the planet emerged out of nowhere and made it cool to play a Les Paul again we know him as “Slash” ..my idol

I just went to Gibson Garage in Nashville, spent about 4 hours playing different 50’s & 60’ standards, I have a Les Paul Classic but wanted a standard as well……… Never in my life did I think I would buy a Slash series guitar. After looking and playing a bunch of beautiful Gibsons Les Paul’s and not finding the right guitar, one of the salesman hands me a November Burst……it was live at first sight!!! 😂 Saw it and went wow, that’s exactly what I was looking for, put it in my hands and after playing it for 1 minute, I said….THIS IS IT!!! Absolutely awesome guitar!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🫶🏻
@@gibsonguitar I love this guitar! I haven't been this energized about playing in a looong time. It was definitely worth the wait, it plays like a dream!!!
Mine arrived a few days ago. Got the Appetite burst. It's such a beautiful finish and the pickups are really awesome. Plus, the Slash badge is on the back, which I much prefer. Tempted to grab the Vermillion too!
I just bought Jessica and it looks amazing and sounds so good (probably going to take it when slash comes back on european touring and getting it signed)
I hot-rodded a cherry sunburst in the 90s, had the neck shaved down really thin (it was done by Bill Asher, the son of Elizabeth Montgomery from Bewitched, and he was scared we were going too far, but I said, "Don't worry, I know it will work." We also added push-pull pots for Phasing and Series/Parallel because I was trying to copy what I'd read about Jimmy Page's guitars (this was before there was a Jimmy Page Model.) When I chose the pickups, I used the ones Slash used -- Seymour Duncan Alnico II's. That guitar was the greatest thing ever!
November burst is a lot more red/brown than a typical tobacco burst. Its really closer to the faded reddish tobacco burst of the Joe Perry custom shop guitars. Love that original Joe Perry 59. This is a way to get close to that.
He could go door to door and sell a fuq ton of just about anything. Nicest guy ever.... I think he gave Joe Perry back his '59 les Paul many yrs after Joe had sold it during hard times.
Slash has led a resurgence of the Les Paul since the mid-80's. He's earned the right to have his own Slash Collection.

The guy arise as a guitar hero when everyone else was playing the “superstrats”.
I’m a Les Paul lover and probably he’s one of the reasons for this.

When everyone was switching to Jackson, hammer, carvel,Ibanez. The superstars days slash was one of the few playing a lea Paul.
@Marcellino Sananto Slash and Randy Rhoads are one of the reasons why some people would love to have Marshall Amp. Hehehehe
