I did my first one in the 90's. Before the internet and i was too poor to buy a chiltons, haynes manual, etc. all i had was 30 beers and some determination. What a great time!

I have done mine twice in 26 years. 3 hours is what it took me last year! The 86 and earlier are easier than the 87 and up. 4 eye for the win! :)

I did my heater core in about 7 hours... $30 for the heater core. A shop was gonna charge me $800 to do it, so I did it myself.

I love your interior, been thinking of dieing mine. Great job on this as always. Paid for mine to be changed back in 2012, but I think they messed up because I've started smelling some coolant in the core and losing fluid slowly. May be on my to do list. See you on the 4th!

Man you did a great job cutting the evap cover off, most people just butcher it,Ive done a few with a little cutoff wheel, that works great too.
On the Ford shop manual there is a really good write up on how to do this job, they show you how to drill a couple of little holes before cutting the flap then using threaded speaker metal tabs to hold it together while it gets rtv or whatever one chooses to seal it with,i believe they recommend Butyl but Permatex black is killer stuff (so is the gray),i really like it.
I highly recommend to people if they are going to keep the car buying a shop manual on Ebay, the one made by Ford, not Chiltons or anything like that, Ford shop manuals are pure gold.

  • @bobkeller8383

I watched this to see how you take the dash out. The reason is so I can paint my dash. I want to change my interior from grey to black. That looks like a pain. So my question is have you changed the interior color before and have you painted a dash in place rather than removing? Any tips tricks or even a video of such a project would be appreciated. Thank you

Where is the heater control valve located on the fox? I replaced the heater core and everything worked fine. Then one day the I put the heater on and the switch was hard to turn and broke. I put a knew switch and no heat. Must be the heater valve

  • @acmekanik9135

Somehow I didnt remember the vacuum line that penetrates the evap line gasket when I tore everything apart 5 years ago....lol.
I followed the line from the vac plug for the switch inside where it has a little plastic bushing glued on it which is the part that goes into the gasket for the firewall. It doesnt want to fit all the way flush thru the gasket in the engine bay side and I cant remember if it did or not. Now at least I know where everything goes again so its just a matter of replacing/repairing dried out brittle lines and making it all work again. Words of advice: Dont dick around and start putting your car back together 5 years after you tore it apart. Unless you make detailed drawings of how everything went together or took gobs of detailed pics, its a motherfucker figuring it all back out again 5 years later. Maybe if I wasnt 51 and more like 21 or 31 my memory would be better and I wouldnt be having this issue. : P
