    What about the pcv system?

      Good point. It needs to go into the intake so it can be cycled back through the engine

      PCV system was my first thought when I was watching too. I would love to see your take on a catch can system especially for the Calypso clone. Let's do away with plugging up the intakes with sludge.

      @@BREW2LFOXBODY I ran the pcv line to the side of my Holley SM intake and it sucked a lot of oil in. I had to route it to a catch can with a breather. Gutted the pcv valve in the process. I don't recall the lower intake having the splash shield on it, it may have it again not sure, but could or is that the reason of the oil being sucked in the intake? I had a GT40 tubular on it before and routed the line to the intake and it did not do that?

    Those UPR billet vacuum blocks are the bees knees......also for the people asking about the PCV you can go ahead especially on forced induction or engines puttin up some power you can go ahead and get an aluminum billet catch can for venting purposed and oil blow by collection saving it from ending up back in your intake and sucking back into your engine causing long term issues

    Great video man appreciate all the help. The little vacuum line cluster by the firewall on the passenger side is the biggest thing that I'm stumped on. I think one of those goes to the fuel pressure regulator And one went to the EGR valve but I deleted that and there's no suction coming out of that line. Also one of the lines must have been touching something hot because it melted off but nothing seems to be affected. And like you said about the Explorer intake, which I do have, there's a whole bunch of ports underneath that do not seem to even have vacuum.

Keeps too much pressure from pushing the dipstick out, and helps to prevent high pressure gasket leak's, not to mention, it free's up a few Hp!

      They're not hard to make if you want to go that route. I made a ton of them back in the day. Some where round and others like this one. Basically I'd drill out some alum stock,thread the ends for the big nipples in and out to the booster and then drill and tap the bottom for my smaller sources. Lastly I'd polish them since I couldn't anodize them. It's a easy afternoon project with a few beers. Also you can get creative with materials, I did a few crazy ones on rat rods.

    • @BREW2LFOXBODY

      Vacuum becomes boost as long as it an see both you’re good to go.

  • @bryanmichalski175
    @bryanmichalski175 3 года назад

    Vacuum is vacuum and its only found on the inside of the TB. You are off about the wastegate. The turbo is pressuring the whole system at the same time. you see boost at any point at the same time doesn’t matter where you get it from. The only source that matters is the BOV. It needs to be on the inside of the TB because it takes the combo of the engine vacuum pulling when the TB closes to open the BOV and the boost on the turbo side pushing it open. When it comes to wastegate boost reference the only different spots that make a slight difference is before or after the intercooler. Because they are a pinch point and you lose a psi or so on the engine side compared to the turbo side of the inner cooler. So getting the signal from the motor you get actual engine boost opening the gate at whatever psi the gate needs, for example let’s say 10psi. Sourcing it from the turbo before the inner cooler it will see slightly higher boost opening the gate sooner and result in slightly lower boost at the motor. We are only talking about how much psi the inner cooler is inefficient. The turbo side will see 10psi first and open the gate sooner resulting in maybe only seeing 9psi on the motor side.

    idles good at 950(couldn't get the TB to close anymore without getting stuck) and gets 22mpg!

    • @BREW2LFOXBODY
      @BREW2LFOXBODY  3 года назад +3

      The top of the valve cover needs to be hooked up to the throttle body. That’s than active vacuum leak if it’s plugged into the intake. Try that and see it it helps.
