The 35 GM is so optically good it's a great pairing with my A7R3. I've never ever cropped before using this combination. So I shot at 35 but if there's a shot worth cropping to like a 50 I still have that option and it's still sharp and the resolution is still adequate
I pair my A7M4 with 35-150 F2-2.8 as an all-rounder. Yet to own a second cam. But, this video has made me decide to go with a 24mm/20mm on the 2nd body to get those wide shots.
Great video man! I've got the 24, 35, 50 & 85 with two A7 IVs and honestly it's such a great all round kit for weddings. The 35 & 50 GMs are my favourite pairing at the moment
Hello bro i have just started as a wedding photographer i have sony a7 m3 and i have 28-70 f3.5 - 5.6 and now i am a bit confused which lens to buy 35mm/85mm or should i buy tamron 70-180 f2.8 bro can you please suggest??
I love this video as it gives some great perspective on these GM lenses and not just sharpness and the like. I've been looking into getting into wedding photography but it feels like the most intimidating field to enter as a photographer.
I swapped from the Zeiss 35 and 50 as my main pair to the 24gm and 50gm. The 24 is somehow more satisfying to get right compositionally. I also love it for dance floors. I never really enjoyed the rendering of the 50 zeiss. it was just too busy around the edges. I fell in love with the 50gm the first time I rented it when called to shoot a Wilco show while on vacation in Seattle. There was no going back to my Planar after that. I have and love the 50mm summilux fle and 35mm summicron asph, and wish my eyes were more reliable for manual focus, but this current set up feels right, were as the old one felt like a compromise. When I need a little more character I throw on the 55mm 1.8 Zeiss Sonnar. It gives me great color, interesting flares, and its a joy to carry around. My only complaint with sony is that they aren't all that fun to work with. I consider my Sony kit a tool, and my Leica film kit a satisfying daily carry.
I can very highly recommend the Sony set-up that I have, Sony A7RIV, Sony A7RIVA, Sony 14mm 1.8 GM, Sony 24mm 1.4 GM, Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical, Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8, Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm 2.0, Sony 135mm 1.8 GM and Sony 200-600mm 5.6-6.3 G, I use this gear for portrait, street, architecture, macro, nature, wildlife, landscape and more, I wish you all a very nice day.
i already have 24-70 gm and 70-200gm and now just bought 35/1.8 and 85/1.8 ( just for fun to have also some prime lenses); even if i like these prime lenses i'm not sure to drop the 2 amazing zoom lenses, in order to have only prime lenses; but it is tempting for volume and for variation to have only prime lenses...( i forgot to mention that i'm a wedding and street photographer)
Benj, THANK YOU for this video. I know you are a Leica guy at heart BUT it just shows an open mind to dive into sony so thoughtfully (I know it’s sponsored) but Sony cameras and lenses just work. Do a great job and deliver. Not as sexy or as organic as Leica but in the professional realm when clients are watching or time is ticking using sony can really help. I actually had a bit of an argument (discussion) with another RUclipsr who would not acknowledge the Sony sensor inside of the Leica M11 or admit that a Leica lens on a Sony a7RIV can really deliver similar results. I actually started to write YOU!! Mainly because I noticed a SONY camera in one of your videos, decided not to bother you and then saw this video. THANK YOU Benj ! These are all just tools to create phenomenal photos/art. It should never be so emotional that people lose site of the final product. Shooting Leica or Sony or…..doesn’t matter. It just makes sense to acknowledge all of it. Explore, discuss and be open. You are doing a great job sir! Long time Leica and Sony shooter - Michael Neumann One World Productions.
Hey Benj! Great b-roll and impressions of the gear🙌 for the sake of interest: Are you shooting Leica or Sony for your professional work currently? (Or both?) And thanks for also covering stuff other RUclipsrs don’t - like the Voigtländer 35mm for Fuji X. Just bought that lens and it’s sweet 👌 best wishes from Germany, Chris
I’m using all sorts of stuff haha. The A7IV will most likely find a place in my kit this year specifically though. It’s just such a good camera for the money.
sure, it'd be fun but it's SOOOOOO wide that it'd be much more of a limited application for me. I think the 20mm kind of hits that sweet spot for me, but it's all personal preference right?
Hi. I have Sony 85mm 1.4 GM And I need a wide angle lens for wedding photoshoot in hotel room or in studio. Can you help me please to choose ? What kind of lens I should buy ?
Hello! Thanks a lot for your video! I have a question to you. Can modern lenses (I have canon ef 70-200 f4 and Sony 70-200 f4 e-mount) have fungus? I am afraid they will get it
@@greasyflight6609 it’s not a bad lens. It’s the zeiss 50 1.4. So it’s sharp and full featured. But for portraits I just prefer the 35 for full body shots and the 85 for head or waist up shots. My 50 seems redundant to me. But it’s a nice quality lens. I’m an outside shooter. So I have the room. Maybe if I shit portraits indoors I’d have a 24mm and a 50mm
@@sidehustlers336 Thank you. I am a rookie and researching. My daughters wedding is in August. I bought a Sony A7S iii...a 14mm 1.8 GM...Sony 24/105 Zoom...Sony Zeiss 55mm...and another Sony FE 55mm with OSS. I feel like I am missing a 35mm Sony GM and or an 85mm GM. I just blew a small fortune. Two questions. Do I need another lens? ...and does an OSS lens double your shot stability with the inherent camera stabilization? Thanks again!

Great video my dude! Sony is killing the game with all those new prime lenses! 35GM and 50GM is my go-to combo!

Great video. The 35/85 combo is always a classic. As a Canon shooter, I already own the RF 85 1.2. Just waiting on a 35 1.2 to "complete" my setup.

35mm f1.4 or 1.8 and 85mm 1.8. Fantastic combo for wedding
Very cool video bud. I still find I get back from weddings and find 80% of the photos were taken using the 35mm 1.4.

buy the most expensive things. Thanks for the advice, I wouldn't have guessed it myself!

how does a 35-150 tamron fit into the lineup compared to the combos? any experience shooting with that?

waitinng for 28mm f 1.4 from sony
Same
Does these all 4 lenses fit with sony a6000 E mount ?
Yeah they will! They’ll just have a 1.5 crop since the a6000 is an apsc camera!
If you have to get only one which one would it be?
Depends on what other lenses I might have but either the 35/1.4GM or the 50/1.4GM. They’re my most used
Would you like a 14mm GM 1.8 for photography and how would you employ this lens?

I’m believe they can depending on storage and climate.
Great that you’re working w Sony!
What happened to your Leicas bro?
They’re sitting right next to me ;)
So you plan to switch to Sony?
Planning on switching out my Canon stuff for Sony 👀
great video!, probably the first person saying alpha instead of a lol
Sony should have sent some less expensive lenses as well, this video should be called the most expensive wedding lenses lol. Great video though!!
haha those were the lenses I specifically requested as they're my favorites.
Hi, Oslo!
I am all about zoom. I am a solo videographer. So I don't feel like changing lenses a million times
I’d roll with a zoom video as well if I were doing weddings.
do you honestly like the colors they produce? :D
I do! Color science is generally overrated if you’re using raw
*shows G master lenses* These are under valued
...........Benj no :P

I think sony has the most hideous lenses. They are ugly with foams, like they all cost 50 dollars, or they are 100 years old
