He tried to avoid suspicion by staging it, but he actually made himself a prime person by doing it. All they need is some good and "no connection" cops to break the case.

What's faster than cashing in life insurance policies for mom/son. To make it look good, he gets someone to shoot him in the head so it appears his family is being targeted. Mom and son were both shot multiple times. Alex was shot once...a mere superficial wound. He was on a quiet country road when he was shot. Why didn't the shooter make sure he was dead? No one else was around.

The most recent gunshot wound was staged by himself, yes. But No, I don't think he killed his wife and son since they were "brutally" murdered (how "brutally" I don't know). Why be brutal when you just want them dead? And why do it in their own 1700-acre hunting lodge? I think they were killed by someone else as payback for the boating accident of 2019, which perhaps he tried to use his solicitor's connection to white-wash. Perhaps he white-washed the 2015 murder as well.
If you're trying to kill someone you're not going to just shoot them one time and graze their head. I think he shot himself or just cut his head and claimed he was shot.

A superficial wound doesn't require airlifting to the hospital or put you in stable condition. You get stitches or a band-aid and be released. I don't know anything about this but so many people JUMP to the conclusion that he did it. He may have but people are so crazy these days, he may have screwed over the wrong nutball. Just saying.

Plus, they wouldn't have been looking for a gun if the victim stated it was a drive-by. You and I and everyone here aren't privy to the investigative notes, we're just armchair detectives going on gut feelings, which are notoriously unreliable for judging people. All we're saying is the context is suspicious. That much is true.

To cops who aren’t complete corrupt idiots, a self-inflicted gun shot wound, especially to the head, is easy to solve. Now the question is, how corrupt are these small-town cops. For those of us who’ve lived in that area and who know that entire family are, there’s always been something not quite right about them. I’ve never been able to put my finger on it. This adds credence to that feeling.
I read a few news stories. Looked at their family photos. The photos look weird. Everyone is "fake smiling". That doesn't necessarily mean anything, there are other families who fake smile and aren't involved in being murdered (or possibly murdering). But if I had to bet on it, I'd bet the lead fake smiler is also being a fake victim of attempted murder.
What you all remember as kids if you don’t like the look of someone you don’t like them these are an ugly family I think this is what is giving you these feelings if they were handsome you wouldn’t be suspicious. The expression "stinks to high heaven" is indeed a southern expression that is very familiar. I am born and raised in Louisiana. My personal expression I often use is, "the south has too much mouth. They'll eat too much, talk too much, or both". I've worked very hard not to be of either. There are folks I wouldn't reveal the flavor of gum I chew just because shutin up is a foreign concept to them. And when it's time to speak up, it's crickets. Someone is really out to get this family. The whole situation is just awful. If Dynasty was being remade, this maybe it.

He did this to himself, to divert from another heinous crime he committed. He is the sole witness who called 911, twice. Clearly he needed money to repay what he stole from his law firm. And now he hires a PR firm to release a statement and disappears to "rehab".

This sounds like a true crime show I’ve seen before, the father murders the family because of massive financial misfortune and the father does a self inflicted wound as cover up- not critical injury.

This lawyer comes from a prominent family w/ties to local judiciary and law enforcement to the point of possibly undue influence. The death of a young man near his property and the involvement of 1 of his son’s in someone else’s death might have led to some enemies willing to take him and whole family out. All these events seem to tie in together. He should grab his surviving son and disappear.

His son was responsible for a girls death and suspected in the unsolved murder of a young man he knew. He wasn't getting "someone" off, he kept protecting his son from being held accountable. He was a drunk and known to become violent when he drank. It was his position as an attorney that helped his son get away with as much as he did, until he was murdered, along with his mother.

This report is poorly done and confusing to people, judging by the comments. Here's a better summary:
Lawyer (Alex) is a prominent prosecutor and didn't kill anyone. His son Paul was driving a boat drunk with the girl Mallory on board, they crashed and Mallory was killed. Paul was charged with murder (drunk driving), and while waiting for trial he and his mom were murdered. The dad (lawyer Alex) 2 mths later is changing a flat tire and gets shot. It seems those 3 (father, son, mother) were targeted because they're a prominent family and therefore locals worried that the son Paul wouldn't get convicted of drunk driving murder since he has connections. So it seems residents of that area are taking matters into their own hands and shooting them.
