Thanks for the download. This is a fantastic! I do believe Boz Scaggs could sing the phone book and he would sound great! This man cannot give a bad performance. He has the most prolific voice in the world. I love this man sooooo much! Boz RULES!!!
The Boz and Steely Dan were just 2 of the artists that gave me a deeper appreciation of how good some soulful 70s music became a part of my life...Since then, we haven't really seen some decent blues/soul music come around-oh well...
Boz can sing pretty much anything! This is the blues and he does that as good as any of them. He can also sing ballads and songs like Fly L:ike A Bird (don't know what genre that is) but he does it really well. Talented is Boz..
In case you aren't aware, there is a live cd of this band 'The New York Rock 'n' Soul Review', with Michael McDonald, Phoebe Snow, and Eddie Brigatti (Rascals) also guesting. This track is on there, too. Also, Scaggs and McDonald tour with Fagan as The Dukes of September. A show has been/will be filmed for DVD. In the meantime I recommend (highly) Fagan's new CD, 'Sunken Condos'.
Saw this band that summer tour in Mansfield,MA. Maybe the coolest concert of all time.Mushrooms. When Pheobe Snow sang "Poetry Man" I near floated into the purple air. They did a few encores, I remember they did the Beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby" at the end. Awesome night.
When I heard the disc of this show I was so glad I grew up when I did... this was music. I haven't turned the radio on in 15 years!!! These days, why bother?!!!
That was great! I had never seen this before. Being both a Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs fan, this was a great "meeting of the minds" or "playing of the minds" I guess. Two fantastic musicians that you can tell from this performance have a long history of "off stage" friendships it seems. It seems that Boz Scaggs working as a member of Steely Dan or visa-versa would have definitely worked in the late 70's or early 80's. That could have been a SUPER GROUP for sure!
Hey , I have been looking for this! Finally someone posted it! Thanks! I saw The New York R&S Review that year. This was great.

Every time I listen to this great musician he grews on me, no doubt! What a rythm and blues!!! Unfortunately for those of us that are no native speakers, the lyrics are not so clearly and detailedly understood owing to the volume of the band's sound! Nevertheless, great as usual! Thanks for posting!! Cheers from Mexico!
Drew Zing's solo is simply top notch … He's totally got the changes under his belt & blows a la Michael Brecker style, only on guitar … What a great bunch of musicians. Best in the Biz ...
@dmgcat COULDN'T AGREE MORE, STEELY DAN HAD ONE OF THE TIGHTEST BANDS IN THE BUSINESS, AND BOZ WAS ONE AND STILL IS ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMERS
I was at this show Aug 1992 when I was 20...I have to admit I appreciate it more now than I did then. It seemed like a lot of instrumental annoying stuff in addition to the good stuff and seemed to drag on and on.
At 0:04 he says "This is a Gamble and Huff tune...this is local stuff..." I thought they were New York Rock and Soul Revue because I think G and H are from Philadelphia...?
Very nice performance! Nice guitar solo too! Video is is so bad that my eyes can't tell me what my ears are telling me about who's playing it. On top of that, I think he's wearing shades or something, but it sure sounds to me like Robben Ford. 2:16 in the timeline. It almost absolutely has to be him! Anyone confirm this to be true?
It's actually after 2:20 in the video that a backup guitarist plays his solo (Is it Robben Ford? I'm not that familiar with his guitar play--Sorry Eric!)
I enjoyed Drew Zing's super fast jazzy scale playing solo's on a lot of the other stuff that night but he seemed lost on this one. ha Not trying to be smart ass. Someone should've took their sweet time with that one though.

整體ㄓ😅但
i bought the cassette (!) of this 1992 revue . remains one of my go-tos on spotify.
They sound fabulous, great music, great sound mix, you can always hear the great backup singers.
I saw this show! How cool is that?
Wow.
I actually remember this.
Had the good fortune to see both these amazing musicians! Now I get to see them perform together:)
This clip has been a favorite for a long time. Drew Zing on lead guitar just incredible as always.
when I first heard this song I loved Boz
This is what music should sound like when it's played and performed by top shelf master musicians.

Sweet!!! Lovely aggressive blues that take the soul on the jumping train of dreams...

I do loves me some Dan and Boz Scaggs!

colaboration of boz and donald on this song is fantastic, yea, they should have done more together, would have been a supergroup for sure
I like this version.

Fagen and Skaggs together=awesome and favorited of course!(Mikey, who still has an old comment showing from 4 months ago LOL)
39 haters after all this time doesn't make me feel better though. :-(

Drew Zingg is the man! Check out his solos on "Pretzel Logic" on this page. Also with the NY Rock and Soul Revue. Unbelievable!
You're right. This was from the Philly show. I saw them at Jones Beach and Becker was with them at that show as well.
I saw this show in 92. It was amazing. I think it was before Fagan decided to your as Steely Dan again. Michael McDonald was also there.
You seem like a person who knows how to get the most out of an evening! Kudos. Your description made me wish I had been there.
I think this is in philly,(Gamble and Huff comment)I was there! damn.
Walter becker showed up as a guest guitarist!
The version of, 'Lonely Teardrops' from the 'Leaving Las Vegas' movie is the cut from the NYR&SR album.
Where everyone would love to drown, but now its gone they say it doesn't matter any more but when you build your house i'll come by.
@dmgcat COULDN'T AGREE MORE, STEELY DAN HAD ONE OF THE TIGHTEST BANDS IN THE BUSINESS, AND BOZ WAS ONE AND STILL IS ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMERS
was there.... michael mcdonald, phoebe snow.. boz, steely dan... countless others....
This is the only song I really cared for on the NYS&R CD.
If Boz had been in Steely Dan, what a group that would have been, and their concerts would have sold out in minutes!!!
Ron Beretta they did anyway.

Drew zing is the man!
This show is from the Beacon Theater in NY, Not Philly. Best song that you will ever hear.
yup
this is Yes
i was also at the jones beach show, anyone knows where
to find footage of the complete show?
At 0:04 he says "This is a Gamble and Huff tune...this is local stuff..." I thought they were New York Rock and Soul Revue because I think G and H are from Philadelphia...?

joe simon performed the original, check it out!
hey does anyone know the drummer? nice groove
I liked it a lot actually, I don't tend to like super fast stuff
They closed with "My Old School"
I believe Fagen took vocals on this for some of their first shows, then Boz wanted it.
I enjoyed Drew Zing's super fast jazzy scale playing solo's on a lot of the other stuff that night but he seemed lost on this one. ha
Not trying to be smart ass. Someone should've took their sweet time with that one though.
Dennis McDermott, drums;
Drew Zingg on guitar?
The BEST...saw him in 93 w/the Steeley Dan @ Rosaland Ballroom NYC..Blew me away ....
y si..suena horrible espantoso! pero los amo a los dos!
Dd:)
they did sell out in minutes.nice song but the Dan didn`t need no Boz
