And of those even listening, how much of an audience will they find in 15 - 20 years? I'd say those of us who know and appreciate this music have been blessed. I don't enjoy sounding like an old fart, but I'm hard pressed to find any modern music of this high level of craft and soul.

@@Ruellibilly Thanks, I have, they're amazing. Really good stuff. I stumbled across them a while ago, but haven't followed them too closely. See my "old fart" comment above. But it also sort of confirms what I said. There are definitely folks putting out great music, but where's their audience? It all seems very niche, something people have to go out and find. And I get it, Pop music is not always going to be the place to look for serious musicianship, but lately it just sounds like a wasteland.
A few good songs pop up occasionally, but there ain't much quality overall. I mean, Steely Dan, The Allman Brothers, The Stones, The Beatles(!), etc. etc. There was some craftsmanship happening. Bands are hard, I know. But the reliance on producers for beats for artists to rap over is killing me. Maybe my radio is broken, but Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion just isn't doing it for me.

Let's not knock those "guitar gods" just because there are other great guitarists out there that are least known to the general public. The problem is not them, the problem is the ignorant public that won't listen to anything that is not mainstream. And no, there are no guitar players that play circles around the "guitar gods" if by guitar gods you are referring to the likes of Hendrix, SRV, Clapton, Page, Beck, Blackmore, Gilmour, Santana, Young, Iommi, Moore, Allman, EVH..........
Let me name you a few that are less known to the masses but ARE guitar gods in their own right or could have been at that level had it not been for misfortune or not being in a more popular band/music genre.

This is excellent all around. Someone point me to some new music with the gravitas of this vintage gold. I miss the music of the seventies, not in that I can not still listen to tons of stuff I missed that is great, but there seems a huge void in the post 2000's landscape for that magic.

Jon was passing through Indiana for one year in 1981-82. Took a part time gig teaching guitar at Anderson College where I was studying guitar performance. To have him as a private instructor for one year is still one of the most humbling and blessed experiences I’ve ever had! He was a gifted teacher and his playing left us speechless! So happy for his success through the years. We’ll deserved!

I had been trying to figure out the solo on "Fingers burned" by Alan Parsons...on Eye in the Sky by Iairn Bairnson...which is tricky...Frank had never heard it, listened to it once and played it note perfect back to me...and taught me how to play it...I am still not quite there.....25 years later!
