Do many realise how many guitar parts and solos Jon Herington masters for these songs, and how many different hot guitarists from the recordings he is emulating? He's amazing. Then to have Boz Scaggs providing rhythm and counterpoint to Jon. Such good performances.

Session guitarists are the most talented, can play anything and make a ton of money doing it for anyone and everyone. Probably why Jon declined to join Steely Dan preferring to be a non contract free agent. Fagen is talented but he sure hit some clinkers in this song.
If you listen to the recording from Gaucho on headphones that had to be John plinking and fooling around in the left ear. I listen just to his playing.
@@c.e.anderson558 That's most certainly not lol, it's a combo of Walter Becker and legendary session guitarist Hugh McCracken on the studio version of 'Hey Nineteen'. I love Herington but he didn't start doing session dates until at least '85
