Can we talk about that drummer? Wow he is absolutely killing it on all the songs the Dukes play.
Shannon Forrest. Super-underrated drummer and unabashed Jeff Porcaro worshipper.
Saw them at Pine knob aka. DTE. The talent was Worth the price of admission. God bless.
What a sensational drummer. Kills it with Toto!!
The drummer's terrific. This band doesn't do what it does without a killer drummer. And can we acknowledge how many killer drummer's there are in the world? In our world. We are truly blessed.
Shannon is as gifted as it gets on drums
Michael could be Minister of Music in ANY Missionary Baptist church in the USA.
Fact
😂TRUTH!
Omg yeeeesssss 🙏🏽🙌🏽👣💯✌🏽👏🏽
Michael McDonald is a National Treasure he is the king of Blue-Eyed Soul
OMG yeeeesssss 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤❤🙏🏽👏🏽✌🏽💯🙌🏽😊
Takin’ them to church! I sang in a gospel choir for over a decade. No one ever wanted to go onstage after us.
That intro. I teared up when Mikes vocals started.
“You don’t know me but I’m your brother”
Same here man
This song made me start to tear up, The talent of these musicians is phenomenal, When that Lady started singing it was more than I could bare, Took me over the top!!! Goodness Sakes.
You aint alone my brother!
"That lady" is Monet Owens, and it's a travesty that they didn't include her name in the title or the description.
@@aimelilithe Zip it, 3rd worlder. If you had bought this DVD set or seen it all, you'd know that Donald Fagen introduced her when he went through naming the band. She's a backing singer that was unfortunately given a moment in the spotlight, ruining it for me. There is tons of talent worth mentioning before her but you dont see anyone else crying about it, do you? It's always some crybaby woman wanting more than everyone else. Go play with rope.
Ms. Monet didn't take it to the street, she took it over the top. There is such a thing as too much "soul". I can understand the
desire for a gospel sound but sometimes it's taken too far. The tune, the band, you couldn't ask for more.
Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way! I teared up too! This is music for the SOUL! Peace, Blessings, and Love to All Y'all ! 🙏🏽♥️
What a display of humility! For one of the most iconic male vocalists of the last 50 years to share the spotlight with a lady singer...WOW!! And of course, she killed it
No
@@captainamerica1797 How dare you disagree with me!
Good stuff with honest energy. She is on fire with energy too.
What a great voice. You can't mistake him for anyone else on earth.
No,he can't be mistaken!
Amazing pianist too.
You call that a voice?? Sounds more like a bull that just got de-nutted! What were these two living legends thinking to even allow this wannabe on the same stage with them? The guy is a joke and has been from day one! Please, sir, do us all a favor and just disappear. For good!
@@markmaurer5977 ruclips.net/video/U0B6nxPfcCM/видео.html
@@markmaurer5977 Let’s hear your songs/singing.
Let's do church! Michael McDonald still has it! What a soulful and blessed voice.
I'd be honored if some late 70s/early 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES by Michael McDonald, HOME AT LAST by Steely Dan, and WE'RE ALL ALONE by Boz Scaggs on my YT channel in tribute to the masters of groove. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and keep on grooving.
Amen
Preach! You will find your brother everywhere...
Amen to that!🙏🏽
He still gas it !
Such a distinctive voice
Going to see Doobies in GR Mi soon
Can’t wait !!!!
What a cracking drummer. Knows how to respect these guys. Very subtle.
That's Shannon Forrest. Now with Toto. Clearly a killer.
Yeah, this cat is a monster! Very tasty and in the pocket. Saw him twice with Steely Dan. Sweet. He can play in my band anytime 😁😉😉
Agreed. He is a pro for sure.
@@snidelywhiplash thought it was Keith Carlock as it it basically Steely dan touring lineup
@@snidelywhiplash Absolutely. The guy is a freakin' monster!! I like this type of subtlety, complete with musicality and chops (and Shannon has them all!).
This lady started her career in a church choir, God Bless
That drummer never missed a note on any of these songs..im in church
I am in tears right now. It's time to reach out and love one another. We need it now more than ever.
It all starts with respect. Not me, but we.
@@claudedupras2492 Amen to that.
As a 60's child, I'm in tears. The division and hate we are witnessing today is unbearable 😢
Exactly I was just gonna say I hope people are absorbing the lyrics
If you've never seen Michael in concert, it's worth every penny.
Vail 1988 was interstellar. Michael killed it, then he killed it again.
The pipes on that lady ❤️❤️❤️!!
Absolutely.... Who is she ?.... totally knocked it out of the park !!!
@@thedr.feelgood Monet Owens.
Crazy!!
Shanon Forrest is the drummer
Deep ass groove
I’ve been lucky to record with him a bunch of times in Nashville.
Not surprised to see him in such stellar company.
he is indeed a star percussionist. thnx for calling out his name.
Steely drummer too after Keith . Both superb I like Keith w steely better and Shannon is absolutely perfect for The Dukes.
He has also been a drummer of Toto within the past 10 years or so.
Deep ass groove? Yes. Holy Moly....
Yeah man I also noticed that he does a terrific job here!
God my generation had the BEST music ever and guess what? We knew it then !!!
Absolutely. We were spoiled for choice and choice, I may add, of quality music, musicians and bands.
Sax player is devastating but that female vocal.....wow unbelievable power girl got serious chops!!!!!!😱😱🤯🤯🤯
At first I thought this was Doobie Brothers and I felt like as if I was back in church for the Sunday morning service. What a stunning piece of music this is.
The whole band is just awesome!!! What a great line up!
Minister of music, Michael McDonald!!!!
No doubt, taken us to church!
Don't forget the outstanding drummer...!
Shannon Forrest .. nearest to JP a human can get
Amen to that...!
That girl has got some serious pipes. Awesome.....
Amazing how all three of these guys retain their great voices...
So Dukes of September means they're in the autumn of their lives? They definitely can sing and play.
That lady makes me want to go to church!!!!!!!
+Weezer VanTrout GREAT COMMENT!
She's amazing.
yummy
lmao
That lady is Miss Monet. She's amazing!
Michael is the voice of a generation!
I played his music all the way down to the Outer Banks back in the early 70's.
Conesha Owens, aka "Miss Monet".
That is the name of the miraculous singer on this number.
(With a specal "Grrrrrrr" to the person who thought he had written the credits properly)
From the frontliners to the whole band, a masterpiece.
WOW!!!! I love Michael's voice... but that lady's knocking it out of the park!
Piano intro from hell-I feel the power of the holy spirit!
Or from heaven??
Yeah this whole deal 👍🤩
Michael inventing a whole new time signature.
Oh,the good ole 70s, great great music! Will never return!😢
Unreal, I am am just discovering this concert now and am speechless.
I didn't know this existed. All of my favorite players and voices together. I LOVE IT!
That's all you've got? Sad
Check out Darryl's House, awsome also!
This was a fantastic PBS Great Performances concert at Lincoln Center. We made a donation and were lucky enough to reserve seats as a result.
I didn't either. This is the best compliation of artists! :-)
Best of the best ... can you even imagine a concert!!!
Never underrated him, it was amazing what he did with the Doobie brothers, playing and vocals!
I remember when he released this with the Doobie Brothers. Still just as good! Nice to hear this sister helping out on the vocals. She can really bring it!

Back vocals is absolutely brilliant
Jesus! This song made my day! I went to a real Baptist church!
This dude is a total STUD.........never fails in his performance.......wish I was as good at my gig.......
This is just some damn fine American music.
He's brilliant! What happened to all the Old School music, I'm still loving it ! 😃❤️❤️❤️
Sadly it got pushed aside for Rap.
It's wonderful to see Michael McDonald still singing the classics of the Doobbie Brothers. When l was a kid and young teenager l would listen to their music on the radio. The Doobie Brothers along with Michael McDonald were as soulful with their music that made a crossover into R&B as well as Pop culture. They were pioneers of producing great music that touch many people diverse cultures 🎶 🎶 🎵 🎶
I was at this show! What a great night of fabulous music with incredibly talented players

Sounds like a revival in a black church... quite incredible.
This is the video that explains why black people love magic michael.
Yep, even black folks say 'Damn Michael's got soul'
@@luckyvet Real authentic soul.
Everyone likes MM
Mike McDonald can do concerts for the rest of his life based on a half a dozen good songs
Half a dozen GREAT songs.
He’s been part of more than 6 great songs
This is PHENOMENAL! Michael McDonald you still got it!
Amen, brothers and sister!!!!! Let's all take it to the streets, with MIchael, Boz, and Donald!!!
Back when I was 10 or 11 I would cut Aunt Glacis lawn it was a big one too. She would always give me five dollars and tell me her nephew had a band and asked me if I had heard of him. She said his name was Boz. Her name was Scaggs.
Let’s go out dancing in the streets, even this year 2022!
AT 1:29 someone yells out, "HALLELUJAH!" Precious. He was taken to church by this intro.
A fried pork chop with a bone in it, gravy, buttered string beans, moist biscuits, and some red soda water and do not forget the potato salad with just hint of mustard. That is what this song is...fulfilling in every way!
I love Michael. When the sister sang, i got goosebumps. Damn, shes amazing!
Who was that woman at the end....what a set of pipes!! wow!
Blessings to everyone who has been in 2020!!! Make it count!! MAKE A CHANGE!
Wow that young lady is truly incredible. What a talent. Of course Michael is a legend.
only discovered this now, man that drummer has some groove....
thats fo sho!
Shannon Forrest! The guy is starting to build up a resume' like Jeff Porcaro had back in the day. That said, he was their touring drummer for the past couple years as well.
Love the introduction of the song on the piano, especially. Your lady who sings with you in your song, she did outstanding work.
...Ok...Love ...love LOVE This .....great men...Songs of my youth ....66yrs old now.....40 yrs ago ...I was Some-thing.....Old Guy now in Oregon ....9/2018

Goosebumps here!!!!! serious soulful singers here....Blessings to them!
That harmonica is super underrated
Mr. Michael McDonald the original Blue Eye soul💕👏🤗🎶
It was 1982 and the Doobie Brothers were on their “farewell“ tour. I worked in a health food store directly across the street from the Allentown, Pennsylvania Hilton, which Doobie Brothers had rented the top two floors of. Well, who should come walking into the health food store, but the whole band, including Michael McDonald Saying that they wanted to buy some drinks to take with them on the road for their next gig and Washington DC. Needles to say one of the high points of my life! I got to shake Michael’s hand as well as the other boys in the band. I will never forget it. The only other major unforgettable experience regarding rock legends was when I got to ride in a limo with Deep Purple, but that’s another story for another time. :-). Peace.
What a concert! Such an event! Lucky people that got to hear it live!
one we were born to b e...... were we.... one you saw us as... perfect we tried to b e... by ones raising us..... that find of us for each other......
The talent on display here is beyond awesome...
They went HOME with THIS one!
You forget what a great player Mr. McDonald is.
Great live version.
I still remember the first time I heard this song.
I was floored and I still am.
Man, he went straight Gospel with it.........come ON, somebody!!! lol
That is a one in a million voice! The beautiful lady is awesome too!
Every time I see a recent video of Mr. McD....he reminds me of my brother, Kerry, and it makes me miss Kerry so so so much more....they look almost identical....thank you Michael, for your wonderful music.....I wish you would write a song to help a sister and her brother to make up....it would be a BIG winner!!! I miss Kerry more than he knows...I am old, I am living in a retirement place, and I haven't seen him for well over a year...and I don't know why....I do know he's alive and working....I just miss him....he and I used to listen to all the music back in 'our' day....thank you Michael....you were kind to me when I met you back in the 70s...
+Meri Jewett hello sister. we are all related and i feel your pain. i hope kerry realizes how much he is loved. stay strong.

Meri Jewett h
Well, Meri Jewett, if your bro has anything resembling Michael M. let us chat but really - what matters is that you are so conscientious and I hope he writes you a song. If he doesn't I will. Yours truly, Ann.
I didn't know they existed together! This is amazing!
