Isolating the near side arm changed everything with my ability to control, obviously you can’t be over the hips and isolating the near side arm at the same time . Once you settle in side control initially , focus on the hips. After they try to bridge you off unsuccessfully two or three times they will slow down then you transition to the near side arm and look to either go to mount or set up an attack
Hey jordan, thanks for the tips. I'm a judo guy, and strangely enough in this position i can't prevent my opponent, especially bigger guys, from turning the other side (not towards me). I know that when this happens i can take the back, and i usually do, but i want to learn how to maintain the position. Is there something that i should be doing but i'm not doing? I know it's hard without a video, but still i wanted to try and ask you. Thank you very much
Tip #1 - If you can't get a cross face or underhook and he starts to tilt over you go to knee on belly. Tip #2 - Get a deep cross face and push them into you. Tip #3 - Isolate the far arm to prevent underhooks and have better control. Tip #4 - Isolate the near side arm, using your knee to go under/over the arm. Tip #5 - Stay heavy on the hips and tilt them to prevent reguarding.

Ordered this and just starting and it's a great course. Really good for beginners since it's more on the conceptual level.
Can't wait to get mine!

This is a great video, Seriously although its 5 tips. its actually more, because its also showing you wat you should do while on bottom
I always have problems with the near side arm. Its very hard to separate the near side arm from the body.
I was looking for how to escape side control and you just thwarted my plans 😭
😅 Need to film a reel on escapes as well!
Think of it like a laffy taffy with both ends bending away from you.
The one thing I have noticed in 5 years of training is, the more tattoos you have, the better you become
You've written this on three separate videos lol.
Yes. I am joking around.
I like it
