It's kind of crazy that a lot of coaches don't explain how the pressure of the choke actually works, and why it works, like what part of the neck you need to apply pressure to, with what part of your body, and how. I started watching your videos like a month ago after my first 3 sessions of bjj and i already got my first taps after 5-6 sessions, I learn a lot thanks to you ! You"re the man

It’s funny. I’m a relatively new purple belt here. I’m 43, 5’5” at around 165. I recently started teaching and instructing around a yr ago. I had meniscus surgery about 6 weeks ago. So I have been training with a “dead” leg and starting all opponents in top side control. I having been discovering these exact submissions during low leg mobility and switch from a darce, to anaconda. I have also been slipping into the gelatins. It’s the same thing here just from the bottom position. Awesome videos. Thanks.

There were 511 UFC fights in 2022. 97 ended with a submission. That’s 19%, nearly 1 in 5 fights end in a submission. Of the 97 submissions, over 80 were a choke of some sort, Guillotines, RNC, Arm-Triangles, D’arces, Anacondas, etc…. The choke is king.

  • @ed1726
    @ed1726 Год назад

I've been taught that the arm in guillotine should target the trachea. I am not saying the instructor was right - but I'd like to know why you prefer the blood choke over the trachea? Obviously I get it from a point of view of safe training rolls, but in addition to that is there a competition reason (or any other reason) to not target the trachea? For example if you can't quite hit the blood choke would you ever go for the trachea? Or would you just move to something else at that point.

    • @JordanTeachesJiujitsu
      @JordanTeachesJiujitsu  Год назад +1

I'd never target the trachea. A blood choke is not just safer but also more effective. If you have proper choking mechanics that is. Sometimes people feel mine and they can't beleive how quickly they start getting put out. They've never felt chokes so tight. I don't say that to brag but rather to highlight how important these mechanics are.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 🤼‍♂️ *Front Headlock Choke System*
    - D'arce, Anaconda, and Arm-In Guillotine form a choke system.
    - These chokes are used based on preference and opponent's reactions.
    - All three chokes start from the front headlock position.
01:22 🧊 *Choking Mechanics for Clean Chokes*
    - Proper choking mechanics are crucial for clean chokes.
    - Key elements include choke bite, elbow positioning, and rotational pressure.
    - The goal is to achieve a choke without a neck crank.
    03:36 🧪 *Common Finishing Mechanics*
    - D'arce, Anaconda, and Arm-In Guillotine share the same finishing mechanics.
    - Focus on the soft part of the neck for effective chokes.
    - Proper elbow positioning and rotational pressure are essential.
    04:42 🏄‍♂️ *Entering the D'arce Choke*
    - Transition from the standard front headlock to the D'arce.
    - Utilize a quarter Nelson to take your opponent to the side.
    - Maintain proper elbow positioning and rotational pressure.
    06:10 🤸‍♂️ *Alternative D'arce Entries*
    - Explore options like Belly Up D'arce when the opponent flips onto their back.
    - Keep opponents off their knees for effective D'arce finishes.
    - Adapt to various positions based on your preference and opponent's reactions.
    07:47 🧙‍♂️ *Mastering Rotational Pressure*
    - Neon belly is an excellent position for mastering rotational pressure.
    - Maintain proper elbow positioning and use it in different situations.
    - Choose the path of least resistance for your chokes.
09:00 🥤 *Sponsored Message: Electrolyte Drink*
    - Introducing Element, an electrolyte drink mix for athletes.
    - Electrolytes help prevent muscle cramps and fatigue during training.
09:59 🐍 *Mechanics of the Anaconda Choke*
    - Proper elbow positioning is vital for the Anaconda choke.
    - Focus on the soft part of the neck, not the armpit.
    - Use rotational pressure to secure the choke.
    11:14 🧊 *Arm-In Guillotine Mechanics*
    - Learn the mechanics of the arm-in Guillotine.
    - Grip hand over hand with wrist positioned correctly.
    - Apply rotational pressure for an effective choke.
12:48 🦵 *Guard Position for Guillotine*
    - Maintain a position that prevents your opponent from passing your guard.
    - Transition to the inverted front headlock or mounted arming Guillotine when needed.
    - Keep opponents off their back for better choke control.
14:26 🤼‍♂️ *Entries into the Front Headlock*
    - Various entries into the front headlock, including rolling front headlock.
    - Exploit opportunities when opponents have underhooks or lead with their head.
    - Adapt to opponent's actions and capitalize on poor neck protection.
