It's kind of crazy that a lot of coaches don't explain how the pressure of the choke actually works, and why it works, like what part of the neck you need to apply pressure to, with what part of your body, and how. I started watching your videos like a month ago after my first 3 sessions of bjj and i already got my first taps after 5-6 sessions, I learn a lot thanks to you ! You"re the man
This so much. There are black belts and there are black belts. Unfortunately we all have to work with what we get. So really appreciate these videos @@JordanTeachesJiujitsu
Such a good teacher. The scissor analogy has been a game changer to my chokes. The soft part of the neck rather than the hard part of the neck is a lightbulb moment. Keep it up Jordan. Cant believe this is free content
Thanks man! I probably spend more time on one video than most do on a whole instructional tbh. Always happy to give back to the community and make it easier to learn BJJ than it was when I was learning 🙂
I went from discounting arm triangles to them being my favorite submission, and now the guillotine which I used to almost never use is one of my favorites. All because of your videos! They're the best
Hello Sen Jordan.. I’m from Mexico and I really liked this video. For now I’m very interested on this kind of locks 🙏🏼 I’m grateful for this quality info
It’s funny. I’m a relatively new purple belt here. I’m 43, 5’5” at around 165. I recently started teaching and instructing around a yr ago. I had meniscus surgery about 6 weeks ago. So I have been training with a “dead” leg and starting all opponents in top side control. I having been discovering these exact submissions during low leg mobility and switch from a darce, to anaconda. I have also been slipping into the gelatins. It’s the same thing here just from the bottom position. Awesome videos. Thanks.
Just hit a d'arce tonight after so long thanks to your advice. Gonna force myself to do more guillotines so I can finally stop saying I don't know how to do em
There were 511 UFC fights in 2022. 97 ended with a submission. That’s 19%, nearly 1 in 5 fights end in a submission. Of the 97 submissions, over 80 were a choke of some sort, Guillotines, RNC, Arm-Triangles, D’arces, Anacondas, etc…. The choke is king. Thank you!
As always Jordan thank you for an amazing video that goes above and beyond. I only wish you could make it to Mississippi one day for a seminar. Your teachings are life changing brother.
Great video! I personally love the Darce. It's easily one of my favorites to go for. I'm still learning though, and have both been cranked by these and (I'm sorry to admit) done the cranking. I'll definitely be implementing these ideas!
thanks so much for the video man! I’ve been struggling with these mechanics, no ones ever told me the tips about having a shallow grip to get the carotid artery. I was wondering why i was squeezing so hard but no tap!😂 Thanks!!
I am a white belt with 8 classes only. Once a week kinda dude. I am going to secretly watch all of Jordan’s videos.. I can’t wait to try them and then get humbled by the blue and purple belts 😂
I've been taught that the arm in guillotine should target the trachea. I am not saying the instructor was right - but I'd like to know why you prefer the blood choke over the trachea? Obviously I get it from a point of view of safe training rolls, but in addition to that is there a competition reason (or any other reason) to not target the trachea? For example if you can't quite hit the blood choke would you ever go for the trachea? Or would you just move to something else at that point.
I'd never target the trachea. A blood choke is not just safer but also more effective. If you have proper choking mechanics that is. Sometimes people feel mine and they can't beleive how quickly they start getting put out. They've never felt chokes so tight. I don't say that to brag but rather to highlight how important these mechanics are.
There’s this guy at my gym that I can’t seem to anaconda choke or it’s really difficult to do so. While with other people they tap to it. Could it be that I’m in consistent with the correct technique or is it something weird with their necks
Thanks man! The videos take me longer and longer to make nowadays. I'm really grateful to have sponsors to be able to devote so much time to the videos and be compensated for it 🙂
🤯 HOW IS THIS AMAZING CONTENT FREE?!?!? Front chokes are my fave, and I've watched Jordan's OG D'Arce vid a million times. This vid expands on that ssooo well. Love the arm-in guilly details (it's my favorite choke), and I love how you explain the entries, as that's the part I struggle with the most during rolls. Thank you for this content, bruh! You makin' me more dangerous 🐍
Haha thank you!! This video actually started out as me just now wanting to redo that old video quick. Figured it would take only a day or so. Then I figured I might as well make a full front head lock video. Took forever to make but worth it 🙏
If your first video on darces and anacondas was gold, this video is PLATINUM. So much detail, so much rewatchability, and so many reasons to share it with my training partners. Absolutely love it. Thank you for the lessons🙏🙏🙏👊
It seems most Jiu Jitsu content on social media is shortening people's attention span, and subsequently creating an impulse for flashy sequences at the expense of substantive understanding. Thanks for elaborating on this problem mentioned in your most recent Talk-Jitsu podcast with a solution.
Thanks man! Case on point is this video not performing well lol. My fault for making it 17 minutes but I knew the ones who would watch it would appreciate the depth 🙏
Me and my kids have been watching Jordan for about a year. He’s a blessing for RUclips and we’re grateful to have his library to pick a blackbelts mind. Thank you.
I have been training for nearly a decade and you're the first I've seen to cover how to properly ensure a darce choke is tight by pulling the elbow back under the armpit to close off the space and be in correct alignment. Myself and so many I know have struggled wondering why it's so hard to finish a darce. Well, now I know what I've been doing wrong! Thank you for your awesome videos!
The first time I learned guillotines as a white belt, I thought I was getting strep throat a few days later. Eventually, when no other symptoms arrived, I realized that I just had a bruised throat from getting guillotined so many times 😂
The guillotine was the 1st choke i actually learnt as a white belt and got a few taps out of it. The second was the D'arce. Tbh, now that i've learnt a lot more submissions, i have never hit a guillotine since 😥

Hey Jordan, I was wondering about what blocks off the second carotid artery in the arm in guillotine? Love these conceptual videos

@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Thanks for the reply. That makes a lot of sense to me.
With the arm in guillotine do you want to keep elbows tight at the same time pulling up to close up the space or is this counterintuitive.
Nice
Jordan do you think you can compete against Gordon Ryan if so that be cool to know
My competive nature and ego wants to say yes but in reality he's too big/strong. I'd love to see how I stack up against a natty Gordon Ryan.

Likely inconsistent with your elbow positioning. Possibly he has a big upper body too which can make it harder to get enough pressure.
