I loved your reaction. I was a boy soprano who could sing a full octave higher in church than I could sing in school. I still don't understand that. My voice changed at 12, so before this very sweet young boy's. I pursued singing through high school and college including voice lessons and voice classes. I had seen an earlier version of Malakai's recording and thought "what beautiful vowels". So nice to hear your commentary on the same.
I found a lot of common thoughts with your comments and appreciate how skilled your voice is as you demonstrated your comments. Not easy to do as adult males.
Anyway, I'm a fan and will look for more from you.

Of all the child singers that have sung classical music on BGT and AGT, this is the one that seems to have what it takes to become an opera singer. It's not just the voice, but what he seems to be able to do with it. I know opera people will quibble with the inconsistency of breath control at moments, but he's only thirteen, and part of that may be the first evidence of an inevitable voice change. Thank heavens he didn't live during the time of the castrati, because others would have seen to it he would have lost his manhood to preserve his pristine voice. What he can do far outweighs so much what he can't do yet. It will be interesting to see what happens when his voice changes which seems to be already happening. Will he continue as a sopranist/counter tenor, or as a baritone or tenor, or even a bass. In any case, I wish him the best. He will prove those people who booed him in London idiots. I will be following his career with interest. When we take young singers into our program he has many things we look for.

I agree with everything in your analysis! This is the first kid singer I’ve seen on a got talent show with actual talent. His tone is fantastic, his technique is excellent, he has great musicianship, and he’s singing something that is appropriate for his age and voice. You can tell he’s actually engaged in what he’s singing and understands the translation of the Latin. I wish got talent featured more people like him who really highlight the beauty and virtuosity of classical music rather than kids just emulating a sound they don’t understand. while i wholeheartedly agree that this boy is AMAZING, i think it’s important that with classical singing (especially operatic) to ensure young people are not pushed to an extent where they can damage their bodies. i’ve learnt this lesson all too well, and (not that this is the case for this boy) we don’t push past the threshold of healthy vocal technique. either way, kudos to him he nailed it!

Because of your video I was moved to find the English lyrics to Pie Jesu. Your analysis made me aware of what made this performance such a marvel. I regularly seek out your videos because I gain a deeper understanding of the artistry of singing. I used to think that a singer just opened their mouth and the music poured out.

Jaron you are a breath of fresh air!! Malakai's auditon was one of my favourites. He made singing look sooo effortless. I'm 100% tone deaf. I'd clear a room if I started to sing. You explained his technique so eloquently. Even I understood what you meant. You also have a Beautiful voice. 1st time watching you and now a new subscriber. Thank you 👍😁🇬🇧👏
