Almost a decade since the cancellation. I was 5 when I first played Legends in 1998. It was one of my first games I had ever played. I hold so many emotions when I think about all the fun I had playing these games. Legends had so much charm and love put into it. I have so many fond memories of adventuring Kattelox Island. Legends 2 had such a rich world behind it. So many unique characters and a genuinely intriguing plot. One of the best if not the best looking game on the original Playstation. I was 17 when Legends 3 was announced. I will be 27 in April. I still tear up thinking about this
With Capcom going back to Megaman by making Megaman 11(which was very successful) two years ago that leaves me hopeful that they'll decide to revive Megaman Legends 3 soon enough.
Capcom cancelled other finished Mega Man games (Mega Man Universe) along with Mega Man Legends 3. Capcom seemingly cancelled the games out of spite because of Inafune's departure. It was like us fans were the children in a Japanese divorce. ( ._.) ...Feelsbad Man.
...Mega Man Universe seemed hardly finished at all. Unless you consider the rough art style and implied level creator\character customization features as something worthy of retail when the game itself looked horribly barren. "Ryu? Arthur? The hell is this game supposed to be?"
Incredible documentary, Legends is my Favorite series of all Time! i Hope one day Capcom open their eyes and see how Incredible and ambicious this project was and turn it on again!
Ima be honest though, while it was a good system over all...i bought one too with the intent of getting MML3 on release. It was a system seller. Its not as much as the 3DS was a terrible system but more of the fact that the game was promised and the removal of said system selling game in such a rough manner by Capcom is what creates the level of distrust/pain. Personally speaking, this was THE game i wanted. I would trade all my 3DS games for this game if i had to choose because i was looking forward to this game that much.
A lot has happened these last 4 years. Megaman got revived with 11, Resident Evil 2 and 3 finally got remakes, Devil May Cry 5 happened. Outside capcom, Sonic Mania was amazing (crazy enough that it was made by fan modders), Bloodstained was a pretty good spiritual successor to Castlevania and while I'm not familiar with the series, Shenmue 3 exists. 20 years since Legends 2, 9 years after the cancellation of Legends 3DS. I think it's time Megaman Legends 3 to finally shine, whether it's kickstarted or gets screamed into existence by fan support, it just needs to happen! >:V
I grew up with Legends 1 and 2, it's an absolute shame the way things turned out for the third game. Thank you for the video it really cleared things up and explained what happened for the most part.
Sure thing, we're glad that you found it informative! It's really impossible to fully explain what happened with MML3 without inside information from Capcom, but we think this still manages to detail the Mega Man Legends 3 story pretty accurately. - Skybane
Eeeeeh, not him. Did you see how MN.9 turned out? I still think the company should keep him, but we need to convince them to make another one because: A: It's cheap to make (unless we're talking about the legends series) B: If they can keep the Ace Attorney series going, why not give the blue bomber a chance? Just alternate between these smaller franchises and it should be fine. In fact it would even be better for the creativity, once they finished working on a Megaman, they can think about something else by working on another Ace Attorney and vice versa. In fact, the only other company I would trust to keep this franchise alive would be Nintendo, but then again, I'm still waiting for Kid Icarus Uprising on the wii U, or Warioland 5. Ok, they don't keep their franchises alive either but at least when they make a game, it's a good game (except Star Fox Zero and Zelda Skyward Sword).
Pablo Meyers Dumbass. 1 year later and Megaman 11 will be released soon and we have MMlegacy collection 1 and 2. You're the type of "fan" to ruin shit like this.
This video made me cry. Looking forward to MML3. Btw, you did a good job in building up the momentum in the video as well as comforting our fanbase minds. Legends never die.
So many years later. I've grown older, forgotten so much about things I enjoyed when I was younger. This pops up in my recommended and I'm FUCKING PISSED ALL OVER AGAIN.
Unfortunately, something tells me the true reason behind Legends 3 cancellation, and the 'Logic' behind it is something that even in house of Capcom isn't fully understood, Left hand not knowing what the Right is doing kind of thing. As a storyteller myself, I honestly can't think of a worse thing to do to my fans then this, not only deny them a satisfactory ending of a story but to try so hard to give it to them, have such transparency in making, only to have it shot down by powers possibly bigger then me, and not know the true reason of why. If that was me, that would be my biggest regret. I'm sure that there is a reason behind the this that makes sense to someone, but with the money that Capcom stood to make with Legends 3, even fatal flaws would merit fixing, maybe even burning the entire project to the ground and starting again using the ashes as foundations (Granted, the whole burning to the ground already happened). It's situations like this that I want to crawl into the company heads and get some answers. But hey, that's just how I see it, I could be wrong, and I probably am wrong is some way.
This is a really good summary of the events, and a sad reminder of the outcome as well. Thanks for putting it together, it's got me itching to start up Legends again even after replaying them both only a year or so go. That being said, I wanted to say that you may want to add a spoiler warning for Legends 2 at the beginning. Not that it makes much sense without proper context, but I'm simply speaking for another who's playing the game right now and pointed it out. Cheers.
Thank you for making this wonderful video. I have collecting as many devroom entries as possible. Is there anyway to encourage people in Japan who made devroom enties to post Bonne Mecha, Townspeople, Reaverbot, Town Easter Egg, and Bright Bats Mascots entries to Capcom Unity Devroom here?
Well, we're not sure about that, but it appears that all the Japanese Devroom entries have been archived by the folks at Legends-Station.com. You can download the archives from this thread, where they're hosted: mmls.proboards.com/thread/4702/japanese-devroom-archive We're glad you enjoyed the video!
I tried using the links your talking about but unfortunately they don't work for some reason not ever Wayback Machine preserve everything on Devroom of Japan :( Why can't the contestants from Japan join the Devroom of America and post wonderful entries. I just want to see all of the Japan Devroom entries see the light of day so that everyone could view them.
I joined the dev room asap, and tried to participate in many forums. Then the project cancelled on my birthday month. I remember a post on my birthday even.
A great comprehensive rundown of the events that transpired all that time. Good work, Skybane! Hey, I'd like to lend a hand to you guys should you guys consider making another documentary on the games. Oh hey, and I'm a retweeter of that one tweet on 14:34. What a time it was to be vengeful.
Thanks a ton, OKeiji, and we'd certainly like to have your help! For this project I didn't really have a need to reach out to a lot of people for info, as both myself and Hypershell had payed very close attention to Legends 3's development from the get-go, but for a future documentary (maybe one extending to the whole Legends series), we'd love to have you involved! - Skybane
Man, i feel like im in heavy denial about this still. MML2 is my favorite game from my childhood! Everytime i see a new MML3 video pop up it gives me hope ahaha :(
It's 2020 and I still want Megaman Legends 3. People don't mention it but myself and many other people actually had difficulty signing up for the website. The sign up just wouldn't work. Maybe if the website worked properly we would have the game now. I really don't think Capcom ever understood the amount of demand there is for this game.
This is my favorite video game series... I still can recall the fury the fan base felt when Capcom blamed the fans (myself included) for its cancellation. Thank you for paying tribute by commemorating the day it was cancelled with a memoir to the game that could've been. :'(
It kind of was the fans since they deemed only the Classic series to be good and all the other series crap. (really, the Megaman fandom is that bad. just look at the AVGN episode of Megaman)
I should have participated more... i forgot my servbot number but I vaguely recall it to be in the 300s. But I regret nothing for being a fan and supporter of not just the project but the series as a whole. It deserves closure more than anything at the very least.
@@solitonmedic wouldnt be great if some one could get inside capcom and somehow leak online all the game existent files from its development? a Robin Hood level crime.
Let's be honest Capcom, you cancelled this and megaman universe just because Inafune left your company, maybe he was tired of making games just to get money for the company. I loved this mini documental. I hope some day, we see Megaman Volnutt back in Terra :(
For a 29 year old Bronx resident who has been gaming since 3, following nes to snes..gameboy, super gameboy to n64 to playstation.. this series was an incredible one amd my fav seried..great great soundtrack..the game itself , which was so unique in many forms. I also had the misadventures on tron bonne on release and it came with the MML2 demo that ended with the snow boss where you find the frozen encapsulated woman. When i heard this was cancelled around idk 2010,11 or 2012, highly disappointed because the potential of a full rpg megaman game was there all along. It was so similar to zelda actually in many ways but the customization of weapons and hard ass grinding for zenny, secret optional areas that got extremely tough, and a sort of new game plus with higher difficulties and better starting equipment plus access to stronger dungeons off the jump..the game was incredible with high replay value. Especially if weapons were carried over..
Thanks for making this video. I came into learning about this wayyyy late in the game. I pretty much found out about it when it got cancelled. I didn't even know it was in development. This got me all caught up on where it is now. Maybe they can take the existing design and structure to put in on a platform agnostic engine like unity or ue4. Seems like the home brew is promising but it would be great to see more hands on deck. MML is still one of my most beloved titles.
And now we are at the third month of the year 2021, where the 3DS has officially ended it's repair service and with it the hope of the original Legends 3 being properly a made. Even as a person who was not involved with the fan campaigns, I could almost feel my heart getting ripped out of me when all the info lead up to the cancellation.
The switch is the best option for legends 3, everything there sells good, even ps4 games running at 10 fps sell good there. That's my last bet. I hope they say something soon. What a bunch of mediocre people work there
@@criticalhard I get what your saying but what I meant to express was that the last chance for the game to be released as intended on 3ds has long since passed. Additionally, while hoping for a revival of the project on modern hardware is admirable, it would also be unlikely as reworking the ecisting game to work on them would require some work and some money.
When I first heard about Mega Man Legends 3's cancelation, I knew very little about the series. Since I currently don't own any PlayStation consoles, I'm unable to play the originals myself. Therefore, I tried emulating them only to find out how complicated it is to get a PS1 emulator to work. I was left with one last resort: emulating the port of the first game on the Nintendo 64, MegaMan 64. I remember hearing that it was considered inferior to the PS1 original, but the only complaints I found was that it didn't add anything new to the game and minor content had to be cut or "lessened" (such as the lower quality audio and a higher amount of fog in large areas). When I started the game, I was able to get used to the controls quickly depite it feeling a bit clunky since left and right on the analog stick move the camera left and right and L and R is what physically moves you left and right. As I kept playing, I found that I was able to get to places pretty easily without the use of a guide (with the exception of a couple parts near the end). Later on, I would get used to targetting, strafing, and circling around enemies. For what is apparently an inferior port that came out 16 years ago, it's surprisingly aged pretty well in some parts. The reason I want Mega Man Legends 3 is because I would really enjoy it as a game. I don't know how many problems were fixed in The Misadventures of Tron Bonne and Mega Man Legends 2, but I feel the series can really benefit from having a modern take with tighter and improved controls. This sequel is the perfect oportunity to show what these games are capable of. Capcom, I'm not asking as a hardcore fan who wants to see Volnutt get off the moon, I'm asking as a newcomer who wants to play a fun game.
This documentary is pretty good, but I think it misses some of why Legends 3 was cancelled. While it was meeting interest goals to a point, I have a feeling that Keiji Inafune leaving the company has a lot more to do with things outside of Legends 3. Long story short here, he's not the saint some people believe him to be, and I believe he was actually hindering the brand. As well, I think there's a decent reason why Capcom has "avoided" the brand for so long. Yoshinori Ono, Capcom's big fighting game guy, has basically said on two different occasions that Inafune was more of an obstacle rather than a resource. One example is that he was mentioned as a direct roadblock for having a Darkstalkers 4\a new game in the Vampire series (that's the japanese title) made during Capcom's fighting game renaissance. Another is that during the development of Street Fighter x Tekken, Ono wanted to include Mega Man (the original blue bomber design) and thus asked Inafune for some advice, and Inafune basically told him to scrap everything and come up with something original, and the result of that was the character we got. The "jab at the fans" out of work, past his prime Mega Man who's based on the NA box art for the first game which just happens to have a poke at what would've been a recently released Legends 3 had development panned out. That is, it'd have been seen as the joke it was written to be rather than as the insult it was read as. Inafune made a public announcement about taking over as Capcom's Global Head of Production, about his plans to basically Nintendo-ize the Capcom game development process. I've got no proof of this, but I believe that this is primarily how the troubled DmC: Devil May Cry came about, and the public reaction to the game's TGS 2010 trailer probably helped incite it along wtih the development for Mega Man Universe not panning out how he'd probably intended. His pet project, Legends 3, also wasn't generating that much interest in Japan, AND it had the backing of less than stellar sales figures when it WAS a current product. The only thing the project had going for it, then, was Inafune's rank. Yes, I am suggesting that Inafune pulled rank to have the game built, then tried to fortify up his idea with the Devroom concept. The fans probably had more to do with Capcom distancing themselves from major projects regarding Mega Man than anything else. The new animated series is getting flak in it's premise and in the all of one picture we've seen of the character, and this is before we've even had a proper teaser trailer or even a few episodes to watch. "This isn't Mega Man!" the fans call out, "Ruby-Spears did it better and it had lion men!". Then you've got the negative reaction to Mega Man in Street Fighter x Tekken despite it being more of a product of Ono's design than Inafune's, with Ono paying tribute by just soft rebooting the entire idea behind the franchise. So Capcom gets slandered for cancelling Legends 3 yet the groups banding together under the banner of "100,000 Strong". Not good numbers when your projections usually shoot for the millions. So the end result? Capcom's probably only just worked up the courage to poke the brand with a stick, and the fans are all more than happy to nitpick every little thing that Capcom does with the brand that doesn't seem to be in the fanbase's favor. If a fan makes a new Mega Man game, everybody's fine with it, but if Capcom dares to even touch the project, at least 20% of the comments are going to be comments about cancelling it, statements Legends 3-related, and finally how the project is awful and how Capcom should sell the brand to Nintendo or Comcept. So Inafune's not as smart and ingenious as people make him out to be, he left Capcom before any of the crap could fall his way. The fans flipped out and continue to somewhat flip out at Capcom for cancelling a couple of weak games that weren't testing well, and they have the decency to invent reasons that Capcom hates them which makes Capcom hesitant to even approach the series, although they're really chomping at the bit to make SOMETHING new with the brand considering they're still fans of teasing fun cameos in various forms and merchandising the hell out of it. New games in the series are welcome as long as Capcom doesn't make them, too.
Poor ol’ bastard, I loved those games, I have both copies for PS1 still. Decided i’d Keep one, and when i heard 2 existed I got it for my 16th birthday. With the way it ended (due to now having internet access) I checked to see if the 3rd installment was for sale. And all I found, was this mess. This absolute PR pukefest, of half-truths, and underserved fans. I sat there and actually shed some tears over that, this series meant a lot to me, especially with my kid years being tied to this, spyro, and a few other old school games. And that was only a couple of years ago, I’m 20 now as of typing this, still not off the moon. They really soiled their name with me, and I frequently shy away from some of their titles because they screwed the Megaman fandom more times than I can count. I’ve written out before how I’d go about it, especially post spyro re-release. Take one and 2 and revamp them, fresh coat of paint, updated graphics, improved character models, and fun little improvements to make it feel more organic in the combat while not changing the basic formula nor the actual combat. Same system, just smoother. All available for new consoles and PC. Then actually do Legends 3, fix it up nice and well, design the levels to be excellently well done for platforming and exploration, with reaverbot combat in mind. Tell a compelling narrative, make the game long, and make it a swan song to the fandom, a kingdom hearts 3 level pure gold homage of love and care. A music score to rock the ages and roll out the red carpet (see what i did there). And just cherry on top, large sparkling sprawling open world 3d action RPG fun! From then onward just keep up the flow until it is done. Whereby, if the advertising team did their job, not only would they revitalize interest in a beloved series they’d make a sizeable profit and mend burnt bridges/and probably bring in a massive group of new gamers to Megaman. If they want they could even finish it, now if they would prefer to perhaps...idk continue it...welllllll then, just don’t make us wait too long, just make sure we know it’s for quality reasons rather than you know...ditching us. But that’s my approach and I plan on appealing to them in some form of email. They may laugh their asses off at me all the way to timbucktoo. But, if i’m right, well they could thank me later, preferably with some cash to live on, and a collectors copy, as I would buy my own copy.
Been 6 years since it got canned. Thinking about it; it getting cancelled was roughly a year after my Dad died. I know I didn't participate on the Devroom website when it was alive. I remember visiting a few times and reading the posts, and I do recall making an account there. I like to think I'm a big Legends fan, but I've always been more of a spectator. I silently wished the best for the people with the creativity to help in the development. I remember after it got cancelled I was angry for months. Even rewatching this video, that anger isn't gone. I vowed I would continue to call Capcom; Crapcom until MML3 comes out. And I still do. I've actually have tried to discourage my friends - who are not MML fans - from buying anything Crapcom because of what they did. I haven't given them a penny of my money unless it had something to do with the Megaman Legends series - and ONLY the Megaman Legends series. I'm not much of a fan of the other Megaman carnations. I grew up playing Megaman 2 (and have yet to beat it lol) and I tried one of the Megaman X games, and I really enjoyed the first Megaman ZX game on the DS, but they didn't interest me as much as Megaman Legends does. Legends took hold of my young, impressionable and curious 9-year old mind with its voice acting, moderate challenge, music, gameplay, characters, setting, and mystery. It has yet to fully lose it. I remember actually going out of my way to get the PSP versions of DASH1 and 2 even though I can't read a lick of Japanese. I actually beat DASH1 despite the limitation. Been meaning to get back to it and beat Hard mode and eventually Easy mode. Not sure if I'll actually play DASH2 and the extra stuff on it since I can't read Japanese. I just know I can play DASH1 because I have the English version memorized lol I remember even though I was tight on money I also got those songs this video mentioned, all 3 games on PSN - despite already owning the physical copies as well as the N64 port of Legends1. Actually I got my introduction into the series from the N64 port lol I didn't get to play Legends 2 till about 07 lol TBH I still haven't tried playing Mis-Adventures of Tron Bonne except for the opening segment despite that I've owned it since about 09. I did try my hand at a novelization of MML1 on fanfiction.net. Its not one I work on very much. I haven't worked on it or looked at it in years. I'm not sure if I'll ever finish it tbh. I want to though. MML1/MM64/DASH1 will always have a special place in my heart along side Majora's Mask from the Zelda franchise, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (an N64 game that came out around the same time as MML1 did in America) and Skies of Arcadia (a Dreamcast and Gamecube game that also has its own small cult of fans, that likely will never get a sequel. At least it didn't have a cliffhanger ending!) I'm pessimistic at this point that Crapcom will ever get their money-loving heads out of their asses and approve to have Megaman Legends 3 made. I think the only hope we have is in the fanbase to just do it themselves. I'm not gonna lie; I WANT Crapcom to go bankrupt and fade into obscurity. Let Karma bite them in the ass, and leave the Megaman trademark left to the public domain or for someone like Nintendo or some small-time company that has been known to do work on older series or games that are more retro. Just anyone or any company that will put effort into Megaman Legends 3 - effort that Crapcom doesn't want to put into.
Great documentary guys! I've always argued the point of Capcom having a monopoly on the eShop with the release of the prototype, and why they wouldn't release it has never made and probably never will make sense to me. Glad you mentioned that important piece in the documentary!
You can thank Hypershell for that. I had actually neglected to mention that piece in my first draft for this documentary, but fortunately, he noticed its absense and suggested that I put it in. I seriously can't give enough props to that guy for the help he provided in this documentary's production! Anyway, thanks for the compliments! We're super glad that you enjoyed the video! - Skybane
It's upsetting to see MegaMan Legends 3 not get public. At least it was exciting to see fans help with the game. I hope at some point, The game would be teased and inevitably be released for nowadays' consoles.
Phenomenal video! This really shed some light on a few things I wasn't sure of. I don't know if we'll ever see Legends 3, but I loved that series all the same. I kinda feel like Recore has some of the spirit of the Legends games (as well as Metroid Prime) so maybe that game will fill the void left by Legends a little bit, haha.
Thanks a lot, and we're super glad that you found this video informative! Legends 3's development was incredibly extensive, so it's not uncommon for confusion to arise when the topic is touched upon. That's ultimately why we wanted to put out this documentary, however: to provide an accurate account of all the factors surrounding Legends 3's development, and thus clear up as much fan confusion as possible. Anyway, thanks for watching! - Skybane
One thing that I don't understand is that the Megaman Legends Series 1 and 2 debuted during the PS1 era; now between that and passing by the PS2 and Nintendo DS/DSi eras we were onto the 3DS before Switch......Why such a long time.....? More than enough time to get a kickstart on the Project most especially during the PS2 era which was the most Influential and Predominant in video game history.....What happened to Legends 3 back then and why was there no Initiative back then? Thank you.
any updates on this ??? i miss legends and most importantly miss my blue boi begin stuck in the moon for so long. only reason i bought my 3DS on launch day.
This whole situation has been one odd bird to watch, and it's remarkable that through it all fans have remained so supportive. What has amazed me (and made me the most curious) is how Capcom seems to be turning around, from stating in August 1st of 2011 that there were no plans to revive the series and going so far as to even acknowledge the Get Me Off The Moon B page to then posting all of the Legends games on PSN. I can't imagine this would of happened without the sheer amount of fan clamoring, and I can only hope this is used as sending a message. Either way, I'm glad that you're still fighting the good fight. While some of us can't necessary do so to the same degree, we'll certainly be right alongside you in spirit!
Great documentary guys. I definitely need to get back to playing these games through PSN. On Capcom recognising our interest by rereleasing the titles on NA PSN, I think it is worth noting that Sony published all of the Legends games as shown by your screengrabs and the games's ESRB ratings. Capcom did obviously do some work for it to happen but yeah.
I still remember this. I got a Nintendo 3DS for this game because I'm a huge fan of Mega Man Franchise. I usually get the newest portable console from Nintendo when they announced a new Pokemon Game is coming out soon so me getting a Nintendo 3DS before a announcement of a new Pokemon Generation for the 3DS was unusual for me. Once I got home and read about the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 Project I was furious and I was literally cursing a mile a minute because of how mad I was. My mom calmed me down by saying that I have a Nintendo DSi and can't it connect with my 3DS? I said theoretically yes it can it can connect via wireless being both consoles have both wireless and WiFi capabilities. My mom said well being you have two Pokemon Games on the DSi you can transfer it between both games and then I realized that I could do that while waiting for the unavoidable Generation 6 Games.
So here I am looking up MML3 stuff because with the release of the X series collections this summer and MM 11 at the end of this year it got me thinking/hoping there might just be a sliver of hope to see new X series games and possibly dare I say it... Legends 3 in the near future ?! Anyone thinking this?
One can only hope. After the SF5 mess, Capcom started doing pretty much everything right. Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, DMC, and classic Mega Man are all getting love. MvC:I was a little stumble, but I can forgive them on that one.

as far as i'm concerned the higher-ups of capcom deliberately sabotaged legends 3 just to keep up their vendetta against inufune. its been their practice ti kill anything megaman related just to spite inufune for leaving.
Maybe this new generation of consoles is our blessed one, Megaman 11 was released and X9 is coming (I'm sure). We have to be patient and maybe we will get Legends 3 (not for 3DS, but for all the platforms) ♡
I really loved the new characters for the prologue/demo thing. I’m a long brown haired guy and I’ve been a Legends fan since I was 8/9. I bought a 3DS just for Legends 3 Prologue.
Excellent video. I'm glad someone can shed some light on what happened, at least a little bit. What kills me is how GOOD the prototype looked. It didn't just look like a standard tech demo, it looked legit fun to play. At least I'll have a reminder of its cancellation date every year... on my goddamned birthday. Worst. Gift. Ever.
Long live the Legends series.
MegamanNG LEGENDS FOREVER
The Legends never die.
MegamanNG long dead now

Almost a decade since the cancellation. I was 5 when I first played Legends in 1998. It was one of my first games I had ever played. I hold so many emotions when I think about all the fun I had playing these games. Legends had so much charm and love put into it. I have so many fond memories of adventuring Kattelox Island. Legends 2 had such a rich world behind it. So many unique characters and a genuinely intriguing plot. One of the best if not the best looking game on the original Playstation. I was 17 when Legends 3 was announced. I will be 27 in April. I still tear up thinking about this
I bought a 3DS for this game and was pissed when they cancelled it.
Don't give up, there's still that slight possibility of legends 3 making a comeback, afterall....legends never die
It was the first megaman game I ever played and its so sad that Capcom kept making poor decisions with finishing this last game
You were 5?
When I become rich, megaman legends 3 will be on my list for production.
Never wished for someone to get rich as much as just now
How is the the plan on getting Rich going?
If it was that easy, there would be no poverty.
Invest in XRP so once it reached 10k a piece, we can buy the rights for the franchise.
Manifest it!!!
5 years later, and i thought i buried this anger. But god dammit Capcom, i still can't forgive them.
I don't think we'll ever get over our anger
2019, almost 2020 now...still going strong.
With Capcom going back to Megaman by making Megaman 11(which was very successful) two years ago that leaves me hopeful that they'll decide to revive Megaman Legends 3 soon enough.
2020 and I still haven't forgiven them.
Dang it, I really want Legends 3 on the nintendo switch if Mega man 11 does very well
Capcom cancelled other finished Mega Man games (Mega Man Universe) along with Mega Man Legends 3. Capcom seemingly cancelled the games out of spite because of Inafune's departure. It was like us fans were the children in a Japanese divorce.

It appears that Capcom hunt down The alternate Fan-made Megaman Project and Make It stop
Incredible documentary, Legends is my Favorite series of all Time! i Hope one day Capcom open their eyes and see how Incredible and ambicious this project was and turn it on again!
To this day, I have NEVER forgiven capcom for canceling MML3......
The proto-type is the ONLY reason I have a 3ds.
Mega man legacy collection?
Please, the anniversary collection is what they should've released, with 9 and 10 in it as well.

It was the first time I bought a game system on Day 1. And that was my reason. I also let both Nintendo and Capcom know this in surveys. ~Servbot #53

Well said
I would love legends 3
Still crushed after all this time...
2017 and he's still on the moon :(
It's 2019 and our blue bomber it´s still there...
Hopefully, with success of Megaman 11 and X Legacy, we get to save him finally soonish?
Didn't Master Roshi and Piccolo destroyed the moon multiple times?
Maybe we can get a spinoff title where we work our way to get Megaman off the moon
2019 still waiting!!!!!!!
I still think the company should keep him, but we need to convince them to make another one because:
A: It's cheap to make (unless we're talking about the legends series)
B: If they can keep the Ace Attorney series going, why not give the blue bomber a chance?
@Cuye Boy Search "FFVII remake" and stop whining.
This video made me cry. Looking forward to MML3. Btw, you did a good job in building up the momentum in the video as well as comforting our fanbase minds. Legends never die.
He's on the moon?
Zero: Hold my beer, oh wait..
The only reason I got the 3ds was for this. Never forget Legends 3!
Same! And then I never touched my 3DS as it's really the only game I wanted for it lol
WoW CC2 want to develop this? Please Capcom. Thanks for the video
I'm still keeping my fingures Crossed that Legends 3 will eventualy come to be. Hey a Rhyme
Yup, still here. The anger, the pain.
Checking in from 2023... Still doesn't hurt any less.... :(
I will never ever get over the cancelleration of Megaman Legends 3. it still hurts me to this day.
Capcom will never see another nickel from me because of it and I hope they go bankrupt.
legends never die.
I remember happily buying a 3DS at the time just so I could play that demo. Now that dusty 3DS on my shelf just looks at me. Taunting me.
Cheers.
Still one of my all time favorite franchises. Legends never die!
I'm still really hoping that the game might, through some sort of miracle, still be made.
Gotta believe
:(
No pierdo las esperanzas
Still waiting, maybe one day he'll get off the moon
Thank you for making this wonderful video. I have collecting as many devroom entries as possible. Is there anyway to encourage people in Japan who made devroom enties to post Bonne Mecha, Townspeople, Reaverbot, Town Easter Egg, and Bright Bats Mascots entries to Capcom Unity Devroom here?
Well, we're not sure about that, but it appears that all the Japanese Devroom entries have been archived by the folks at Legends-Station.com. You can download the archives from this thread, where they're hosted: mmls.proboards.com/thread/4702/japanese-devroom-archive
We're glad you enjoyed the video!
- Skybane
+GetMeOffTheMoon Awesome. Give me a call then. ;)
Man, the pain...
Love Legends, the X series, Battle Network, and of course the originals!
Even till this day I suffer watching this.
Man, i feel like im in heavy denial about this still. MML2 is my favorite game from my childhood! Everytime i see a new MML3 video pop up it gives me hope ahaha :(
4 and a half years since this video.
2018-Here we stand unbroken with the community behind us, we are stronger than ever! LEGENDS NEVER DIE
Remember future companies. NEVER MAKE PROMISES YOU CANNOT KEEP.
LOL "one thing's for sure.."
I'm watching this on November 2018.
Good job guys. We will get MML3 someday..... maybe... hopefully.
Justin Mitchell I'm a new fan,and that sounds like a real backhand insult.
A very well done bittersweet video. It reopened some wounds I thought had healed. :(
*More then 10 years later and this still hurts me... 😢*
what if they made legends 3 on PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch?
So your saying the orginial xbox
it would be a dream!
Nope
ML3 on PS or XBOX would be like ML1&2 on the Playstation, it's that huge of a game it's the best spinoff series ever made.
Id buy it
2018 and he’s still on the moon 🌙
2019, 2020...2090.......2900.......never
We have the nintendo switch. Perfect console for a MML3. One can hope at least.
@@Zayindjejfj yeah, amen
I should have participated more... i forgot my servbot number but I vaguely recall it to be in the 300s. But I regret nothing for being a fan and supporter of not just the project but the series as a whole. It deserves closure more than anything at the very least.
so... is there a playable (even if unfinished) demo *somewhere*?
Who knows? With the advent of 3DS hacking, it may not be too long for someone to uncover a 3DS with a playable demo and extract it for all for use.
@@solitonmedic wouldnt be great if some one could get inside capcom and somehow leak online all the game existent files from its development? a Robin Hood level crime.
@@mendlez2306 I'm surprised nobody was able to do that after all these years.
Let's be honest Capcom, you cancelled this and megaman universe just because Inafune left your company, maybe he was tired of making games just to get money for the company. I loved this mini documental. I hope some day, we see Megaman Volnutt back in Terra :(
Still love that Capcom didn’t do Legends 3 done because they said that no one really wanted it or to many ideas
2021 and Mega Man is still on the moon :(
For a 29 year old Bronx resident who has been gaming since 3, following nes to snes..gameboy, super gameboy to n64 to playstation.. this series was an incredible one amd my fav seried..great great soundtrack..the game itself , which was so unique in many forms.
We'll get it. Don't worry. Mega Man 11, then Mega Man X9, then Legends 3. It's gonna happen.
Don't forget about zx 3
Last I've seen they announced some kind of x game but for mobile. Pretty much something no one wants.
It's 2018 and still waiting for Megaman Legends 3!!
Also, is it ironic that I just completed Mega Man 64 the same day this vid came out?
Oh, Legends 2 is so much better than the first game, it is fantastic.
***** That's great to hear. If I ever get a PS4 or Vita, I'll be sure to buy all three titles.
It's on PS3
+Giordan Diodato I don't have that either, but thanks!
Love the passion and quality of the vid. 10/10
Just replayed 1 recently, and just started 2 last night. I still have hope for 3 someday.
Oh hey there I am at 5:47
Awesome documentary, thanks a lot for doing that!
What an appropriate channel name for this topic...
I just know I can play DASH1 because I have the English version memorized lol
I remember even though I was tight on money I also got those songs this video mentioned, all 3 games on PSN - despite already owning the physical copies as well as the N64 port of Legends1. Actually I got my introduction into the series from the N64 port lol
I didn't get to play Legends 2 till about 07 lol
TBH I still haven't tried playing Mis-Adventures of Tron Bonne except for the opening segment despite that I've owned it since about 09.
At least it didn't have a cliffhanger ending!)
I'm pessimistic at this point that Crapcom will ever get their money-loving heads out of their asses and approve to have Megaman Legends 3 made.

ITS 2020 AND MEGAMAN STILL ON THE MOON
2020.... why do I torture myself even more, as if this year already hasn't enough already?

Nintendo says they're bringing back cancelled 3DS games this may be our best chance of bringing Legends 3 back
Sadly nothing to this day 😞
One of the reason I still have my PsOne (still working) is because of Megaman Legends...
Theres also always emulators. Thats how I play legends 2 and 64
Hopefully with the revival of MM with MM11 more titles will come, they could do a remastered Legends "Legacy" collection and then finally MML3.
Thank you for this. I love this game and was seriously disappointed they cancelled it.
Here before the MM30th Anniversary live stream. December 2017
It's crazy a dump of the ROM hasn't surfaced online. Even the McDonald's DS rom was dumped online.
If people can hack ea and cyberpunk devs I wonder why they can't find this game somewhere
I really liked your video, I'd been following this project since you started, I hope Capcom realize this mistake and make the game!, #LegendsNeverDie
Wow, so many years and this is the first time I know what happened to mml3... So sad. I still want it so far!!!
2020 and I still haven't forgiven them tbh.
While some of us can't necessary do so to the same degree, we'll certainly be right alongside you in spirit!
have theree been any updates since this video?
Great documentary guys. I definitely need to get back to playing these games through PSN.
On Capcom recognising our interest by rereleasing the titles on NA PSN, I think it is worth noting that Sony published all of the Legends games as shown by your screengrabs and the games's ESRB ratings.
Capcom did obviously do some work for it to happen but yeah.
Capcom should revive every megaman series specially this
I still remember this.
And now there is rumor that nintendo is reviving a canceled game. Just hope it is megaman legends

I hope you're right and Capcom decides to revisit this series.
#bringbackmml3
Still want this game... Very, very much.
Gonna have to take a few point away since you didn't use the "It's not your fault" clip form "Good Will Hunting" at 17:37
Happy Waiting!!!
It has been 21 years everyone.... MegaMan has been stuck on Elysia for 21 years
It's 2021 and I still hurt over this. I really wanted this 😔😔
Man, I wonder what people are saying about this game in 2020. Well, since we’re so close to 2021 I wonder what the future will hold.
Poor Rock Vollnut, Looks Like he will have to be on the Moon Forever now
as far as i'm concerned the higher-ups of capcom deliberately sabotaged legends 3 just to keep up their vendetta against inufune. its been their practice ti kill anything megaman related just to spite inufune for leaving.
I almost forgot my daily rage for the day. This video should suffice.
Maybe this new generation of consoles is our blessed one, Megaman 11 was released and X9 is coming (I'm sure). We have to be patient and maybe we will get Legends 3 (not for 3DS, but for all the platforms) ♡
lets also hope for a zx 3
This is legitimately upsetting. Great vid; sad story.
And a true story, Legends Never Die
I really loved the new characters for the prologue/demo thing. I’m a long brown haired guy and I’ve been a Legends fan since I was 8/9.
I bought a 3DS just for Legends 3 Prologue.
Thank you for this great video!
Worst. Gift. Ever.
