- I got fed up trying over and over with the paper clip thing and trying to unplug and plug in the charging cable over and over with no avail, so I decided to hack up an old iPod cable so only the 5v and ground wires were coming out, plugged in the USB A side to my computer, and held it down on leads onto pad 2(+) and 5(-) of the battery pack for about 5 sections just to jump start the charge so the charging station would recognize the battery pack and begin charging it again.
I just fixed all four battery packs using this method and they all hold a solid charge now.
Just came across your video and a lifesaver this is. 2 of my batteries weren't charging at all. I was ready to crack them open after the paper clip fiasco. Used an old USB cable that was laying around, used your method for about 2 seconds. Hooked them up to the charger and they are charging :D AWESOME!!!
Glad I could help
Dude, you are a lifesaver. I cut open a regular 3.0 USB and soldered the ends, and BOOM! Gave teh battery a jump start. Works perfect now! You are a boss!
Just tried this method and it works! I have a battery pack that went dead on me nearly FOUR years ago. Been using disposible AA batteries to play. Tried the paper clip trick and nothing..
Kept seaching and came across this. My friend had two battey packs and it worked for him. Thank you so much!!!
Found a sealed plug and play kit, never used. Opened it up and the battery refused to charge (I guess 10+ years without charging will do that). Tried the paperclip method but it didn't work. Your method worked like a charm, guess the battery just needed a jumpstart and a few charge cycles to even out. Thanks for the video man, appreciate it!
I bought a sealed Microsoft play and charge kit off eBay. Of course it’s god knows how old battery was completely dead wouldn’t register a thing. This worked thanks!
I just bought the same charger dock in this video for my x-360 controllers. Came with two battery's. But im not getting any indications that its on or charging. Im going to try this trick and hope it helps
Just make sure you use a USB port that has constant power. Some USB ports won't provide power unless they detect a device connected and it won't work for this trick
my heroe, you saved my two batteries that i tought they were completely dead
Hi Thank you for the video, Brand New to Xbox 360, I have one of these dual Chargers wondering how do you know when the battery is fully charged?
Does it turn green or turn off, the light I mean
Thank you.
I purchased a used system with used controllers and batteries.
Guessing I'll probably need to get a piece of wire and copy what you're doing here in the video.
Wishing you a Great day/night
You rock! I found a good use for some old USB cables that were no longer working and the end was missing, made up the tool that you have and presto.
What wire did you use? Do I solder the end of the wire?
was honestly expecting you to throw it out the window or at a wall
MothBird ur not a reel moth
Only thing that worked. Man I HATE microsoft BS! Mine are brand new and never used. It was a gift from my dad about 7 years ago, but I don't use XBOX controllers for PC gaming.
Unfortunately there are some steam games that REFUSE to see PS4 DS4 button prompts, forcing me to unseal this wretched Microsoft BS. They designed it NOT to charge to force you to buy more. What garbage. I refuse to, this charging station and these 2 batteries have NEVER been used, to hell with buying more! Your fix was the only thing that worked! Thanks man.
Glad it worked, but it's actually just a battery thing, lots of stuff does this. They're called smart batteries and basically what happened is the battery has a little chip on it, that tells the charger how to safely charge the battery without exploding. So what's happening is the battery gets so low, that it doesn't have enough power to power that chip, and the chip can't charge the battery pack anymore. That's why is you force charge it with little low powered bursts, it gives it enough power to power up that chip when you connect it to the charger and the charger will be able to charge it properly. Lots of stuff does this if it sits for a long time.
@@frozennorthproductions Thank you for the explanation, much appreciated.
Thanks, it worked on a drained one that was like that for at least 2 years! I used a regular cable & Android 5v Charger
Glad it worked!
Thank you very much, you saved my old battery pack :)
Thanks a lot mah man, you save my controller :). I can finally can put it in use again.
2022 it worked like a charm. Thanks man.
Thank you so much! Worked flawlessly.
Worked like a charm for me. Used a portable battery pack to provide the boost.
This is absolutely worksss!!!! Thanks for amazing tips.
Good work man! Fixed all my batteries
Worked for me..... Thank you
It worked thanks so much
Worked like a champ! Thanks!
Also, I wasn’t sure if you meant the old 30 pin connector cable, or the lightning cable. I had a few spare lightning cables lying around, so I used that. It worked perfectly.
legend thank you - my batteries immediately switch from red to green and stay green after plugging them in (they’re dead) is that normal that it was now jumped?
Hi, I have generic Chinese batteries for my joysticks. Do you have any idea if I can make a charger like yours charge them?
Seems to work well!
Thank you
Worked like a charm, thank you. Used an old android phone charger cable. The battery was fairly hot on the charging station afterward, is that normal? The light became green after charging for about an hour or two
Yeah, the batteries are always warm after charging. The issue is the smart charger doesn't know what it is anymore. So the battery just needs initial charge to power the chip in the battery smart charger, once it has enough power to charge. The actual charger takes over and they work fine again
Thx, man, it works!
Hi! Could I use a power supply set to 5 volts to jumpstart the battery and to save me the hassle of having to cut open a USB cable?
Yeah, that's basically what I did was salvaged a USB cable to make a fire hazzard 5v cable
Do I need to solder the ends? Or can I just use the ends connected to a 5v powerbank?
The ends don't need to be soldered, just makes it safer to prevent the wires from touching touch other by not having rouge strands. And you can use a 5v power bank as long as it emits power without load. Manu power banks don't give off power until a device is recognized as a safety precaution so they don't short out
Спасибо за способ!
Одна батарейка загорелась красным сразу. Другая так и не завелась.
So i was gonna play my 360 the battery charger u have it blinks when i plug it in but there is not light while charging
It shows the red lights for when they’re charging but it just makes a loud beeping sound
That's really weird, I've never had mine make a beeping sound. I didn't even know they had a speaker in the charger
Thank you very much, i'ts awesome
Great Job!
Mine blinks 1 time and turns off
You are the fucking boss, thank you bro!
I have one of these but I don't think it works because my batteries aren't charging and the lights won't even turn on. How do I know if it's working
If the lights don't turn on at all, either the charger is not working or the batteries are completely dead. Try borrowing a friend's battery to test your charger and see if it works. If it does, then your battries are likely too far gone and need to finally be replaced
What type of sorcery is this
The easiest way to explain this is that they are smart batteries, the issue is when they get so dead, they forget what they are. So when you try to charge them, it doesn't know what power draw to accept, so for safety they just don't accept any. What I was doing with the USB cable on active 5v power from my computer (not all USB ports have active power), I was tapping the 5v power and ground to the correct terminals on the battery which very lightly boosts the charge in the battery pack, which then the battery has enough power to know its a smart battery. And when on the charger, it knows how much power to use for a full charge.
It just needs a small boost of power to turn on the smart chip inside so it can charge normally after that
@@frozennorthproductions : )Wow, Thank you Brother.
How are you doing throughout all this?
What was the other end of the wire attached to?
5v generic USB.
couldd be to your pc, to your powerbank, to the wall
as long as its 5 volts. (use an old usb cable)
I had it plugged into my computer
That video showed me nothing. What were the purple wire up to.
Read the description
What is this purple cabe?
It's just an old USB cable that was cut off so the positive and negative are exposed to jump start the charge on the battery packs
Hi
Nvm after trying it many times Its starts CHARGING!! TY
What is that purple cable you used to solve this issue? How do I make one/get one?
USB cable cut in half exposing the power and ground to tap on the power and ground of the batteries to jump start the charge, do not hold them for too long, just a few light taps
Oh cool so I could use an old iPhone charging cable and just cut it and use that?
That's exactly what I used, it was an old purple aftermarket charging cable for an iPod haha.
You just need to make sure the USB source is constant power. Some laptops and battery banks won't allow power output unless they recognize a device.
And what if i leave the 2 wires and charge it like that?
I have an usb volt\amp tester... When i attach the wires it measures 3,98 v and 1 amp.
If i charge it like that it would hurt the battery?
Im asking because when i connect my controller the led indicator wont turn on..the cable is good because its working on another controller..
The voltage of the battery is 2.75.
Somebody??
If you leave it plugged in like that, it will charge the battery, but there's no regulation so once the battery capacity reaches 100% it will over charge and likely explode.
Does a samsung charger work?
Any USB cable, you need to cut the ends to expose the raw 5v positive and negative wires, it's sketchy but it works
I don’t know what you did? Can some one explain what is happening?
I cut a USB cable, used an ACTIVE power USB port, and connected the two parts of the cable to the positive and negative of the battery. This gives it a brief boost of power so it knows what it is and can be charged.
Basically what happens is these batteries have a chip inside them that tells the charger how much power they need and when to start charging when they're full. But when they're dead for too long, the battery is too low to even power the chip, so when you plug them in, the chip doesn't detect the batteries cause they're so dead, so you just boost a little charge into them with very low power USB cable wires for a second or two, and that's enough to power that chip so the charger will know what's connected and tell the chip how to charge the batteries safely
Rechargeable batteries > play and charge kit
cool it works gona chi after dun
Does the battery gets warm when charging
Yeah, that's normal, but if it's hot, that's bad and they should be replaced.
@@frozennorthproductions so how long do you charge it. Cos when I charge mine and insert it back in the controller it goes low again especially when it vibrates it turn off
What's basically happening. Is if your batteries go so dead, there is a little chip inside the battery that controls charging. So if the battery is so dead that chip can't power on, the charger can't communicate with the chip to know how much to charge it. So all that's happening in this video is a very slight boost of charge from a 5v source which I used with a USB cable. And that just allows the charger to read the smart chip and charge the batteries again. However, the batteries don't last forever, if they get really hot while charging, or they die really fast, the actual cells inside the battery are just finished and there's nothing you can do at this point other than just replacing them. Batteries don't last forever, and this trick is only to charge a battery if it's so dead the smart chip I side won't power on to let the charger know what voltages, amps, load, etc. It's a safety thing. So this trick can't revive a dead cell, that's impossible. You would have to fully replace the cells. But aftermarket batteries are so cheap on Amazon, it's not even worth it to try and rebuild these. Plus the Hazzard of potentially having them explode while spot welding to the cells. So, TL;DR, you need a new battery pack. No amount of charging will revive the dead cells.
@@frozennorthproductions ok boss but I want to ask please can I open the battery pack and replace the batteries with new ones and continue to use it to charge with the battery hub or the charge cable as shown in a certain guy's video replacing a battery
If the pack uses AA batteries internally. Yes. If it uses a lithium cell, no, you need to spot weld those back together which is really sketchy and I wouldn't recommend it unless you absolutely know what you're doing lol
Man when i put the black it sparks on the 5
You're not making a solid connection, jumper cables for a car will do the same thing if the connection isn't perfect.
It won't work for me can you help me?
Is the USB port you're connected too an active port? Some USB ports won't allow power to be sent out until it recognizes a device (laptops, battery banks, some wall adapters), so it needs to be an active power source. If you have a multi-meter, you can test for the 5v connection from the leads of the USB cable to make sure there's actually power.
i love you bro 😍😍😍😍😍
Its not working for me :(
So what did you actually do?? That video was terribly uninformative
Read the description ;)
