Wow this worked! I first tried the paper clip suggestion from other videos until I found this method. I digged up an old 5V 1Amp power supply. The negative marked cable was actually positive, glad I checked with my multimeter. I touched the power supply pins for 10-20 seconds to the battery. Now the red led lit up in the controller charge cable! However it would be red for like 15 seconds and then the red led would go green :-( I took the battery out and it now measured 2.55V. So I though to myself, 100's of comments can't be wrong on the other videos so I touched pins 1&5 and 2&6, et voila now my battery is charging! Hope this helps someone!
Hi, My multi-meter showed 0v, so I pulled the 9v batter out of the meter and I did the same thing you did and after 5 to 10 seconds the battery pack was over 2v, it's now on the charger charging.
It worked for me! I don't have a power supply, I just used a 9V battery placed it in a 9v battery holder that comes with 2 wires +/- and I pinned the positive to pin 2 and the negative to pin 5 for around a minute. and checked it with a voltemeter, the 360 battery went from 2.45 to 2.78v and it works now. Amazing 👏👏 I've manage to reset two batteries, one official and a parallel one, but I was having trouble with another official battery and this video saved it. I already had a multimeter and this method was perfect to reactivate my battery.
LOL IT WORKED, but I went MacGyver style with a 1.5 V battery and 2 e-cig coils, untwisting them and holding one to each side of the 1.5 V battery and shorting the 2nd and 5th pins with them barehandedly for about a minute. Didn't even feel a tingle and my two bad boys are now charging again in the charging dock. Kudos!

Since I had no power supply near I just grabbed another 3rd party battery pack (this does not have the 6 pins, just + and - in the bottom as a regular AA battery pack) and used it to charge though pins 2 and 5. Tried at 1.5V and 1.8V with no success, but once it hit 2.0V it engaged charging.

Thank you so much for making this video!!! I havent used my Controller in 3 years and the Batterypack was so empty the LED of the charging cable didnt illuminate at all after connecting it. Had no Power Supply though so i cut open an Old Sony Ericsson charing Cable. Worked like a charm... I'm so happy, you all you guys can fix your packs too. But hoestly, micrsoft did a shitty job desining this shitty crap...
I will try this method because it seems that you really understand what you are talking about, and I see that the devices you use are of engineering or of some electronic technical degree. And the option of the clip seems to me eloquent, I know for my career that an eeprom restarts between vcc and gnd, although I do not know that this can help, if in theory, the information that has this eeprom is only a clock For the charge and the battery serial, according to read, so, if it is something related to the programmed obsolescence, it would be interesting to know the system completely embedded from the USB port to the battery, through the control and the cable
I love rechargeable batteries. my Lenovo thinkpad 131e won't charge i might be able to use my dc power supply for the battery I don't know if it's the charger or the battery
I have done stuff like that before. If you are going to try and revive a pack like that, please be careful and keep the current low and monitor the temp of the battery. (you can use your hand but be careful not to burn your hand accidently). Also, this is mostly safe for nickel metal hydride, but a little more dangerous with LIPO's. Please dont leave your setup unattended if you do try it. Thanks for the comment and good luck!

It may be possible. Using a power supply or something similar may help it get back to a voltage that the charger will accept. This could be tricky if you cant see how much current you are pushing into the pack. Be careful if you attempt to do this.
Some packs just don’t come back. Also, once it starts charging, try leaving it on there a few hours. If that doesn’t work it’s gone and it needs a proper burial. RIP...
It appears that quite a few other people are experiencing this same issue. I dont have a newer xbox or the packs to test with, but i would love the opportunity to try and figure it out. Nimh batteries are kinda picky. Some can be brought back and some can’t. You can always try and see what happens. Most of the time revived batteries don’t hold he same charge as they once did. What do you have to lose, they could be bad anyways so give it a shot!
Well, you should use an xacto knife and go around the pack following the seam. These packs like other things are 2 halves glued together. Take you time and don’t slice yourself open and it will be pretty easy to open. You can even carefully use a pair of adjustable pliers to kind of put pressure on the seams to help them pop. This may be hard to visualize but if you take your time and wear gloves you should be able to do it. Then you could carefully extract the old nimh batteries and put 2 more in. If you know how to solder or know someone who does. Good luck my friend.
Mike Benson you should connect the power supply for say 5-10 seconds at a time until the battery voltage gets up a little higher. This will allow the charger to take over the rest of the way. A little trial and error may be necessary.
After I turn my Xbox off the charging light was on for a while it was red for at least about an hour I was leaving it on to see if it would eventually turn off but it never did but once I turn on the Xbox and it immediately went to Green and to believe that it is now charged the only problem I have is it's not charging while playing.... I think that I'll just have to wait until the battery is critically low to see if it will take a charge while playing
I saw someone else had luck with a 9v battery and some paper clips. That sounds like a good place to start. Just look at the 9v and make sure you put plus to plus on the pack and minus to minus. Good luck.

You can use a 9v battery as well.I revived 2 year dead bateries with a battery .

You use a apple 5 watt charger adapter and strip the usb cable to only positive and negative and connect them to the pins on battery

I just plugged my cable in then slid the battery into my controller when the charger cable was pluggged in and bam red light now we wait

I was able to fix three out of three, the only change, I used a cut USB cable to jump charge the batteries.

5v iphone charger works too. be careful tho!

It may be possible. Using a power supply or something similar may help it get back to a voltage that the charger will accept. This could be tricky if you cant see how much current you are pushing into the pack. Be careful if you attempt to do this.

You could use a phone charger and strip two wires it is 5V 1A similar to a USB Port
